(00:02):
Good money, good afternoon and evening. I'm welcome everyone's as cussing in between.
I am your host, Eileen akaEileen little Craft. Please don't forget
too like a subscribe, whether it'sa hard star dumbs up. Lets me
know that I'm doing a good topand I appreciate your feedback. Alrighty,
guys, thank you so much forlistening to last week's podcast. I got
some news. Oh my goodness, you guys. So apparently it's more condition
(00:25):
pricing and things that politically that Iagree with and disagree with. So it's
a kind of a bit of along one. So I'm gonna try and
keep the topics separate as possible.Again, these are just my thoughts,
my opinions, and you are freeto agree to disagree and yeah, so
let's get into it already. Soas you guys, no, condition pricing
(00:49):
has been the topic, the hottopic in here in New York, and
we are some of us are forit and some of us are against it.
There was a lot of hearings, there was a lot of proposals,
and there was a lot of thingsthat people wish, uh, you know,
contestion pricing could help maybe free bussingwas one of them. Maybe lower
(01:14):
down the pricing of actually taking thesubway on the bussing, but none of
that is going to be happening. So yeah, because it's been X need
don't know for how long, butwe shall see, we shall see,
and yeah, okay, so myfirst thought is I'm want to be out
(01:38):
on this with you. I amhappy, I'm I think that this should
never have been a thing. Ithink that the MCA really needs to think
about, uh clearing the way formaybe outside sources to you know, check
(02:00):
their books and maybe check their systems. That's just me. I they don't
know if that could be done orshould that be done, but I do
feel that there are there are andhas been a huge mismanagement of of of
(02:23):
the empty in general, and weneed to fix it because it just is
bleeding over is bleeding everywhere home inNew York, and it's making people upset
and angry, and I just andon top of that, we are now
(02:44):
experiencing a rampant of multiple crimes onthe subway system. I kind of feel
like it is the eighties but alittle worse, and we need to figure
out a way how to do this. I do not think that waiting on
(03:06):
trains with cameras is going to work. Unfortunately, my thing of police on
the train and on the track. Some people will agree, some people will
not disagree. It may also leadto other problems because you know, everyone
is worried or scared that they're goingto be profiled in a negg of light.
(03:31):
So, you know, racism isa huge, huge problem here.
It's huge everywhere. But I couldonly speak for where I know of,
but I do know that it isa huge problem around around the States.
But anyways, so and there areofficers that, let's be honest with you,
(03:59):
I don't think, no the Lordthe way they're supposed to know.
But you know, hey, that'sjust me agree to disagree. I know
that they do their jobs. Iknow that they try to be fair and
and you know, beautiful, andsome of them, not all of them.
I can't say that because I havemet some great officers, and I
(04:23):
have made some met some officers thatI'm like, yeah, okay, you
you really need to go back tothe academy. So but anyways, that
is not the topic that we arediscussing today. So back to congestion pricing.
(04:44):
So congestion pricing was this huge, big plan that everyone wanted to have
a saying. Everybody wanted a pieceof the pie. Everybody wanted to put
their input, everybody wanted, youknow, it to go a certain way.
And in the final hours it justsaid wah wah wah. And I'm
(05:08):
kind of glad for that. Wanwoa. I don't think that this is
something that would be great already onthe heavily tax New Yorkers. And again,
I stress this so much that whenyou are a licensed driver, you
(05:33):
already have to pay hey road tax. I don't understand why I have to
pay for the ncaa service that honestlyI don't like using anymore. It is
unreliable, not safe, and Iwish there was a way that we can
(05:55):
put in the money without having Ijust I don't know. Anyways, I
I am sorry that it, youknow, for those people who were hoping
for it, you know, tobetter the empty system. But at the
same time, it's gonna hurt businessesall over New York. It's not just
my hand. It's gonna hurt allthe five boroughs in so many different ways.
(06:15):
And it's gonna hurt Jersey. Youknow it's gonna hurt everybody that's coming
in to New York. And youknow, let's just be real. When
the pandemic hit, we are stillnot everybody can do where New York is
back in New York is back. No, we're not, We're not.
And programs that need to be putin place, such as better housing,
(06:39):
low income housing, mental health facilitiesare still not in place. And it's
just it boggles my mind that peopleknow that these things need to be put
into place to help other human beings, but yet now all of a sudden,
there's no money. So it's justyeah, So here is the story.
(07:04):
The story is basically that Governor Hopefulwas started finally was thinking about how
New Yorkers really haven't recovered, especiallythe mom and pop stores and literality and
Chinatoon have not fully recovered from thepandemic and this would basically hurt the communities,
which is the truth. It willhurt the communities extremely, And these
(07:26):
are communities have been here for foreverever, even before I kind of feel
like there was this my hand. These communities were here. They were here.
So she finally, I guess heardthat. And then on top of
(07:47):
that, the political blowback is thatwe would lose the boats in the and
the upcoming House. There is agovernment official in Brooklyn, I can't remember
if he's Congressman Centerment or whatever. He I think he's going to be running
(08:11):
to be Speaker of the House andI wish him the best of luck.
I think that he finally reached outto her and said, hey, this
is going to be and I'm sureother elective Democratic official officials have reached out
to her and said, hey,I don't think that this is a really
good idea. I know that alot of governors have stated to her like,
(08:31):
hey, this is not a goodidea because people from our districts are
you know, are part of theNeck of the Woods, are basically coming
into your study and providing good qualityservices, and this is going to hurt
you in the long run, whichis the truth. It is a shame
(08:52):
that she she in the beginning, did not see this and just said no,
it already passed up in Albany, and I don't know if the MTA
is going to be like, well, it already passed, So I'm hoping.
I'm praying it doesn't come to that, because that's kind of what I
was thinking, I'm like, Okay, well, if it passed an Albany,
does the governors still have the rightto say And I'm hoping, I'm
(09:16):
praying that she does. But theother point of it towards the end,
which was briefly mentioned, which kindof made me sick to my stomach,
was that she also then stated thatmaybe a business tax could subsidize the condition
pricing, and I'm like, openmouth, insert foot, You you do
(09:43):
realize that within another half a year, maybe even Certner, there's a possibility
of another fair hike somm Yeah,So how is condition pising going to help?
I thought that that was supposed tobe. You know something, you
guys we're working out. I knowthat the MTA really did their best to
(10:05):
try and look good in the mediaby having this big mess of oh,
you may qualify for a low fear, Oh do you want a job,
come work for us at the MTA, And again I'm glad that they did
that, But at the same time, I'm just taking my head and I
guess I'm the cynical side of me. It's like, yeah, you're just
trying to look good in front ofthe cameras and you're saying, oh,
(10:28):
condition pricing can even do more,we can do even better. And then
the other thing is that now stationmanagers can hear complaints from writers in certain
subway stations and during certain hours. That is another thing that they did to
try and look good in front ofthe public. I also recently heard,
(10:48):
which is crazy, that we arealso now probably with another couple year or
maybe next year, I don't knowwhen, but we are also going to
get be getting a new public nonot no public side. My apologies,
coffee kick in a new NCA presidentwho congratulations by the way, I who
is a rail road sorry, arail man basically the ones that help fix
(11:13):
the extra tracks and probably I don'tknow if it's the same thing because I
don't know the certain jobs. Possiblymaybe helps clean them. Again, I
don't know what a real rail mandoes, but I know that he worked
from the bottom, he said, all the way to the top. And
congrats man, that is awesome. You you deserve it and much more.
(11:35):
And I hope that this is thesmooth transition because you're gonna need a lot
of help. It is absolutely amassive undertaking. So yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah. Some guests andhe's a fellow New Yorker, so he
already knows what it's like. Sohopefully, you know, maybe we'll see
(12:01):
some more positive change changes in thefuture. But I'm hoping, I'm praying
that conjusting and pricing is not onthe table and will not be on the
table anytime soon. So that iseverything in a nutshell about contesting pricing again,
that is also my opinion. Theother political blowback was apparently the group,
(12:24):
a transit group you know who youknow supports the passengers basically told on
ex Governor Hopeful that she's giving intoTrump's whims. I don't agree with that.
I think that she and everybody elsehere in your basically is like shut
up, just shut up, youyou you're in your ferny now that's when
(12:50):
and uh, he just basically islooking out for his constituents and his building
and his pocket at the end ofthe day, because I'm sure he still
goes back and forth, you know, or his family members go back and
forth from Trump towers. So yeah, I'm like, no, he he
he's only looking for one He's onlylooking out for himself and to any type
(13:15):
of plase, publicity, publicity isgood publicity on his end. So I
highly recommend that you think before youtweet these outrageous accusations, because, let's
just be real, he doesn't careabout New York. He really doesn't.
(13:39):
If he did, he would whilehe was president, he would have done
so much better, you know, given us a lot more help. But
he didn't. He you know, basically talked bad about, you know,
the state that he lived in andworked in. So I really don't think
that any one of us and anypublic official is a fan of his,
(14:05):
unless they're a Republican, which inmy opinion, they are. Some of
them are forced. I have toagree. I have to believe that they
are forced, because you can't justgo from I can't stand him. I
don't think he did, you know, without saying that in a nice way,
of course, in a nice politepolitical way of saying, I can't
(14:28):
tell him. I think this guyis an idiot. I can do just
my prior phrasing and my thoughts andopinions. I know I'm reading into things,
but you know, and then tosupporting them and saying, oh,
we have to stand as a unitedfront. But I've done that a few
times, standing with a certain groupof people as a united front and thinking
(14:54):
God, I mean, do Ireally have to do this, and thinking
to myself, I need I needa shower after this. But yeah,
so you know, it is whatit is. I don't agree that she
is giving into Trump in anyway possible. I think that she is hopefully listening
to the people somewhat, and Ithink that she's also giving into her party,
(15:16):
which you know at this point itworks in a lot of people's favors.
So yeah, so that is everything. Again, Sorry about that.
I had this one more thought andI kinda I'm murmiling this is a little
bit. But anyway, guys,I'm gonna end this here. T you
guys, thank you so very muchfor listening. If you guys have any
comments of questions, please leave menumb below and thank you for listening as
(15:39):
always, and I will catch youon the next one. Bye for now.
