The experiences that tall women go through are honestly…pretty wild.

If you’re a tall girly, you understand 110%. Yes, there are the fashion struggles like jeans hitting mid-calf, long sleeves not reaching your wrists, and not even finding clothes that fit your length. There are also the comments like “oh my gosh, you’re so big” or “are you sure you’re a woman?” and we can’t forget about the aggressive behavior.

Like people will literally roll up on you and try to fight you.

And it seems like the taller you are, the wilder these experiences are. And today’s guest knows exactly what I’m talking about. Today, I’m joined by 6’4” fashionista Alie (also known as six four unicorn period), who has been using her voice, height, and style to create an accepting and welcoming space for tall women online.

We’re gonna be talking about tall girl experiences, her fashion struggles as a 6’4” woman, and some intel on the first-ever tall girl brand trip with TJL Collection. Tune into the episode for more!

Speaker 1 (00:00):

And argue with you.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
It's not serious, and it seems like the taller you are,
the wilder these experiences are. And today's guest knows exactly

Hm that's what we. Do that's what we. Do that's
what the tall girls. Do.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Period please please please take a second to introduce yourself
to the.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Audience, Absolutely hi. Everyone my name Is Ali. ALEXIS i
just go By. ALI i am a communicator by, day
content creator and life coach by.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
NIGHT a little bit about.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Me my world consists of so many, things but for
the most, part it consists of loving my nieces and
loving my.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Friends they mean so much to.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Me i'm also really good, on really big on fine,
dining good, drinks and my miniature poodle his name Is Sir.
Happenstance aside from, THAT i really love to travel AND
i am here BECAUSE i am the biggest confidence, builder
BECAUSE i am a six to four, woman AND i
just love my, height AND i love tall.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Women AND i love being a tall.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Advocate oh my, gosh your life literally sounds like it
has so much depth to, it AND i absolutely love.
That thank you so much for that. Intro Absolutely NOW
i want to hear about your experiences as a tall,
girl the, good the. Bad i'm pretty sure you have
a lot of the. Ugly what was it like for?

Speaker 3 (02:47):
You you want to know what's. Interesting, so as a wee lad,
AS i like to, SAY i was very tall at
a young.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
AGE i grew extremely.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Fast part of the ugly is when you grow so
fast you literally have growing. Pains SO i had, compees horrible,
shoulders horrible, joints and that being, SAID i was six
feet by the age of, eleven so eleven eleven, eleven
and that's a, lot you. Know and, honestly as a young,

(03:18):
lady you don't really see the good and the beauty
of being tall because everyone is in your face about.
It but LUCKILY i was raised by a tall. WOMAN
a lot of people haven't had the experience by being
raised by a tall. Woman my mother was five, eleven
my dad was six, two and my mother was an
extremely confident woman like she helped me to be, confident

(03:42):
like she was the person that would like smack me
on my back tell me to stand up straight so
THAT i wouldn't. Coach SO i learned that at a
very young. Age and with that when people would try
to tease, me because you could try to tease, me
but that wasn't really a.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Thing but like when.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
People tried to tease, me like by calling me like
giant or like big bird number, ONE i didn't really,
care AND i just would look at them, Like, OKAY
i hear, you BUT i don't really. Care it never
really bothered me BECAUSE i just saw them as being
jealous of, Me LIKE i thought that they were just
being jealous for being ordinary WHEN i was. Extraordinary so

(04:17):
oh my, GOD i really felt like that WHEN i was.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Young and it all is because of my wonderful late.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Mother but tall people in, general we get a lot
of unwarranted, attention as you Know.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
India and what's even.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Worse is that it's tall people get a lot of,
attention but tall women get it.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Worse we get the first of, it especially when you're
over six.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Feet So i'm the kind of person the comments, like
oh my, gosh you're so tall do you play? Basketball
Those that doesn't really bother. Me but what did bother?
Me WHEN i was a, kid people's parents would call
me a bully just Because i'm, tall And i'm, like,
hello i am a gentle. GIANT i just you, know,
seriously that's like something that happened to me a. LOT i,

(05:02):
MEAN i was six feet by, eleven so people's parents,
like don't talk to this, bully And i'm like? What
and then MY i was that. KID i would get
smart with people's parents and my mother would deal with me.
Later but, Yeah I'M i was always very. Sweet i'm
very sweet and IT i, mean that was the only
thing that really bothered. Me and then the fact, THAT i,
Mean i'm a girl AND i like, people and then

(05:23):
the boys were short And i'm, like, yeah, Girl BUT
i mean that's really HOW i you, know that's HOW
i grew.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Up that's HOW i felt growing.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Up but that is WHY i am the WAY i
am today because my mother just raised me to be extra.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Confident oh my, GOSH.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
I absolutely love. THAT i love hearing. THAT i love
hearing tall. Moms really just Like i'm actually thinking about
doing an episode on that, too with the tall moms
and raising tall. Daughters but that's like for later. On
BUT i absolutely love hearing tall, moms you, know because
They i'm sure they understand the experiences, too and just
like helping their daughters love their height is honestly super.
Amazing and the thing about, ADULTS i don't understand why

(06:02):
they feel the need to a fight with. Miners younger
people first of, all fight with, anybody but children anything,
exactly exactly make comments about their, bodies and SO i
will never understand. That but. Whatever, anyways you probably answer
this question, already but what was something involving your? Height

(06:24):
it could be a, question it could be a. Comment
what was something involving your height that you absolutely hated?

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Hearing H i think the biggest thing was as a,
child parents calling me a.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Bully but this day and, age IF i can.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Men asking me IF i was born female because women
are not this, tall and that happens a lot in
the current state THAT i live, in partially.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Part of the reason Why i'm leaving this.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
State But i'm here to, say, yes, women men can
be six to four and taller and be born female people.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Exactly it's a, thing, Exactly it's, yeah very, unwarranted like
you don't even know the, person why would you do
that come up to.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
YOU i, mean it's the most bizarre. Thing it's.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Bizarre it is, bizarre And i'm so sorry that stuff
like this happens to, you, Honestly, like but you're getting
out of, there so that's a.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Wrap that's.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Ober, yeah. Exactly, now as you said, before especially like
in your, introduction you are a six to four, fashionista
And i'm sure. THAT i, mean, Listen i'm literally like
in the. Fives i'm a little over five to. Ten
in fashion is terrible like a struggle for, me So

(07:48):
i'm sure that it hasn't always been the easiest for.
You can you talk a little bit more about your
experiences with?

Speaker 2 (07:55):
That for? Sure and first of, all thank you for
calling me a.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
FASHIONISTA i And i'm an extremely confident, woman BUT i
do not see myself as a fashionista BECAUSE i am
someone that literally throws clothes ONLY i don't even try
to think about. It SO i really appreciate the fact
that it's landing well. Somewhere but with that, again my,
Mother Brenda, carroll was a. Fashionista she was five eleven

(08:21):
in high. School she's like five, nine, five, ten five,
Eleven so she had to literally sew her own, Clothes
like she couldn't buy, pants so she had to sew
her own, pants sew her skirts and. Dresses so she
was very. Creative so for, me it was. Impossible for,
me buying jeans consisted of buying men's, Jeans buying pants

(08:44):
consisted of buying consistent of buying men's. Pants that those
were the only. Options SO i am Really i'm very.
Feminine i'm a girly, girl SO i wear a lot of.
DRESSES i wear a lot of skirts because for so.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
LONG i could not find.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Pants and, like now we have The, internet which is,
great BUT i Mean i'm forty, two so back then
we had. Catalogs but even, then if it came in,
tall it was like a thirty three inch in, seam
AND i am a thirty six thirty seven inch in.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Seam so when.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
These big stores, say, yeah we sell tall and we sell,
LONG i love that for, them AND i love that
for the five nine to six foot girlies that go
up to a size thirty four inch in, Seam but
for those of us that are over six feet that
are thirty five inches in up in seam that doesn't.
Work so it's always been a. STRUGGLE i personally have

(09:33):
never purchased a pair of jeans or a pair of
pants in women in a store ever in my.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Life like.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Ever, yeah and that's, Rough like people don't get. That
people are, like oh my.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
God but people, say, Like, ali you you look so.
Good where do you? Shop? GIRL i do.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
IT i make it look, easy but it's. Real but with,
THAT i love the.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Fact that there are so many tall brands.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Now so tall brands are popping up here and, there
and they are small, businesses and people do, complain you,
know it's a little, pricey but that's because it's a small.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Business the point is they.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Sell in seams up to forty, Inches so that works
for someone like me at six four AND i wear,
heels and it works for my six six and my
six nine girls out, There Like i'm so appreciative of
that and just eternally.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Grateful but it's always been a.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Struggle, YEAH i can honestly, imagine AND i. Agree you
do make it look, easy especially on social media with
all your. Videos every time you pop up on my,
Feet i'm, like, ooh, Go.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
ALI i appreciate everyone that follows me at six Four
unicorn BECAUSE i don't.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Know i'm just doing. It i'm just trying to help
And i'm just doing it.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Honestly before we get to the next, question kind of
like a little bit of a, segue like what is
a tip that you want to give to the girlies
who are over six and they're struggling to find clothes
that fit them fit their.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Length my first tip is to practice patients because should
We we shouldn't have to write, no we, should but
we have to be patient because we know that the
struggle is real and the struggle is. Real but we
have social media, now so my tip is to be

(11:24):
on social media and for those of you that are not,
tall share A Tall girls, podcast share My, instagram my
TikTok at Sixport unicorn with all of your tall, friends
because we have a community and we are all here
doing things like this to help one. Another because there's
so many resources out there. NOW i, mean it's still

(11:44):
not like big, companies but we have. Sources so you
have to jump in there and be a part of the.
Community and if you have, questions ask the, questions, girl
where did you get those shoes at size?

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Thirteen. Fourteen where did you get that? Dressed these pant
that's why we're. Here why this exactly?

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Exactly, Yes and you know if all the tall, girlies you,
Know i'll congregate and support overaal media. Support these small
brands can be maybe brands exactly. EXACTLY i like your thinking,
there and so, yes you were talking about tall girl.
Brands so let's get into something a little bit within

(12:25):
that realm tall girl history was literally. Made you went
on the first ever tall girl brand trip WITH Tjl.
Collection first of, all, congratulations that's, amazing my. Gosh and
second of, all spill the. Tea what was that experience
like from start to? Finish oh my.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
GOODNESS Tjl collection is one of my absolute favorite tall.
BRANDS i support this brand fully Because tiffany.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Is six.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
One she's the owner OF The. Tjl collection she's six
so she knows, the.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Struggle she knows what.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
It's like so this is a tall brand created by a,
tall woman and she. Loves us and not only does
she have a, tall brand she supports other tall brands
and she hosts an annual tall girl Meetup every October,
In dallas texas CALLED The Tjl tall girl meetup and
pop up shop where you can come and shop in.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Real TIME so i fully.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Support her so when she sent me an email and
asked ME if i wanted to participate in her, BRAND
trip i freaked OUT and, i, said this this is a.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Dream, come true especially.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
For me i'm, an Influencer but i'm a, nano influencer so,
YOU know i don't have hundreds of thousands, of followers
so for her to trust me with, her brand it.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Just means the world. To me, so yeah got an
email and it was like save.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
The DATE and i actually had plans to go HOME
to dc that WEEKEND and i canceled that Trip because
tiffany told me to save The date and then all of,
a sudden we get an update email to let us know,
the theme Which Was, cowboy carter which is also going
to be the theme for the meet Up. In OCTOBER
and i, Immediately, THOUGHT okay i, HAVE clothes i, HAVE

(14:13):
fringe i, have CASTLES but i don't. Have BOOTS so
i had to immediately find some BOOTS and i Wear
thirteen india so that, was ROUGH but i figured it
out AND like, i said always here to help. Other
people and then we get the email with the Itinerary and.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
India.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
The, way okay so there were five of us and
we ranged from five to eleven to six, to six
and so you have the short, tall girls the tall,
tall girls and then you have all these beautiful different
hues of. Skin tone so we're, all different we're. Different
sizes we're tall, and thin we're tall. And curvy and

(14:54):
the Way tjil collection took care of us the, entire
weekend we didn't have to lift. A finger we, show
up we have, goodie bags we have catered food, all
weekend we have, a bartender and the weekend was just
filled with us having the opportunity as creators to create
and get content and then also MODEL the tjl clothes

(15:17):
that we. Already had we also were gifted her brand
new dress.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
And we modeled.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
For that so it was a weekend filled with, great food,
great friends, great, drinks modeling content. AND fun, I, mean
india it was the best EXPERIENCE ever. I am i
will forever be grateful for. This experience just to be
in a room with other tall women is.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Just great oh.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
My, GOD yeah i mean literally we didn't lift a
finger like they took such great care.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Of us that sounds awesome, because honestly BECAUSE when i
first saw it, NUMBER one. I screamed i almost threw
my phone across. The room and YOU know i can't
throw my phone across the room because we know that
was the last time my parents was ever gonna buy me.
A phone, I was i have to come out of
my pocket and buy me. Another ONE so i, was
like let me. Compose myself but, it's like when you

(16:07):
think of, brand trips you basically think of the beauty
influencers or like the super big like fashion, content creators.
Et cetera, tall girlies the tall girls.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Doing this we were. Doing it, you know.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
We was out, there exactly and we were out THERE in,
I mean i'm sure y'all bought the. Heat too what
like all of y'all are smoking Fur REAL like i
was living for, That SERIOUSLY and i want, to ask
what was, one moment just like one moment that was
the most enjoyable on That.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Trip india that's LIKE the I can't i can't answer
That because i'm, an answer but not the way you
want me to the Thing, is india there's the entire
experience is the moment because it's the entire experience of

(17:03):
being celebrated for, your height and you're being celebrated for
your height with all of these other women who are
celebrating their height and. Your HEIGHTS like i, said before
it's our community and it's rough. Out here people don't.
Understand it you can try to empathize, and sympathize but

(17:25):
if you are not a, tall woman you have no.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Idea what we go through. Every day so there is.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
No moment the entire experience was the moment because it
was so freaking beautiful to.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Be tall and, you.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
Know some, of us even as, content creators are still
very shy and still very insecure because when we step
out of, the house we get so much. Unwarranted attention
so to be somewhere where you're not getting that type,
of attention the only type of attention you're getting this
entire weekend and this experience and this community is, yes girl, Slay,

(18:04):
girl YES boot i, FEEL you i. See you so
it's it's it's the idea of. Being celebrated.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
And that was, the. Moment babe that was. The, moment
honestly that is the.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Perfect, answer yeah that is this that actually kind of
get emotional.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
About it, so yeah, it's NO but i.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
LOVE that i mean that's the whole point of the,
tall girlies, you know being on social media and creating
this community and doing the pop ups and doing the
meetups and, so forth so that when, we yes because
when we, step outside people are so quick to. Judge
us people random strangers are ready to, come up try
to argue with us about, our height ask us if,

(18:45):
we're bored and woman all. That stuff so to have
a space where, you know we're accepted and we can
feel comfortable and beautiful and confident in our, own Skin like,
i'm pretty that's literally all we could ever. Ask, for
Truthfully now i'm like a little. Bit nosy were there
any like cool fun activities that we're done during?

Speaker 3 (19:05):
This? Trip okay so, not okay not, really activities but
we were the activities that is a fun, activity though
no literally because it was like a big slumber party.
All weekend not, to mention, you know she got it,

(19:26):
some pajamas but to have a private Chef, on, friday.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yeah that's.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
An activity, yeah yeah and then even like a whole
bartender came in for the full Day. On saturday literally
private chefs, all day. All night those were the activity
we and we had so Much, fun india like, the
laughing the joking BECAUSE like, i said it literally was

(19:54):
a huge.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Slumber party so like.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
We didn't play any games or anything, like that but
just getting to know one another because we some of
us knew, Each other yeah we met, one time or
we knew.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Social media getting to know.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
Each OTHER dare, i say we're, making friends, you know
which is cool because it's as an adult.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
It's hard to.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Make friends so getting to know More about tiffany and
getting to know more about the history OF the tjl
collection that those were the activities and it was so.
Much fun and then the modeling like wardrobe, change out the.
WARDROBE change, i mean for those of you that are
not aware of this, brand trip please check OUT the

(20:38):
tjl Collection on instagram and TikTok so you can see
the footage of the fun we had and what we
were modeling and what.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
We created like that was the best part. About it oh.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
My, gosh yes and shout Out. To, tiffany tiffany we, see,
you girl, we know we, See, you okay we support
you And her lanks are definitely going to be the
description for REAL and i honestly. LOVE That A tall
girl summer PARTY whose I wish i had THOSE when
i was growing up for really.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Was like and then the SUPPORT some i won't say
names with some of us can't dance that much and
felt a. Little awkward but to have your tall sisters
there having, your back, like girl you don't have to.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Have rhythm we're gonna make it look like you got
rhythm and we're.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
GETTING period i absolutely. Love that oh, my gosh thank
you so much for sharing your experiences With The tall,
girl brand but also even like as a six to,
four woman and, you know with all, of that this
is like a great way to conclude. The episode final
question is what is one piece of advice that you

(21:47):
want to get to the tall girls listening right now
who are struggling with their self esteem because of.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Their height because people Don't, know india so many tall
women struggle with their self esteem because of. Their height,
for disclaimer this is easier said. THAN done, i AM
and i know that everyone isn't, like ME so i

(22:13):
know it's easier said.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Than done but we have to work really hard.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
To ignore people, around us like you have to ignore
them focus on you and being yourself because we can't stop,
the attention you KNOW what, I mean we can't turn off.
The noise everywhere we goes people are going, to say oh,
my god you're, So tall oh, My, god mom look, at,
her mom look, at her oh. My gosh she whispering
from the kids like and that makes us want to

(22:41):
crawl into a corner and, not leave because you don't
know what it's like to have people consistently whispering and
talking about you until, you, Know right but it's. So overwhelming,
AND y'all i know, it's overwhelming but.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
We can't.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
Control it we can't control, the noise we can't control.
The comments we can't control. The attention but what we
can control is how we receive it and whether or
not we're actually listening. To it and THE thing i
want all of my tall ladies to remember is.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
You have.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Something special like these people are so obsessed with us
because they, ain't us so they have no choice but
to talk. About us, so baby let them talk like
and for my five to nine the six, Feet, girls
yes y'all have a side of. The, STORY okay i.

(23:39):
Hear y'all y'all have a side of, the, story right
but you guys embrace. That too and for my ladies
that are over, Six feet i'm, six FOUR so i
