Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, let's do it on a Friday.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Fred Rogan, Rodney Pete on AM five seventy LA Sports.
We've got Vidie Bond signor during the one o'clock hour
today he'll talk to NFL. And we have our buddy
Jack Harris from the Times two o'clock hour. We will
talk some Dodgers with him. Now as we begin today,
we found out that Tony Gonsolin was DFAD yesterday, as
was Dean. He signed Dean did with the Giants. Gonsolin

(00:26):
will be looking for a job. You know, when I
read that, Rodney, I thought, what was supposed to be
and what really happened? Example, Dustin May and Gonsolin, Tony Gonsolin,
we're supposed to be key members of the rotation. I mean,
go back a couple of years, and that's what people thought.
Both got hurt. Things happened, and now they both find

(00:47):
themselves in different places. Isn't it interesting how it works?
As we sit here in Los Angeles and we hear
Tony Gonsolin the Catman cat man, Yeah, and the cat
Man was good when the cat Man was good. Dustin May,
dust and May was good when dust and May was good.

(01:07):
But the Dodgers do have a way of figuring out
someone's ceiling. I've said that for years. I don't know
how they know. And sometimes they miss they have missed,
but not often. You could say they missed on Michael Bush.
They gave up on him too soon. But to be honest,
there's nowhere for him to play on this roster right now.

(01:29):
They just understand when to say goodbye to somebody and Rodney,
I think that is a fascinating trait of the organization.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
It really is. It takes a lot of skill and
a lot of luck to fred As you mentioned, there's
some guys obviously that have come and gone and have
gone on and done some pretty good things. But for
the most part, the Dodgers have gotten it right. I mean,
you've forgotten you left out Bobby Miller. Bobby Miller is
another guy that was into the plans, the up and
coming super phenom that threw one hundred plus but got

(02:03):
hurt and really couldn't find it. Now we don't necessarily
know the future of him, and hopefully he can find
it again, but he was well entrenched into the Dodgers'
plans in terms of rotation and nowhere to be seen
this postseason or for the better part of the second
half of the season. And you're right about Gonsen. There
was a point where he was in the running for

(02:26):
Cy Young that one season, and he was the Dodgers
ace if you remember, right, and he's gone. Dustin May,
the up and coming Dustin May, who had it all
going for him, and you know, had the injury and
the unfortunate esophagus injury as well, and then he's getting
shipped off to Boston. And don't forget about Walker Bueller,

(02:48):
who's in the plants. Walker Buller was like the ace
of this team for a number of years. He got
hurt and never was quite the same and hopefully he's
still relatively young and he can get it going again.
But all of those guys, all of those guys were
if you talked about the Dodgers' rotation, those were the

(03:08):
guys you mentioned. Just two years ago, Fred.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Michael Grove outrighted to Triple A. Another one, yeah, got hurt.
We don't see it outrighted to Triple light because the
Dodgers went out and obviously constructed an incredible pitching staff,
but they do have this unique ability. I'll never forget
Ross Stripling. He was pitching, and he was great. He

(03:34):
was gone.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yah. Remember Mitch, didn't he have like a fifteen and
two record or something like that. Stripling was he was
made the All Star team. Yep, gone the All Star
team that year and yeah, and then gone.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Remember was it Mitch White the pitcher?

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Was that his name? I can't remember it was White?
I forget his I think his first name was Mitch. Say. Okay.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
He pitched all the time, and the way when you
watch them, you thought, well, this is a guy that
will be part of their plan going forward, and they
kept trotting him out there. He certainly looked like a
solid major league pitcher. Gone gone, Yeah, they kept trotting
him out, letting him pitch. It was sort of like,

(04:19):
we're gonna keep putting you out there till somebody calls
and says they want to trade for you, because they
just knew. They had this sixth sense about how guys
are and what their ceiling is. And they're not ruthless,
they're not brutal, but when your time is up here,
your time is up.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Yeah. Yeah, And it's amazing how often they've gotten it right.
You know, guys that you just mentioned that you don't
necessarily hear from in a big way anymore. Even position
players that have gone on that you know, initially you
thought that they were they were going to be the future.

(05:04):
Our guy now something tip of my tongue, can't think
of his name. Now PI has took his gig. James
out James Outman. James Outman was the next center fielder,
big time player. You know. Zach McKinstry back in the
day was it was a was a big time player.
He's playing for the for the Detroit Tigers. Now. Remember
Kyle Farmer. Kyle Farmer was a guy that they brought

(05:27):
up and they liked a lot, and and he went
to Colorado. So yeah, they have they have an uncanny knack.
And it's when people talk about the Dodgers and them
spending money, and they do this. It's not just player wise.
They spend money, like you said, they put it back
into the organization. They put it back into the stadium

(05:47):
for the fans. They put it back into the environment.
So when you go to Dodger Stadium, you feel it.
You feel like the club cares about the fans because
they're making it a very very comfortable, fun exciting environment
for the fans. But they also they also are not
cheap when it comes to staffing up and make sure
they're scouting department, their marketing department, their analytics department is

(06:10):
fully staffed. And those guys are working behind the scenes
and you don't see them, but they're there and they're
probably better staffed than any other organization in baseball.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Now, one guy we do expect to be back unless
he's given an opportunity to work within the organization as
a coach or maybe even a minor league manager is
Mickey Rojas. Kevin pulled some sound and we want you
to hear in different languages. Kevin write different languages, the
home run call of Miggy Rojas in the ninth inning

(06:43):
in Toronto.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Well, they're mostly in English, I'll be honest with you.
But if I can get the there's a Japanese call,
then there's a Spanish radio call.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
I can see those up first. If you like there
for it.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Whatever we want to do, you just you're in charge.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
You just run them.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Let's hear them, all right, Well, you know what, Let's
go from the loser side first. Let's go to the
ru Jays radio networking here what they had to say
and what their call was of Rojas's game tying home run.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
He's three two swing in.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
A deep drive back to left field. Luhas leaves the
yard and we're tied at four with Todgers spill out
of the first base, stuck out Miguel Rojas with a
solo hond tickets four floor.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Top of the nine.

Speaker 7 (07:25):
No.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Right, but that is pretty solid, I mean.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Fairly subdued that Toronto, Toronto.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
I thought that was a good call given who he
was working for.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Yeah, yeah, Now another Dan Shulman you'll know, works at ESPN.
Is the voice of Sunday Night Baseball, or has been
for the last few years. He is the voice of Toronto,
their TV station. He is their local TV broadcaster. He
is there Joe Davis. So he was actually calling the
Fox equivalent of the national broadcast for Canada. So here
is Dan Shulman again, the voice of the Blue Jays,

(07:54):
but on the national call for Canada on TV.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Here was his call.

Speaker 8 (08:00):
Hit to t plat field and it's gone who House
has hit it out and has tied the game.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
Here that I didn't to see the crowd here is stunned.
Would be an understatement. Jeff Hawkman went back to the
slider but got too much of the plate, and mcgil hoss.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Tied with the Dodgers stand to their final two outs.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
I wait, a little disappointment there in Dan's voice.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Yes, can I tell you something that just struck me,
you know, the radio guy.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
Yeah, that's his son.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
That's a son.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Correct, Yeah, that is his son.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Correct, that's his son.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yeah, which is pretty cool in it of itself, by
the way.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
To be honest, Yeah, yeah, that was a son.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
In Daniel Schuman's voice there a little bit at the
towards the tail end of that, a little bit of that.
But but he's also he's calling it, like you said,
he's calling it for Canada, not necessarily for you know,
all of Major League Baseball, all the Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah, it's a national broadcast for Canada, but obviously everybody.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Up there is pulling for Toronto. So yeah, so that
that kind of makes sense.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
They're a little bit.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
So let's now hear the Japanese call of the re
Rojas home run and the ninth.

Speaker 9 (09:18):
Do something, So I gonna don't fry, how did he.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Hold on? No foul? Buddy?

Speaker 10 (09:30):
You might.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Of course they got a Tani in there.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
That was that was the Japanese radio.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Actually that's Spanish. You know what I had that I
was gonna Spanish radio.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yeah, I'm gonna say, I don't I don't remember the
Japanese rolling their rs like that. I got that too, yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, trying to see if I can find
the Spanish radio broadcast.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
Sorry, this all came in to me a little bit late.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
So oh no, no, no blame.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
I'm not blaming. I'm blaming anybody, just saying.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
We just heard the Spanish. You're looking for the Japanese.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
With the Japanese one, yes, yeah, yeah, So give me
a hot second, go ahead.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Yeah, But as Kevin prepares that, Mickey Rojas, it got
me to think of this morning, Rodney, who are the
Dodgers unsung heroes this year? Who are the guys that
didn't get a lot of credit but without him they
wouldn't be where they're at. I'll give you one right now,
Mickey Rojas.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Is there any doubt he was.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
One of the unsung heroes? Who else pops into your mind?
Just unsung hero wise for the season.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Well, I think he's he's unsung because nobody's like almost
an afterthought and after super thar star thought, and that's
Will Smith. You know, I know he's a star, and
he caught every single inning of the World Series, But
oftentimes people talk about the Dodgers, they don't mention his name.
They mentioned Otani, Betts, and Freeman, and then they started

(11:05):
mentioning the pitching staff, and then probably like seventh down
the list, Will Smith's name will come up, right. So,
I don't know if you call him unsung, but i'd
certainly flying under the radar.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
All right, let me give you another one. What do
you think of this guy, Jack Dryer?

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Uh huh oh yeah, oh yeah. Amount of innings he
pitched in the regular season, every game. I'm surprised his
arm is still on. Every game Jack Dryer was out
on the mound, it felt like, especially going into August
and September. Here comes Jack Dryer, Here comes Jack Dryer,
Here comes to Jack Dryer. But yeah, yeah, no's he's

(11:49):
definitely definitely on that list. All right, How about this
guy Ben Kisperius. Yes, Benny remember the bulk of the season,
during those dog days of summer. He was another guy
they trot it out there on a regular basis. And
he held it together for the Dodgers, you know, kind
of not you know, we wanted to see him get
his little bit of his flowers, but not enough room

(12:10):
on the postseason roster. But certainly during the regular season
he was a guy that was utilized a lot by
the Dodgers and and came through for them.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Okay, would you would it be safe to say maybe
he's not unsung and he certainly didn't hit well near
the end of the playoffs, But how about Andy Pies?
I mean, certainly his defensive play and he's not considered
one of the great stars on the team. How about Pies?
Would he be unsung?

Speaker 1 (12:38):
And we're talking totality of the season, right crap? Oh yeah,
twenty seven home runs, big hits throughout the regular season.
Some would argue when when the team was struggling at
its most, Andy Piez was the one that kept them together.
Him and Will Smith were the most consistent guys throughout
the bulk of the summer. So I wouldn't that wouldn't

(13:01):
that wouldn't be a stretch to say Andy Pius? All right, Well,
we can't say key K because we expected out of
key K. He's not really unsung, but we expect every
October Key k Is gonna show up and be a hero. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Now, I don't know how many guys and how many
people have this guy in their list. How about Buddy Kennedy?
He played like two games? How about Buddy Kennedy?

Speaker 1 (13:25):
He's unsungry I know, but I tell you one guy
is and he you know, didn't hear about him until
Game three, as Will kleinb Willklin. Will Klein is a
household name. He is a household name and Dodger fandom
because of what he did. He threw what seventy something pitches?

(13:47):
I think seventy two? Yeah, credible, and we're in some
high leverage situations that he got out of that. That
was a performance of the ages for Will cleinb.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
And the thing about that, I'm telling you right now,
it's fifty to fifty if even makes the roster next year. Yeah,
think about that. Yeah, it's fifty to fifty if he
even makes the roster next year. So he certainly would
be an unsung hero this year. So Dodger fans, as
you look at the entire season, who are the unsung heroes?

(14:22):
Who is your unsung hero? Who is your one person
when you look back. Yeah, that guy did an awful
lot but didn't get a lot of credit. Today three
relive the memories of World Series Game seven year Dodgers,

that hadn't happened yet, but yeah, Friday, it's a good day.

(15:56):
Let's go for it.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah, it's gonna happen. Don't worry about that.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
I will. I will let you know.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
That that is going to happen and that to USC
will beat Northwestern. Okay, good because if not, USC will
cancel the rest of its season. It will not be
a lot to continue on. They'll be in the Penn
State Division. They'll be relegated, all right, Dodger fans, unsung
hero more than one? Only one Mark in La Mark,

(16:23):
thanks for holding who is the unsung hero?

Speaker 11 (16:26):
Hey guys, I love your show, by the way.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Appreciate you.

Speaker 11 (16:30):
And uh it's it's Will Clined. But the other one
that nobody's mentioned about that I have never seen, and
I've been around for a long time is when the
ball got pinned into the wall with Kiki and the
center field as they put in for defense. I forgot
his name, but I've never need have picked the ball
up and thrown it.

Speaker 12 (16:48):
I never knew that.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
You really didn't know that.

Speaker 11 (16:51):
I didn't know if it got pinned in the in
the I know and Wrigley feel that they lose the
ball in the ivy. I know that it's dead, but
I've never seen the ball get pinned between the bottom
and the dirt of the wall. I've never seen that before.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
All right, well, thanks for the call. Thanks for the call,
appreciate it. I'll tell you a quick story. I've told
it before about that. Here's why I knew the rule,
and you know, if you've heard it, it's still a
great story. Senior year of high school. We're getting ready
to play playoffs, like a one o'clock game, Rodney. We're
playing in Phoenix, temperatures one hundred and five. You got it, Okay,

(17:23):
So before the game, a lot of the ass. When
the team come over in the morning, we're gonna get together,
they all come up into my house. As a matter
of fact. Why that was the case, I don't know.
Here's another thing. I don't know that why they started
drinking at about ten am.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
The team.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Yeah, that's another thing. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Wait, how old were you? What were you? Eighteen?

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Seventeen.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
I don't know whatever. This was the summer league game.
I'm taking it.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
No, this is the playoffs. This is the playoffs. Yeah,
and wait, let's say the games at three. My bad,
So the timing will work. The games at three. They
come over. At ten, they start drinking. So I didn't drink,
by the way, so by like eleven because I was
a catcher. Eleven fifteen. Everybody falls asleep. So all these guys,

(18:10):
a good number of them, are now sleeping on the
floor at the house. Get up at one, go to
the game. One p thirty. So now understand, these guys
have been drinking. It's hot outside. They fell asleep. So
now it's two o'clock and all of a sudden, the
sun is starting to beat down on them. Game starts
at three. All right, the other team. We're up by

(18:33):
two I think, and the other team has a basis
loaded with two down boom ball hit dead center, I
mean a rocket hit dead center. The ball is hit
so hard to dead center that it gets stuck in
the fence. Okay, get stuck in the fence. On the fly,

(18:53):
on the fly, on the fly. It is a blast.
It gets stuck in the fence. So what should the
outfielder do. Immediately raise your hands. Put your hands up.
Only two runs would score. Put your hands up, it
kills the play. You can't get the ball. But the
reason I know this rule all too well is because

(19:16):
given that the center fielder had been drinking and it
was hot, and the ball is hit over his head,
he didn't really have the presence of mind because I
think he was either a little tipsy or hungover, I
don't know what he was. And with this sun beating
down on you, so he turns in slow motion and
heads for centerfield the fence, and I'm thinking to myself,

(19:39):
what are you going to do? And what he did,
in his condition was try to yank the ball out
of the fence. The minute he touched the ball, it
became live, so much so that the guy that hit
it scored for a grand Slam and we lost. And

(20:01):
if he had just put his hands up to kill
the play, that that wouldn't have happened. I don't know
if we'd have come back or not after the score
was tied, but it was like, Oh my god. And
that's why I knew that rule.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Where's the left fielder in the right fielder when they
like Key k Hernandez did put his hands up? Who
were they? They were hung over to.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
You can only assume nobody really got over there. Nobody
really made it. And when he came off the field,
the coach looked at the guy and said, what the
hell are you thinking? What did you do that for?
The guy couldn't even speak.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
He was just what did I do? What did I
do do? What? What are you talking about? Christ?

Speaker 2 (20:46):
And that ended the West Phoenix High School Thunderbird baseball season.
That's how I know that rule. All right, let's go
to La Steve, thank you for holding Who is he?
Unsung hero?

Speaker 7 (20:58):
Hey, guys, my unsung hero is number forty seven.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
Ben Rourdvett.

Speaker 7 (21:04):
Guy comes in after Will breaks his hand and he
catches near complete games, making all the right calls for
these guys for the starting pitching gag all get their
confidence back. And he's a sub two hundred hitter for
his career. And he comes to the Dodgers and he's

(21:24):
he's hitting well over two hundred in big moments, scoring runs,
hitting RBIs.

Speaker 13 (21:30):
I don't think that.

Speaker 7 (21:30):
Guy got enough credit, especially because he was starting in
the postseason in the wildcard round.

Speaker 12 (21:35):
In the NLDS until Will was ready.

Speaker 8 (21:37):
To take over for the position.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Yeah, good call, ste Thanks. Remember he wasn't even the
first because Dalton Rushing came up and he got hurt,
he got banged up, and rope bet, I think never
could say his name right, that is how you say it.
He came in and did a fantastic job. You mean,
imagine this guy's chilling in the minor leagues. He's thinking

(22:00):
as an afterthought, they're gonna bring me up just in case,
and he gets a lot of run and comes through.
So yeah, he's definitely on that list.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
I have to tell you something right now, and what
does it mean right now? But right now I think
he's a backup catcher next journey, Dalton Rushing is gonna
have a battle on his hands for that position, said
he Will.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
I mean, he made the most of his opportunity, and
you're right, it's gonna be a battle for the backup catcher.
All right, let's go do a Huntington beach.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Jeremy, thank you so much for holding And uh okay,
who is your unsung hero?

Speaker 14 (22:37):
Unsign?

Speaker 15 (22:38):
He Tanner Scott.

Speaker 14 (22:40):
Because if you are not giving up a whole bunch
of Dave.

Speaker 15 (22:43):
This year, we wouldn't have this Hockey will climb and
post season with all the other Dogs and Bullpack.

Speaker 10 (22:48):
So thank you for that.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Okay, thank you, so what you're saying. Thanks, Jeremy went
reverse on that.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Tanner Scott.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Tanner Scott is the unsung hero because of how poorly
he played his got to come in and be the closer.
All part of that is an interesting way to think.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
Yeah, maybe yeah, will you imagine Tanner Scott that says,
stop processing. Yeah, I'll tell you what this is. How
I'm gonna give back to the team. You're gonna thank me.
I know it's July and I'm giving up a save
every other night. I know it's July. Maybe it's August two, Yeah,
a little bit in September as well. You gonna you know,

(23:29):
you're not gonna like me right now, but trust me,
trust me. Come October, you're gonna thank me.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
An interesting way to approach it, And if in fact,
if in fact his thinking was that nefarious, then he
could be the MVP. If that was his thinking, I
will go out there and so badly botch things that
you'll be forced to use Roki Sazaki as the closer
and then it all works. You should thank me. That's

(24:01):
an interesting way of thinking. I don't think i've ever
heard of professional Last week.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Is the ultimate way to be unselfish, Fred, You're going
to give up yourself. You're going to look so bad
that they're going to have to use a starter to
be the closer. See, not every athlete that's making a
lot of money is selfish, Fred.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
He's my MVP. He's now becoming the MVP, all right
down to the LBC. Come on, Robert, who's your unsung hero?

Speaker 13 (24:34):
Hey, guys, thanks for taking a call for me. It
is Andy pa Has. Because nobody saw him hitting twenty
seven home runs this year. We have seen him play
elite defense. He's had some issues with consistency on both
sides of the ball. But if you think about how
the team was run eight ten years ago, they relied
on guys like Corey Seeger and Cody Bellinger who came
up through their system, and we were all bragging about
how they're playing moneyball with money. Obviously, now they're just

(24:56):
signing everybody and going nuts. But I mean, Andy paw
Has is an exampmple of how the team used to
be run and how they still have a very efficient
farm system. And I'm a huge, huge fan of his
and I think the next year, in the following years,
he is going to be a massive staple in this lineup.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Fellas appreciate the call.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Yeah, I mean, think about it. We just talked about that.
You think about you know, pies. Before it was all
about Autman. Autman was the next guy. He was the
guy that's going to step in and and be there
their center fielder for the foreseeable future. And he started
to struggle. And who's this kid named Andy? They call
him Pages for the first two months? Who's his Pages kid?

(25:35):
And you know got his feet wet last year in
the postseason. Remember he had a big series against the Mets.
He had a nice series against the Mets, had a
few home runs and got into it with controllers behind
the plate, I believe, and but nothing seemed to phase
him then and he got his run this year, hit
twenty seven bombs. So yeah, pi has I look forward

(25:55):
to him just seeing how his career blossoms going forward.
Next year, I think he can have a really big year.
Fred all right, your unsung hero. Who could it have been?
This year?

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Online seven? Now, let's go Bell and Lockkenyata Bell. Who
is your unsung hero?

Speaker 16 (26:12):
I've got one and then and one other if I
can get it in real quick. Dave Roberts is my
unsung hero. The guy just made every play. He was
playing chess while the Blue Jays were playing checkers, and
my other ones way out there, Fred, I'm going Magic Johnson.
What an influence he has on the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Interesting you going Magic Johnson? All right, he's got to
sign up. Thanks so much, thanks for the call. Well,
I'll tell you the influence Magic had. He stayed for
the eighteen inning game. That was his influence.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
That was big. That was big. If you know, you
know you had any game Dodgers are winning by a
little bit, by more than one run or even one run,
come that seven inning, Magic is gone. He's beating that traffic.
But that eighteen inning game, boy, he stayed all the
way to the end. That's how you know it was
real and it was important. And I know he wasn't

(27:13):
the only one. That that place was packed, Fred, were
you at that game? I was, yeah, that that place
was rocking in the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth inning.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Okay, I'm sung hero line six Robin West Hills. Your
answer is.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
I have too.

Speaker 14 (27:33):
The first one is the obvious one many have shared,
will climb. I was there that night for the eighteen
inning game, seven rows from the field, and what he
done he did was magical and little trivia. Fun fact.
I actually caught the very last ball he pitched as
Miguel Rojastri in the stance, So that was fun you did.

(27:53):
But someone just recently said Ben rourtvert one is the man.
Without him filling in that last month, I'm not even
sure we even make it to the playoffs. Rushing a
lot said about him, probably a lot more potential, but
balls passed by him left and right, and you then

(28:13):
you put Rothberg in there, and he almost catches two
no hitters first two wildcard games, and I think he
even started the first one against the Philly So that's
my unsung hero.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Like it. Thanks for the call. Go to Monrovia Mark
online eight Mark. Your unsung hero is.

Speaker 15 (28:32):
Hey, guys, walking out of stole mine. I was rooting
for Dave Roberts, the manager. He felt like he was
getting scrutinized the entire season. If we lost a series,
everybody was pointing fingers at Dave Roberts and now they
look like third string Monday Morning quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
I hear that, absolutely, absolutely, yeah, Dave Roberts death. He
definitely managed this this team. I don't know if anybody
else could have managed this team like he did.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Angel in your Belinda, Okay, you like the Dodger Ketcher's
you're unsung hero.

Speaker 10 (29:12):
Yes, good afternoon, Fred Rodney, Yeah, Ben Roorvett. You know,
the job he did was simply remarkable. And you guys
have already said it, but he's going to be the
second catcher next year. I think Rushing will probably be traded.
And also I wanted to add on that that ball
they got stuck in the between the you know, the
padding and the wall there. If you look at it closely,

(29:35):
I think Dean was going to pick it up. He
was running towards it. He looks back, he speak it
with his hands up, and then he puts his hands up.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Yeah, so I don't.

Speaker 10 (29:45):
Think he knew the rule. But also I think the
job Robleski and Casparius did. They ate a lot of
inning for us there. Like Rodney said, so, I think
they did a great job for us as well.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
Appreciate the call. Thanks. Yeah, I thought so too. By
the way, about Dean, he went for the ball and
then saw key K jumping around. Then he put his
hands up as well.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Yeah, I'm sure key K was yelling at him too, hey,
don't touch it, don't touch it. But yeah, there was
a little hesitation with him, but still even with that,
having the presence of mind to kind of turn around
before he did that, because he could have just made
a bee line for the ball and not turned around,
just picked it up. But he turned around, and I'm sure,

(30:27):
like I said, he heard key K yelling leave it,
leave it, leave it or whatever, and then saw KEYK
with his arms up and he put his arms up.
But that's another play that KEYK made, right, didn't make it,
but made it, And that, you know, sometimes goes unnoticing
to you you're in a situation like that is why
we love key K and why he's he's so great

(30:49):
in October, not just because his bat and the defensive
plays he made, but just being alert and being aware
like that.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
So Rodney Online one, I believe Rich and Brentwood absolutely
agrees with you, right.

Speaker 12 (31:00):
Rich, Yeah, I certainly do. Thanks, And you know he's
not unsone, but He's my hero for so many reasons. One,
he's the glue in that clubhouse. He's the energy in
that clubhouse. And he just has an amazing impact on
the other players in terms of bringing him together and
keeping him lose. That's one.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
Two.

Speaker 12 (31:21):
All through the year he played what position didn't he
play besides catcher? He pitched. He played almost every position
in the infield. And then in the series, the calling
the play you were just talking about, which was at
the fan he stopped that. He stopped at he knew
that rule and he was waving his arms. And then
that play where he got ended the end of the

(31:44):
game with that double, the double doubling off that guy
in second. I mean, as far as I'm concerned, PK
is the hero. A son, but he's the hero.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Yeah, no argument here. We know that. And it's the
little things that he does on a regular basis, and
it's the epitome of the Dodgers is Key Heernandez. Let's
go to Calton Henry.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
We got two more Henry, who was your unsung hero.

Speaker 13 (32:12):
He did a great job during the season, and a
time Game seven he told Jim and what he thought
about him.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Yeah, I love that. He became my hero after that
moment about that Emin is trying to get hit by
the ball and thin, I think there wasn't gonna be
any consequences, Fred, he's dealing with Well.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
You know what, I don't think it was a consequence
at all. Robleski said, you want to get hit, I'll
just make it easy for you. You know what, Why
are you working so hard? I'll handle Yeah. If that's
what you want, I got it for you right here.
Don't don't exert yourself.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Yeah, I'll give you what you want here. It is
very next pitch. Okay, let's wrap it up with Ryan
in l a Ryan, who are you thinking? All right?
Ryan dropped? Ryan?

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Come on, Ryan, Ryan dropped? So all right, Mitch.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
Go ahead, Mitch, be so enthusiastic.

Speaker 17 (33:17):
I love your show, Fred, Ronnie, how you guys doing,
Mitch great? My high lemon fight on and you guys
just pause. Get a good year, especially much better from
his first year.

Speaker 15 (33:32):
First year?

Speaker 17 (33:32):
How long that he would have been crucified?

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Goodbye?

Speaker 2 (33:40):
Thank you, Roddy.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Did you become me? Yeah? I did? How it sounds right?

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (33:50):
Okay, okay, okay, God I got you got good all right?

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Two o'clock hour Boar Dodgers with Jack Harris.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Have you heard about Hassan Kem in the short?

Speaker 1 (35:57):
I heard about that his father's got some debt that
they're trying to collect through him.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
This is a terrible, awful story. Apparently his father has
run up some sort of debt. All right, His father
owes somebody and I think it's sixty eight thousand dollars
in US dollars. Anyway, Hassan Kim goes back to Korea.
He's being interviewed, and there's a man standing there with
a sign. He's a middle aged man. He made it

(36:29):
to the Dodgers while his father filed for bankruptcy. Wherever
Kim goes, there is this guy that follows him around,
holds up signs, trying to get Kim to pay the
debt for his father. Under Korean law, kids are not
legally obligated to repay debts incurred by living parents. I
don't know if that's a law anywhere quite frankly, I mean,

(36:52):
I guess kids could help, just like parents could help
if kids ran up debts. The man travels around the
country chance he gets and keep saying that basically Kim
should pay for his father. Do you think your hands
are clean after ripping me off and humiliating your son?

(37:12):
I mean, that's awful. That is awful. And the guy continues.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
They got security around Kim and his dad every anywhere.
Who knows what this guy is gonna do. We don't
know the realist alleged debt that he owes this guy
or whatever, or is it real? You know how much
details it is to it, But that's not okay that
he shows up and at you know what's he been
in Korea for a day after the World Series, basically,

(37:38):
and this guy is bullying and badgering and harassing his son.
That ain't okay.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Guy goes online, attacks Kim, attacks his father, has gone
to baseball stadiums where Kim is playing. Hung banners tell
your father to pay back mister Kim's money. I just
think that's cruel. I don't under stand at rationale or
that thinking. I don't know the problem that mister Kim

(38:06):
got into problems and what he owes, but this guy
follow him around, seems like a stalker and seems like
somebody who's really troubled.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
It is a stalker. That's why I asked about security.
They'd better security around him, you know, And I sung Kim,
you know, going back to Korea, it might end up
being dangerous. Who knows what kind of you know, state
this guy's in. If he's willing to do all those
things and he basically stalk him, who knows what he's
capable of. So hopefully they that they have security close

(38:42):
by or around just in case, because you never know,
you're always here about you know. Weird, crazy disturbing stories
like this where someone or somebody takes it too far.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
I'll tell you one thing, if son had considered contributing
and helping his father's debt, if he had after hearing
what this guy's been doing, I wouldn't give him a penny,
not a penny. I wouldn't even think twice about it.
Humiliating his son into paying him is awful.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
Might turn it around and see him.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
And I don't know what the law there is, but
it's certainly harassment. Yeah, it's not his debt, and for
him to do that, and you know, it's interesting people
that do that kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Rodney.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Also, oftentimes encounter situations are not really expecting, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
If somebody keeps.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Doing something like that, following somebody around, harassing him like that,
making a public spectacle themselves, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Sometimes things happen to him, Yes he do, Yes they do.
Better be careful. Can't do that. Better be careful, Fred,
Like you said, there's gonna be some consequences and repercussions.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
There needs to be a better way to handle that.
So I feel badly for everybody involved there, his dad, him,
not the nut, the chasing him around with signs, guy
lands in town, people are asking him about one of
the world's series and they're the guy is standing right there.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
It happened.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
This happened at the airport, believe it or not. So
they did get security to kind of escort the guy away,
But it sounds like every time he turns around, the
guy standing there making a spectacle of himself.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
I'm just saying, sometimes things happen to people like that.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
And then today's world, you got to be very very
careful and you can't you can't take anything lightly because
you don't know the state of someone who's in that mode,
or the guy's desperate or whatever it may be. But
for him to go to those lights he is, he's
got to be considered a threat today.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Three we love the memories of World Series Game seven

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
