Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right, and welcome back to another episode of ACF four
one one, and we're coming to you from the used
to be the milk parlor at the Allen County fair Grounds.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Now it's the podcast parlor.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
It's the iHeart Podcast Parlor here at the Allen County
fair powered by Nutrient and joining me for this episode.
We have a liss up from the Allen County.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Four AH staff and so one of the big wigs.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Out here at the FIST I go that far.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
But so what I wanted to talk about I was
down at the.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
At the buildings down here where they have the four
HS some of the projects and stuff on display, and
a big part of that display in that building is.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
A silent auction. Yeah, so tell me a little bit
about the silent auction.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Well, first off, how long are the bids going to
be open? How long do people have to go out
look at the items and bid?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Yeah, so you commit in until Saturday at three pm, Okay,
and then we take all those bids and we reach
out to the people who won the bids so they
can come pick up their nice items and.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
They can just settle up with you there in the
four EACH office.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
They do, Yes, they can. Actually, we will be down
in the Youth Exhibits building after for a while for
people to come pick them up there if there happen
to be on the grounds, but if not, they can
come to the office and we can get them their
items there.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Great. Where's the money go? Where are the proceeds go?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Yeah, So it's put on by four each council, and
four each council uses this money for our four each
programming and they also give out some scholarships to our
youth each year.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
So this is not the first year you've done the auction,
that you've done a mining So wow, what how much
do you expect to raise at the silent auction this week?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
This year?

Speaker 4 (01:39):
So it really varies each year. This year we've had
the most items that we've had since I've been in
the Freach office. So this year we actually have forty
three items. So they're lots, I'm gonna say smaller than normal.
We have a lot of smaller baskets. Sometimes we get
really big items, but usually we get over one thousand
dollars from the silent auction. That's yes, very very kind

(02:01):
of people.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
So I will tell you, I know you're on a
good good start to get to that thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Because I was down there and they have a pair
of because we're abouth.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
The Ohio State buck gyh of course, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
So they had a pair of Ohio State rocking chairs.
I think was already two hundred and fifty bucks.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah, the items are doing really, really well.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I think it'll go up before Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Every time I've gone in the building, there's been a
lot of people, so we're super excited to see what
we get.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
I mean, I figured Kelly would probably just like give
you a thousand bucks on something.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Yeah, by the end of the week, I'll probably go
down and write her name down for a couple of things.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
We needs her cell number.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I actually happen to have that in my phone, so
maybe we could get on together and put her down
for a couple of things.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
I forgot, but I do too.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah, she's super convenient to be so excited. When she
wins gets that message, she's like, whoo boo.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
I hope she likes goldfish? Is that one of them?

Speaker 4 (02:51):
There's goldfish, there's camping, all of the things. I know
she likes Ohio, say obviously because of her jobs, so
she might really like those rocking chairs.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
So what are some of the other items you're talking
about the gold fish.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah, so we have a couple of snack baskets or
movie night baskets. Lots of goodies in there, lots of
gift cards in those ones. We also have a taste
of a blufft in basket which we've had. So they
go around to all the local businesses in Bluffton and
they donated lots of great things. I think they usually do,
but I'm not sure anyhing that like thirsties, the golf course,

(03:22):
nice stuff. Lots of campfire baskets so if you enjoy
the outdoors, lots of those comes with the hot dog
forks and those things. So if you're into that, that's
some good baskets. Yes, there's a fishing basket donated by
our Sharpshooters for each club. It's got a new fishing pool,
fishing nets, some lures for h books so you can

(03:43):
take the project.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
There's a lot of good stuff in that basket, all right.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Cool. We talked about the rocker.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I think the pretty the rocker is really cool. People
really love that.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
There's a pickleball set down there. I don't know I
you've seen the net sitting up there. But if you're
in a pickleball there's a couple of those nice movable
net you can and go home place some pickle ball
in your backyard. She is really big into pickleball actually,
So if you ever need a partner, call up Kelly.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
She is.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
She is into that coach.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
I've never played pickleball or bowling. Fun fact about Kelly.
While we're talking about Taco Tuesday basket, so if you
love tacos, hit up that basket. A couple of grilling baskets.
There's a Blackstone grill down there. There's also a Yetti cooler.
They're very, very popular. It's just one of our most
popular baskets. And we also always get two trees from

(04:34):
one of our horse clubs, and those are super populares.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
So all I have is.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
The real name, and they're kind of hard to pronounce,
but there's some kind of fruit trees. I believe one
of them is the streets by R. Oak, but the
other one I'm not going to be able to pronounce.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
So term they're green.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
I do believe they are green.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
That's all the farther I got.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I saw leaves perfect. I think that's the technical.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, and probably you should water them right away because
I don't think they've been watered.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
They actually do. Somebody usually waters them. I maybe we
should check in on that. I mean, we've still got
a couple of days left, so we probably should have.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
The kids do that. That's probably good idea. Yeah, good idea.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
So again, so obviously we want them to go down
right now and been on some mine ups, but they
probably need to come back Friday and Saturday because it's
gonna get.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, it's changed a lot. Actually at the beginning of
the week. We've had some bids.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
They went down a check today to see if I
need to replace the papers, and some of them are
getting pretty close to the end. So yeah, definitely should
come back out and recheck those out or send a
friend and let you know where they're at all right.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
And again, where do the funds go? Because I think
to support it's programming abstually.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yeah, so it all comes back to the for each program.
So Forage Council in general is a group of volunteers
who make up the council and they help guide decisions
in the program here in Allen County. So all that
money is used all to go back to the youth
for programming, after school programming camp, all of those things.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
So so we probably should talk a little bit. We
haven't asked. I haven't asked how many kids are involved
in four.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
H now in county pretty close to one thousand, one
thousand kids, eleven hundred thousand and then hew lot, So.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Like, how many clubs is that?

Speaker 4 (06:16):
I think there's thirty two clubs and that includes we
also have two clover bud clubs that are strictly clover buds.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
So let me ask you this because I'm down putting
on the spot because I'm just thinking of all this
weird stuff because that's how my brain works.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
But so not all four H projects are about being
on the farm.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Absolutely, yeah, So give me an.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Example of Okay, so I'm not really interested in being
on the farm, but four AGE sounds like something I'd
like to get into.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
What else could I get into with four EH?

Speaker 4 (06:44):
So there are actually over two hundred for H projects
that you can choose from. We have categories that relate
to STEM. We have cooking, We have clothing so you
can do sewing projects. We have some mental health books.
We have outdoors insects, fishing, We have shooting sports. We
have some horseless horse dog books about anything that you

(07:05):
can think of. We can find you a project here
and for h.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
I remember they even have rockets.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
If they do, they have two rockets yeah, or they
also have solid fuel rockets.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
I might sign up for four AM. I too old.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Unfortunately, you are too old, you do age out? Yeah. Sorry.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Maybe they could come up with like a three H
for seniors.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Yeah, maybe we can get Kelly to work on that.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Okay, Alyssa, thanks for coming in and joining us in
the podcast parlor, the former real parlor, and we'll be
back with a C A F four one one coming
up
