Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's holiday music station, I'm
Dana with producer Anthony and the Three Things you Need
to Know to get your Thursday, November twenty first started well.
UT is given a big gift to families. Yeah, free
tuition for families to qualify. It's their Promise Plus program.
By fall of twenty twenty five UT campuses all over Texas,

(00:23):
families making under one hundred thousand dollars a year qualify
got to be a Texas resident.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Though. Good news from Center Point.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
They've got this storm resiliency plan that they've been kind
of being involved in Phase one way ahead of schedule.
They've installed a thousand stronger storm resilient polls all over.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
They have trimmed and removed.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Two thousand power line miles of high risk vegetation. That
was one of the big problems for that long term
power outers that we had. Now Phase two will be
done in June of next year. And this is it's
a Christmas miracle. It's beautiful. Thirty seven Houston area children
will be celebrating their new homes this Christmas. YEP, they

(01:08):
were adopted, given a special ceremony. This is national adoption month,
and Robert and Andrea were among the excited parents. They
only planned to foster three year old twins Zoe and Gavin,
but they fell in love with them, wanted them to
join their three other kids, and so they're all very excited.
Maybe this is something you'd like to look into. There

(01:30):
are two hundred and fifty other children in Houston who
are living in foster care. You can find out details
at adoptus kids dot org. Well, the weather beautiful, sunny,
cool today, We're only going to go up to seventy
really is perfect. Right now, it's forty six in Uptown
and you're up to date on sunny. Tell me something

(01:51):
good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
I love this story.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Jelly Roll taken some time away from his celebrity life
to eat pizza and play basketball with some Houston area
kids who are in juvenile detention. And if you didn't know,
Jelly Roll also spent some time when he was younger
in juvenile detention, so he gets these kids now. He
was in town Sunday night performing at the Toyota Center

(02:17):
and he really wanted to come and speak with these kids.
He posted this amazing video up on his Instagram and
he says, I just love you. And he says, when
I was at a place like this, no one ever
came to talk to me and tell me that, and
eat pizza with me and play basketball with me.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
So a great guy. Good job, Jelly Roll, I love it.
Producer Anthony Dane.

Speaker 3 (02:39):

It's the Burger Joint in Taco Stan. These places sound
amazing too. Taco Stan highlights include Kesa Biria, Barbara Koa,
and the Burger Joint. Must Have include their smash Burger

in this bring of twenty twenty five off Guestner Road.
The new location is also going to feature a drive
through in patio space. These spots have been super popular
over in the Mantros and Heights areas, so foodies get excited.
Burger Joint, Taco Stan some of our most popular sister restaurants.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Coming to the Memorial Area in just a few months.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Culture speaking of our food culture. This because we have
such a dynamic food culture. The organization called Secret Supper
loves coming to Houston. Now Secret Supper, it's really cool.
Last time they were here about two years ago. Chef
Real Chef Ryan Leshane, who we hired as a hockey
coach when we ran the Houston Hitman Anyway, is now

(03:41):
a famous chef and Ryan Lshane was part of Secret Supper.
And the way that it works is you are given
just forty eight hours notice the location of the Secret Supper.
You don't know what's on the menu until you're seated.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
And they just recently did it again. Yep, they did
it at Post Houston.

time around was West African Cuisine meets Dominican rum whom.

ninety nine point one. We are Houston's Holiday music station
and we're talking about signs that the Christmas season has started.
It was our nearly impossible question at six point forty

(04:43):
this morning, and the answer was listening to Christmas music
when radio stations flip the switch to Christmas music, and
we were just wondering, you know, if our timing was
right this year. We are always trying to make sure
we're not too early, not too late. I want to
be just right because sometimes Christmas decorations and Christmas music
it's kind of like a little bit too early and

(05:05):
it sort of go, oh no, I wish you had
waited just a little bit longer. But man, you guys
reached out to us in a big way. So we're
asking you about your your first kind of sights of
Christmas decorations and how do you feel about it. We've
got Aaron calling in from Baytown, a junior and senior
high school forensic science teacher. Wow, Aaron, that's amazing. Now,

(05:29):
when did you see your first Christmas decorations?

Speaker 4 (05:32):

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Oh yeah, what were your thoughts like, were you thinking
of joy or were you thinking, wow, this is a
little bit early.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
I definitely have a mixed emotion. I love Christmas, I
love the reason behind the season, but I do think
we need.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
To go down sad.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Oh yeah, yeah, okay, So then we flipped the switch
to Christmas music and you get to hear the Christmas
music on sunny.
