Speaker 3 (00:55):
Hey, good morning, San Antonio. Welcome to another sc expert
show where we bring you the top experts in the
field of legal, health, financial and home improvement. Oh, we
have some great shows for you this morning. In fact,
our first show when this expert doctor Julio men Is

(01:15):
signed up with us to do our Functional Medicine show.
We actually spoke for about forty five minutes and I
was mesmerized. He is one of the smartest men when
it comes to healthcare. And again there it's called Imagine
Wellness Center. And I got to tell you this doctor,

(01:39):
doctor Julio men is probably one of the smartest and
brightest doctors I've spoken to in a long time. I
could just sit back and listen to him talk. But
let me introduce him to you, doctor Jay. We call
him Good morning, Doctor Jay.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Good morning. How are you doing today, Steve? Do everything good.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
You'll remember our first talk about three months ago, and
I just really enjoyed listening to you talk. You have
some incredible ideas when it comes to health and I
got to tell you if you're ailing, and even not
only San Antonio, we see we get people writing is

(02:21):
from San Marcus and Austin. San Antonio is not that far,
especially to go to such an expert. Tell everybody about
Imagine Wellness Center.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
First of all, yes, thank you, Steve.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Well you know we've been practicing here in San Antonio
and Imagine will a center for about fifteen years or so.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Just practice completely functional medicine.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
And in that time we've really became a powerful functional
medicine clinic because we do focus a little bit differently
than most functional medicine clinics.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
We do focus in.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Root casts and I always like to talk about, you know,
being an expert of the root cause of dysfunction, and
that is the biggest issue today. Nobody wants to know
the root costs, right, And that's the big thing in medicine.
If you come in with a problem, Let's say, you know,
high blood pressure for example, you know, nobody tells you
why the high blood pressure is there. Nobody's going to

(03:19):
tell you how long you got to take the medication
for the high blood pressure.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
When is my body going to heal? Right?

Speaker 5 (03:24):
So, because nobody wants to know why, everybody just wants
to know how.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Can you bring that pressure down?

Speaker 5 (03:29):
Same thing with all the medicine, right, it is just
you know, just masking the problem, not really taking care
of the root of the issue. And this is the
reason why as we see our patients, we do our
best to create a process and we've created a program
that if you really want to regain your health and
reclaim that good life and longevity of health and just

(03:52):
enjoy life differently because of chronic disease. You know, make
sure to look us up and imagine one center dot com.
We have so much information that I know that we're
going to you know, our show is so short that
sometimes you know, we get to talking and sometimes we
don't get to explain a lot of things.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
But at the end of the day, though, I want
the public.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
To understand that if you're listening, then you have any
chronic disease, there is a reason why you have it,
and there's a reason why your bodies blocked to cure itself.
And I believe that the biggest thing here is that
you have an innate intelligence, right you have the god
given ability to balance your body. But if you cannot
balance it, that's when disease comes in and the balance comes.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
And we will talk to you a little bit about
this that we were talking about.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
And the balance comes because nobody wants to find out
the root of it, and your body is really all
the parts of everybody work together, you know for that balance.
So to me and my and my and my team
and you know, my health coaches and thousands of people
that we work with that have reclaimed their health from
variety and very very bad chronic diseases, from cancer, you know,

(04:56):
any auto I mean a hashmodos grave disease, you multiple sclerosis,
you got psoriasis. I mean, there's over one hundred different
diseases that you don't have medications.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
For to cure it. You just have a few treatments.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
Understanding that your body has the ability to heal itself.
Your body has the ability to kill that cancer. Your
body has the ability to decrease the inflammation that attacks
your your good sells in autoimmune. Your body has the
ability to restore and repair that gut. Your body has
the ability to do so much. But why is that
not happening? Why is it that maybe a stibo you

(05:32):
have allergies and I don't right why you know, we
breathe the same air, we're the same area.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Why is it the one person has it and the
other ones and does it?

Speaker 5 (05:41):
Is because all about how the body reacts to these
functions in the imbalances and what's blocking that body to heal.
And that's kind of we really kind of created a
process that we unlock that safe. You know, we got
to figure out what is the combination that is dysfunctioning
within your body that does not allow your own body

(06:02):
to recover and restore itself. And there are then we
created a process called the IW method, which is really
consist of UH and I mean, if you go on
my website, you will find a questionnaire where we can
really dictate what system is out of place. And there
are four systems that we spoke about. I want to
I want to tell the public this. The way I
do it is that I want to.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Find why you have the problem.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
So there are four systems that are interwined with each
other that we will find that problem is going to
be your digestive system, your indocerent system, you're neuroindocrine, and
what we call the circulatory imman complex meaning inflammation in
your blood.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Okay, all those.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
Four are connected, and there's so much chemicals out of balance.
And I know a lot of people in functional medicine
believe that medicine.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
You know that your foods are your medicine.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
I do agree with that, but a lot of people
out there today believe that just by exercising, eating healthy,
you're going to be healthy and everything is going to
go away. And we have so many patients that yes,
it works for them to exercise and eat healthy has
helped them. But a very high amount of people do
that and they're still sick. So why is that? That's

(07:11):
because our body needs more help than just the nutritional
perspective and the powerful foods.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Sometimes our own foods are problem, especially in autoimmu.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
So again, exercise and fitness is important, but not as
important as to me when I look at my patients
as let's say, the indocrine system, your glands, chemicals in
your body that nobody looks into, you know, so there
is a root cost to your Let's say, let's say
let's let's say depression for example. Okay, let me just
give you a domino effect of the systems. So let's

(07:40):
say that you're stressed out a lot this month. Okay, ms,
do you have a death in the family, you're getting
divorce or job whatever it might be, right, you have a.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Lot of stress. This stress creates a hormone called cortisol.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
When you have elevated cortosol, it's going to have a
lot of things in your body, all right, cordosol.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
How can that my depression?

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Well, let me say tell you how by high cortosol
is going to increase inflammation and disruption of your digestive system.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Okay, your digestive system, okay, it produces eighty percent of
a neurotransmitter in your brain called serotonin. Serotonin is your
happy neurotransmitter. Right, This is where you're dealing with depression. Right,
So therefore nobody wants to know the why. But I
just told you scan.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
That hormone cortosol have an effect all the way up
to your brain.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Yes, so you see they're interwined with each other.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
Your heart doesn't just work by itself, your liver doesn't
just work by itself.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Everything is connected.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
And if one system is out of place, you know,
then the whole thing you know. I don't know if
you read the Bible a little bit there stible, but
a lot of times so you know that we're all
part of the body, right, And I mean if you
cut your tiny little toe down there, you have to
learn how to walk all over again. So again everything
is balanced, everything is put together, same thing in our health.
And this is how we create a process of how

(09:01):
we can really educate our patients. Try to do as
not a cookie cutter, right, It is individualized process to
your specific needs to your specific imbalances to reclaim that
health have longivity. And again, the chronic disease that you
might be dealing with, this is where it's coming from.
It is coming from the systems. So therefore, when you

(09:23):
come into into our office, what we want to do
first is identify which system is out of place, and
let's work on it.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Once you start seeing how your systems starts working better.
You know.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
For example, let's stick with the indocrine system. Let's say
your thyroid is out of play. Hey, the thyroid is
what produces the energy to all of your cells.

Speaker 7 (09:43):
Right, So if you see somebody skinny out their stable
and you think, oh wow, that guy's a great food
metabolism or reality that person has awesome energy metabolism, meaning
that his body is burning more energy.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
In his cells or her cells.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
Then maybe the person that's overweight, right, But how can
we increase or what makes that metabolism of energy happen?
You're thyroid, okay, But there's a twist to it, okay,
And this is where a lot of doctors misdiagnose the thyroid.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
And there's a lot of things.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Why and why do I always talk about the thawers
because I can tell you ninety five percent of my
patients have a very sluggish thoroid, and most of the time,
once we balance that, everything.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
Starts working better in their body.

Speaker 5 (10:24):
Why because they create that energy that is needed for
that cell to function from that organ.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
But the twist that I'm telling you about is that.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
Your thyroid, okay, produces an inactive hormone and we talked
about this, you know, in the forty five minute talk
that we had before.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
And your thyroid produces a hormone called T four. That
T four is not what your body uses to create
energy if your body uses a T three.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
Okay, Now we get T three from T four, but
T four needs to be converted into T three. And
this is where interaction of systems happen that most doctors
are not looking into. Right, So therefore you're ut and
your liver converts T FOURD to T three. So let's
bring it back to the adrenal function. Okay, Now, high cortosol, right,
disruption to your digestive system.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
Can that affect your serotonin production? Yes?

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Right?

Speaker 5 (11:13):
Or can that also affect your thyroid where your thorod
is producing hormone but you're not activating it, you're still
going to be in the hyperthyroid symptoms.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Even if you're taking medications for thyroid and you have
you have no change in your symptoms.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
It means that maybe your gutting, your liver doesn't like
that that that synthro debothyroxin and medications and it's not activating,
and then you're not burning what you're activated T three
hormone that gives me my energy. You see how this
is interwined. So let's say that you're dealing with anything.
Let's say you're very tired. Why would you be very entired?
Why am I so sluggish all the time? Why am

(11:47):
I so sleepy?

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Right?

Speaker 5 (11:49):
Well, if you don't have enough T three hormone, right,
you are not going to be burning energy that gives
the energy to yourselves.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
Not only that, not burning energy, you're still eating.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
What are you doing If you're not burning what you're
eating through the energy metabolism, you're storing it.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
So now you are overweight. You have these big issues
on that.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
In women, you start seeing how their hair starts to
fall off more, you start seeing how they're emotional, Their
fingernails are weak, they become foggy, they can't think straight.
So again again, I'm just kind of telling telling you
and the public that you know, if you really want
to get healthy, we need to really think outside the box,
as we've been taught.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Since we were little. If you get hurt, right, what
do we do? My stomach urts? What do we do?
We got to a doctor, what does it do? He
gives it the pillows? We take it. Hey, I feel better.
So we're really like the monopoly. Let's say, in a
concept that we grew up with, we need to change it.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
We need to think differently of how our health care
is today, because if our health care worked, we wouldn't
have sick people.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
But our health care works because we do have sick people.
It's kind of like you know micros like you know
micro tough. You know what they do.

Speaker 5 (13:01):
They created it for the creating a system of computers.
But then they said, let's create a virus. Right, let's
throw that virus into the system. By wait a minute,
we have a anti virus. Let's help you do that.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
So what does that do?

Speaker 5 (13:14):
That's a money making machine, right, gates Your gates is
how you got, you know, that's how you got.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
Not just creating a product. You created it in.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Balance, and that's what that's what's happening in our healthcare
system today.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
It is so corrupt, it is so dysfunctional.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
I mean it is so it has such a big
monopoly because they're so big and people like little people
like us in functional medicine, we're.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
Really like we are. We are tied down. There's not
a lot of things that we can say. So for example,
let me give you an example here.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
If I do an advertisement in let's say, in you
in Facebook, Facebook does not allow me to use words
like disease, like let's say multiple scrosses or say, hey,
you got our you got multiple you know, multiple scores?

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Can we help you?

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (14:00):
I cannot say are you you know, overweight, you want
to lose weight?

Speaker 3 (14:04):
No?

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Are you fat? I can't say that? Are you fed?
Tired and sick?

Speaker 5 (14:07):
I can't say that. So I cannot use so many words.
I cannot use the word treatment.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
I cannot. It is they will tie you down in
a way that the public right, like this.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Podcast, we have the liberty to say what we want
to say exactly in in a in a setting up advertisment.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
If I, let's say, in the newspaper, for example, I
used to do some advertisement there. Well they flag me down.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
Hey, you cannot say treat you are you are expressing
yourself as you were a medical doctor and you're not,
so I cannot use it.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
It is a functional medicine.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
We are fighting against the current all day long, okay,
because there is a suppressing There is a fight against
us from day one. If you go back and studying
how medications and especially the oil or you know, petroleum
based medications, most of them are you know, back from
the Rockefeller time right until today.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
They still have control.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
So today the.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Elites, the big companies, you know, the big money, will
suppress us all day long because we cannot bring the
truth to the people. Right if I'm talking to people
about thyroid, okay, I cannot say, hey, you got hyper thyroid,
we can help you.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
I can't say that. I can say, hey we can uh.
I can I can't say, hey, Steve, are you overweight?
Fact you want to lose weight? Come and see me.
I can't say that. Okay, say I can treat you. Hey, listen,
you got you got grade disease where your tharody is hyperactive.
I can treat that. Come on in, we'll do it.

Speaker 5 (15:39):
Organically, I can't say that, I have to say a
completely different language, whereas that where I can use words
like help, assist, you know.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
And here we go.

Speaker 5 (15:49):
So again it is it is a is a tough
world to be in the functional medicine to bring different
perspective organically to the people. And this is the reason
why these pot shows are really important for the people
to listen and understand what's going on in their health.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
How can we help them?

Speaker 3 (16:04):
I want again, I got a two questions from Here's
the first one from Mary. She said, how do you
go about balancing the thyroid? And Ray wants to know
how do you deal with stress because that seems like
it's a big roadblock to what you do.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
Yes, all right, so let's begin with the thorroid. The
most important thing for me to thoroid is that we
need to we need to do the analyze it. We
need to do some blood work that's gonna tell us
how the thoroid works and what were the problem could be.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
Okay, so let me just give you a quick example
here to this. Uh, what what's her name?

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Mary?

Speaker 4 (16:41):
Mary? All right?

Speaker 5 (16:42):
Mary, So this is what's going on when you go
to your doctor to look at the thyroid. Every doctor
out there, the way they teach us is that we're
going to look at things called the TSH and T four.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
Hey.

Speaker 5 (16:50):
TSH is produced by the petuitary gland. T four is
produced by the thyroid.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
If those two are normal, then everything should be normal.
Which is not Okay. I want I want to explain
to you that when you come into my office, I'm
not just looking at the production of the thorough. Okay,
So T four is what your thoot produces. As we
say saying earlier, if the production is low, okay, the
solution to that is give you what a synthetic T four, correct,

(17:16):
that is.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
That's the thing.

Speaker 5 (17:18):
If you're dealing merry with thyroid, you're taking maybe synthroid
or maybe lebo thyroxine.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
That's what you're taking. Right.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
You might take compounded like you know armory and p
tharroy things like that. You know what I'm saying, But
this is completely synthetic T four. Why because your thorough
is not producing, right, nobody's wondering why your thought is producing.
They just say, let's just give you more because you
need more, okay, and then from there there's nothing to
talk about.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
That's all they can do for you on the thorough.

Speaker 5 (17:44):
You see, when I go about looking at your thyroid,
the very first thing I need to do is I
need to look at beyond Okay.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Number one, is your thorough not producing enough that T
four hormone.

Speaker 5 (17:54):
If it's not producing or if it's producing too much, Okay,
then why is there too much?

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (18:01):
Ninety percent of the time in women, the reason why
you thowered is not producing enough or is producing too
much is an autoimmune response for your defense mechanism.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Your body is so inflamed that it's.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Attacking your thorroed and is making it overproduced or underproduced.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
They'll call hashimotives or grave disease.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
Okay, But remember the reason why most medical doctors are
not going to look at this is because there's no
cure for hashi motis or great disease.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
They don't have a pill for that, so why would
they want to test that.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
See, to me, is not a pill that I'm selling
you is that I'm going to decrease the inflammation in
your body so your body no longer attacks your tharo.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
Right, So in production, where is the problem?

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Right?

Speaker 5 (18:41):
Because now you might have nodules. You might have cancer,
you might have you might not even have a thou
So we need to identify what that's coming from.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
About. That's just half the.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
Battle, right, the second. The second on the other side
of the coin here is that my power is producing
an inactive mormon. Right, So let's think about this. My
T four we call it gasoline, all right, And the
synthetic medication that you're taking is gasoline. But your engine
runs on diesel. Okay, so you cannot make your engine
run on T four. That's the gasoline. But we need

(19:11):
the gasoline because we can we can withdraw okay, the diesel.
It's called T three to give me energy for my engine.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Right.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
So therefore, if you don't have fuel for your engine,
if you don't have the diesel, I don't care how
much gasoline you have in your body. I don't care
how much T four your tower is producing, or how
much of that central libo rox and your doctor has
given you.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
If that is not converting to my T three, to my.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
Active which is my diesel that's gonna fuel my engine,
you're gonna have all the symptoms of the world of hyperthower.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
You're still gonna be sick. We need to convert it
and that's the conversion.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
So we how can we find that out? Just to
do the blood test, just as simple as the blood
test that you did to begin with. So when you
come in, we're gonna be doing a thorough okay, thyroid checkout.
And yes, do I have sub and says organic that
can increase your TEA four, your T three? Definitely, we
have everything organic to balance your thoroid.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
In fact, you have supplements.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
Yes, it's a supplementation.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
Okay, it's a glandulur that we use that comes directly
from to us from New Zealand, and it is.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Very very good.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
There's so much, there's so much supplementation for thorough it
out there. I'm a thorough patient myself, and this is
the reason why I'm so I'm so sure of what
I do with the thoroid is because you know, I
saw I took all the iodine, the seleniums and seeing
the diamines that's supposed to help my thoroid the functional menace.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
And teach us. But that didn't work out for me,
and it didn't work out for ninety five ninety eight
percent of my patients.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
So it works just for a few patients who are
deficiency in that area, right, So we need to identify
the root of what's going on. So if you're having
all these bad symptoms and you go to your doctrine,
the doctor says, your thorough looks great. That's because they're
just looking at production. If that production that gasoline, they're
looking at the gas. But if the gas is not
making it into my diesel, my refinery, my gut, in

(20:59):
my livers, I'm making it into my diesel, then I'm
going to have all the symptoms that I begin with.
And if that medication is not converting the same way.
So again, this is how I would look at you
as a as a patient when you come into my
office with THOROUGHD issues, even if you're taking medication, even
if you don't have a thoroid, even if you're higher low,
the first concept is why are you higher low?

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Secondly, is your own body converting it? And how much
of the good fuel do you have? Right?

Speaker 5 (21:27):
And it is your problem out of immune because now
it's different treatment, right, it's different treatment.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
So again that is the thorough. That's how we will
look at the thorough.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
And I can guarantee you that ninety I said ninety
five to ninety eight percent of my client when they
come into my office in chronic disease, they are having
a very low production of thoroid, which is barely on
the normal level, which your doctor says, you're okay, right,
because you just as long as you're in the range,
you're going to be fine. But that doesn't work that
way in thoroid. Hey, if you really low to me,

(21:55):
I look like my tank of gasoline. If you have
a quarter of a tank of guess they're not going
to go. So your body is gonna go very slow
everywhere because it's trying to do what try trying to
squeeze that fuel for the whole day. So I need
that three quarters out of the time. We need it
on the higher end, which is called the optimal levels.
And these functional levels, not clinical levels. So we are

(22:15):
looking at you in a different range, in a different
clinical range. So uh, and that's also very important. Okay,
we're looking at you differently now.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
As you talked about the other question was how do
you balance your stress? Right? What do we need to
do for that?

Speaker 5 (22:31):
Okay, So when I'm looking at stress, the first thing
that I do with my clients when they come in
and doctor j I am stressed out of my mind.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
I'm having I'm going through a lot.

Speaker 5 (22:39):
The first thing that I do is that let's look
at cortosol, because there's a difference between stress and pressure.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
Okay, Steve, we all have pressures.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
In life, and we're gonna till the last day we're here,
We're gonna have pressures, right, I mean from you today. Now,
I'm just kidding from you because you all do you
have to look at the riots and get upset.

Speaker 8 (22:59):
Up right, yeah, and look at those cleaning all that junk,
and you see like, how could this be happening in
this beautiful country of Mars that is supposed to be
the leading and here we are.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
We got all this corruption, all this craziness.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
Right, So for example, that could really bring up our pressure, right,
and then they say, man, why could that happen? But
if that pressure starts increasing your cortisol, that is a
chemical from the adrenal glands a little grand above your kidneys.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Now is becoming stressed. Now you are.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
Increasing cortisol and your body is put into a flight
a fight flight response, meaning that your body thinks somebody's
trying to kill it, and it's going to increase.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
A lot of physiological metabolisms in your body. Okay, by
increasing high blood pressure, cartbeat over. You know, you need energy.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
So again, I want to test that cord of sool
first because I want to make sure that, yes, you're
going through a lot.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
But is that pressure making you stress?

Speaker 5 (23:58):
And if that stress is coming from you you, then
we need to identify it, Okay, and identify it and
test it to make sure that if it's elevated, and
also what time is it elevated. Is it more in
the morning mee day or leaving or even at night,
and the other symptoms like I can't fall asleep, I
can't stay asleep. Right, A lot of those things are
going to be in the process of that of of

(24:20):
how we look at the beginning of stress, and then
we can give you a lot of techniques of how
to you know, restore your mind, of how to calm
yourself down.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
I mean, we can really talk about the you know,
more of a common your brain now. Okay, not only that.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
