Byron Center offense right there and Puttnham stuck him in
the hole right there. But again it's fourth and three,
very manageable. And I'll give you one.

quarterback jogging to the sideline. They're staying on schedule. Gaining

counteraction and Byron Center was all over it. Two guys

kind of fakes like he's gonna pitch it, gets vertical,
gets just enough for a first.

two wide receiver split wide, Jilli kind of out there
to get the edge. Gets a pancake block as they
go wide again. And that was the guy who had
the big run in the first series, Wendell Tomas positive
got ite across the forty and close to that first

yard line. That's been troublesome for this Byron center defense.

see just just this, they're staying with their offense, just

INTI your triple option, hit the edge, gain nine yards,

Boy, he's just a good looking kid. They ran the
inside trap that time, first time they've run that today,
pulled the guard, kicked out the three technique of Byron
centers right there and he literally went in untouched from

A big bodied wide receiver, kind of a different frame
for running back, but he is tough in there, I
mean compared to like a campaign we talked about other
backs we've seen the West Mischian area but boy, when
he gets free in that full back position, I don't
know if you're gonna run him down from behind.

The ones for two hand off to bloom Quist, they
go counteraction, I don't know if bloom Quiss got they're
gonna mark him short. So good job of the BC
defense coming up with a stop. And I think it
was big number six tape Baindridge coming up off the
bottom of that pile.

Yeah, A little surprised by that call there on the
two point play, kind of going into the interior. Last
time they ran triple out option and he really walked
in untouched, trying to get a little counteraction and up

cleans everything up in the safety position in the middle

doing a really nice job because both guards pulled toward
the short side of the field and they gave it
on the jet streep going to the white side of
the field. Good job by the defense, whatever their key

Just to see on that Bucks sweep play, you got
one guard kicking out, you got one guard leading. You
really got to kind of feel your way behind that

man just taking a step to the outside and get
some extra yardage.

can get right there. And really, I mean, this has
been the story of the game right here is Byron
Center has moved that football and it's just been as
they get into Ported Central territories where they've faltered.

when we see Pain in the hole with Chillick, it
was one on one right at the sticks and Pain
you could see his feet.

there and ran bucksweep with him. Faked the ball one way,
he kept it the other way, and it was just
it was will power versus willpower on that one.

How about his brother, a senior last year. I don't
have to remind you, coach of that playoff game, Kellen Payne.
I mean, that guy could do anything. And here's the
funny thing. He goes on and he's playing college baseball
at the University of Nevada.

Yeah, that's truly unbelievable skill set from both of these brothers.
And I guess I'm glad I didn't have to coach
against that one. This year.

They got it down the pipeline their Dada football player
the Pain family.

Now they motion out to the left hand off kneeling
and he gets knocked down. Kind of slipped a little
bit as well, but stopped in his tracks right after
he got the handoff. And on the stop that time
was Joseph Gabon, the senior. He's kind an outside backer
and coach describe a little bit for audience. It's kind
of tough to explain. So they have their down lineman
like you talked about, but they have a lot of
guys right at the line of scrimmage as well.

They sure do. In those outside linebackers right there. What
they're trying to do is they're trying to squeeze what
we call down block. So if the offensive lineman is
blocking down, they're trying to get their hands on that
guy and really ride him down and seeing what kind
of the next block comes. If it's someone from the interior,
they want to spill it and make it go to
the outside. Somebody from the next tier, they're going to
box it back into their buddies inside linebackers right there.
But it's a super unique defensive set here.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
I mean seven guys and a lot of scrimmage.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
I'm looking at as the handoff kneeling nothing doing maybe
a yard and that's it. Jillick turned him back in
making the stop. And also over the reported central that
time was Luke Ludwig, the junior linebacker.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Yeah, and how often do you see that a seven
to one box. They had seven defenders up on the
line of scrimmage one. I mean, it's nice to have
a Division one linebacker to be that one, right and
Jillick right back there and he's able to what those
seven guys do is they get their hands on all
the offensive linemen and tight ends, and really, Jillick can
run sideline of sideline, and if one defensive lineman can
get off their block, now you've got Jillick free. And

now you've got a defensive lineman free. I like the system.

And they're three deep in the secondary, come up hard
once they see it's a run.

Absolutely doing a good job filling. And this is a
big third down here for the Byron center offense.

a little bit of an afterthought with this offense in
the amount of athletes that they have out there.

how athletic he is, just weaving in and out and

a couple of soccer championships need more than just overtime
to determine winners. I'm John Ross and this is this
Week in High School Sports, powered by the Michigan Achievement Scholarship.
As a freshman, Natasha Dudek ran the ninth fastest time
in MHSAA cross country Finals history.

What she did this year as a sophomore, though, is unbelievable.
Dudek led her school and Arbor Pioneer to a Lower
Peninsula Division one team title, and then the process, ran
the fastest race in the history of the MHSAA cross
Country Finals, beating the old record by a whopping nineteen seconds.
Her time of sixteen minutes, nine and a half seconds

is well in front of the previous record holder, Rachel Forsyth,
also from Pioneer, and du Deck's older sister, Sophia, won
the twenty nineteen Division one title with a time just
over seventeen minutes, which is one of the state's top
ten fastest. Second place in Division one this year went
to Rachel Smith of Okamis, another sophomore. Her time was
also good enough to make the top ten in event history,

but it was almost one minute behind Doudeck, and du
Deck will have two more chances to break her own
record as a junior and senior in the upcoming years.

over Northville. The senior caught three passes for one hundred

a touchdown. As the defending champion, Technician started their title
defense off on the right foot and a gaylord's basin Silisbury.
He caught a game winning touchdown pass from Kelson Snyder
with twenty seconds left, giving Gaylor to thirty eight to

thirty four win over Marquette and keeping the Blue Devils
undefeated on the season.

two shoes, but how many must they have on at
the end of the race. If a runner loses one

If your shoe gets stepped on and comes off, or

gross Point Woods University Ligate. It gave Leland its first
soccer title since twenty eighteen. Jace Hanley netted the shootout
winner in Division one, giving Portage Central to win over
an Arbor here on Portage Central Goaliague gunnar Thor Halson
stopped all eleven shots he faced in regulation for the
Mustangs and got a stop in the shootout as well.

In Division two, Warren Dala South Collegiate won a second
straight title, defeating Hudsonville Unity Christian two nil. And in
Division three, Detroit Country Day beat South Haven four to one.

Rockford ten. Hutsonville got the ball the nose will drive,
had a nice drive going with then missed the forty

two yard field goal, but the Rams then picked off
a pass from Hudsonville near midfield, moved the ball down
to the one yard line eventually where Lucahearn punched it
over for a one yard score. Pat was good. Rockford
led it seven to nothing. Hutsonville march it right back
all the way down to the eight yard line, where
Braden Miller caught an eight yard pass from Brady van

Lake that tied us up at seven to seven at
the seven to forty three mark of the second quarter.
Hutsonville then took its first lead at the three twenty
nine marks of the second quarter. Brady van Lake a
beautiful forty nine yard run where he cuts to the
outside streak down the sideline. Pat was good. It was
Hudsonville fourteen, Rockford seven. But the Rams battle right back,

sparked by a fantastic forty two yard beautiful catch by
Jax eichbart Or Rockford. They got the ball down, then
the Hudsonville defense stiffened. Connor Van Austen came on and
booted a thirty four yard field goal for Rockford with
just forty one seconds left in the half. Hudsonville got

it back, but no more scoring at the half. The
score Hudsonville fourteen, Rockford ten. The winner of this game
tonight advances to the regional finals next week and takes
on the winner of tomorrow afternoons game between East Kenwood
and Howell being played at Howell High School. Now, if
Hudsonville wins tonight, the Eagles will stay at home regardless

of who wins tomorrow and Howell. If Rockford should come
back and win here tonight, the Rams would be at
home only. If East kent Wood wins tomorrow, the Rockford
