We've got producer Anthony here and Houston's Best Variety of
the eighties, nineties and today with the three things you
need to know to get your Friday. September sixth started, well,
how did we do? The Forbes list of the top
one hundred colleges in America is out. Five from Texas
have made it to the top one hundred one, actually

(00:27):
cracking the top ten.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
You guessed it. Rice University last year is number twenty two.
This year it's number nine.

Forty six overall Texas A and M number seventy overall.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
So great job. Hey, this is so exciting.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Last week we had the Amazing bird Sanctuary open up
at the Houston Zoo. This week we're finding out the
zoo just got one of the biggest endangered.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Cats in the world.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
It came from Chicago. Thirteen year old Lisa and a
more leopard has been living at the Chicago Zoo for
the last thirty years. She's now in Houston. She's described
as confident, curious, and sassy. And if you're not yet
hiked for the Texans season, well, let's turn it over
to JJ Watt.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
He'll get you going. Hear that Houston silence. Sometimes that
silence can be definite, but.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
In that void, there's a whisper of what's to come.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
O h is up beach Town.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I love that so much. I mean the video is intense.
I love it.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
And he's he's including himself a lot in the Texans Yeah, promotion,
including we not they sign of things to come.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
I don't know. We'll have to wait and see.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Anyway, Texans will be in Indianapolis on Sunday. Now your weather, yep,
we've got some rain for your feel good Friday and
then sun tomorrow and maybe a fall front on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
We'll see. Today we go up to eighty four.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Right now, it's seventy six in Uptown and you're up
to date on sunny. Tell me something good brought to
us by our friends at goodwill Houston.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Well, we learned that Texas A.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
And M is one of the top one hundred universities
on Forbes' New List, comes in at number seventy.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
And there's more good news for Texas A and M.
For a freshman who is from Houston.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
He's now fifty thousand dollars richer after nailing a field goal. Yep,
whoa Lucas Dela boy, a first year business major, picked
out of the lottery in ESPN's College Game Day Free show.
Lucas played soccer at Beller High School, so he felt
confident in his kick. Well, he didn't nail the first kick.

(02:49):
The crowd cheered.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Let him do it again.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
He did it again, nailed the second one. Fifty thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Is that amazing? That is so cool? Producer Anthony Dane.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
We recently gave away some tickets for families to go
check out that the Houston Zoo's latest edition, The Birds
of the World Exhibit Yeah, celebrating the new aviaries from
birds from all over. While our friends at the Zoo
have announced they're hosting free entry days, they partner it
up with Excellon Mobile to get Ustonians free tickets one
day each month. The Freezoo Days are going to take
place on the first Tuesday of every month. All you

(03:21):
have to do is reserve tickets online now. September's Free
Entry Day was pushed back a week due to Labor Day,
and so you and you can't get these free tickets
at the gate, gotta go online. Zoo recommends to make
those reservations which are already open for October's Free Entry Day,
and they say to get after these as soon as
you can because the demand, as you can imagine, is
high and it's not guaranteed that you can get them.
But especially with our first official fall front blowing through

(03:44):
this weekend, a great idea to grab some previews for
the months ahead because we're gonna have some amazing cooler
weather on the way and it's the best time to
go enjoy our Houston Zoo. Check out Houston Zoo dot org.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
And you're talking about hot tickets as it gets colder.
How about this all aboard for the Polar Express. Yes,
it happens November eighth through December twenty third, and you
go to Galveston Railroad Museum dot org. That's Galvestonararmuseum dot org.
It's a two hour event and the train has to
get to the North Pole and back. There's entertainment and

(04:16):
a dance with Santa. These tickets just went on sale.
It is a very hot ticket, so definitely the kids
would love it so much. Fun Poler Express Galvestonarurmuseum dot
org and we always have are tell me something good.

(04:39):
variety of the eighties, nineties, and today it's feel good Fridays.
We're talking about things that make you feel good. Anthony
and I were talking about Kashmir High School and that
incredible You're like, I can't believe it gets one hundred percent.
I don't even know about this incredible band called Thundersoul.
A documentary made about it called Thundersould, narrated by Jamie
Fox got our own Kashmi High scho Anthony being a

(05:01):
band member, I mean, oh, you watch.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
This right up my alley, guys, come on.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
It is and plus just for any kind of extracurricular
it's just the the unity that was created with those
students because of that professor Conrad Johnson, and that's who
they celebrated in that movie. It's just such such good.
It made me feel good and we're asking things. Maybe
you made someone feel good this week and we'd love
to share it. On a feel good Friday, we have Christine,
a nurse in perlind Did you make someone feel good

(05:27):
this week?

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Oh? Yes, especially yesterday, I had a patient tool actually
his concern concern our clinic. However, I was able to
help him by reaching out to because I'm in a
myeloma clinic and his concerns were pul bari and cardiology.
So even if it was not my concern, my clinics concern,

(05:50):
I emailed the other people help him out and the
patient was very grateful.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Oh wow, that's what it's all about, right, Yes.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Them, and you know, like that's not my job, but
I was able to help it. It was a good
feeling because the picture replies that I appreciate for all
you do.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Christine.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
I'm telling you what, I bet that you know the
fact that you're a nurse, you're just kind of like
a more of a servant type oriented.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Person, right, Christine, that is. Where do you think you
got that from?

Speaker 2 (06:25):
How do you know how to do such kind things
for people even if it's not part of your job.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Well, I think it's for being a nurse. Naturally. It
comes with being a nurturing person. Helps that. I'm a
patient myself, so I would want my doctor to help
me as much as I want to help my picture.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
That is so that empathy, Christine, that is excellent. Hey,
how did you find Sunday ninety nine point one?

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Well, I listened to you every morning on my way
to work.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Well, oh, Christine, I'm so you are. You just made
us feel good on this and we thank you for listening.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
We truly appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Thank you
