And now your host former Rongo CasinoDodgers on te tam Chase everybody, and
welcome in to mo Rongo Casino Dodgerson Deck. Hope you're well on this
warm Tuesday evening here in southern California. You're Los Angeles Dodgers fifty two and

(00:20):
thirty three on this season, firstplace to top the NLS. After a
four and two road trip to sawthe Dodgers sweep the White Sox in Chicago,
then dropped two of three in SanFrancisco, the Boys in Blue are
back home for the start of hissix game homestand first up three game series
against the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight. BobbyMiller on the mount of the series opener,

(00:41):
first pitch at seven ten. Betweennow and then, we got a
lot to get to here. OnMorogo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear
from the manager, Dave Roberts. We'll preview this pitching matchup. David Basse
goes one all one with Josh Rawich, Dodgers former PR Maven Now he is
the executive of the Baseball Hall ofFame in Cooperstown, New York. We'll
hear from Showy Otani shortly, we'llcheck in with Kirsten Watson. In just

(01:03):
a few minutes, we'll check outRick Monday and Steven Nelson out at the
Gallpin Motors Broadcast booth. Well, the Dodgers were off yesterday before that Sunday
in San Francisco, they wrapped uptheir series against the Giants. James Paxton,
Well, not good. Four innings, nine runs, twelve hits.
He gave up. He threw eightynine pitches before Dave Roberts saw enough.

(01:23):
He gave up a sack fly inthe first. He gave up two more
in this second, and David Laarrbi double on the third give the Giants
a four to nothing lead. Andthen the wheels really fell off in the
fourth inning, give it up fiveruns. Matt Chapman, a two run
home run capped off that five runfourth to give the Giants a nine nothing
lead. Yes, the Giants wereup big until the fifth inning, when

(01:46):
the Dodgers finally got on the boardthanks to CT three. Chris Taylor in
the air center field hit pretty deepramos on the warning track. He looks
up and it's gone, okay,So somebody change seats. Somebody helped change
up the vibes. But Dodgers areon the board with Chris Taylor's second home

(02:08):
run of the year, hit thatone four hundred and nineteen feet the left
center field into the Giant bullpen, and now the Dodgers are within eight.
That is the top tier play ofthe game sponsored by Arco Quality, top
tier gas for less number two onthe season for Chris Taylor, ford or
nineteen feet. Dodgers on the boardnine to one. There trailing though the

(02:30):
Giants, and the seventh Chris Taylorback at it again with an RBI double.
At least he came to play andprovide the offense. Dodgers, though
down ninety two, they were downten to two in the ninth when Austin
Barnes delivered with a double. PerhapsBob Melvin not won to mess around.
Dodgers have the last two aboard. As Barnes spray the ball fair down the
right field line into the corner,Taylor's gonna score. Keith Ky's being waved

(02:54):
around dugout by Slater, there won'tbe a player at the plate, say
two run double Crosstin Barnes here atthe top of the ninth inning, it's
now ten to four. Why notDodgers with two in the ninth, but
they'd get no closer. Giants winningon Sunday ten to four as Spencer Bivens
gets the win, James packs andthe loss. Ten doubles by the Giants,

(03:16):
and that game the most given upby the Dodgers since April eleventh,
nineteen twelve, against the same Giants. Chris Taylor went two for three,
a double, a home run,a couple of ribis. The seven eight
nine hitters for the Dodgers came throughwith six hits, drove in all four
runs, but in a losing effort, as the Dodgers dropped two of three
in San Francisco. They go fourand two on the road trip. The

(03:37):
Dodgers now fifty two and thirty threeoverall in this season, and they're rested
and ready to go. After aday off yesterday, back home to start
a six game homestand first up threeagainst the Diamondbacks. First pitch tonight coming
up at seven to ten, andwith more we head out to the Galvin
Motors broadcast booth as we welcome inRick Monday and Steven Nelson. Guys,
thank you, Tim goodness Rick Monday. Is it amazing to be back home

(03:59):
at Dodger Stadium. What a beautifulday, Not that we didn't have great
weather in San Francisco, but itwas not a great finish to the road
trip for the Dodgers. Yes,they went four and two through the South
side of Chicago and through the seriesagainst the Rivals, but dropping two of
three to the Giants. In theway that series ended, they got to
be looking at shops after the off. Did he get back at it?
And I think we can both agree, is that the road trip, the

(04:20):
record, while it was four andtwo, should have been better. Yeah,
five and one at the very least, but that was not the case.
And now the Dodgers seven and ahalf game lead in the Western Division
over the San Diego Pandres Arizona.Trying to make a statement, they've had
kind of ups and downs so far, but they're ten and a half back.
In reference to that series in SanFrancisco, you begin to look at

(04:42):
the last two games, and Ipreface this by which Bobby Miller, who
we see on the mound tonight forthe Dodgers, Because the last two games
the starting pitching for the Dodgers wentjust seven innings, fourteen earned runs,
nineteen hits. Well, on thepositive side, if they look at the
bullpen, who had to cover alot of innings. In fact, they
had to cover twelve innings in thelast two games. They allowed just two

(05:06):
earned runs on only ten hits.So it's kind of the the ying and
yang of the pitching, and theying wasn't very good. I think we
also have to have an honest, fair conversation about where this team right now.
Yes, number two seed in theNational League, though the Milwaukee Brewers
right on the Dodgers heels. Yes, the same Brewers that will be here

(05:27):
in a few days. And Ican understand some fans looking ahead to the
weekend when Milwaukee comes to town. But the fact is that they've been playing
just above five hundred ball. They'renineteen and sixteen with their last thirty five
games played, and they've split thefirst six games against the Diamondbacks. And
if not for like a general malaisethroughout the rest of the division with teams

(05:49):
not being able to figure out whothey are when it's the Padres, these
d Backs, the Giants, thisseven and a half game lead might not
be as big as it if notfor that, you know, you know
what I'm trying to say. SoI think this is a highly important series
of the dodge. I'm in acomplete agreement. Here's the other part.
Let's look at the other ball clubs. For example, San Diego seven and

(06:09):
a half out. You look atArizona ten and a half ount, Okay,
fine, Arizona going off the slowstart. Then they started to get
hot, they got back to fivehundreds, look like they're going to really
make a move, and then theyran out of some problems again. However,
you know, they win three gamesand they sweep this series. Now
there's seven and a half out,and I think you look at San Diego.

(06:30):
I always felt as a player,if you can get within five games,
if you're way back and you canclose the gap within five, now
there's a different flavor every day thatyou have taken five six exactly. The
problem in trying to make up asizeable deficit is the fact you've got reduced
games within the division now because ofthe new rules. In fact, for
example, we just played the lasttrip up in San Francisco this year,

(06:55):
and then of June don't go backagain. So again we're not trying to
insight panic or fear. We arejust saying that this three game series tim
that is about to begin against theDiamondbacks is not one to overlook. The
Dodgers certainly won't. First pitch approaching. We'll be back in a little bit
to talk more about tonight's pitching matchup. Back to you, all right,
thank you. Nelly has been caryingdown to first pitch. Dodger fans,

(07:15):

on Dodgers on Deck, you willhear from the Dodger manager Dave Roberts.
David Vets say, we'll check himthroughout the show. We'll done deeper into
this pitching matchup. But I'm next, You're o Tani Rewind and we'll hear
from Kirsten Watson. So leading upto first pitch on this Tuesday night,

(07:40):

at Dodgers Stadium. Bobby Miller,Ryan Nelson. The pitching matchup. First
pitch coming up at seven ten. This is the Otani rewid Well. It
was a rough day on Sunday forsho he Otani. The Dodgers got be
ten to four. The bottom ofthe lineup came through with six of the
Dodgers eight hits. Shoeotani meanwhile zerofor five in the lead off spot with

(08:26):
three strikeouts, still hitting three tosixteen on the season with twenty six home
runs, best in the National League. This Otani rewind brought to by eto

That's it o e N dot Com. This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson

(08:52):
Hey Kirson now joins us before thisseries opener against the Diamondbacks. It's a
big series Kirson as the Diamondbacks comein trying to catch up. So the
Dodgers in the division and Bobby Millergets to start, and the Dodgers really
need Bobby Miller to give him somelength and have a good outing. Yeah,
you know what Dave Roberts was sayingtoday. The most important thing for
Bobby this is an important start forhim because it's going to be a confidence

(09:16):
builder. The last two since comingoff of the IL, haven't been the
best. There's been times where youknow, the change up has been in
a good spot, but the restof his pitches just haven't been there.
The command has been lacking. Sotoday is hopefully just going to not only
be a confidence builder for him inwhich he can have some success against his
Diamondbacks team, a team that heis familiar with, but just in a
way to kind of reset. Also, considering the amount of arms and usage

(09:39):
we saw from the bullpen in SanFrancisco and even just on the road trip,
the hope is that he can godeeper into this game to just allow
everyone else to get on a goodtrack, but also just to set up
this team to be in a goodspot moving forward. Clayton Kershaw we got
an update on the big left hander. Yeah, so he played catch today.
He been shut down for the lastweek, experienced a little bit of

(10:03):
just lingering soreness in that shoulder comingout of his rehab start, and actually
tried to throw a bullpen but itwas limited only about five pitches before they
shut him down. But the goodnews is that Dave said the stuff today,
even though it was just catch play, was looking really really good.
He is scheduled to have a bullpentomorrow, so he is moving in the
right direction. And even he spoketo the media briefly and said that when

(10:26):
he looks at what this last weeklooked like he did have an MRI,
it showed nothing new, just kindof the usual wear and tear that he's
had in his shoulder. He feelslike this is not a setback, and
so, you know, he knewthat there were going to be some ups
and downs with this recovery, butthings have been pretty smooth for the most
part. Just this minor shutdown, but Dave believes that he's still way ahead

(10:46):
of schedule. He will resume hisrehab assignment in the near future, but
Dave didn't want to give a timelineif he believes that the return to the
big leagues is ahead of the AllStar break, is it after y'all start
break? What we do know isthat it is soon and he's definitely ahead
of schedule, though no doubt aboutthat. That's good news to hear that

(11:07):
he could be coming back here onthe horizon, Kereston, We appreciate it.
We'll check in with you after thegame. Dodger fans and hans.

Casino. Dodgers on Deck continues leadingup to first pitch. Dodgers and Diamondbacks
on this Tuesday night Marengo Casino Resortand spot a great thank slam for good
times. Bobby Miller on the mountof this series opener. First pitch coming
up at seven ten. He's theLA Dodgers Injury Report presented by UCLA Healthy,
official medical partner of the Los AngelesDodgers. Bookie Betts, who did

(12:15):
an Instagram live with David Vatsa ona five seven E LA's Sports. He's
on the IL to fractured hand Yoshinobi. I'm amoto right, tricep tightness,
Walker Bueller on the IL with thesore hip, Michael Grove on the IL
with the lats soreness. Max Munseyon the IL, but he is doing
baseball activities and progressing. Clayton Kershawis gonna throw a bullpen session here later

(12:37):
on this week. Joe Kelly's ona minor league rehab assignment tonight, pitching
one inning in Rancho Kucamonga. Allright, let's head back out to Dodgers
Dave and check out the Dodger Skipper. Anything else with questions for Dave,
Dave, can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in
the dugouts with Dave Roberts Dave wellwith Bobby Miller today at just his last

(13:00):
two outings, a couple of strugglesin there. So how important just is
this outing for him today? AndI know we talked about just the need
for him to be to go deeperinto the game. It's an important start,
I think for obviously for many reasons. I think, just to go
out there and have some success, get guys out, go deeper in a

(13:22):
game, and that speaks just theconfidence. I think that he knows how
much we value him, the typeof picture he can be has been,
you know, but you still gotto go out there and perform. So
I think that this is going tobe a good one for his confidence building.
I know he's talked about how justthe change up and the results of

(13:43):
it have been really good. Buthow do you want to see just the
rest of his pitch mix come togethertoday? You know, I just think
that I just haven't seen his fastballcommanded the way it needs to be.
I think that's big to a littlebit of an overthrow coming out of the
delivery. The changeup, which hasbeen a bread and butter for him,

(14:09):
has been a ball out of handwhen it's not right, and the breaking
ball just has been inconsistent. Socertainly there's a lot of things that I'm
looking for tonight, expecting that theside work was productive and he's in a
good headspace tonight. He's certainly gota lot of bullets left to go.

(14:31):
But yeah, it's more of justsinking all that up. You know,
in one outing I'm gonna started theseason, you caught him like a pretty
big piece of the puzzle for youguys, Like, is that's kind of
only grown as given you know wherethe rotation's at right now, and what
he can give you guys when heis right. Yeah, Yeah, you
know, when you talk about abig piece of the puzzle, that's a

(14:52):
lot of that is talent, andso he's got a lot of talent.
He performed and so now looking atwhere we're at right now, with the
uncertainty in our starting rotation, youhave to have guys step up, and
so you know, I'm expecting thatfrom Bobby. He knows what's expected of

(15:15):
him. But at the end ofthe day, you gotta kind of know
all that, but still then justfocus on pitching and let everything else take
care of itself. All right, there's Dave Roberts down the dug out,
brought to my Service Titan. DaveRoberts is a Titan in his own right.
He's got a plan before his teamhits the field. You need one
for your growing contracting business too.Let Service Titan help you implement it.

Deck, we'll check in with Davidmass Say we're leading up to first pitch
on this Tuesday night, Dodgers andDiamondbacks. I'm Tim Kass, Los Angeles

home for the Blue all season long, Dodgers and Diamondbacks on this Tuesday night.

(16:02):
Bobby Miller on the mount, firstbitch coming up at joining Tim Kates
on Dodgers on Deck. I accepteverybody for who they are. This is
Dodger insider David Basse. All right, DV and a chance to sit down
with Mooky Betts. Clearly his lefthand is in a brace. What did
he have to say? What's thelatest with it. Yeah, it was

(16:25):
fun to have Mooki in the dugoutwith us for our and five seventy LA
sports Instagram series presented by Navy andTankless swater Heaters, and Mooki was in
great spirits. He actually had justfinished throwing Tim. He was out there
in left field throwing from about ninetyfeet, first time I've seen him do
that. He was not catching thebaseball because, as you know, he

(16:47):
broke his left hand and has somewhatof a cast brace on there. So
he had one of Dino Ebol's sonscatching the baseball for him. Allah a
quarterback warming up for a game andlossing him the baseball to throw. So
here's what Mooki had to say aboutthe healing process of that left hand.
Yeah. I didn't do anything.I can't. I can't do anything.

(17:08):
I can move it though, butit just Uh so, when will you
have it checked out again to seeif the bones are coming together? I
get it once a week, sotoday I'll go in and check again for
this week. All right. Yeah, so it's healing up. Nice to

(17:30):
Tim, and I thought that wasinteresting. He gets it scanned once a
week to see how the bones arehealing. Yeah, that is interesting.
Make sure that bone starts to healquickly. Mookie, all right, Another
update, d David Clayton Kershaw. What's going on with Clayton? Yeah,
Clayton kershe eyes. You know, when the Dodgers left for their last road
trip, he was shut down fromthrowing because after his first rehab start and

(17:53):
subsequent bullpen session, the shoulder wasnot cooperating. He had an MRI.
It did not show any new damage, and it feels like he's about to
start the throwing progression a little bitmore tomorrow a bullpen session. And after
Clayton was done today throwing on Flatgram, he volunteered some answers to us.

(18:15):
You know, I feel like it'sbeen pretty the upward trajectory. He's been
pretty steady, you know, upto this point. And I don't really
want to call it a setback.I just think it's just like just getting
your feet underneath you a little bit. And I don't feel like it'll delay
the process by that much. Andyou know, it today felt good,
and I'll throw a bullpen here prettysoon and get right back at it.

(18:37):
I don't know, you know,I don't know, so just it could
be part of it. It couldbe just a little hiccup. I don't
know, but you know I wasable to get some shots and feel better
with it and kind of go fromthere. So Clayton Kershaw very candid with
his answers on how his shoulder isfeeling, including getting some shots, which
means probably a quarterzone injection to calmdown the inflammation in that left shoulder.

(19:00):
As long as he continues to progress, head to your Southern California four dealers
for great offers on a Ford BroncosSport or any Ford model during Ford's fourth
of July day celithon last nine daysDavid Chris Taylor four point fifty average,
two home runs, four double aforo RBIs seven run scored. Dave Roberts

(19:21):
said it in San Francisco, He'sgonna have a long landing pad. I
guess you'd say to runway, runway, runway. There you go to play
a third base and he's back inthe lineup again tonight. Yeah, so
I guess this is the beginning ofthe runway. Not sure which airport,
but yeah, he's gonna get moretime at third base because number one Tim
the guys keyk Hernandez Kevin Bigio. They have combined for an ops of around

(19:45):
four hundred in replacing Max Munsey, who has an ops of eight hundred,
and they sorely miss Monthsey. Sowhy not give Chris Taylor a try?
And he said after the game onSunday, he feels like he's back to
himself. I like my mechanics arein a spot where I can have the
approach of one and a half. For the last couple of years, where

(20:06):
you know, I've always thought aboutin the motor right center and that kind
of puts me on everything. Andbefore the last couple of weeks when I
was thinking that I was underneath themissing and now I'm in a spot where
I can go back to my approachand I just feel like myself. The
one thing I could say about ChrisTaylor you mentioned how will he's sitting in

(20:30):
the baseball recently, whether he's doingthat or it was a month ago when
things were not looking so great andhis betting average was under one hundred.
His personality, his demeanor has remainedthe same, very consistent and never doubted
himself. Dan appreciate what check backyou with you just a little bit coming
up here on Dodgers on Deck, will dive deeper into this pitching matchup.

(23:19):
Classes can fill up quickly, Soenrolled today and I can go to
college dot com and now joined byDavid Basseying here's La Dodgers broadcaster there and
World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.Rick Monday, you're a pretty smart guy,
a very equilibrium type of guy.Would you Would you feel like thirty

(23:40):
five games as a good sample sizetoo? I know whenever you start off
for conversation with that, I knowthat I need to buckle in. Okay,
Well, it's just I'm putting myseatbelt on, I'm putting a crash
helmet on, and I might evenwant a face mask on a helmet.
So your your premises again, thirtyfive games pretty good sample size? Would

(24:03):
you agree? It's a fair sampleshigh fair sample size. It's about the
roughly one fifth of a major leagueseason if you're looking at that. And
I should preface this by saying theDodgers are well in control at the moment
of the NL West, seven anda half games ahead of the San Diego
Padres. But I did remind AustinBarnes and Chris Taylor in the dugout today

(24:23):
that they are only playing just aboutfive hundred ball the last thirty five games.
The Dodgers are nineteen and sixteen intheir last thirty five games. And
then somebody else chimed in and wantedto know what their record was inside the
NL West, and I said, well, the team across the way you
split the first six games, andthe Padres have beaten you five times already

(24:47):
this year. So I'm just tryingto preach urgency and not complacency. Oh
okay, I just thought, maybeyou're just trying to stir the pot.
I didn't really know. I didn'treally know the angle, but I knew
you came fire it up first ofall to get it. You and I
both agree, along with Steven Nelson, also with Dwayne McDonald, if we
look at this last road trip, you would expect against the Chicago White Sox

(25:08):
and the San Francisco Giants, withtheir records going into it, that the
Dodgers would have had better than afour and two record we fought initially going
into it five and one at thevery worst scenario. Don't discount the Giants.
You're into other teams too, becausethere's such a long history, meant,
one hundred and thirty seven years they'vebeen playing against one another, and

(25:30):
whether you were playing against them atthe minor league level, which used to
be the case before the free agencyand players moving around much more often than
what we see at the present time, there is still something special about the
Dodgers and the Giants when they squareoff, and especially if it's up there
no doubt about it. You couldthrow, as you like to say,
throw the records out whenst the Dodgersand Giants. But I still feel Rick,

(25:52):
the Dodgers are in great control ofthis division. But as we have
seen in years past with other teamsand even some Dodger teams, leeds can
evaporate in the second half. Ithank you, and I agree, and
I think most people look into thisball clubs if they are a better team
than what we have seen over thelast thirty five games. Oh, we
can look at injuries, and yes, they've got a lot of injuries.

(26:14):
Mookie Benz the most of recent Munseyis still out. Munsey's been out forty
plus games, and in his absence, you look at the third baseman that
had been replacing Max Munsey total justto one sixty seven batting average. So
you look at it and say, well, the average of Max Munsey is
right around two hundred if you lookat the last three years to begin with,
slightly above that, but the productionlevel has dropped off significantly with Max

(26:40):
on the injured list. And DaveRoberts kind of let us in that he
was going to give Chris Taylor moretime at third base, and here he
is tonight starting at the hot corner, and in fact, he used the
words in San Francisco, We're goingto give Chris Taylor a longer runway.
And then you came up with Ithought was a wonderful question. I just
wanted some definition to what a runwayis, and Dave Roberts wouldn't commit to

(27:06):
how long that runway is. JohnW. Burbank, is it lax?
Well, it's an honest response becauseif you look at the Bigio, he's
basically not played well on both sidesof the baseball, offensively and defensively.
He's taken. If you look atthe last two years, he's taken over
forty percent of the strikeouts have beennot swinging the bat. And Dave Roberts

(27:27):
and the coaching staff has addressed himon that end of it. And if
you look at Chris Taylor, he'sbeginning to swing the bat better and he's
beginning to have I think a betteridea. What's happening in fact, since
the fourteenth of June Chris Taylor. This may be shock a few people.
He's hitting at four fifty. Yes, a small sample size within that stretch

(27:48):
of time, but it's a muchbetter sample size than what the preceding combination
of third basement have been. Andlet's be honest, Rick, at least
Chris Taylor has a resume that youcan go off of. He has a
lot of big hits for the Dodgers. He's performed in years past that some
of these players have not. Butif we look at it realistically, the
last two years now, we've hada lot of swing and miss In fact,

(28:10):
he's up there and something we maytalk about during the ballgame, his
percentage of swings and missus is extremelyhigh. In fact, it's in the
top ten in Major League Baseball ifyou look at that period of time.
So I go back to what Taylorwas saying before the spring training began.
He felt that he had bought intothe launch angle theory a little bit too
much and he needed to get backto the line drive theory. Hopefully that's

(28:33):
the change we're seeing now, butit's taking him a long time to get
there. The good news for theDodgers, the one shining light for the
Dodgers on the infield has been MiguelRojas and Freddie Freeman. Rojas, we
know he brings the glove every night, but almost an eight hundred ops,
Ricky. Yeah, and I geta good indication what your postgame Dodgor talk
is going to be tonight. Let'ssee how it goes. The thirty five

pitching matchup. Rick and Steven willhave the keys to the game. But
I'm next, So we go highin time with Josh Rowich Formber Dodger pr
Mavin. Now he's the president ofthe Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown,
New York. We'll hear from himnext, Pride to Chashworth High School.
By the way, Josh Rowich DodgersDiamondbacks first pitch of seven ten. I'm

(29:41):
Tim Kasis, Los Angeles Dodgers AudioNetwork. This Morongo Casino Dodgers hunt on

And now what will likely be vassa fielding insults from a Dodger player.
It's an engagement of endearment. Thisis high and tight. It's always

(30:26):
great when the Hall of Fame comesto you and comes to Dodger Stadium.
And we're joined right now by thepresident of Baseball's Hall of Fame, the
one and only Josh Rawich. Greatto have you back home at Dodger Stadium.
Thanks Dave. It's great to behere. And you also came with
gifts and also kind of spreading theword of baseball not just here in the
States, but a great new exhibitat Cooperstown, the Transpacific Exhibit that incorporates

(30:52):
a lot of Japanese born players thathave brought their talents to the States.
Yeah, what we're really excited aboutis next summer. It lines up with
the same time that Ichiro is goingto be eligible for the first time to
be on the ballot. We're gonnabe opening up an exhibit called Yaku Baseball,
and Yaku means baseball in Japanese. So we're focusing on basically the history
of the two countries. Players thathave played that went from America to Japan

(31:14):
and vice versa. Teams that wentin both directions, and obviously the Dodgers
are a huge part of that. And here at Dodgers Stadium, not only
did you spread the word about thatexhibit, but also you had players that
obviously have made a huge impact onMajor League Baseball. Yeah, so we
actually brought with us some artifacts, which was really cool. We had a
baseball from a no hitter from HideoNomo. We had an amazing autographed plate

(31:37):
that Peter O'Malley is loaning us becausethe O'Malley family is great supporters of the
Hall of Fame, both financially andwith artifacts. And then of course at
the news conference, Otani san wasthere, Yamamoto son, and then Dave
Roberts who's obviously born in Japan, and Tory Leavello who played in Japan.
So it was a perfect combination ofguys. What struck you the most about
Otani and Yamamoto and understand nam thehistory of what you're presenting at the Hall

(32:02):
of Fame. Well, Otani hasbeen incredibly generous over his whole time in
the Big Leagues and donating artifacts tothe Hall. I think we have Cleat's
a helmet, a hat, ajersey today. He donated a bat.
Yamamoto, I think saw that andsaid I want to give them a globe
from spring training, from his firstspring training here. And then you have
someone like Ichiro who's been to Cooperstownseven eight times. He has always understood

(32:24):
what we do there, which aswe preserve the history of the game,
we honor the greatest of all time, and we connect generations. And I
think these guys clearly recognize that,or they wouldn't have wanted to be a
part of today. Hey, that'sthe voice of Chatsworth's own now Major Baseball's
Hall of Fame president, the oneand only Josh Rawitch. And when you
look back at this transpecific exhibit thatis going to be on display. Heydeo

(32:47):
Nomo, that's who I grew upon. He was kind of a barrier
breaker in a lot of ways andwon the Rookie of the Year. What's
it like to hold a baseball fromas no hitter? Prey crazy because that
was actually the year I interned atthe Dodgers. I started in nineteen ninety
five, and none of us knewwhat Nomo was going to do. I
think all Dodger fans thought this guyhe changed the game forever. Really prior

(33:09):
to that, it had been fortyyears since anybody had come from Japan,
and nobody knew how successful he'd be, and obviously came right out the gate,
was so dominant through a no hitter, both multiple no hitters in the
big leagues, and to have abaseball in your hands, that's from that.
Frankly, anytime you're holding a pieceof history, I think anybody who
loves the game of baseball recognizes howinsanely special that is, no doubt.

(33:31):
And this summer, just in amatter of weeks, a former Dodger is
going to be inducted into the Hallof Fame class, and that is Adrian
Beltra. He obviously is going inas a ranger, but his career started
with the Dodgers. Yeah, Imean he was obviously signed at a very
young age and was able to makean impact at a very young age,
and in two thousand and four,I think nobody can forget it, he

(33:52):
was really truly MVP caliber player fortyeight homers, really took off and had
the first of what wound up beinga Hall of Fame career his first big
season. So he's really excited toget there. We've gotten some early eyes
on his speech. He's a littlenervous to give it, but he's he's
gonna do amazing. He's gonna haveall sorts of Dodger fans there, Mariners

(34:12):
fans, Rangers fans, and maybesome Socks fans too. From his year
in Boston. No doubt he hasspan quite a few teams, but not
as big as the world as thetrans Pacific exhibit at Cooperstown will be unveiled
during each euro's first year eligible forthe Hall of Fame. We've been joined
by the president of Cooperstown and theBaseball Hall of Fame, the one and

(34:34):
only Josh Rawich. Thanks a lotfor the time, Josh. Great to
have you back in Sokol. Iappreciate you. David, Thanks so much,
buddy. All right, Tim,we'll send it back to you in
the studio. All right, Thanksloud DV. Great to hear Josh's voice
when the Dodgers' PR staff then wentto Arizona Diamondbacks and now the president of
the Baseball Hall of Fame. Verycool. If you get out to Cooperstown,

on the mound, twenty five yearold right hitter from her first round pick

Last started against him August of lastyear at Dodger Stadium, six innings.
He gave up four runs on sevenhits while striking out four, but

to the booth Rick Monday, StevenNelson, Guys, thanks DC. All
right, mo, So, thelast thing that we talked about how this

(37:28):
series is pivotal for the Dodgers overallas a team to create further separation between
them and the Diamondbacks, and ofcourse trying to keep pace with the Padres
who have suddenly gotten going. Ifyou hone it in to a micro level,
this is a big start for BobbyMiller because he had a clunker in
his hometown, basically his hometown picturingit it's the White Sox last week and
he's struggling to find himself off theentry list. Yeah, and I think

(37:51):
if we're looking at Bobby Miller,I go off of a comment that he
made after that outing in Chicago, and here's the quote, I feel like
I'm going through spring training again. So he's still searching for whatever it is.
He's not had really control of thestrength zone. If we look at
Miller in particular the first inning hewent just two innings the last outing,

(38:12):
but in the first inning since hehas been back a three point thirty three
average, an ERA of over twelveand a half runs, and he did
not fare very well in those twoinnings. Last Tuesday in Chicago. He
made sixty pitches and he was searchingfor the strength zone instead of pitching like
he owned it, especially that firstinning. But it was something like thirty
eight pitches in the first inning whenthe White Sox scored three runs on him.

(38:36):
On the other side, Ryan Nelsongoing for the d Backs, who
was undefeated against the Dodgers. Yes, not up a huge sample size,
but two and zero with a onepoint five to nine ERA in three appearances.
We saw him back in May andhe put you out. Well,
we'll see him a little bit later. But I think Arizona also they're starting
to look at something that we maysee more of. If you're using an
opener, because Joe Mantufly is goingto be the opener if you will a

(39:00):
left hander, and why not, because you've got O Tony the left he
gonna lead it off. Danny's gotWill Smith, and then you've got Freddy
Freeman the lefty again, so youcan kind of, in theory, reduce
two of the lefties in the veryfirst inning and reduce the game maybe the
eight innings. Right man, wesaw that strategy and plug by Tory Leavello
when the Dbacks were here the lasttime around. Some injury notes for Arizona.

(39:22):
They got a couple guys back. The catcher Gabriel Moreno and Alec Thomas's
center fielder speed centerfielder are both activatedtoday. Jordan Montgomery, who was slated
to start later in the series, the left hander who signed Layton spring training.
He hits the injured list with theinflammation, so he will not go
for Arizona in this three game set. We will go to break or back
to you, I should say,Tim, and the next time you hear

(39:43):
us, we'll be watching the firstpitch of the game, thrown by Bobby
Miller. Yeah, first pitch isnext. It's the start of a three
game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, start of a six game homestand for the
Dodgers, keeping an eye on whatthe Padres are doing in Arlington against the
Texas Rangers Giants and NA taking onthe Braves as Colorado's at home against Milwaukee.

(40:04):
That wraps up the NL West.Dodgers start the night seven and a
half game lead over the Padres, ten and a half games up on these
Arizona Diamondbacks, eleven games up onthe Giants in twenty two and a half
games up on the Colorado Rockies. So after the game is over, David
Vas Saints got you covered with allthe postgame festivities, including Dodger talk as
well. First pitches next, BobbyMiller on the mound, Dodgers Diamondbacks enjoy

(40:25):
the game. I'm Tim Katese hasbeen moroc with Casino Dodgers on deck.
