(00:02):
Welcome back to a Woman's Playbook forDating. I'm chavn Lee and here to
be your cheerleader along your dating journey. In the last few episodes, we've
covered the offensive line and the defensiveline, and last episode I shared a
little bit about how my current datingroster is shaping up as I've been back
in the online dating game. Y'all, it's been quite interesting over here,

(00:24):
just saying, but more on thatlater in the episode. We need to
jump into draft day. This weekendwas the twenty twenty four twenty twenty five
Draft Day. Now, this isa day when teams select new and upcoming
players for their roster, either fromcollege teams or some young men straight out
of high school. If you canbelieve it now, it's an exciting day

(00:47):
for a few hundred hopeful players lookingto enter prime time. And as I
talked about in episode three, draftingseason is both exciting as hell and nerve
wrecking all at the same time. There are more players than teams, more
aspiring professional football players than there areslots to fill them into. Let's face

(01:07):
it, everyone will not make itthrough draft season with a successful outcome that
they've only dreamed about for hundreds ofmen who fought their way from peewee leagues
in middle school all through college. This is their championship moment. And for
every ten of those who dreams aremade, there are hundreds who have to
turn to Plan B or Plan Cin order to take another route for their

(01:33):
professional dreams. So congratulations to theincoming players for the twenty twenty four twenty
twenty five NFL football season. Cheersto a successful career. And for those
who did not make it into thisgo round, I'm rooting for you as
well, and hope that your journeyto fulfilling your dreams well, they don't

(01:55):
stop here this episode. I wantto round off the different player positions by
sharing the deats on special teams positions. Then we're jumping right into the game.
That's right, we are here, ready to start to head out onto

(02:17):
the field. Okay, let's talkabout special teams. While the offense scores
points and the defense stops the otherteam from scoring, special teams come into
play during kicking situations. This includeskickoffs, punts, field goals, and
extra points. First up, wehave the kicker. The kicker's job is

(02:37):
pretty straightforward, but it's not easy. They kick, field goals and extra
points after touchdowns. A field goalis worth three points and is usually attempted
when a team can't score a touchdownbut they're close enough to the end zone
to try for a long kick, and extra points are worth one point and
are attempted after a touchdown. Nextup, there's the punter, and when

(03:00):
a team's offense can't advance the ballfar enough downfield, they'll bring out the
punter on fourth down. The punter'srole is to kick the ball as far
down the field strategically as possible tomake it difficult for the opposing team to
start their offense in good field position. Moving on, let's talk about the

(03:21):
long snapper. This player's role iscrucial yet often overlooked. The long snapper
specializes in snapping the ball accurately andquickly over a long distance, then typical
snaps to the punter or during fieldgoals and extra points to the holder.
I know it seems like a lot, Just stick with me. And speaking
of the holder, they catch, the long snappers snap and hold the ball

(03:44):
perfectly in place for the kicker tomake a field goal or extra point attempt.
Precision here is key as a poorlyplaced hold can it can just ruin
the kick. Then there are theplayers involved during kickoffs and punt return Namely,
these guys are the kick returner andpunt returner. These are the guys

(04:04):
who catch the ball on kickoffs andpunts and try to run it back as
far as possible. Good returners arefast, agile, and have excellent vision
to see and hit openings in theopposing team's coverage. And we cannot forget
about the rest of the gang involvedin all of these plays. There are

(04:24):
the blockers who protect the runner, trying to open up lanes and block the
opposing team from tackling them. Andon the flip side, during kickoffs,
the coverage team, they rush downthe field to try to tackle the runner
as quickly as possible. With thisit's all about speed and strategic positioning.

(04:45):
Our last, but not least,a quick shout out to the gunners.
These are the players on punts whosprint down the sidelines aiming to tackle the
punt returners. Now, they aretypically some of the fastest players on them
team, and they need to beable to dodge blockers to get to the
returner. So as you can seespecial teams. They might not get the

(05:08):
glory of a touchdown, dance orbig interception. They're not doing the greedy
and you know, the end zone, but they're essential fulfilled position and often
the outcome of the game. Nowkeep an eye on these positions. You'll
be amazed at how critical each kickreturn and tackle can be. Shout out

(05:29):
to the special teams first. Asyou know, a woman's playbook for dating
is all about decoding the dating game, making the confusing parts a little bit
clearer and a lot more fun, dare I say? And learning about special
teams position is super crucial to navigatingthe dating world. Just as I explained,

(05:56):
special team positions are often underappreciated, but as you can see, each
position has a unique responsibility contributing tothe game's outcome and in dating, understanding
these roles can really help you navigatethe field. Now, let's match up
these special team positions on the fieldand how they can play out in your
love life. The initiator This isour guy who's a kicker. He's like

(06:21):
the kicker, the initiator. Hemakes the first move, he sets up
the date, or sends that firstmessage, just like a kicker, aiming
for the field goal. The initiatortakes a chance to score some points early
in the game. Next up theresponder guy. This role is similar to

(06:42):
the holder. In this play. You would be the initiator and the responder
receives the initiator's actions and decides howto set things up moving forward. They
ensure that the ball is in agood spot, ready for the play to
continue smoothly. So they are therecatching your you know, when you slide
into that DM or however you initiate, and they take it and they run

(07:05):
with it. Then we have thecommunicator, who is like the long snapper.
Their job is all about precision andtiming, sending clear, well timed
messages that effectively reach the other person, ensuring that everyone knows what's happening and
when is happening. Okay, movingon, Think about the supporter. Much

(07:27):
like the blockers in football and dating, this person provides emotional support, helping
their partner navigate challenges and obstacles, protecting them from life's tackles, and creating
space for growth and happiness. Weneed supporters and we need blockers like we
need that in our life and onour dating roster. Hello, and don't

(07:48):
forget about the adventurer now, heatis similar to the returner on special teams.
They're the ones who catch the opportunities, whether it's a spontaneous role trip
or trying out a new hobby.Together, they bring excitement and energy,
driving the relationship forward into new territories. I mean, listen, I love

(08:11):
a good adventurer, a good returneradventurer on my special teams. Then there's
the planner. This role involves morestrategy, which is like the coverage team
in football. Planners they think ahead, considering the bests moves for the relationship,
organizing dates and even foreseeing potential issuesand addressing them early on. All

(08:37):
right, Last up, we havethe challenger. Now they are much like
the gunners on special teams. Theymight push boundaries within the relationship, encouraging
personal growth and resilience. They're quick, they're direct, and often inspire dynamic
changes in the relationship. And thereyou have it. Just like in football,

(08:58):
every role in dating is vital. They may not always be in the
limelight, but the Special teams players, their positions and their contributions are key
to a winning strategy and love. All right, now, I promised I

(09:20):
would give some updates along the wayas to how my dating journey has been
going. Last episode, I shareda little bit about how I build my
roster from using online dating platforms.Again, I'm not the biggest fan of
online dating for a lot of reasons, but living in a big metropolitan city,
it's one of the ways to meetpeople that you know you would never

(09:41):
cross paths with, you know, maybe organically. And it's also a great
way to build a roster filled withlots of different types of players and player
or positions. Now, look, all of these will not make it off
the bench. I'm not out herejust trying to date the world, but
at least using online dating, you'reweeding through potential matches and potential players.

(10:03):
Recently, I've slated in a fewplayers on my roster, positions like running
backs and centers mainly, but therewere some defensive players in there too,
And as I talked about before, they are here to teach me lessons and
making me execute some strong boundaries.Girl, the boundary game is strong over

(10:24):
here. The running back guys, you know, these are the guys recently
who have taken the ball and ranwith it. They have just carried it,
you know, planning dates, comingin hot and strong with some potential
actions that led me to think thatthey had true potential. But can we
please for a minute talk about theepidemic that is happening in the dating world.

(10:48):
Let's talk about this. What amI talking about? Y'all? Love
bombing? Oh my god, thisis such an issue. Guys coming in
hot with this show glow of potential, then stumbling off the field because they
can't keep up the facade they putup when you meet them. Listen,
honestly, this is a PSA fellas. If you cannot maintain whatever you're bringing

(11:11):
my way, then do me afavor and don't come my way. So
yes, a few running backs asof lately have been cut from being potentially
drafted on my roster. And Isaid drafted because they didn't get a solid
seat. Yet, I will sayI have a few centers who are in

(11:31):
the periphial currently, and as I'veshared in earlier episodes, centers are dependable
anchors. They may not move fast, but they make good moves. You
can depend on these type of playersto be around for date nights, good
conversation. Now, whether or notthey make it past the anchor position,

(11:52):
is to be determined. I've hada few fun trips to Las Vegas,
a solo trip to Napa which wasinitially supposed to be a date weekend,
but I changed the plans because Iknew for sure that that player who was
supposed to accompany he didn't have thatpotential. And I also revisited the idea
of reconnecting with someone in Atlanta whohas so much potential if he could just

(12:18):
get out of his own way.He is a strong defensive player on my
roster for sure, here to teachme about setting and maintaining boundaries. They'll
let me be clear, these areall ptential players to be on my roster.
None of them have truly earned theirspot in my dating life. For

(12:39):
now, I'm continuing my process ofinterviewing, evaluating, and seeing who could
potentially be this season's draft picks inmy life again with the hope to have
just one, just one star player. I mean, could a sister just
get a quarterback up in here? And that is the end of this episode.

(13:00):
I hope that you learned some newnuggets of wisdom and also had some
fun learning you know, about thegame of football along the way. I
would love to hear from you.Let me know about what strategies from a
Woman's Playbook for Dating you might beusing so far, and if there's something
specific you want me to cover infuture episodes, let me know. You

(13:22):
can message me on ig search upa Woman's Playbook for Dating. I'm also
on TikTok, so go ahead andslide into my DMS and let me know
again what strategies you're using and ifthere's anything that you know You're like,
Hey, Shavin, let's talk aboutthis until next week. I'm Chavon Lee
and I'm headed into the locker roomto prepare for next week's episode. I'll

(13:43):
be back next week with the nittygritty about managing your players. Now that
we're in season, it's all aboutplayer management, player personnel. As always,
I love for you to share thispodcast with a friend, a sister,
onto your coworker, neighbor, anyone you feel could benefit from taking
