(00:03):
All right, we go Fred Roganand Rodney Peach on a five to seventy
LA Sports one hour fours today.Rodney get to the point of the sprint.
Yeah yeah, another sprint for it, kind of like Noah Lyles that's
in those blocks right in about anine nine seven nine right by now Yeah
(00:24):
yeah, yeah, I'd say it'sfairy. Say it's fair. All right?
How's keeping off the top? Julytwenty second, now to three?
Where will you be? I knowwhere will be? Where will you be?
You need to be at Hollywood Park. Here's why we've got things to
give away, tickets to a baseballgame and more. First fifty people who
(00:45):
sign up will receive a spot andhave access to special prizes. And another
reason why you need to be thereis because Austin Barnes will be there with
us. Barnesy and I want toget there early. Make sure you're there
early. Austin Barnes will join theshow live in Hollywood Park. We pointed
it out yesterday. The last twoshows have been basically sold out. You
(01:08):
do need to get there early. When Key k a Hernanadiz was there,
people got there at eight thirty inthe morning. Yeah, go on until
noon. Yeah, light around thebuilding, you lit around the building.
A lot of women in that linetoo. For Kiki absolutely, yeah,
favorite and big crowd for Bruce dargraderol as well, Yes, yes,
yes, and Barnesy Barnesy been thereforever too. You know sometimes if you
(01:30):
look up me, aren't s beenwith the team? What gotta be a
pushing nine year ten years? Almostbeen here a long time, Rodney.
Yes, So Austin Barnes is ourspecial guest. We will be at Hollywood
Park. Write it down July twentysecond. If you want to be assured
as see and even a better chanceon some of those great prizes, go
(01:51):
to our social media account today infive to seventy LA Sports and you will
have that opportunity. And we lookforward to seeing you all Right, last
night, what can you really say? The thing I think you have to
say is now where you're getting concernedabout Bobby Miller and Rodney. I don't
think it's an unfair question. No, it's not that I was almost almost
(02:13):
getting ready to call you last night. Because we're getting to that point where
the fred meter wrote, you knowmeter, the panic meter, the panic
meter starts to come into play wherebasically mid July and when you go back,
and we talked about it a lotyesterday. This is a litmus test
(02:35):
or is this a litmus test? When you stack up against the best in
the East in terms of the NationalLeague, you want to see where you
are. Well, if that wasan indication of where the Dodgers are,
they're in trouble. They're in trouble. But I don't think that's indication of
where exactly the Dodgers are. Look, you gotta we're running down, but
you got to factor into the equationall of the injuries that and then I
(03:00):
know the Phillies are going through theirsas well, but they did get their
guys back for yesterday's game, andwe're we're still trying to work some guys
back through. You still got guysout. I know you can't. You
can't continue Fred to make that excusemuch longer. You're gonna have to start
playing. And if you if itmeans without guys in the lineup, you
(03:23):
know it is what it is.You know what they say, next man
up, And that's the way you'regonna have to play, because sooner or
later you're gonna play what you gotand I know we got a deadline coming
up, but yesterday was Yesterday wasa was a tough one. Only I
think it was compounded Freddy because BobbyMiller struggled again. That's what to me
(03:46):
made it a little bit concerning. Is he struggled again. Well, look,
they didn't hit. Dodgers didn't hitall right, So that's one thing.
But you know that feast or famine, the one thing you can't have
is your issue. Don't want no, but that's what they have been.
Unfortunately. Yeah, that's what they'vedone and they'll probably continue to be that
(04:10):
way. Your only hope is thatwhen it really matters, there's more,
there's more feasts and famine. Butthe concern is Bobby Miller, and the
concern now is Tyler Glass. Now, Bobby Miller has not looked good since
coming back from the injury. Hejust has it. No, And you
can sugarcoat it, you can sayyou're rooting form, we're rooting for him,
but he hasn't looked good. AndI can't remember who was on,
(04:32):
Maybe it was Jerry Harrison that wastalking about, all right, he's lost
a little a little mustard on theold fastball after the arm injury. So
now pitch placement is critical. Yeah. Now I mentioned that, I talked
about that because the oral was mentionedthat on the other program that was it.
Yeah, yeah, that it's youcan sacrifice, well, you should
sacrifice a mile an hour here,a mile an hour there if that means
(04:57):
that you're hitting your spots. Butif you're trying to throw ninety nine and
you're missing your spots and you're throwingit right down the middle, that's when
you're gonna have real trouble. Andthat's what's happening to Bobby Miller. Yeah,
it was really ugly. It wasreally ugly last night. I felt,
you know, he gets paid,he's a big boy. I felt
badly for him. Yeah, Ifelt badly because you know, as intense
(05:18):
as he is, you just thinkhe might explode. Yeah, seriously,
he just might explode. That's howit ends. He is. Yeah,
and you know, David I sayI said that about both those guys,
him Embueler, that sometimes they goout and they try too hard. I'm
gonna correct this because in my pastand my memory of the highlight reels for
(05:41):
you know, saves me highlight reelsfor Rodney Pete, is that I can
blow people away. I can mowhim down with my fastball, and that's
what I'm gonna go back to ifI ever get in trouble. And both
those guys have tried to fall backon that, and when you try too
hard that way, it's like,I'm gonna go back to old faithful Well.
A pitch that's a little bit onthe corner and inside low turns out
(06:03):
to be a pitch that's belt high, right over the middle of the plate,
and big league hitters ain't gonna missthat one, and I gonna miss
it. And that's the that's theproblem he's got to It's more of a
I think it's more of a mentalthing now Fred for him than anything else,
because those guys sometimes you're telling youknow, you're a high velocity guy.
(06:24):
You want to keep that up,instead of I need this pitch to
be in the perfect location, SoI'm gonna take a little off to put
it in the location, And thatwas what Oral was kind of alluding to.
Well, Dave Roberts was not shyand his critique of the contest last
night, I'm shell shocked. Yougotta make pitches, that's the bottom line.
When do you hear Dave Roberts saythat I'm shell shocked. Yeah,
(06:48):
I mean that that was a directhit. Yeah. And you know,
with the with the technology nowadays, you can see that real time almost you
know. I'm sure they go overit and they're looking at it him my
prior looking at these things, goingafter the Indian is over and saying,
look, let's analyze these sequence ofsequence of pitches. And then they look
(07:09):
at it and go and it allsupposed to be inside, It all supposed
to be up. We're supposed tokeep that ball down and outside, and
that's not what we're getting. Andso when they look at that, it's
like, you gotta hit your spots. Getting your spots is bigger and more
important than your velocity or even thebreak on your on your off speed pitches.
(07:30):
Getting your location is the most importantthing. Got to remember that they
were counting on Bobby Miller in therotation. I mean he was going to
be one of those tent poles, okay, and to be field a tent
pole, oh no, not atadpole, one of the foundational pieces.
Okay. If we're being honest rightnow, if we're sitting in the Dodger
(07:53):
front office discussing this, I thinkeverybody looks at each other and goes,
we don't know what's going to happen. We need him to come around,
but we're not wagering on him comingaround right now. It's going to take
time, all right. So that'sone. So now you have an issue.
Now you look at each other andgo, Okay, we don't know
about Walker Buller. We don't know. Maybe it's going to take him longer
(08:20):
to come back from the procedure.Certainly in his first go round he wasn't
Walker Bueller. Can't he get backto being that? We hope, We
hope, but we don't know. Now we look at Yamamoto, who we
spent three hundred and twenty five milliondollars for. Boy, I'll say,
after he learned to pitch in themajors, he was what we hoped he
(08:43):
would be. Great. Now he'shurt. Is he going to be able
to come back this year and pitchthe same way? We hope. So
then we have Clayton Kershaw. Okay, we knew we wouldn't have him until
after the All Star break. Weknew that. But wait a minute,
(09:07):
there are some delays now in himcoming back. Maybe he's not feeling as
good as he hoped he would,So we don't know. We're not sure.
Tyler glasnow he's nine inning shy ofpitching the most endings he ever has
in a season, nine inning shyalready. Oh, now we have to
(09:30):
put him on the AEL. Wehave to put him on the al.
Is he going to be okay? We've already asked him to do more than
he's ever done before, but nowhe needs a break. He's on the
IL. Is he going to beokay? So, now as you look
at the Dodger rotation, you know, the dream, the hope is that
(09:58):
everybody is what you think thought theywould be. The truth is everybody now
and it's not like everybody doesn't,but everybody now is dinged up, dealing
with something not quite as sharp. And it doesn't matter if you have Otani
and Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman,if you have any pitching. You know
(10:22):
what happens in the playoffs, becausewe've seen that movie and we know how
it plays out. So if you'relooking at this objectively and going, we
just don't know, we can't feelreal secure in any of it. Now
you've got to say we do haveto make a move for a starter,
and you know what, the tradedeadline. It's always good to get that
(10:45):
guy, that guy that's the stopper, that guy that can shut it down.
And you look for that guy everygo round. It's a question of
whether you find him or not.And if you find him, is he
going to work for you this yearwhen you need him. But if that's
the case, Rodney, all ofa sudden, you might say, maybe
(11:05):
we have to overpay, Maybe wewe do need this help, and if
somebody wants to hold our feet tothe fire a little bit, maybe maybe
we gotta do it because we justdon't know what's gonna happen. Yeah,
I mean, a lots of unpackright there and then. And it uh
(11:28):
interesting that we just talked about TyderGlasnal being that guy, being that stopper,
being that go to guy when youneed it, you gotta have it.
It's Tyder Glasnal. He's proven thatin the first part of the season.
Well, his last couple of outingshave not been that great, and
I'm sure part of the reason whyis that he's been a little injured and
(11:50):
he's not you know, as playersYou're not gonna come out and say that,
you know, I say about outingbecause I was I've been dealing with
stiff back. You're not gonna saythat, but I'm sure it had something
something to do with that. Buthe was the guy you were counting on.
And now, based on it andthe entry factor, you're like,
okay, that priority to get astarting pitcher, not just the starting pitcher
(12:16):
though you mentioned Fred. You gottaget a guy. But the problem is,
is there a guy out there that'sgonna be available? Is there a
guy? And at this point,I don't know if that's the guy.
And and even if you think that'sthe guy, doesn't mean it's gonna work
out. There's other guys they broughtin that we thought, Okay, that's
the guy. At that point, you darbish was the guy it was.
(12:39):
He was the guy that they lookedat and said, look, he's gonna
put us over the edge. He'sthat extra arm, he's that starter,
he's that guy that can get usto the Promised Land. And they did
get to the World Series, butwe all remember that Game seven, Max
Schurzer was the guy. Gotta gethim, got him? You having a
(13:00):
dead arm, you know, soyou just don't know which is always,
I mean, which the better routeis always going with the guys that got
you there if you can. Butwe just don't know because the entry factor,
and that's that's becoming more and moreconcerning as we moved through through July.
(13:22):
Here, Freddie, all right,so Garrett Crochet, the kid from
the White Sox, he could verywell be that guy Andy's got club control,
which is perfect, which is somethingyou want. And let's for argument's
sake say he could be that guyRodney. But given his contract situation,
(13:43):
that is going to cost you anawful lot more than it cost you to
get you Darbish or Max Schurzer andTrey Turner. That's going it cost because
they want to rebuild and that's theirasset, that everything, that's that chip
they can play, that's the card. And if they push that in,
(14:03):
they're all in. Their chips arein the middle. We got to start
rebuilding. So what does it costfor him? It would cost war there
to cast you for you, Darverge. I really believe that. Well another
thing too, Fred, You knowRodney was talking about nothing's to guarantee.
The problem with Crochet. Yes he'syoung, Yes, he's under team control,
he's two years removed from Tommy John, He's already surpassed his career high
(14:26):
in innings, so those no guaranteehe's gonna be able to hold up either.
So now you're talking about treating awaya bunch of top prospects for a
kid who's been great so far.But who's to say he even holds up.
So there's a risk involved in thattoo, That's my point. That's
it's all a crapshoot. Sure thehell, let's just blindly roll the dice,
Freddy the world we're doing. Let'sjust blindly roll the dice. Yeah,
(14:48):
this is blindly roll the dice.Man, as you don't know,
You really don't know, you know. And then let's be realistic. How
what are your expectations for Kershaw comesback for Clayton Kershaw? I mean,
what if you're out there thinking aboutKershaw and yes, he's not Clayton Kershaw
(15:09):
of you know, twenty twelve, but he's still a quality pitcher, can
give you quality innings. He maynot be able to go complete games anymore,
but he certainly can be effective. How effective, we just don't know.
And when he does come back ishe going to be durable enough to
hold up? So those are thoseare the questions. And and look,
(15:31):
the Dodgers are not the only teamthat has to go through this. You
know, a lot of teams aregoing through this same situation, this similar
situation. I think it affects usbecause the Dodgers did spend a lot of
money in the off season and youwould have hoped and look, a win
today over the Phillies changes everything.Yeah, it just changes the mindset.
They go out and beat the Philliesand he and if they beat them handily,
(15:54):
then you're like, oh, okay, all is good in Dodger Land.
That's how that's how crazy the baseballis in sports in general. Yeah,
the thing to remember is this, you know, don't get too up,
don't get too down. We saidit from the beginning of the year.
I'm not hitting any panic button yet, but I think if you are
a fan, and I assure you, despite the fact we're not in there,
(16:18):
the Dodgers are now taking a hardlook at what they're gonna do pitching
wise. The argument can always bemade go out and get somebody, but
it didn't seem like it was anecessity it'd be a nice addition. Yeah,
if we bring one big arm inhere, a guy that can go
for us into playoffs and give usseven innings and keep the door shut on
(16:41):
him, that's a plus because wehave so much talent. But now it's
just a question of who's healthy andwhen they are healthy, how effective will
they be. I gotta tell you, Rodney, you bring up Clayton Kershaw,
Yeah, I don't think if heis able to come back, if
I don't think he's going to becy young Kershaw. And if he is
(17:04):
able to come back for how longand how effective will he be? Yeah?
I mean that's the crapshoot, right. I think you gotta almost look
at him as a he's a bonusfor you. He's a bonus, and
you use him sparingly, you usehim as much as he can go.
But I think more importantly, yougotta get Glass now back rebbed up and
(17:30):
ready to go. And you reallygot to figure out what's going on with
Bobby Miller and how to get himgoing, and and and Walker Bueller.
I just I, like I said, I think Kersh when he's when he
can get it going, he cangive you that he's there's no bigger competitor
than Clayton Kershaw, so he gonnagive you everything he's got. You just
(17:52):
wonder how long and how effective that'sgoing to be for him. That's why
I say, you know what, what you do get from him is gonna
be a bonus. All right, let's have a word from Jacob. Hey,
if you were recently injured in anaccident, but haven't called our friend
Jacob yet, what are you waitingfor? Not taking an accident make cost
(18:17):
you money? Okay, so whatdoes that mean. Let's say you were
injured in a car accident a fewmonths ago. You thought the pain in
your back would go away, soyou never went to go see a doctor.
But now a few months later,it's getting worse each week. The
problem is, because it's been afew months since the accident, it is
much more difficult to prove that yourback pain was caused by the accident.
(18:40):
Therefore, you'll probably have to payfor this yourself. Don't put yourself in
that situation. If you're injured inan accident, called Jacob immediately. You'll
get you to the doctor with nomoney out of pocket, so you can
physically recover quickly and not have topay for it yourself. When you call
an attorney, you want the onewho was respected. You call Jacob.
He's the real deal, and rememberthe consultation is free. Called Jacob at
eight four four to twenty four Jacobeight four four twenty four Jacob, or

Dodgers and Phillies in Philadelphia. Firstpitch four oh five. You'll hear every
play of every Dodger game on AMfive seventy LA Sports and stream all games
(19:26):
and HD and the iHeartRadio app.The keyword is A in five seventy LA
Sports. It's powered by LA Carefor all of LA and the message for
all of LA. Now yeah kawainew uh huh yeah. Come on a
(19:47):
quick spread for us today one hourshow Rodney p. Fred Rogan. Let's
go all right A reminder July twentysecond, We're at Hollywood Park. Austin
Barnes will be there first. Fiftypeople to sign up reserve a spot to
have access to special prizes like ticketsto a baseball game. And more so
sign up on our social media accounts. At a five seventy LA Sports,
(20:10):
Paul George made News, went onhis podcast. He basically talked about the
inner workings of his negotiations with theClippers. I said, still say you
can disagree they picked the wrong guy. I would have signed Paul George,
and I'd say it's about forty sixtywith me. Sixty percent say they would
have signed Kawhi. We know fromwhat Paul George said. They signed Kawhi,
(20:34):
and he basically said, I wantthe same deal. Hook us up
and we're good to go. Thenthe Clippers or someone released a statement where
Paul George had said no some timeago, Kawhi is number one. I'm
number two, and that would probablyto do a little damage control because you
never hear about the inner workings ofClipper negotiations. In any eventI caned,
(21:00):
and by the way, Kawhi isout on USA Basketball. Yes he's out.
Yeah he's out. Uh. Heconfirmed that. Yeah, he and
Paul George both knew they were up. He said they spoke before last season.
He said he had no idea howPaul George's contract negotiations would go and
(21:25):
said he was not surprised that PaulGeorge left. Now, let me ask
you this. You never mess withanother man's money. We got that.
You know, you're always paid withthe market will bear sometimes more, sometimes
less, and you get what youcan. They try not to leave money
on the table. But if theseguys were as close as we might think
(21:45):
they were, and certainly the teamwas built around them, Kawhi never would
have come if it wasn't for PaulGeorge, because he basically said, go
get Paul George or I'm not coming. So the Clippers traded away what turned
out to be the Oklahoma City Thunder. Pretty good young team. Do you
think, Rodney, given that theyboth know what's happening before the season,
(22:07):
maybe they have a conversation and say, hey, I don't you know,
you don't have to be specific withme. I don't need to be specific
with you. But why don't wego in there and say, you know,
we're we're a package deal. Yougot to take care of both of
us, but you don't get onewithout the other. Was that a bad
idea? Was that a wrong idea? Rodney? Are you suggesting that happen?
(22:33):
No, I'm suggesting shouldn't they havedone that? Should they have done
that? Yeah, Look, ithappens. Yes, it happens in negotiation,
not just in sports and everything thatyou go in. If you have
that kind of cloud and that kindof power, maybe they could have done
that together and it may have beena smart move. That only is if
(22:59):
Paul, George and Kawhi we're willingto settle in on a number. You
know, sometimes there's one if there'sone guy that's got more or has played
long or has made bigger contracts andsay, look, you know, I
made forty million dollars for the lasteight years, so I can I can
live with taking a haircut, Andthe other guy is like, no,
(23:22):
this this is a chance for meto really cash in. I don't want
to take a haircut. If thoseguys can't agree, then it makes it
very difficult, But it's not outof the realm. For those two together,
say eight, let's go for fiftya year and do four years.
That's what Paul wanted. He wantedthe fourth year, or he wanted the
same thing as Kawhi. Okay,so let's just say it's three years,
(23:42):
three years, one hundred and fiftymillion, dollars. Let's just both agree
on that that they come to bothof us with that deal, we'll both
signed. But it feels like theyor however it leaked because we know about
leaks that you know, Paul Georgewanted the same as Kawhi, and because
(24:03):
he leaked at Kawhi was number one, he didn't deserve the same as Kawhi.
You know. That's kind of howit's being played a little bit,
which is probably not not even thecase, but it's like, hey,
okay, we're one A and oneone in one A play, you know,
pay me the same housetay, whichI think the Clipper should have done.
(24:26):
I'm shocked they didn't. Yeah,I think I think they signed the
wrong guy. Pretty simple, Nodisrespect Kawhi. And you say, well,
Paul George has played a little morethan Kawhi, but when Kawhi plays,
he's more consistent than Paul George.I'm taking a guy that's available a
(24:47):
little more to me, is alot more in this situation, and maybe
he's not the same player as Kawhi, but he plays more. That's why
I'm picking. Pretty simple. Iwant the guy to de aveil. This
is not one hundred and sixty twoDodger schedule where okay, we'll we'll pick
(25:07):
you up, you know in April, Well we'll get you, we'll get
you in March. You just kindof cruise along and then by March,
you know, we'll we'll throw youin there. No, the NBA is
different. I want the guy thatcan play. And I also think it's
interesting, uh that that did leakout about Paul George stating that, you
know, Kauhi is number one,I'm number two. You address that yesterday,
(25:30):
Rodney. Yeah, that got outfor a reason. I think the
Clippers were embarrassed that it went theway it did and Paul George said what
he did. I think they wereembarrassed because that's not how they are embarrassed
that that that got out, orthat it leaked, or embarrassed that Paul
George said it out loud. PaulGeorge said it out loud. Yeah,
(25:53):
I think that's that. That's whatbothered him. Yeah, yeah, that
he came out and said, well, let me tell you exactly what happened.
Everybody wants to be on me becausethey traded an awful lot to get
me, and now I'm leaving allright, Well, let me tell you
what happened now is that the truth? Does the truth lie in the middle?
I don't know, but it soundedpretty convincing. The story Paul George
(26:17):
told sounded pretty convincing. It did. I can buy that, and it
sounded like it's a pretty reasonable theway a conversation would go down, right.
You know, I know they don'tspeak publicly a lot, but they
can be honest. Rob Polink hastalked about the Second Apron. It's been
the big story last couple of offseasons. I know that the Clippers,
(26:37):
if they were to resign both ofthose guys to similar contracts with that much
money, they'd be a second Apronteam for multiple seasons. They'd lose draft
picks. They have number one pickget moved all the way to the back
of the line, and they're fora team that hasn't had any picks for
a long period of time. That'sa huge punitive, you know, punishment
for them. So maybe that's somethingthey don't want to do. You could
easily say, you know what, considering the financial landscape, we had to
(26:59):
pick one, and we chose torow with Kawhi. We offered Paul Georgia.
We thought was a reasonable contract. He decided that was not the case.
We simply cannot afford to with thechanging landscape in the NBA, we
can't afford to compensate both of thoseguys at what they were asking for,
So we had to move in adifferent direction. Would anybody but grudge them
if they set that? Would nowanybody not understand that? If they set
that, I understand it. Yeah, I'd understand that. I understand it,
(27:23):
but I would still be angry.Yeah, some fans are still somewhat
if you want to use the wordunreasonable, whatever you want to use.
Yeah, they still say you're printingmoney. You're Steve Balmer, You're the
richest owner in sport. Why can'tyou So I get that part of it.
Way those guys. The whole pointwas to bring those two guys together
and win a championship, and nowyou're you're not going to because everybody would
(27:48):
point to the Dodgers. Dodgers beendifferent leagues, different different way they do
business, but they would point theDodge Dodgers. They go for it and
you had a chance. Yeah, listen, it hasn't worked the way we
wanted to wanted to work these lastfour years. But we still are banking
on these two while they're still relativelyyoung, are still relatively well. Couhi's
(28:10):
on the serious back nine. Anybodybe on the back three, but Paul
George has still got a lot oflife and a lot of gas in that
tank. We expect you guys tokeep those guys together until they can't play
anymore. If this was a caseof paying what they want, just pay
everybody what they want, Steve Palmerwould not blank. It's not even an
issue. He doesn't care you payany million dollars a year. He would
(28:33):
that's not the issue here. Theproblem and you already know it, but
don't forget it is the way therules are written. Now. Yeah,
he can pay everybody everything. That'sgreat, except when you do that,
now you've screwed yourself because the penaltiesare so severe for doing that, you
(28:56):
basically can't fix your team, can'ttrade for players as you could in the
past. You can't make moves toimprove because you are so far over and
you've spent so much money, whichwould mean you can do that. He
could do it, but that betterdann Well guarantee Kawhi won't get hurt.
(29:17):
Paul George won't get hurt, JamesHarden won't get hurt. Everybody on the
Clippers will stay healthy, and they'llwin because if they win, it doesn't
matter. They don't have to makeany moves. They're fine and correct me
if I'm wrong, Kevin. It'snot just about you know, Balmer can
afford it, and he can justpay it because he can. He's got
more money than anybody at LEAD.It affects this new situation. It affects
(29:41):
draft picks, It affects things thatyou can do in the future. So
it's not just about writing a checkanymore. Yeah, So it's a freend's
point. There's certain trades that you'renot allowed to make under the CBA if
you were a second apron team.If you're a second Apron team, I
believe two out of three years orthree out of four years, which they
would be by the way, ifthey resigned. Both those guys your draft
picks. No matter how you finishthe season. Let's say if you finished
and you would have the fifteenth pick, well, because you're a second Apron
(30:03):
team, two out of three years, your pick has moved all the way
to the back of the line thatbecomes twenty nine or thirty. That's a
huge difference. Obviously, these aresevere, punitive damages that you have to
deal with. So while right nowit will look great, we still have
Paul Jordan Kauhi, we're chasing thetitle. You're really really putting yourself behind
the eight ball in the future.Yeah, you've got to be sure,
and you can't. But if youcould, you gotta be sure they're gonna
(30:26):
win, And how could you beconsidering their track record. You can't.
That's what I'm saying. You can'tdo it. So when people say Rodney,
you know, you point out, well, the Dodgers would spend money.
Let me tell you, so wouldSteve Balmer. Yeah, don't even
question that. That's not an issue. But if you do that, you're
hurt. It just the way they'veconstructed this to give everybody a chance,
(30:47):
which I personally hate, but togive everybody a chance, you are destroying
yourself going forward. Yeah, theplan here is very much like the NFL.
In the NFL, you can turnaround one year. You can do
that. It's happened. Catch lightningin a bottle. A couple of your
draft picks play everybody stays healthy. All of a sudden, your quarterback's hot
(31:07):
and you turn it around. Theleague loves that. They love parody.
Parody means more people involved, Parodymeans more interest. Parody can increase television
ratings because you don't really know what'sgoing to happen. I prefer a world
of villains. I like people thatyou root against. I like whoever's the
best team. I'm rooting against them. Now they have to carry that,
(31:30):
they have to wear that, butthey've also earned the right to wear that
because they are the best. Andthe more they win, the more you
hate them because you just hate thembecause they're not your team. That's how
I look at things. But ifyou're an owner, you want parody.
That's what you really want, becausethen everybody benefits from it. Everybody profits
from it. Everybody's got a chance. You don't want to be the team
(31:52):
out of it. You don't wantto be that team. You're done,
you're out. You don't want tobe in the NBA. You have the
first the year and basically you gotno hope. That's why they created the
playing tournament, just to increase interestand also generate more television revenue. So
that's why these penalties are now inplace. The rich will not get richer,
(32:13):
the strong will not get stronger. We just won't allow it anymore.
That's why they're here. Do youthink the owners like that? Yeah?
You did? Are you owners likethat? They wouldn't, well, mobo
bo blaho. Do I think SteveBomber likes it? No? No?
Do I think the owner of theCharlotte Hornets likes it? Yes? Yeah?
(32:34):
Do I think the owners im portandlike it? Yes? Do I
think the owners of the Bulls becausethey've just mangled that thing so badly?
Probably? Yes, But I doI think the warriors like it? No,
if you have money and want towin, you don't like it.
But if you don't have money, now you have a chance to win.
So yes, that's what I think. Yeah, And I'm sure there's the
(33:00):
owners that have the money that wantto win and do anything and pay whatever
tax are in the minority, rightthen they're businesses. Yeah. Do I
think the owners of the seventy sixers, the guys Josh Harris who now
owns the Redskins with Magic, Yeah? Do I think he cares about going
over the second No? I thinkhe'll spend whatever it takes. I think
(33:23):
he would go for it. DoI think the owners of the Pistons would
go for it? No? No, I think they go for it in
Salt Lake City. No. DoI think the Mavericks would for a chance.
Yes? Yeah. Do I thinkthey would do it in Oklahoma City?
No? Do I think they woulddo it? So? Yeah,
(33:47):
So you've got a discrepancy about that. Some owners want and love the parody,
and that the fact that you canturn it around in one year,
which I think is great too.I really do think that if in sports
you don't want to see a teamthat is bad be bad for ten years,
you want to give the fan baseand that's you know, and I
(34:10):
think most most owners would feel thatway. Just not just don't handcuff me
if I want to spend my money. All right, let's have a word
from Jacob. If you're recently injuredin an accident, you've not called our
(34:30):
friend Jacob yet. What are youwaiting for? Not taking the action may
cost your money? What does thatmean? Let's say you're injured in a
car accident a few months ago.You thought the pain in your back would
go away, so you never wentto see a doctor. But now a
few months later, it's getting worseeach week. The problem is because it
has been a few months since theaccident, it's much more difficult to prove
that your back pain was caused bythat accident. Therefore, you'll probably have
(34:52):
to pay for this yourself. Anddo not put yourself in this situation.
Please, if you're injured in anaccident, called Jake up immediately. He'll
get you to the doctor with nomoney out of your pocket so you can
physically recover quickly and not have topay it for it yourself. When you
call him attorney you want one whois respected. Call Jacob. He's the
(35:13):
real deal, and remember the consultationis free. Call him eight four four
twenty four Jacob eight four four twentyfour Jacob, Or visit called Jacob dot
com and make sure you're following calledJacob on Instagram. Go to that called
out Jacob for great advice, prizesand a lot more Dodgers and Phillies.
(35:36):
Today in Philadelphia, First Pitch atfour oh five, listen to every play
of every Dodger game, and AMfive seventy LA Sports live from the Gallpin
Motors Broadcast Booth and stream all gamesin HD and the iHeartRadio app. The
keyword is AM five to seventy LaSports. Uh, there'll be along to
wrap it up with a Haig coup. Wenday, Friday Night, Thursday Night,
(35:59):
Friday Night one went, Thursday onewin Friday. All right, here
we go, and then they wereback winding is down on a short show
today Dodgers in Philadelphia. Hopefully theycan put yesterday behind them and get back
on track and get back to thewinning ways and show those boys from the
city of brotherly love what we doout here in La Freddy yep. Well,
(36:22):
the man that will inspire them willprovide the high coup, the inspiration.
And that man who said he hadan inspirational high coup for the Dodgers
yesterday ain't had nothing to do withbaseball is Victor Brigg So Vic, good
afternoon. He's got front row seatsfor the Rolling Stones tonight at sofar fred
(36:44):
Rogan, No, I don't,but not a bad idea, Vic,
I don't you don't the Stones Stones. That's so far Wow, I hear
you. That's big. It's onlyrock and roll and he likes it.
(37:07):
Rodney Pete, Damn right, Ido Whenever the Stones come to town,
they just elevate the energy. I'veseen him about ten times and it's just
a it's a great feeling when theStones on the town, they play a
(37:29):
couple a couple of dates. That'sso far, that's gonna be rocking,
man, that's gonna be rocking. At so far he believes Hold is Mick
Jagger. Now he is exactly eightyOkay, exactly eighty. That's amazing and
(37:59):
still the rate a live band workingtoday after sixty years as a band.
He will turn eighty one on Julytwenty sixth. That's crazy. Although I
will say this, I will saythis, and I've learned this recently.
Here we go no, no,and I'm serious about this, and I
(38:19):
didn't know it. Do you thinkeighties old? Honestly? Not anymore?
Okay? Now, witnessing would Ihave no, Because witnessing would I have.
The last couple of months, peoplethat are eighty do not act whatever
you think eighty is, or lookwhatever you think eighty is. They're pretty
(38:43):
vibrant. And I had no idea. Yeah, and I'm not just making
that up. It's like I'm eightyfour, eighty four really yeah, Yeah,
so I don't know if whatever thedefinition of eighty is, I don't
think it ain't what it used tobe. It ain't close to what it
used to be. I'm saying,way, Freddy, I mean, you're
you're you. You got dropped intoground zero. That is one of the
(39:13):
funniest lives. But you're right though, it doesn't. It's not the same
way. It's not what we thoughtit was growing up. Oh eighty,
Oh my god, I start gettingthat plot ready. No, people are
out walking, they're looking good.I love it. They're climbing the Himalays
ground zero. Yes, they're swimmingwith the sharks. No, nobody's swimming
(39:39):
with sharks. Everybody's getting eaten vicNo, Yeah, what's that about.
Sharks are hungry? You know whatit is. It's shark week, guys,
It's shark week. Fred isn't care. Well, I do care,
but I was just thinking a sharkweek, yeah, for for people swimming
(40:00):
with the sharks. But doesn't itfeel like there's more shark attacks this last
year than there's ever been. There'sbeen a lot lately, a lot.
They don't go in the guy atdude, the surfer guy, you know,
Yeah, well someone asked, areyou afraid of sharks? I have
nothing to be afraid of until theyget legs and start walking. I'm good
(40:22):
for you to go out there anddo take surf lessons. Ken a lot
of us to get in the water. I'll put my I put my feet
into the ocean and do all that. It's fine. But you asked me
to start swimming out, you know, miles down to this. It's not
happening. Absolutely not. We don'tbelong there. No swimming pool. You're
not jumping out in the ocean. No, we don't belong there. Well,
(40:45):
Fred had an experience with a jellyfish. It makes sense he has PTSD,
so I get it. No,I'm just saying, does a shark
belong in our front at our frontdoor? No, shark doesn't belong there.
We don't. We don't belong atthe sharks front door. But listen,
for all the answers are in theocean. You know that I've been
preaching that the years. All theanswers are in the ocean. There are
(41:07):
no answers, A lot of answersfor Red. What are the questions for
the ocean? Vic? Well?Number one, I would study the lifespan
of the shark. The shark doesnot get cancer. Why is that?
There is something in the sharks makeupthat is that is just unbelievable. I
(41:30):
believe the history of the sea. They were studying the sharks to figure that
out. There was a movie thatthey were studying sharks to figure out why,
you know, why they don't getcancer and trying to figure out their
DNA or their blood type or whateveris going on, help, you know,
help cure cure cancer. Cancer. But you're absolutely right, vick I
(41:51):
bekid wouldn't name it. That moviewas Sam Jackson was in it and he
got eaten by a shark. Meg, of course he did. Meg.
No, it wouldn't Meg. Itwouldn't Meg. It was before Meg.
It was uh C. I thinkit was called Oh yeah, yeah,
Sam Jackson gets eating ll was inthat too. Yeah, Sam gets eat
(42:13):
by the shark. He's a bigtime scientist and he spent a lot of
money for the research. I'm surehe didn't go on an exploitive rate of
laced tire rate on his way downwas coming at him. Yeah enough,
is he enough? He did afull snakes on a plane rant, you
know, with the chart sham Jacksonshould be in every single movie he is.
(42:34):
Didn't get killed in the Jurassic Park. Wasn't he in that too?
He got he buy a rafter orsomething? Yep, he sure did smoking
a cigarette. Well there's the question. You know him, Rodney, when
you see him, ask him howmany movies have you been killed in or
eating? Yeah? And he's onthe water all the time, so he's
(42:57):
not afraid of sharks. Kevin, and he was eaten by one. Yeah,
it'll, it'll, it'll help.Vic. That only works for the
great white shark. Vic, that'swhat I learned on Shark Week. Ah,
yes, certain, come on tojust hit the shark in the nose.
(43:21):
It'll run away. Punch with greatwhite in the nose and he'll run
away. But you have the makoshark. Make a shark will bite your
hand clean off. I mean, the shark is eating you. Let me
hit you in the nose. Thatwill help before he has the chance to
get to you. Fred, Butyour arm is too short. You don't
have a chance. So what areyou gonna do? Swim up, hit
him in the nose and make himgo away. No, you don't swim
(43:42):
up to his shark. Fred comesin and attacks you. If the shark
is close enough to attack you,Yes, how are you gonna hit him
in the You know what? Whenyou see death flashing before your eyes,
Fred, you'll figure out a way. Yeah, Fred, what are you
gonna do? Rub his belly?Don't eat me, mister shark before we
(44:04):
get to vic Zaiku and I knowwe have to go. Yeah. Major
League Baseball offense has been eating BobbyMiller alive. He got eaten by a
shark last night. Some news justcame down, sitting down option to triple
A Bobby Miller sent down not injuredlist. Wow, sitting down. That
just came down from the Dodgers.Wow. Bobby Miller needs a high coop,
(44:25):
y'all? Does he? Ever? The pitching staffs and tatas as Jacko
would say, the pitching staff isin tactics. But here comes see Stone
later. First pitch four o'clock fromPhiladelphia right here and five seven the LA
Sports He's stone things a little bit. Bobby Miller. Yeah, that stings
(44:45):
there. They're hers. Well,we feel for Bobby'll. So it's cool
with Bobby Miller. Even after thegame last night, he answered every question.
You know, he doesn't back down. He knows he allows the outing,
and he faced. He faced themusic. Got you gotta respect,
Bobby. He'll be back. Thinkhim a haiku to make him feel better.
(45:08):
