Speaker 1 (00:00):
Clydelegh Dennis. Here and today in our seven Good Minutes
extra segment, we're exploring this essential truth. Those who give
most freely are the ones who first nourish themselves, because
only from a full heart can generosity pour forth without
bitterness or burden. This quote challenges a deeply ingrained belief

(00:20):
in our culture that selflessness means giving until you have
nothing left, that caring for others requires sacrificing yourself, and
that setting boundaries is somehow selfish or uncaring. But what
this wisdom reveals is exactly the opposite. The most sustainable
and meaningful generosity comes from a place of fullness, not emptiness.

(00:42):
Think about the people in your life who you most
enjoy being around. Chances are they're not the ones who
are constantly depleted, stressed, and running on empty. They're the
ones who seem to have a natural vitality and presence.
They give freely, but they also take care of themselves.
They're generous with their time and energy, but they do

(01:04):
it from choice rather than obligation. When you give from overflow,
your giving has a completely different quality. There's no hidden resentment,
no keeping score, no feeling like you're being taken advantage of.
You give because you want to, because you have something
valuable to offer, because it brings you joy to contribute.

(01:26):
This kind of giving is sustainable and nourishing for both
the giver and the receiver. But when you give from depletion,
even the most well intentioned acts of service can become
tinged with resentment. You might not even be conscious of
it at first, but over time you start to feel
taken for granted, overwhelmed, or bitter. You begin to keep

(01:46):
track of what you've given versus what you've received. Your
giving becomes a transaction rather than a gift. The beautiful
paradox is that when you take care of your own
needs first, you actually have more to give to others.
When you honor your own energy, set healthy boundaries, and
fill your own cup, you become a source of strength
and inspiration rather than a drain on the people around you.

(02:10):
Here's a question for your reflection. In what areas of
your life are you giving from depletion rather than overflow?
What would it look like to take better care of
your own needs so that your giving could come from
a place of genuine abundance rather than obligation. And here's
an affirmation to carry with you. I honor my own

(02:31):
needs and energy so that I can give generously from
a place of fullness. My self care is an act
of love for both myself and those I serve. Remember,
filling your own cup isn't selfish, it's essential. It's the
foundation that makes all other giving possible. When you take
care of yourself first, you're not taking away from others.

(02:52):
You're ensuring that you have something valuable to offer them
until next time. I'm clyde Leie Dennis and this has
been seven in good minutes extra
