Speaker 1 (00:00):
Creativity is an addiction, unplugged because we will always say
yes to creativity, totally uncut because we all make mistakes.
So let's turn it into a tool. This is Arrow unplugged.
I love asking questions the reason why. The fun begins
when you start researching for answers such as why is
telling someone no so difficult? Plus why are teenagers destroying

(00:24):
movie theaters these days? My name is Arrow. I'm a
daily writer, A silent wolf. That means I stand on
the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen, study, then activate.
The daily Mess a chronological walk through an everyday world. Yep,
it's my morning writing As a receiver of thoughts and ideas,
we as people tend to throw things to the side
because we're gonna deal with it later. Yeah, okay, Well,

(00:46):
when a subject arrives inside of me, I know it's
time to dig in. It's still keeping a daily journal,
but by doing the research, the picture becomes clearer. This
is the daily mess. Why is telling someone no so difficult?
Fear of conflict leads the way, followed by a need
to please and or be liked. So many of us

(01:07):
lack self confidence to set boundaries, and we feel horrible
and very guilty when we do say no. The only
reason why I bring this up is due to what
we bring to the moment of possibility. A great example
was our most recent invitation to play music on a
glorified houseboat. Up on top the staircase only twenty one
inches wide. My equipment the average twenty two to twenty

(01:29):
five inches wide. How are we getting up there from here?
It took us six hours to finally say no. Why. Well,
digging deeper into the psychology of it all, it unveils
a fear of conflict, the need to please others, a
serious lack of that confidence like we talked about, and
the ultimate heavyweight guilt. Nobody wants to experience someone else's disapproval.

(01:54):
But in my case, if I had not gone to
the boat to see the way that it was, that
performance on that particular day would have been met up
with twenty one inch wide steps twenty five inch wide speakers.
There's nothing wrong with saying no, especially when it comes
to losing money. Hey, coming up next, something really crazy

(02:14):
is taking place. Teenagers are destroying movie theaters. Why, Hey,
welcome back to the daily mess. Why are teenagers destroying
movie theaters while watching the movie Minecraft. The actual moment
takes place in what's called the chicken Jockey scene, in
which a character belts chicken jockey while a baby zombie
appears on the screen riding a chicken like a horse.

(02:37):
That's when viewers starts shouting out the token phrase while
jumping on seats and throwing a lot of popcorn. Listen.
As disgusting as it sounds, this is far from being new.
I came up in the age of the Rocky Horror
Picture Show where people were expected to bring more than
popcorn to throw. I'm talking rubber gloves snap three times

(02:58):
during Frank's creative speech, wh playing cards thrown during the
song I'm Going Home. Toilet paper thrown when Doctor Scott
enters the lab, Convetti shot up into the air at
the end of the Charles Atlas song. Physical toast thrown
during Frank's toast party. Hats, newspapers, noisemakers, and even bells.

(03:18):
This was the Rocky Horror Picture Show nineteen seventy five,
fifty years ago, and here we are in twenty twenty
five and Minecraft is getting some attention. You gotta kind
of ask yourself what took so long to have such
a movie experience. I'm Eryl and that's the daily mess

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
