I'm a firm believer of doing whatever mystery allows us to chase. It's not that we ever want to locate the source of why we're on the journey, the energy of the mystery guides our midnight sailing ships.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
My boy Ernie. Ernie is a Blue Crown conyer. For
over thirty two years he has overlooked this forest right
here in South Charlotte, North Carolina. I mean, every day,
Ernie sits in his beautiful home, overlooking these trees, the
nearby lake, and every bit the wildlife which is freely
stroming on this amazing piece of land. Ernie and I

(00:20):
share the same daily visions. It's this forest. We both
look into the trees and study the earth below. There's
just something very spiritual going on here. The lyrics to
Ernie's Forest, we both receive an amazing amount of energy.
I put a lot of trust and skills as a
student into what he is willing to share with me.
These aren't my words, these are the lyrics from Ernie's Forest,

(00:45):
chapter number four hundred twenty two, April thirteenth, twenty twenty four.
I've known for over three decades of the cave on
the opposite side of Heartbreak Hill, right here in Ernie's Forest.
In earlier years, the exploration to participate with the fun
of your children led us to the opening of this cave.
But I've not been back since. It's in this forest

(01:08):
and nobody really wants to talk about the cave. One
family says that a fox was living inside, while another
wants nobody to walk across their land to reach this
mysterious hole in the wall of a very tall hill. Now,
I openly admit that I want to return to the cave,
but feel in my heart that I cannot do it alone.

(01:28):
What if there are bats or other wild creations inside
and they've made it their home for the past three decades.
I would then be looked upon as being the invader,
and they would have every right to put up a
fight gaining the confidence to travel inside another owner's space.
I'm writing about this with high hopes that one day

(01:49):
the universe will give me the strength to enter the cave.
The great mystery, the fear of their being nothing. Now,
the current owner of this cave is Jason. Before that
it was Paige and John and two other owners. Before that,
I have been to the cave. I stare at that

(02:11):
cave every day I walk down and then up Heartbreak Hill.
It's right there, now, is it the mystery of the cave?
Three decades later that is keeping me from entering the cave?
Because there's nothing worse than your imagination not getting what
it thinks is in there. I mean, it could be

(02:32):
a big gigantic boogey monster, you know those things that
live beneath your bed, and when you finally look, it's like, hey,
there ain't nothing here. Maybe that's the reason why I
don't want to go to the cave, because the mystery
of it all seems more fun. Now, let's turn this
around into your life. What is the one thing that

(02:53):
you want to do, but something deep inside of you
is saying, there's nothing here. Man, you're really wasting your
time that you're not going to get back because it's
going to be just like Heraldo Rivera with that gigantic
safe from al Capone in Chicago. We waited a long
time for Haraldo Rivera to get in to a moment

(03:17):
of nothingness. And how do you personally react to something
like that when you allow yourself to think it's upstairs
in the attic. One day, I'll go up to the
attic and i'll get it. I'll pick it up, I'll
make sure that I have it. And then when you
go to look for it, you can't find it. It's
not been in the attic yet. Your imagination, all of

(03:37):
those chapters before said it's up there in the attic.
There's an article that I have been looking for for years.
It's an article that was written by the Charlotte Observer
about me being up to replace Casey Casem on American
Top forty. Do you think I can find that article?
I cannot. Now would it be easier just to go

(03:58):
to the Charlotte Observer and just another one? Sure it would,
But that doesn't seem to be fun. Where's the adventure
in something so simple that could be on microfilm or something,
and it's like, Okay, what happened here? Where's the investigation?
Where is the show prep? Where is that? That's right?
And the same thing is happening in your own personal life.

(04:19):
If you don't have that sense of accomplishment attached to
mystery and drama, conflict and of course the possibility of failure,
do you really want to make the journey? I'm eron.
These are not my words, These are the lyrics from

(04:41):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
