(00:01):
Well, come back into the Arkishaexperience. My name is Archie say this
is the experience. Yes, onceagain on the road because you already know.
Um, I want to talk aboutthe World Series starting tonight. It's
the Braves, obviously, the underdogsas per usual, taking on the Houston
(00:27):
Astros who are the favorites, maybeunnecessarily so. And they'll start off in
Houston at Enron or Minute Maide orwhatever that field is it Right now,
it doesn't really matter to me becauseit's at the point of this discussion and
I want to talk about the startof the World Series just a moment.
(00:48):
But it reminds you that Jason Johnsonis the real estate king of North Alabama.
Oh man, this dude is killingit. And by killing it,
I've been getting you great numbers foryour next house, or for selling your
current current house, or for justgetting into building your own house from scratch.
(01:10):
He can do all of this andmore from soup to nuts, as
they like to say, from thebeginning of the process to the end.
Jason Johnson of Capstone Realty is therealist of once and I think you should
contact him. I don't know, like now, if you're sort of interested
in house in North Alabama. Maybetake a quick pause in this podcast after
I tell you the phone number totext to say hey, listen, Arque
(01:34):
was talking about young little podcast, and you know, talk to me about
the thing. Talk to me aboutwhat you got going on and what you
can do for me. The wayyou do that is by calling or texting
two five six three zero three threeseven zero fours two five six three zero
three three seven zero four. Youcan also start that process online Jason find
(01:59):
my home dot com. He isgoing to be the man that sells our
house when in his time it findsus our next one. And I would
trust no one else with it.So Jason Johnson Capitol realt to go to
Jason finds my home dot com.The World Series, as we mentioned us,
starts to nine. It's not ahuge shock. Everyone knows it was
(02:19):
going to be the Atlanta Braves fromthe beginning it was Kiss midsum. It's
been a bizarre season for the forthe Braves, which which is interesting because
they were plus six hundreds to winthe World Series to start the offseason.
So as soon as the World Seriesis done last year in October, they
(02:44):
put out the new odds, andthe Braves were not distant underdogs. They
were in the top handful of teamsthat were contenders because the look of this
team right, look at the loadedlineup that the Braves had coming into the
season, assuming Mike Zaroka would beable to come back to east to the
staff, assuming Ronald Coonia wasn't gonnaget hurt before the All Star Game,
(03:08):
assuming Marcella Zuna wasn't going to havehimself some domestic issues early on in the
season. Everything being equal, thisteam was on the road to being another
contender with a really one team intheir way, and that was honestly,
(03:28):
the Dodgers. Like they've met inthe NLCS last year, it was only
right to sort of expect that matchupto happen again coming into this season.
And then again we stared at theBraves, who didn't get above five hundred
until August fifth, thinking this makessense. Azuna has gone, ronald A
(03:50):
Coonia had gone, Mike Zaroka gothurt again before he was even able to
get close to coming back. Whatare you really gonna do? Right,
It's sort of us semi lost season. The Braves never quits. The Raids
battled Alexanthopolis, the general manager ofthe Atlanta Braves, made some trade deadline
(04:12):
moves that paid huge dividends, includingthe guy who won the NLCS MVP.
That's right, any Rosario who wasin a nice sweet trade with Cleveland for
Pablo's Andival. And you know,Pablo's Nival started out the season kind of
cute, getting a couple of pitchhit home runs, and all of a
sudden it was a little like, hey, hey, we got ourselves a
(04:36):
little bit of a Panda party goingon. But he was sort of never
more than that, and then hewent into a slump, and then he
got protected by not having to gointo many games, and then Cleveland wanted
to get rid of Rosario and everythingwork out again, kissman. So the
Braves go into this as not heavyunderdogs against at Houston, but as slight
(04:58):
underdogs. I think to the seriesitself, the Braves are like plus one
twenty five to win the series?Would is it terrible? And going into
the game itself, I think Houston'slike a one one fifty in Game one.
If I'm not mistaken, the linemay have changed instead of last seen
it earlier this morning, So Houstonis expected to win the World Series,
(05:24):
and that's completely fine to expect that, But why not the Braves, Like
if you just take out the record, which again, as we know,
was not gonna be great because theydidn't get about five hundred until you know,
August fifth, why not the Braves. The Braves have been red hot
(05:51):
since they made those moves at theend of ju life at the trade deadline.
The Braves I think had the bestrecord since the trade deadline. The
Braves ended up running away with theirdivision at the end, despite the fact
that they shouldn't have, based onthe key injuries that they had, based
on how bad quote unquote Branson andcareers as a manager, based on how
(06:16):
bad quote unquote that bullpen was supposedto be during these last couple of months
of the season and in the postseason, everyone's been pretty money, pretty damn
good. And they did it,of course against Milwaukee, and it was
the guy who did not give upa home run and like a million of
(06:36):
bats in hater who gave up whatwas the clinching two run home run to
Freddie Freeman in the eighth the lostthat series. Milwaukee was supposed to be
better. And then in the NLCS, well as Los Angeles, who was
clearly better. Right. I mean, we can forget about the fact that
(06:59):
the Braves were up three games toone against them last year in the NLCS.
They blew that serious lead. True, that did happen, but also
the Braves were good enough to getup to that three game to one serious
lead. And yes, you couldback it up a little bit more by
saying, hey, Ronald McCune isnot there. Marcella Zuna, who was
on the team, was not there. Was not there. Um, sorry,
(07:20):
guys, it's just not the season. You ran into a buzz song
and the Braves again went up ona three game to one serious lead when
he won of the games in LosAngeles. Remember last year that CS,
that NLCS was in Texas. Itwas a global life field for the rain
(07:41):
Tres play and it's different. Let'sjust say when you get to go play
in Truest Park or you get togo play at Chavez Ravine, like,
it's different. And the Braves handledit well. The Braves won one of
the three, which is all theyreally needed when they won the first two
in Atlanta. But again, nowit's another discussion of the Braves not being
(08:07):
able to do it, And whyis this no? Just just think about
it for a minute. Why can'tthe Braves. I wrote a piece raut
kid bets today, right, andI said, for the very top four
disclosure, I am a Braves fan. I am hashtag for the eight all
right, I've only been there forabout five years. You know, I'm
(08:28):
a new fan. I get it. So I'm not gonna get all super
excited and tighten the shorts with thisteam as other people should because they've been
life longers with it. Another time, I'll told the story about why I
switched teams, and I think itmakes a lot of sense, but you
know whatever. And I broke downa couple of prop bets I had,
(08:50):
and then one of them was whoI thought was gonna win, uh,
the NLCS MVP or the guy Iwould put money on, which is what
I always say with these bets, which just if I'm willing to write it
down, I'm putting my money onit. So whatever I'm risking by telling
you to make it bets, I'malready betting it myself. So I'm in
(09:15):
it with you. And I'm notjust trying to tout picks or anything.
I'm legitimately putting money on the picksthat I put out there, so win
or lose whatever, financially I'm involved. This isn't high takeness and full disclosure.
I put up there that I wasfor the eight and the guy I
picked to win the NLC assuming theWorld Series MVP, was Freddie Freeman.
(09:41):
And it's not the wildest of picks. He's plus a thousand, which is
really good money. I mean tendollars to hit you a hundred, you
know, not the dumbest thing inthe world. Freddie Freeman was the National
League Most Valuable Player last year, and Freddie Freeman was super super high the
last four months of the season.Oh and Freddie Freeman despite the fact that
(10:05):
Rosario won the NLCS MVP, andrightfully so. Uh since that Game two
of the Dodgers game where he struckout four times, he hit four sixty
two okay um, including m ohfor one in his last game, but
that's because he was walked four timesin his last game in game six,
meaning he was hot enough they didn'twant to pitch to him. You understand,
(10:31):
a guy who's been in the leaguewell over a decade during that kind
of respect um, they didn't wantto pitch to him again, rightfully,
So so to say that that is, you know, such a wild pick.
I wouldn't say that, but youknow, the first comment that I
got, maybe I'll be the onlyone on the on the on the piece
already when they called me a fanboy. Yeah, I get it.
(10:54):
You know, my team's in andI'm picking them essentially to win the World
Series because he would go on andu um uh the Raisers had to win
for him to go on to winthat, to win that award. So
I do think the Brais will winthe World Series. Um, but I
wouldn't have said that last year ifyou had asked me, I think that
(11:18):
this year. I think sometimes there'sjust a specialness about a team. You
know that they're not only hot theright time, but they're hot with the
right people. And it's not gonnasay anything about Marcello Zuna's talent or or
Ronald Une Junior's talent that they're allgreat obviously, Mike Saroka, but this
(11:41):
team's figured themselves out and they mademoves to fill the holes that made them
more than discontinues. Their four gamesaway from the whole damn thing, and
then they're gonna take out a hustonAstros team who was reeling. Doesn't ask
you to say Las Color is noteven gonna pitch in the World Series now
as a starter, now as areliever, not as anything. Last the
Color is arguably the best pitcher onthat staff. I'll even argue that's inarguable.
(12:07):
Can you argue and inarguable I thinkI would argue the fact that you
can't argue it. He's not gonnapitch on this He's not gonna pitch in
the World Series. So why notthe Braves? Why not the Atlantic Braves
this season? It's not a perfectseries, baby stretch. Not everyone's at
(12:31):
full health. The use an Astrosif they were at full health against this
Braves team, Yeah, maybe youknow. I think four of the top
five picks for World Series MVP areall Astros. And that's fine. I'll
tow Bay and Brake men like,I get it. I get it.
They're they're they're good bats. Butthe Braves pitching is just gone through a
(12:56):
pretty low to set of bats too. They went through Becks and Bellinger and
Seeger and like they've they've done thistoo. It's not fresh it's not new,
it's old hats. They've proven thatthey can do it. The Astros
(13:16):
went through a team in Boston wholiterally can't pitch or camp field, and
they were hot and hitting for alittle while. Eventually that cooled. Who
wasn't necessarily the great pitching. Theyfigured out there was one particular pitch that
the guys couldn't catch up to thefastballs, and they just can't hammer them
with fastballs. And he stopped sendingoff speed stuff and they can hit and
(13:41):
boom, they stopped scoring. It'sBraves teams. And I like that.
It's Braves teams better than that RedSox team. It's much better than that
Red Sox team. So why can'tit be the Atlanta Braves the season?
You told me just because I'm beinga fan boy, maybe, but I'm
(14:03):
also willing to put the money onthe fan boyness this time. And I'm
you know, some of you mayknow that I am very much esticular about
where I put my money, verymuch esticular. I believe it with my
wallet as well as my heart thistime. Why not the Braves? You
tell me? Why not? TheBraves are the Asters here? Is that
(14:26):
much better than this pitching staff.Maybe by name value, but look at
the numbers. Look what the Bravesbullpen has done this entire postseason. The
weakest part of this team has beenhis strength at the right time. Could
Could it all implode? Of course, it could all implode. It's gambling
(14:50):
in sports. All kinds of stuffhappens, man. But if I'm basing
it based on what I've seen sofar this postseason and what I feel,
which is not the fanboydns, butit's the momentum that one of these teams
has. I still like Atlanta inAtlanta lost a lot of favor with betters
(15:18):
early on in the season, andI get it you don't want to back
him anymore, But this isn't thesame Braves team that was in May,
in June and July. It's theteam you expected in May, in June
and July coming into the season, and although the faces are different, the
results are turning out to be thesame. So if you don't want to
trust him, I get it,But I think I'm gonna make my money
(15:41):
trusting him. And if you wantto be on the other side of that,
that's good, and that makes mea fanboy. That's okay. Because
this money will make me some fanboy. I'll also say this, and
just small defense of me, Ithought the Braves were gonna be really good
this season too. It did notwork out that way. Even with Ronald
(16:02):
Coune. You're healthy and Marcella isn'tin the in the lineup. So if
you subscribe to my service at picksand stuff dot com, I don't think
you got a Braves play until rightnear the end of the season. Basically
(16:22):
in June, I gave up onthe Braves as part as my money was
concerned. Couldn't bet them one wayor the other. They were too all
over the place. Now they getmy money.
