(00:02):
Good morning, good afternoon, goodevening, and welcome everyone to ourscaston in
between. I am your host,Eileen aka Aileen Though to please something get
toe like as this guy, whetherit's a heart, star, a thumbs
up. Lets me know that youhave enjoyed this podcast, and I greatly
appreciate each and every one of youfor listening already. Guys, So I
I'm behind on my collections. I'mworking on them as fast as I can,

(00:23):
and I will as soon as Ican post about the Gemini and the
Fatherhood Collection, which are the onesthat are coming up. And if you
use Welcome ten, you've got tenpercent off your first order, which can't
be combined with any other sale andis a one time use code. I'm
also thinking about making the father HoodCollection thirty percent off. We will We'll

(00:48):
see, you know. I thinkit's it's just fair. So uh,
today's podcast is kind of inspired bya installation here in New York City.
Yeah, so, as you guysknow, I love well, let me

(01:11):
not say that completely. I enjoyart. I you know, I did
well in art class. In thebeginning, I wasn't a huge fan of
it. There are some pieces thatwhen I was younger, I was kind
of like, yeah, no.There was one insulation that I saw,
I believe in the Metropolitan Art Museum. I've explained this before, where you

(01:34):
know, I saw pencils and I'mthinking to myself, you know, kids
in my school, could you seethese pencils, like you know? But
uh yeah, So I kind ofwas like mixed meta was not my thing.
And then I as I got older, I started to enjoy it and
made a few pieces myself. Nothingart, you know, like I don't

(01:57):
want to say not for me.It was just art is just fun.
But I don't want to say anyyou know, like anything museum where they
if that makes any sense. Butso the Dublin portal, Yeah, honestly,
I really didn't think that this wasa brilliant idea. I think that

(02:19):
because we are in such turmoil asa city, I kind of feel like
this was a poorly decided idea.I think that it is a cute and
fun idea, but it has alot of drawbacks to it because you know,

(02:43):
people are people and they're going todo some things, and which is
happening. The portal did get shutdown. I have heard that the portal
is going to run the city betweenfive and ten thousand for installation more or

(03:06):
less, I don't. I've lookedat the numbers and I'm like, h
that's kind of a little bit ofestimating a little bit I was thinking,
and I did look it up,and I'm like, I'm thinking it's costing
more. But you know, becausepeople will never give you the octual numbers

(03:27):
anyways. Anyways, let me stupwith my conspiracy theories. I'll let you
guys know how this insulation is whatI don't like about it right now.
I kind of feel like any money, any extra money, and I know
that we do have money for thearts, and I'm not saying let's take

(03:53):
it away what I am, butwhat what I would like to propose is
that we use money, like let'ssay more free days to the museum,
more free days to concert, moreconcerts that are more park concerts that would
be nice to have nighttime park concert, jazz concerts, whether it's ay,

(04:19):
whether it's night. I feel thatthose things would be a lot more or
even more money for maybe let's sayarts and crafts in the library or in
the museum or things of that nature. I kind of feel like this portal

(04:42):
thing is a disaster. I don'tthink that it's necessary. I think that
it's just something that somebody decided,and I just I I wonder who,
okay this considering that the city isin you know there streets, and I

(05:12):
know that we want to bridge ourworlds together, you know, we we
are a multi pot and we wantto get to see new people and new
places. But I kind of justfeel like it's just the same you over
and over again. Yes, differentpeople, but at the same time,
different people are doing really discussing andnasty things on both sides. So let's
let's not I don't want to saythat New Yorkers are not playing their part

(05:39):
before people say, oh well NewYork. I already know New York.
Okay, I understand you guys. And the thing that gets me so upset
is that New Yorkers get even aworse rap because I feel that the media
and Hollywood keep going with the sameold stereotype and it's just I really wish

(06:04):
they would stop, but it iswhat it is. And so the one
thing that I can honestly say iswhen it comes to nine to eleven,
don't don't don't I think that youguys are Dublin is being extremely discussing.
I don't know why somebody would dosomething like that. I think that that

(06:29):
is morally wrong, sick and twisted. And I think that you guys are
we need to just take that installation. And my cat wants to join me
on the podcast. I think thatit should be just taken up, honestly,
plain and simple. I don't thinkthat it is an installation that is

(06:51):
going to benefit anybody in the longrun. I actually think that it's going
to sour relations and people are justgonna say at the end of the day
that, oh, New York isa problem. Uh. And you know,
there's been nudity, there's been middlefingers pointed. I'm sure there's going

(07:12):
to be a lot of more peopleand and and the thing is, it's
just a lot more people are gonnawant that installation and taken down. I
really didn't like the idea if Iwas like, what is the point of
this? This doesn't make any sense. And I understand, you know when
it thought about it, Oh,it's the bridge grabs, you know,
to see people and let them seewhat you know, New York looks like.

(07:32):
And we can see what Dublin lookslike. But obviously it just became
a nightmare, a pr nightmare atthat one, and I just think that
it's should be just taken down andmaybe something else should be put in place
so that we uh can know thatthe money is being used in a better

(07:57):
in a better light. You know, we are having a high, highly
I tumotuous relationship with landlords and apartments. It's just insane the amount of money
that apartments have to go before. And I know that that money is not
dedicated to that, and I knowthat arts and music is important, and

(08:22):
I do want to see that moneygoing towards those types of programs. But
for everybody, I feel that, especially since school is going to be coming
to an end, not an end, let me not saying you know the
school kids are done for the season. You know they're going to be graduating
college. You know, things likethat high school, junior, high school,

(08:43):
and if you did graduate this yearor you moved up or stepped up
into the next gay, congratulations seeyou, whether it's high school, middle
school, college, congratulations. Iknow that it's hard and difficult, but
you guys made it. Congrats.Yeah, you know, we got like
one month and yeah, June, that's it pretty much, and then you

(09:07):
know that that that's it. Youknow, then their their own break.
So it would be nice to havemore programs available to parents that need,
you know, something to distract thelittle ones and to be fun for them
and great for the whole family.I think that that would be a nice,

(09:28):
nicer and better way to spend yourmoney and your time. And I
think that it would be less headacheand better. I feel that for the
media's sake, it would be anicer day for them to do something to
report on these amazing ideas, andI think that a lot of families would

(09:54):
enjoy something like that instead of somethingthat's actually I feel turning people apart and
being discussing rude and nasty to oneanother. Again, that is just my
thoughts that it's just my opinion.I I haven't actually seen the installation.
I don't think I'm gonna go into, you know, I kind of

(10:18):
and I don't want to knock itbecause unfortunately the I think it's called the
birth neest I forgot exactly what it'scalled. That one got torn not torn
down, but it got shut downdue to safety concerns. And unfortunately people
were who were depressed went there, and I don't want to say depressed unlive

(10:45):
themselves from from that structure. SoI kinda at first, honestly, I
didn't like that idea as well.I did see it in passing. It
looks cute, but I don't know, I kind of feel like that would
have been a nice little opportunity formaybe like little stalls in terms of like

(11:07):
little shopping area, a little restaurant. I know it's not that big,
but you know something, I don'tknow, I just kind of feel like
it just you know, what ismore to it. It's just a structure
that and it's very unique. It'svery cute, again, something I don't
think that the city needed. ButI am not on the council for the

(11:31):
city, but you know, hey, I can see the appeal of the
structure. Is nice and tall, you get to see different views of the
city. I think the city isabsolutely amazing and beautiful and would love to
see every angle of it as muchas possible. But yeah, in any
case, let's go back to theDouble Institution, the Doublin Portal. Yeah,

(11:56):
I think that it should just beshut down. They shut it down
uh for a little while, andthen they were like, Okay, well
we're going to adjust it to blowcertain things. But it doesn't look like
it's gonna it's gonna get any better. And I think that it's just gonna
get worse, and I think thatwe should just shut it down and yeah,

(12:16):
do something better with the money.I do feel sorry for the person
that came up with this, orthe persons or the company that came up
with this idea. I know thatthey probably worked extremely hard on it and
had the best intentions, but sometimesthese things go awry and happen, and

(12:37):
we always forget human nature, andhuman nature, unfortunately, is not the
best whether you're from whatever country, whatever state. Because again I don't want
to hear, oh it's because you'rein New York. It's everybody, let's
let's not go there. Yeah.I don't know. I just been here.

(13:00):
I'm reading a lot more negative commentsabout New York and I just was
like, ill, like those thingsnever happened in other states or other countries,
like come on, no, likereally, so yeah, my my
other my experience of this that Ican honestly say with somebody, and it

(13:24):
is a now deleted comment about someported parties that were aligned the route of
the parade route. First, notCentral Park, sorry presspeck Pork. I
was actually thinking about going to CentralPark. But anyways, Presbury Park here
in Brooklyn, New York. Andsomebody literally said, oh, it's that

(13:46):
that's for the illegals. It's like, dude, I just immediately deleted the
the the comment because I was somad. But that is actually for the
parade route, which the parade willbe on Monday. They have a nice
little parade. Uh. Some peoplecall it the Memorial Day Parade, some

(14:09):
people call it, I know itas the West Indian Parade. So uh,
that is what that is for.And yeah, I mean I probably
could have said it, but Ijust I don't know, it's just so
angry. But here is a primeexample of you know, obviously somebody who

(14:30):
either is not one who knows aboutthe parade, or two is not even
from here. So anyways, butback to what I was saying, I
just, like I said, I'vebeen hearing a lot of negative and very
unintelligent comments about New York. Soyeah, I think that this before it
gets worse and out of hand. You know, I think that the installation

(14:56):
should be taken down and maybe themoney should be put into another project that
would benefit everybody in the end andin terms of arts and in the arts.
And I'm really really sorry. LikeI said to the person I came

(15:16):
up with this idea, it soundslike a really cool, fun idea,
but unfortunately it's leaning towards a reallynot in a really good light. And
maybe who knows, in the futurewe can try again. But anyway,
guys, I'm gonna end it herebecause I feel like I'm just blobbing at

(15:37):
this point. But as I said, uh, just try and be kind
to one another. If the installationis going to continue, just try and
to be kind and courteous, andjust remember if you have nothing nice to
say, don't say it at all. That's just my model of things.

(16:00):
So yeah, anyway, guys,I will see you next week, and
as always, thank you for listening. If you guys have any any comments
or questions, please don't forget toleave them mumble and that will be all
bye for now, guys,
