Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine pointy one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and Today on Dana with producer Anthony and
here are the three things you need to know to
get your Tuesday, September tenth started well. Our Mayor John
Whitmeyer starting immediately a pay raise base salary for HPD
yes ten thousand dollars pay raise, so the base salary

(00:24):
jumps from forty two thousand to fifty two thousand.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Five thousand dollars bonus.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
It's a one time incentive for completing the HPD Academy,
and then after your probationary period, salary goes up to
over sixty two thousand dollars. It's all an incredible recruitment
effort so we can get more amazing officers to come
out and serve and protect our community. Now, while he's

(00:48):
doing that, he's also keeping eyes on Francine, a possible
Category two hurricane headed to our neighbors in Louisiana, but
it is going to brush us flooding, possible rain. We've
got today and tomorrow. We are on the clean side
at this point, but that could change. We've got watches
and warnings all along the coastal areas until four o'clock tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Centerpoint Energy saying they're ready to show that they've improved
their situation. But we are learning that Center Point is
delaying some families from getting generator installations ahead of Francine
because of this approval process. It's the final step to
get that generator up and running. Centerpoint says, expect a

(01:32):
month to get this final approval. Experts say it actually
should only be taking a week. So weather today we
do have rain, fifty percent chance, lots of clouds around.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
We are going to go up to eighty four.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Right now, it's seventy three in Uptown and eure up
to date on sunny. Tell me something good brought to
us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Oh, it was
a rainy day in New York City's Times Square, but
that didn't dampen this Houston family spirits. The Christian family
see Saturday. Six year old Hattie's photo was featured on

(02:05):
the annual National Down Syndrome Society Big Time Square video
Priman there were five hundred kids and teens and adults
with Down syndrome from.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Fifty states, fourteen countries.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Hattie and her family when they saw Hattie's face show
up and mom has been giving photos to this organization
four years. Finally they picked Hattie. She was so excited.
The whole family was. They had a blast and they
made lots of new friends.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Isn't that a great idea? Really do love it? Producer
Anthony Dan This is so cool.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
Our Texans quarterbacks coach Jared Johnson was honored this past
Friday during a PEP rally at his alma honor with
his jersey being retired over at Humble High School, and
really cool to see that. Jared was named Touchdown Club
Offensive Player of the Year during his time there, and
he's highly regarded for his work with the Texans, especially
when you consider our standout rookie quarterback C. J. Shroud,
which we've mentioned plenty of times and are telling me

(03:00):
of the good segments, But Jared has an incredible resume
to back all this up. He's been with the Vikings,
also helping out the Indianapolis Colts, the forty nine ers,
even a stint over at Saint Thomas High School right
here in Houston. But he says his roots in Umble
are what built him into the coach he is today.
His dad was a coach and principal here. It's their
family roots. He says, I wouldn't be who I am
today without the village who raised me out in umble.

(03:22):
So shout out to Texans quarterbacks coach Jared Johnson. Hometown
grown and growing are Texans to even bigger things to come.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Rachel, No, I love that.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
And you know you can't be a winner if you
don't buy a ticket.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Oh, Dan, I was thinking about a ticket and I
didn't do it. Yep.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Now, no one took home this seven hundred and forty
million dollar Mega Million jack pat pot on Friday, but
several big winners, including one in Texas, won a million dollars.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
You know what, I'd be fine with a million, thank you.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
That's a lead.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
A billion dollars.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Now the next Mega million drawing today it's up to
eight hundred million dollars grand prize, the cash option Anthony
four hundred and one point eight million. That is so
beyond my comprehension.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
But a million, that's more much. I much do it,
so definitely check it out. Hey.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
We always have our tell Me Something Good stories up
at Sunday ninety nine dot com and you can follow
us on Facebook, X and Instagram. Sunday ninety ninety Sunday
ninety nine point one, it is seven twenty one daya
in the morning and producer Anthony We've got Houston's best
variety of the eighties nineties and today we're talking about
guys needing to do their eyebrows and that's how they

(04:36):
some of them thirty six percent get ready for a date.
They're looking at their brows, maybe grooming their mustache and beard,
but definitely the browser part of the equation. We're asking
you your eyebrows story. Now, we've got Christina working with
oral surgery in spring. Do you have a man in
your life who has to get his brows done?

Speaker 2 (04:56):
You know?

Speaker 3 (04:56):
My son and my husband do it.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Oh, they do.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
So it's a sign of their very masculine and healthy guys.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Right, is that what it is?

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Have you ever had I don't know about that one. Okay, Well,
I'm just trying to be positive.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Have you ever helped your husband trim up his eyebrows
or your son?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
No, they go to their their hairdresser does it and.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
So when they get home you notice it.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Right, Oh, yeah, what would happen?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
What's your husband's name?

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Marcos.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
What would happen to Marcos if he didn't keep his
eyebrows in check?

Speaker 6 (05:28):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (05:28):
My goodness, he does them every week every week.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Wo y repon for date night with Christina?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
How did you meet Marcus at my job?

Speaker 3 (05:40):
At my first job?

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Okay? And what did he do there?

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Like?

Speaker 2 (05:43):
How did you guys hook up?

Speaker 3 (05:44):
His brother was my manager, So his brother, his brother
kind of like was like.

Speaker 6 (05:49):
Give him a chant?

Speaker 4 (05:52):
So what you're working with his brother?

Speaker 1 (05:54):
And then what is Marcus just walking one day to
hang out with his brother and he sees you?

Speaker 2 (05:58):
How did that go down?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
It was.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
It was that a pizza place and he would come
in often and.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
I was like, what does he keep coming in for?

Speaker 3 (06:09):
And then finally his brother's like, look, he's coming in
to see you.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Just give him a chance.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
And when we finally met, I found out he didn't
even like pizza.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Oh that's so hute. Would you not love that man?

Speaker 5 (06:24):
Right?

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Especially with eyebrows on fleet too?

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Yeah, it's been about twenty years.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
That is awesome.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I love that story. He just loved Christina. What does
he say he loves the most about you? I guess
my don't say your eyebrows.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
I guess my hair, her hair. Okay, yep, lucky.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
So you guys are just a hairy family. I love Christina,
You're just a sweetheart. I'm so glad you guys listened
to us. We appreciate you. Thank you, appreciate you, Christina.
Let's head over to the northwest side. Speak with Michelle.
What about you do you deal with guys with eyebrows
that are just out of control?

Speaker 2 (07:05):
No, I never did.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
I noticed them a lot, and they're I've seen some
women with more bush than men.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
More brows than.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
So they have more faith than men, I swear to God.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
What's your suggestion.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
I think there's a hairy man, but just a clean
cut is fine with me.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Okay, all right, what about ladies? What advice do you
give to ladies about their eyebrows. You seem like you're
a real expert.

Speaker 6 (07:31):
Well, sometimes married women believe their husband when they say, oh,
you look beautiful, but in reality when other people see them,
they're very hairy with that bushy eyebrow. Faith the faith,
I mean hair in the faith, and it's just out
of raat.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Out of wack. Getting a little complacents there, Dane.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
I can just see Michelle sitting on a chair somewhere,
just watching the world go by and go. Her husband
must have told her she's beautiful, but he is so
lying to her, just judging all of us.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Friend that the husband.

Speaker 6 (08:01):
I'll say, Mabbe, you're beautiful and beautiful, but she was
a hairy as hell.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Oh then no, we need to go get we need
to get done.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
So Michelle, she's an honest lady.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Were like that, Je.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
We need you to so you keep listening, Okay, yes, ma'am,
thank you.
