Speaker 1 (00:00):
Clyde Lee Dennis. Here and today in our seven Good
Minutes extra segment, we're exploring this empowering truth. You are
not at the mercy of your moods. You are the
architect of your emotional experience. This quote challenges one of
the most limiting beliefs we carry about our emotional lives,
that we're simply victims of whatever mood happens to strike us.

(00:22):
It's easy to feel like our emotions or forces beyond
our control, like weather systems that roll in and out
without our input. But this perspective robs us of our
power and keeps us stuck in patterns that don't serve us.
The word architect is particularly powerful here because architects don't
just react to existing structures. They design and build new ones.

(00:44):
They work with the materials they have, consider the environment
they're building in, and create something intentional and purposeful. This
is exactly what you can do with your emotional experience.
Being the architect of your emotional experience doesn't mean you
can control every feeling that arises. Emotions are natural responses

(01:05):
to life, and they all have value and purpose. But
it does mean you can influence how you relate to
those emotions, how long you stay in certain emotional states,
and what you do with the emotional energy you're experiencing.
Think about how an architect approaches a challenging building site.
They don't ignore the difficulties the slope of the land,

(01:26):
the soil conditions, the climate. Instead, they work with these
realities to create something beautiful and functional. Similarly, you can
work with your emotional realities, your natural tendencies, your current circumstances,
your past experiences to create a more positive and resilient
emotional life. This architectural approach to emotions requires both awareness

(01:49):
and intention. You need to notice what's happening in your
emotional landscape, understand what influence is it, and then make
conscious choices about how to respond. It's an active, creative
process rather than a passive one. Here's something to reflect on.
If you truly believed you were the architect of your
emotional experience, what would you design differently in your daily life?

(02:13):
And here's an affirmation to carry with you. I am
the conscious creator of my emotional experience, building resilience, joy
and peace with every choice I make until next time.
I'm Clyde Leige Dennis, and this has been seven good
