tomorrow for travelers. Forty airports announced they're going to experience
(00:24):
reduced flights, delayed flights, canceled flights. Houston and Hobby are
included on the list. And we've got to continue to
expect long delays at security checkpoints. Yesterday though it was
down to seventy five minutes, but that could be up
again today. And you want to check fly to the
number two Houston dot com. Now that's the weight inside.
(00:44):
What about the weights outside on the tarmac, Well, the
rankings are out. That is the weight outside is when
with the plane leaves the gate to when it actually
takes off. That's what they looked at average time eighteen minutes.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Bush ranks. We didn't make it in the top ten.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
We rank sixteenth among big city airports and experts say
it's all about the number of flights set to take off,
you know how the planes just line up and of
course one after another, right, And we were hoping the
best for Texan C. J. Stroud after he got a concussion,
big hit Sunday against Denver. Well, it was announced yesterday
he's going to be out this Sunday against the Jaguars
(01:23):
and that gives the backup Davis Mills a chance to
shine those So that's some.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Silver lining there.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
And the weather today beautiful, but then it turns into
summer tomorrow and Saturday before the fall comes back on
Sunday and Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Actually it's going to be cool on Monday.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
We're only going to have a high of sixty two,
so we've got quite a temperature differential today up to
eighty three real sunny. Right now, it's sixty five in
Uptown and you're up to date from Sunday ninety nine
point one as we get ready for the eight o'clock
All Music Hour and at eight ten it's our Battle
of the Burbs on Sunday. Tell me something good brought
(02:01):
to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well, the
good news, I mean, there's good news, and then there's
really good news.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
And this is the really good news.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Bluebell's holiday flavor is back on store shelves. Peppermin ice
cream back for a limited time only. Cool, refreshing peppermint
ice cream sprinkled.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
With peppermint candy pieces. Plus it's pink and oh.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
On their website bluebell dot com, Anthony, They've also included
recipes to use that peppermint ice cream, including their red
Nose Reindeer peppershake and peppermint brownie trifles. Wow, oh my gosh,
so yep, peppermint ice cream is back in time for
the holidays.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Producer Anthony Dane. This is so cool.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Houston businessman is making headlines on the cycling track, setting
his fifth world record in sprint cycling in his age group.
His name is Andy Weathers. He managed to cover five
hundred meters in just thirty two point three six five
seconds back in September in a competition in Mexico and
Dane he posted a time faster than cyclists twenty years younger.
He competed, by the way in the fifty five to
(03:03):
fifty nine age bracket. Really cool that Andy trains over
at the ALCEC Velodrome over in West Houston. That's the
only cycling track in Texas. His top speed on the track,
he said, he's reached probably about forty seven to forty
eight miles an hour.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
It's Anthony crazy and.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
He bounces his record sitting athletic career with his regular
day job as a Houston businessman, dedicating his spare time
to training and competition at the elite level.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
It's amazing.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
We've got a record setting cyclist right here in the age.
Great job, Andy Weathers showing us all what's possible even
later in life.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
I tell you we've got some amazing sports in this city.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
And the Men's Rugby World Cup could it be coming
to Houston next? Apparently we've officially entered the bid to
host the twenty thirty one Men's Rugby World Cup. We
are competing against twenty six other North American cities in
the applicant process. The selection begins in twenty twenty seven,
(03:56):
so hopefully very cool FIFA coming up next, and this
would be really cool planning head, big economic boost for
us and plus it's super fun and for our feel
good stories. Each weekday mornings set a preset on the
new and improved iHeartRadio app to Sonny ninety nine point one,
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties. And today I'm Dana with producer Anthony and
(04:19):
we're talking about Thanksgiving feast. We learned that it's cheaper
this year Walmart kind of giving us an idea. It's
down three dollars per person that Thanksgiving feasts great. So yeah,
so what are you doing for your Thanksgiving feast? Buying
it and making it. We've got Tristan calling in from Alvin.
How do you do your Thanksgiving? Tristan?
Speaker 4 (04:37):
We make it every year. We each family member picked
something they like and that's what we make.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Oh that's cool, that's so great. What do you do?
Do you email them? Do you call them?
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Has the list already come in with what you're going
to be making this year?
Speaker 4 (04:51):
It's just me and my wife and my kid. We
have a small little Thanksgiving about ourselves.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
That is something perfect, no stress. Oh right.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
So one thing we do do every year, and it's
something your listeners can do is where I live in Alvin.
You go to Alvin Hope and it's called the Texas
Giving Tree and you can pick a family to adopt
for Christmas who you know may not be able to
get stuff for Christmas, and we try to pick a
family and adopt one for Christmas. Oh that's a that's
(05:24):
a Thanksgiving tradition. If your listeners want to do that,
it's Alvin Hope. And then you go to a Texas
Giving Tree and it gives you a list of families
either one kid, two, four, six, or eight and you
could pick a family and adopt them for Christmas.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Kristen, thank you so much for sharing. You just made
our day. That's such a great idea.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Thank you. And I can't wait for y'all to switch
to Christmas.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Oh you keep listening, and it's gonna happen sooner rather
than later. Okay, all right, thank you, all right, bye
bye
