Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday ninety nine point one Dana with producer Anthony and
we've got Houston's best variety of the eighties, nineties and
today and the three things you need to know to
get your Thursday, November thirteenth started. While you're waking up
to some good news. The government has opened funding a
bill which will keep us going through January of twenty
twenty six. They voted on it yesterday. It's great news.
(00:22):
But airlines they're saying it's going to take about a
week to get back to normal, so have patients less
flights today canceled than yesterday, So there is some progress
as they move along. It should be good though, or
Turkey Day and bye bye penny. Yep, it's gone. They
canceled it. The US Mint ended the production of the
one cent coin that at one time could actually buy
(00:45):
something like candy or a snack. It's supposed to save
US taxpayers fifty six million dollars. And the world's largest
cruise ship plan to set sell in twenty twenty seven
from Gallas. It's the massive Royal Caribbean with the largest
water park. It's the icon of the seas. More than
(01:08):
forty restaurants and bars seven pools an indoor aqua theater.
I mean, the thing is un holy. Go leave a
massive set and sound Dallas, and I'm thinking, man, what
a Christmas present to look forward to, right? I know
that'd be awesome. Weather today it's going to be warm,
warming up for the next couple of days. Eighty three
for the high should be kind of a hazy sunshine.
(01:29):
Right now it is sixty in Uptown and you're up
to date. I'm sunny. Tell me something good brought to
us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well, it's sort
of bad news a little bit to start, but then
there's good news. Here's the bad Houston has fallen out
of the top fifty in this year's World's Best Cities list.
But and the list, by the way, looked at livability, culture,
(01:51):
economic strength. We're number fifty eight, so we're down slightly
over last year. What we place higher than Dallas, and
that's all that matters. That's good news. Top five actually
on the list. Now, remember we're fifty eight. Top five London,
New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Madrid. I've been to New York,
never been to the other one, so I really don't
(02:11):
know sounds like totally disagree with New York being here. Yeah,
but that's just me, producer Anthony Dane.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
It officially kicks off today our Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market.
While to think of it's humble beginnings too, it actually
started way back in nineteen eighty one as a little
church bizarre event. The holiday fundraising shopping event features nearly
three hundred merchants offering up literally everything, and now boasts
nearly one hundred thousand shoppers every year. A couple of tips.
If you're going, they say, we're of course comfortable shoes.
(02:38):
Their peak hours are in the morning, so it's easier
to shop in the afternoons and evenings. If you fill
up your shopping bags too. I didn't know this. They
have a way to package check until you're finished, even
an optional curb side option if you want to. And remember,
you can feel good shopping too, because admission ticket sales,
along with a portion of every purchase, benefit our amazing
Houston Ballet. And if you're looking for a free way
to get in, don't forget. We've got your free family
(03:00):
four pack of tickets coming up next with our nearly
impossible Questions.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Oh I love it? Who want it? Yesterday she was
so excited. For years, we'll have yours coming up now.
Shelters all over Houston have aging dogs and cats their
senior citizens in NITA forever homes, and the shelters say
that the older pets are potty trained. Of course, they're
(03:24):
used to living in homes. They're chill and they can
easily become a part of your schedule. They just want
a forever home. And Houston's Best Friends is having its
pet adoption event this Saturday. You can check out the details.
They are so cute. Best Friends Anthony, you better not
love not. You're gonna look and you're gonna win. Better
(03:44):
best Friends dot Org. Sunday nightety nine point one, I'm
data with producer Anthony and we've got Houston's Best Brian
the eighties, nineties and today. So I was seeing the
Houston Heart Walk. I was out at Lone Star Community
College a couple of weekends ago, and I introd this
beautiful young lady Giselle or Tease, and she's going to
sing the national anthem. Well, anyone who sings the national
(04:06):
anthem is a phenom because it's really hard. But Anthony,
I hear this voice and I turn and I'm like,
what it was the most beautiful voice I had ever heard.
And I went up to Giselle after I was like,
oh my gosh, Gizelle, that was the most beautiful rendition.
Do you like Christmas music? And she goes, Dana, my
mom and I listened to your Christmas music all the time,
(04:29):
and I said, would you come up and sing some
Christmas music for us? And she said yes, and she
is here this morning. And Diesel, before we get to
Christmas music, what do you actually do at Lone Star
Community College.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yes, ma'am so absolutely. I was a music teacher before
I transitioned into higher education. So that's what my background's
in as music education. And when I got there, I
started off as a division assistant in the Arts and
Humanities and now I moved up to an academic advisor
over the Arts and humanities. So now I get to
be that support in that ment war for our students
(05:04):
and our music students.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
So it's great.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
I love my job.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
That is so good. I love that. Well, we were
talking about some of your favorite Christmas songs and I
know you love to sing. You've got a beautiful voice.
What song would you like to sing for us?
Speaker 4 (05:18):
First?
Speaker 3 (05:19):
I absolutely love Oh Holy Night by Carrie Underwood per
per version. I think that would probably be my favorite song.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Well, let's do it.
Speaker 1 (05:28):

point one. Sunday nightty nine point one. Oh Holy yeah, no,
not huh. I'm trying. I'm very competitive. I'm trying to
compete with Giselle. Oh literally has the voice of a
Christmas angel, and she's gonna sing Christmas. I'm just going
to tell you the weather. I'm Dana with producer Anthony.
(05:51):
Not only do we have Houston's best variety of the eighties,
nineties and today we've got a beautiful Thursday sunny going
up to eighty three right now sixty in uptown, we
have literally the voice of a Christmas angel, Miss Giselle
or Tease. I met her at Lone Star Community College,
and she has agreed to sing her favorite Christmas song

your husband, your high school sweet sweetheart come back tomorrow
