Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know, I w many of us here are believers,
and so you're gonna see in your hand out that
a lot of what I am covering, I've given you
scriptural basis for it, right, And that does not mean
that I'm gonna send up here a bleach to it.
Just means that, you know, we have a saying back
at home. If you can book it, you can live it.
(00:20):
So I'm not just out here gonna s you know,
just spouting off stuff because you know, I wanna start
a business. I wanna do business. I wanna be a
great business person. But I can find myself in the
Word that everything that I'm doing in life is based
on what God's Word says to us. And so I'm
just gonna start here with tewod Timothy one and seven,
(00:40):
and it says God has not giving us a spirit
of fear, but a power of love and a sound mind.
And so today some of the things that we're gonna
be talking about is analysis paralysis, fear of failure, fear
of the unknown, and in how you can replace your
fear with faith, and how you can get beyond the
analysis paralysis that I can deal with some of that
because I've started arted several businesses. Eyes are always wonderful,
(01:03):
thank you, And so I've started several businesses, I've helped
other people start businesses. We run at school here in
the state of Florida, but before that, I had started
a school in North Carolina and we graduated six classes
and then it's a Christian school, and we had partnerships
with the public school and they would send us students,
(01:25):
and a lot of times you would have to, you know,
advertise and do all of the things. But when you
know what it is that you have been placed in
the earth to do, you're not trying to do what
somebody else is doing. You're doing what you know that
you have been set here in this earth to do.
And so we never had to really advertise for students.
I can tell what times of year the kids are
(01:47):
gonna start acting up and when our enrollment is gonna
go up. Most people there, enrollment would go up at
the beginning of the school year because that's when school started.
But we had at least three times a year that
our enrollment went up when school began during spring break
or Christmas break, and then spring break because that's where
the kids would get suspended. And then they had alternative
high schools, and because I had pulled my kids out
(02:08):
of public school, I had relationship with the schools, so
they would call me misstubs. We have this student and
the parents doesn't want them to go to this school
or whatever. Whatever. Do you have room? Absolutely wed? Why
because we wanted to be able to reach our community.
And so if I had, you know, fear of failure,
fear of what things were going to become, and fear
(02:30):
of falling on my face, I would have never stepped
out to do that. And from there I helped other
schools get started. We started schools in Connecticut. I do
business consulting with some people in North Carolina and in
other states to help them get their schools where they
want them to be. And why is that? Because I
love education, we love students. We want to see our
(02:51):
kids become what God has placed them in the earth
to do. So you have a list of scriptures and
I would encourage you to read that in your copious
free time. And I'm want to start with something right
here that's not scripture. But I had done this some
years ago at a business conference and went with my
business mentor to Dubai and we did a business conference
(03:11):
in Dubai and we all had to get up and
share some things about you know, business, starting business, doing business,
facing business, all the issues that were based. How many
have y'all ever heard of Jack and Jail? Right, Jack
and Jail went up to hear in the festal fair water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown, and Jill came
tumbling after. Guess what I found out. That's not the
(03:31):
end of the rhyme. But that's the only part of
the rhyme that we have been taught as children growing up.
So let me read the rest of the rhyme. Somebody say,
read the rest the end of the rhyme, says up.
Jack got and home did try as far as he
could caper to old Dame Dobb, who patched his knob
with vinegar and brown paper. And what happened is after
(03:54):
that Jack finished and went and did what his mama
sent him out to do. It's like we saw in
the video on the Wiz. We have people around us,
circumstances around us, injuries, life, trauma, divorce, death, you name it, it happens,
and then we find out that we can't finish or
(04:16):
we think that we can't finish. And those are the
things that cause us to have that analysis paralysis. I
want to start a business. I want my business to be,
you know, to flourish. I want to be able to
reach this segment of population. I want to be able
to reach this community. You know. I want to be
able to reach this segment of people. But something always
happens in us. I've found out that the problem is
(04:37):
never the things that are outside of us. It's always
the thing that is in us. Somebody say, overthinking. So
let's talk about what analysis paralysis is. And what I'm
gonna do is just to keep it safe because I
have I have a problem. I'm a writer, so I'm
always writing and rewriting. So I sent in my notes
and then I rewrote them. So I'm gonna give you
(04:58):
my rewritten note. But this is still on part Okay,
So let's talk about what analysis paralysis is. It is
when you overthink that leads to an action. Somebody say
in action, all right, And so I put it here
prophetic reminders. And so I know most of us and
believe us here. I believe all of us are. If
you're not, you probably would be by the time we
(05:19):
get finished on this sea today, okay, because we're gonna
prophesize over you even though we are talking about business. Okay,
very good. So here's a reminder for you. Overthinking magnifies
giants and minimizes God's promises. Any time you find yourself
getting ready to step into something or having a desire
(05:40):
to step into something, you start thinking about what you
can't do. You start thinking about what somebody else said.
You know them pros, you know what I'm saying. Or
you start thinking like Jack did because you fell down
and broke your crown and somebody fell down behind you.
You figure you can't get up and keep going. But
what I love about that rhyme is that there was
somebody waiting to pay Jack up. Come on here. And
(06:03):
so you gotta know that in life, God gives us
destiny helpers, and it doesn't always have to be somebody
in church. It could be people in your business sector.
It could be somebody that you met at the Walmart.
Okay that has the answer that you are looking for.
So what is analysis paralysis? It is overthinking and endlessly
(06:27):
analyzing decisions leading to in action. You find yourself, I'm
thinking about doing this, I really want to do this.
I was wanting to get into this. You know, maybe
I need to do this, Maybe I need to do that.
How many times do you think and think and then
rethink it again before you do it. That's analysis paralysis
(06:48):
because you're thinking too much. And a lot of us
are overthinkers. That's what they call it today, is overthinking.
We have the tendency to overthink things instead of stepping out.
And you know what, I'm found out stuff that doesn't
really cost us much in the beginning, but we end
up paying a big price for it. You know, something
stupid that say, stupid, something stupid, something dumb, right, that
(07:14):
we really shouldn't make decisions about. We are so quick
to run out and do those things. But things that
are gonna give you a return, things that are gonna,
you know what I'm saying, cause you to prosper, things
that are gonna bless other people. We tend to overthink
those things. Yes, yes we do, Yes we do right
(07:35):
because we're worried about what other people are gonna say.
How are other people gonna receive me? Is my business
gonna fail? What if what I do doesn't work? But
what if it does? Right? Right, We're asking the wrong questions. Okay,
And so a lot of times we'll sit down and
you know what we're saying, Okay, but I'm gonna start my website.
(07:55):
I'm gonna put my website out here. And then you
sit down and you talk to somebody who helps do
websites and all of those things you know, and then
you think about all of your target audience.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
And then you think about what you're gonna put on
your website, and then you think.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
About what it's gonna cost to put the website out,
and then you sit on that you have all of
this framework that you put together, but you haven't launched anything. Yes,
because you're worried about, well, who's gonna buy my stuff?
Nobody until you put the website out. Come on, So
you gotta do something about what you have, okay. And
(08:30):
so what happens to us, we have a fear of imperfection,
and we're waiting to get all the data. We want
to get all the information. I want to know how
it's gonna end before it begins. And that's not gonna help.
You cannot tell you that. And I often say this
that failure is an event, it's not a personality. Traite,
(08:51):
So you gotta be okay with falling on your face.
A lot of times when we see people who are successful,
they have failed more times than they have succeeded. Listen
to me. I have been pastoring into a ministry for
thirty years. Can I tell you that there's a business
side to ministry? There is a huge business side to ministry.
(09:11):
Can I tell you that I've been evicted out of
buildings before? Can I tell you I have lost memberships
and lost money. And if I would have looked at
that to say that, well, maybe I shouldn't do this,
come on, then I wouldn't be doing anything. If I
would have thought about the students that started school with
(09:32):
me and didn't finish, then I would not still being
building schools. Right, I still wouldn't be an educator today.
If I thought about clients in my business coaching and
my life coaching who started out with me, you know,
maybe they picked up a signature of a you know,
a program that I'm doing or something and started out
(09:54):
and then six months later, I don't want to do
it no more. And if I took that as a
a sign that I'm not supposed to do this, I
would not have the experience that I have today, I
would not know that there are still people. It may
not be everybody, and you need to get this in
your mind. You may not be called to everybody. You
may not have a product for everybody. Your business may
(10:17):
not be geared to everybody, but it is geared to somebody.
And your job is to find little somebody. So somebody say,
I'm gonna find little somebody's. So one are the consequences
of overthinking. You miss opportunities, you waste time, and you
you end up sucial and mental exhaustion. Do you know
you can exhaust yourself and you could never have left
(10:40):
the house, never have gone out for the day, but
you sat down thinking all day, thinking about what you
can't do, what's not gonna work, what's not gonna come together. Okay,
so you gotta you have to shift your mind. So
let's talk about a couple of things that we need
to overcome. Because I'm watching this clock and I'm gonna
hurry up, so i'ma do my good news. You are
(11:00):
fast talking, Okay, all right, So here go's some things
that you have to overcome. How am I gonna overcome overthinking?
Number One? You need to set a deadline. You need
to tell yourself. I'm giving myself forty eight hours and
I'm gonna make a decision. I'm going to make a
decision because your inability to make a decision is still
(11:23):
making a decision. Do you understand that you have to decide?
You know, we talked about for a long time, even
before we launched the school in zephyrl Hills, and I
was talking to my Admint and I said to her,
We're gonna start school. Were gonna start school. We gonna
start in school. And then I'm looking at things and
trying to get things together, and then I just I
just felt like, you know, after spending some time in prayer,
(11:44):
looking at things and studying, I said to her one day,
I said, we're gonna start the school. We are gonna
start this year. And we ran into we ran into
different problems. And especially if anybody has ever dealt with
a scholarship program in Florida, you understand that it is
a trip so they can approve all of your students,
and they come back and disapprove all of your students.
(12:05):
But guess what, I understand how bureaucracy works. So I
had planned ABCDEFG And so when they did that, I
had planned B and I said, guess what, We're still
gonna get our funded. We're still gonna start on time,
We're still knocking the quick and guess what, we are
still gonna get get this money so we can do
what we need to do. And did we start, Yes
we did. Did we get funded? Yes we did? And
(12:27):
so you cannot. You gotta set a deadline and you
gotta stick to it. Come hell of high water? Can
I say that I get already, So you have to
stick to it. And it doesn't matter what kind of
obstacles you're gonna face. Everybody faces obstacles. Can I tell
you if you study Thomas Edison when he started, when
(12:49):
he was trying to create the light bulb, he failed
a thousand times. Do you know he changed that over
into a thousand pointers for success? So guess what, just
because you failed the first time doesn't doesn't mean you
gonna fail the second time. And if you failed the
second time, it doesn't mean that you gonna fail the
third time. Come on, you gotta keep going. Let me
(13:11):
move on, let me go. Point number two, the fear
of failure? Why are we afraid? Of fearing to fail
m The definition of a fear of failure is avoiding
risk because of the possibilities. Somebody say possibility. I didn't
say the surety. I said possibility. You are afraid of
(13:31):
what it's going to look like. You're afraid that it
may not work. I never forget when I wrote my
first book and I started my my my publishing company,
I was afraid of what people are gonna say it.
Can I tell you I caught flat for people, This
is not the time for you to write this book.
You should not be writing about that. You didn't even
read the book. You don't even know where it's felt.
(13:51):
What do you mean I shouldn't be writing this. This
is so I need to get out. This is a deadline.
I feel like I need to meet, you know. And
so especially if somebody like me who feels like you
have ninety thousand things to do when you got five
minutes to get it done, you're not listening to other people,
and so you gotta be okay with if things don't
pan out the way that you want them to. And
(14:13):
can I tell you sometimes it's not gonna look like
everything that you want, But at least you need to start.
Somebody say start put it in your notes. I need
to start coming right down, write down. And you may
be successful in some areas, but there may be some
other things that are in your heart that you know
(14:33):
you need to be doing. Start it, okay, So you
can't be afraid of failure, all right. And so sometimes
you have entrepreneurs that never launch because they're afraid of
the fact that somebody's not gonna buy. Let me tell
you something. I got a book for every person on
the market, and I'm not finished. I'm writing one book
every thirty days and I'm publishing it every thirty days.
(14:57):
Why because I know that I Kenn died once it
be it is something out here for everybody. And it's
not all church books. It is church up, but it's
business stuff, it's life stuff. So you got to get
it out of you. And I don't care if four
people buy the book that four people needed that book.
(15:17):
Come on, amen. And so we have to you know,
we look at the world's mentality about success. You gotta
redefine success. Success is accomplishing your goals. Success is not
putting your name in lights. Success is not you know,
everybody know my name. Listen, If that happens in the interim,
(15:38):
God bless your life. But if it doesn't happen, God
bless your life. Again. Listen. It is about making sure
that you fulfill what you are here for, and that
when you die, you don't take with you what you
should have given to the world. Okay, very good, very girl.
Let's keep moving. Okay, let me see number three. I
(15:59):
gotta move because I want to make sure I'm obedient
to time. I got eight minutes, eight minutes, okay. So
let me give you one of a couple of things
that you have to overcome, the fear of failure. You
have to measure progress not perfection. Okay, measure progress not perfection.
Normalize making a mistake. Every failure, somebody say, every failure,
(16:23):
every failure teaches you what not to repeat. So don't
worry about the fact that something didn't work. If I
tell you how many things I have written or done
that didn't come out right, I got a book right now,
I gotta pull it down off of Amazon because what
was I think? Again? That down from there? But guess what,
I had to get it out, you know what I'm saying.
So sometimes you gotta take what you have launch what
(16:46):
you have and then tweak it later. Okay, all right?
And I know in today's world that don't sound right. No,
because honey, because I got to have presentation and this
got to be perfect, and we're not shooting for perfection.
That's not what you're shooting for. You will perfect it
as it goes along, but you gotta first get that
baby out your belly. Come on, all right, let me
(17:09):
move number three, because I wish I had more time,
but I don't. But we're gonna get here, all right.
Number three Fear of the unknown. How many of us
are afraid of what we don't know. I don't know,
I don't know what is that? That is avoiding risk,
because that's the wrong one. Fear the unknown is anxiety
(17:29):
about stepping into unfamiliar territory. Listen, I can talk about that,
you know how I can talk about that because.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
I'd been to several different nations, and sometimes I'll have
to go about myself, yes, without anybody going before.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Me to test the ground. I'm talking about going to
another city. I'm talking about getting on a twenty one
out of flight, flying to another country and going over to.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Some ways that I know that God said for me
to go wow, just to go over.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
There, for God to give me a nation after it.
You are gonna have to take the risks. There are
times that you are not gonna be able to trace
what God has given you, or what you feel called
to do, or what that hunger is that's in you
for this business, for whatever vision you might have. And
it may not be something spiritual, it could be something natural,
(18:19):
but you know that this is something that you have
to do, and so you have to be willing to
step into the unknown. Somebody say, step into the unknown. Okay,
you gotta get out there. The unknown is where innovation, creativity,
and opportunities live. You don't know those opportunities until you
step out there. You've gotta get out of your seat.
(18:41):
You gotta get out of your comfort zone. Sometimes you've
gotta get away from the people who think that you
can't do what you say you can do. This is funny,
but let me tell you this. This is what happened while
we just get ready to come here yesterday. Right, So
we had a long day. We had to work and
it was a long day. Somebody say long day. So
I had to unpack one bag, but repacked my bag
(19:02):
and my family said to me, you've she said she
gonna leave it. She's not getting out of your time, y'all,
not leaving til nine o'clock. I said, give me to
a six fifty be out the store. I went in there,
pulled stuff out of one bag, pulled it, put the
stuff in another bag. And I was like, I might
see y'all. Ain't I got to sixty, I'm not here.
(19:24):
You what's the lesson in that? You ain't gotta believe
in me? I do it. You don'tbody believe in me?
You can say whatever you wanna say. And that's something small,
and we kep keying about it. But honey, that's still
a that's the same, that's a that's a lesson.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
We are surrounded about people who don't think that we will.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
We are surrounded by people, Oh, you're only gonna do this,
You're only gonna do that. If I listened to people,
I would not be getting ready to publish my sixteenth book.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Come on, come on, why because I'm not listening to
what other people have to say.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
So I'm not listening cause and we in and will
continue to a rise. Right, So what do you have
to do? You have things that you have to be
able to overcome so that you are able to do
what is in your heart. Never might say never, never
let somebody else tell you what you can do. Never
(20:20):
let somebody else. And I don't care where you came from.
And a lot of times we'll fight in genealogy, we'll
fight in our DNA, We'll fighting where we came from. Listen,
I can talk to all of that. And I tell
this wherever I go, because why this is my testimony.
This girl was locked up in the mental institution, in
a straight jacket, walking back and forth. I needed a
(20:41):
pill to get up in the morning, a pill to
keep me going during the day, and appeal the lady
out at night. You cannot tell me that God is
not a deliverer. And when you have been called to
touch people's lives, there is nothing. Did I say nothing.
I don't care about your life circumstances. I don't care
if you've been divorced. I don't care who died. I
don't care who didn't leave you an inheritance, baby, you
(21:04):
are the inheritance. You're not gonna put hate your own
Here is lovely that you cannot do if you give
your life to God, and let God let you walk
this world that you put you in. And I'm telling you,
it's the business, it's the it's the ministry, it's the family,
it's the whatever it is that's in your heart, you
got to go after it. This is why I gave
(21:25):
you these scriptures. In the beginning Isaiah forty one to ten,
he said, fear not, for I am with you. That's
the long and the short. It doesn't matter. If your
husband don't go, with your children don't go, if your
family don't go. God said, I am with you. And
if God is with you, you don't need nobody else.
And I think that big you want in saying that's all.
(21:46):
As long as I got kid jeus, I understand that
now you do need people. But I tell you what,
when you're starting out, sometimes you may not have people.
You may only have God. You may only have your vision.
You may only have your dream. Take your dream, take
your vision and make it work. You gonna be the
rest of the notes in your own time. And I
(22:12):
got too many stuits. You gotta get. Yeah you can.
Let's get rid of those scrolls. Yes, can we play
that together? Let's get read it off Chrome
