Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one in Houston's Best Variety of
the eighties nineties, and today I'm dating it with producer
Anthony and we've got the three things you need to
know to get your Monday, November tenth started. It's day
forty of the government's shutdown. Will it be over by Thanksgiving? Well,
we're cautiously optimistic because late last night the Senate voted

(00:22):
on an option that is a major step toward opening
the government backup. Now the House has to vote and
approve it first before we get further along, but there
is progress and that's.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
A good thing. Also a good thing this weather.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
The problem with this beautiful dry weather is fire danger
and it's cold, so Houston Fire Department is reminding us
when heating our homes with a space heater, be cautious.
Don't put it in your walls, drapes, or furniture. Don't
use your oven to heat your home. And we also
have a fire weather watch because of this drier air

(00:57):
that moved through. You've got to be real care full
of any activity that could spark flames on the grass,
So be very careful. And it is the coldest day
of the fall, so far this year, Hulk Walker, Trinity Madison.
They all woke up to freeze warnings until nine this
morning for the rest of us. Just beautiful and cool.

(01:18):
Hi's about sixty right now. It is forty five in Uptown.
A great day, Anthony, to talk about Christmas music right
and we will big announcement coming up at eight o'clock
right here. I'm Sunday ninety nine point one. Tell me
something good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.

(01:39):
While the animals at the Houston Zoo are certainly so
well taken care of, they now have I want one
of these, Anthony. They've got their own personal nutritionists. His
name is Benjamin Poe. He's been hired for nutritional help
and meal prep for all the zoo's animal He collaborates
with the veterinarians and the keys. His team has been

(02:01):
prepping meals since five o'clock this morning, so by the
time the zoo staff arrives, hundreds of meals are already prepared.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Oh wow, for the animals at the zoo. Isn't that
so cool?

Speaker 1 (02:13):
I'm just thinking, boy, if you love animals, maybe he's
kind of starting opening up a door for all kinds
of people to become nutritionists at zoos all across the country.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Isn't that great? Wow, Benjamin, Great job, Predu, Sir Anthony.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
They we've all learned the best food is made here,
or at least eventually comes to Houston. There's more to
look forward to as well. This time there's a few
out of town pizza places. These are coming from our
neighbors in the Big d as well as Austin. It's
zo Owls Pizza and Pasta and Tony C's Pizza and
Beer Garden. They're actively building out locations in Richmond, Katie
and Tomball zo Owls which comes to us from Dallas

(02:47):
building out over off Harlem. Their big hook is that
they're open till three am, which is perfect for all
the late night Munchie's, Dane and Tony C's coming from
Austin headed to the Grand, which is a mixed use
space up in Tomball. They serve New York style fast
casual pizza and also a nice selection of beer on
tap as well. It all sounds really good. Get excited
for a few new pizza places come into town. Tony

(03:07):
Cs by the way, going to be opened up the
earliest next February.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
That is really cool. I love it.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
So is this Texas A and M offering this super
cool course beginning next semester how to fight off cyber
attacks at c It is the c AIE Wow. Twenty
four lucky students get to participate. They're focusing on artificial
intelligence and protecting ships from hacking attempts. So apparently they

(03:36):
have partnered with universities in Norway, South Korea, India, and Japan.
Hackers Anthony con ransom a ship for the value of
its its its cargo, and these heroes, once they get
super smart with it, are going to be able to
help protect ships.

the average, Anthony is America. I mean Houston. We are
our own place, we have our own lights, we do
our own county, different than all of America. I thought
it was interesting the top three favorite Christmas songs that

(05:05):
America has chosen.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, these are according to Google results results over the
past month in the US and the top trending Christmas songs. Yeah,
and nowhere in this top five, by the way, do
we see Mariah Carey. That's the surprising one for me.
Number three is a Little Drummer Boy.

I have fond memories of anything Manheim. This is us
decorating the tree and I love that. And then number
one again according to Google search results in the US,
it's Holy Night.

played in Yeah, you like that one too.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
