Speaker 3 (00:55):
Hey, good morning, San Antonio. Welcome to another expert show. Well,
we bring you the top experts in the field of legal, health,
financial and home improvement. I know our great producer probably
gets tired of me saying this, but this is our
fifteenth year of Asked the experts. It's one of the
(01:15):
longest running talk shows in the United States and we
have I have done my due diligence on literally thousands
of experts in different cities, in different areas, and I
got to tell you our show this morning is such
an important show. And I spent about twenty minutes talking
(01:40):
to doctor Julio Jamenez. He's with the Imagined Wellness Center,
and I got to tell you I knew that we
had the best the krem de la Creme, but doctor
Jiman is because we really do read all your emails
and you have and asking us to do a functional
(02:02):
medicine show in San Antonio, which we do in about
eight other markets, and most of them have been with
us for at least two years. And we hope doctor
and this will also be with Bonker and let me
introduce you. We're gonna call him doctor j. Good morning,
Doctor j.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Good morning, Stevel. How are you today?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
We're doing wonderfully. You know you and I had that
talk and I knew you were the one after our
conversation because it's so important on who's representing the ask
the expert show, and I am such a fan of
functional medicine. Doctor j I have learned more about functional medicine.
(02:46):
But what's so great about a show like this is
a lot of people don't know about functional medicine. But first,
before we get started, tell everybody about Imagine Wellness Center.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
Sure, you know, functional medicine is really, you know, the
best to me, the best organic way of healing and
repairing your body.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
And here we've been here.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
In San Antonio and for a while now, for about
fifteen years, and really you know, helping the community community
just you know, reclaim their health. Okay, So for the
last fifty years we've been working with chronic disease, and
I feel like a lot of people out there don't
realize that there's other avenues of helping you. We believe
(03:29):
that it's just, you know, when you go to your doctor,
they give you a name of a disease and they
give you medication or a protocol, and that's kind of
what we used to We go to get a pill
to get better. And I feel that a lot of
times most people that come into our office are looking
for another avenue because what they're doing is really not
working and they feel like there's something else out there
that could help them. So this is The reason why
(03:52):
functional medicine is so important, it's really picked up so
much attendance per se, is that they're realizing that the
and in the way I look at it anyways, is
that you know, our bodies hasn't God given ability to
heal and through functional medicine is the way that I've
I work with my clients is we want to look
at root cause of imbalance. In other words, we're not
(04:15):
looking for symptoms, right, The symptoms just directs us of
what system is out of place. So in the last
twenty years of my practice, I've developed a method called
the IW method that really has helped thousands of people
really recover the health from a variety of different chronic diseases.
But at the end of the day, if you are
dealing and again, you don't have to just be sick
(04:35):
to do functional medicine. As a matter of fact, we
have a lot of patients who just want to prevent
problems in their health. But most of us, and you
know this Deble, that we have the tendency to think
that functional medicine is about just foods and you know,
diets and exercise and supplements envitnment, right, And that's what
everybody kind of looks at as a functional medicine, and
(04:57):
you would think, you know how much how much vitamins
can I take to feel better? Well, you know what
you need to understand that our body is really complex
and it doesn't work in individual parts as we see
being treated by.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
So if you have a heart problem, you go.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
To your cardiologists, right, you have a kidney problem, you
go to nephrologists, right, and you get all these divisions
of the body, thinking that those organs work by themselves.
But in reality, our body is a whole, right, and
if there's something out of balance, it loses healing pathway,
it loses the ability to that God given ability to heal.
So to me, when I'm looking at a client, is
(05:34):
that in functional medicine? Is that if you are doing
if you are sick and what you're doing is not
you're not getting better, or you just don't know what
to do. Or you've done diets, you've done a lot
of supplements, you've done a lot of vitamins, but yet
nothing really has the results. That's because you are just
guessing at this game of guessing on your symptoms.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
Right. I don't know if you realize that. You know,
if you're having problems with your gut, you know, you
just go get something. Oh maybe this will help.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
If you have autoimmune, well, you know what, my cousin
took this, and and you could take that, because there's
no pills to cure autoimmune. If you're overweight, you know, hey,
let's exercise and let's eat healthy. Well, in reality, there's
more than that in our bodies. And you know, if
you're listening today and understanding that, what.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Can you do?
Speaker 5 (06:19):
If you're looking for a new organic pathway of restoring
and healing your body, you have to go to a
person that understands the root or the cause of what's
going on. So that's the reason why we get such
great clients and we get great results is because where
identifying the good cause by identifying systems.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
Out of place. Okay, I don't know if that makes
sense to you, but there are so does.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
And you know what, doctor J I thought about you
the other day. I take a multi vitamin. So I
went into I think it's GNC, and a lady walked
in and said, I need to lose weight. The guy said, here,
let me go get you a pill. I got to
tell you, I thought about you, doctor J. Because first
of all, everybody's body is different exactly, and there's more,
(07:07):
there's so much more to it that here's a pill
right exactly.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
And that's and that's exactly what we talk about. So
let me you know in our in our concept is
that in my concept that I've looked at my patients
that has really given me great results is that there
are four health systems in this IW method in which
I created, So our clients who are listening today, you
can go to Imagine Wellness Imagine Wellness center dot com
(07:31):
and you can look at information and we have a
health assessment test. In this health assessment, what we do
here is that we are going to identify which system
is out of place that could be blocking your healing process.
So you know your body having the ability to heal.
Somewhere along the way, you really disrupted the heating patterns.
But where is it? Where is it that I disrupted?
(07:54):
So if I'm having depression, right, where is my dysfunction?
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Where did it come from?
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Well, we need to identify the systems right because depression,
we need to identify which neurotransmitter is for So there's
specific testing and lads it's not just about your symptoms.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
It is really using science to identify what is going
on with you.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
So if you're dealing with depression, we need to identify
where depression is coming from. And that's when we do
certain you know, testing in the neurotransmitters or the chemicals
in your brain that provides these certain emotions. But with
saying that your body is connected, right, let me give
you an example. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is what
is our mood, our happiness. Right, if you don't have serotonin,
(08:38):
you're going to be depressed because there's no sense in life.
You have no test, you have no no, no leftern right.
So therefore eighty percent of that serotonin is producing your
gi So there if the connection within the gut, your
and your depression is huge, but most people don't know that.
Right now, if you're having problems with your gut and
(09:01):
before you know you start getting depressed. Now you're thinking,
I'm going to go to my daughter because I'm depressed.
Now you want you want some you know, depression medication, right,
and not only are you know you're taking depression medications forever.
So in a sense I'm understanding you know, if you're
dealing with digestive imbalances.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
And I'm not.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Saying that the gut is the only thing that relates
and correlates to everything. It does affect everything, but there's
other areas that affects the gut.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
So if you're dealing with gut issues, right, which we all,
you know, it's a lot of people having the other girl.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
The acid reflects the ib as, all these chronic diseases.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
You know, what is the solution for you, doctor Jay?
Speaker 5 (09:36):
I'm taking nexium, right, I'm taking toms to come down
my gut.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
If I get a.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
Taco I blow up and I'm hurting, and you know,
or it gives me diarrhea. I read a little bit
of milk and then you go to a professional and
any nutritions or whoever, and right away they're going to say,
all right, let's get rid of the milk. Let's get
rid of the most common foods that could be irritating. Right,
So instead of just guessing a what the most common
foods are already telling you, we can find out which
(10:02):
ones they are right. So again using science and understanding
that you know, other these functions could be coming from that,
we need to identify it. It's not just a specific
diet in general for everybody. There's got to be a
specific individual process for your needs, not in a you know,
in a sense that one fits all.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
We have to identify what's going on with you. Not
only that. If you're dealing with let's.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Say your digestive system and you're having ulcers, you haveing
pleptic ulcers for example, Hi, it'le harni its what.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Is that going on with me?
Speaker 5 (10:33):
Doctor J Why do I have that? I take medications,
I calm it down, but it never goes away. Right,
I'm always have to take the medication because that's my treatment.
And we have the sense of thinking that that's forever
our treatment. When is my body going to recover? See nobody.
If you're dealing with this problem out there, you need
to understand that that there's.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
A root to your problem.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
There's any imbalance to the system, and you have lost
the ability for your body recover itself.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
That the inmate intelligence of your body is no longer
what keeping you healthy because you disrupted something.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
So let's say that you have great like we talked
about a few days, a few weeks.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Less, we actually have about stress. Right if you have
high stress? Can that destroy the line up? You got?
Speaker 5 (11:17):
Yes, So now we're looking at different areas in system
this function that could actually provide the healing of your
own body. But sometimes it's not where you're feeling your symptom.
And again I'm just giving you a little bit of examples.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
About our w methods.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
So within these systems, it is important for us if
you're having problems with your health. Right, like I said,
go to imagine one center dot com. Now we can
start looking at which system is out of place, and
we're going to have a few questions there for you.
It's totally free, build it out and then it's going
to give you answers, and then you make a decision
to give us a call or you know, we can
(11:53):
provide help. You know, you can schedule an appointment. You
can do anything to want. As a matter of fact,
all right, if if you say you know I've I've
heard you do today talking to Stebo and Life, you know,
talk for TV, I will even give you this kind
of price on my consultation. So I mean I'm giving
you help here. If I don't want money to be
(12:14):
the reason why you don't come find out what other,
what can you do differently? So you know, I know
that are you can ask for a a this kind
of price? Who will give you this kind of price
on our consultations.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
There's a lot of people who deal with accid reflux
and you brought it up and they take the little
purple pill. So are you saying that a lot of
those people can be treated through their diet?
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (12:43):
So yes, So what I'm saying is that a lot
of these people is not necessarily a diet like let's say,
you know, we're going to do a Kido diet, you know,
or we're going to do ad Can's diet, or we're
going to do a you know, intermittent or we're going
to do you know, all the great you know, famous
diets out there to that has worked for some people,
but it doesn't work for a lot of the people.
Now that is a general diet, you know, one fit
(13:05):
all right. When we're looking at our clients, not only
are we looking at diet, but there are other areas
that are affecting you. But in the essence of nutrient intake,
we want to know which nutrient it could be.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
The reason why it is affecting your asset briefline.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
Okay, so there are certain ways that your own body
creates a defense mechanism that attacks your own foods, creating inflammation. Remember,
and inflammation is the first step to all disease. For
most of the disease, this is going to be what inflammation,
inflammation is pain. So therefore, if you are eating certain
foods that your own body is attacking creating inflammation that's
(13:44):
giving you your irritation, that's creating acidity in your gut,
then yes, we need to identify that specifically for you
because you're you know, you're your significant other next to
you doesn't have the same thing. So this is the
reason why when we talk about individualized treatments and individualized
concepts is we need to really identify within your foods.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
But now I'm not saying that your foods is your
own problem. Right. It could be a chemical imbalance, right.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
That's part of our healing, that's part of our body,
that's the structure, that's the fundation of who we are.
It's not just about nutrients. There's also tons of chemical imbalances, right.
That affects your emotions, that affects how you feel. So again,
reclaiming your health. You have to have a mentality of
change also, right, I want you to know that when
(14:32):
you're talking into my office, I want you to come.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
And pre educated. This is pre education that we're talking
about right now.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
Right in fact, in my website, I do have videos
of education and you can find what you're dealing with
and you get pre educated before you come into my office.
Because I want you to understand that you need to
come with a mentality that this is what's going to
heal your body.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
But you have to be an active patient, not a
passive patient.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
And I see that's a big problem to stable with
a lot of peop people that think that just you
know what very passive, for example, is a patient he goes, well,
I'm just going to take the purple pill because you know,
I don't want to work that hard, you know, and
I just want to I want to eat whatever I want,
and you know, whatever comes comes, and you just create
more issues, more these functions throughout. But then you have
that active patient that is doing everything possible, great diets, exercise,
(15:21):
taking all the medications, all the supplements, but yet you're
not feeling better. Why right, That's kind of what we
do in our office is that we even go beyond
that because now we know that you have a huge
chemical imbalance and we have to identify that chemical imbalance
and we have the substances to provide for you. So
that's that that that that imbalance you know, balances and
(15:42):
now your body starts healing itself because we're taking away
that imbalance and reclaiming that health. And I'll tell you
what's people that you know, we have helped thousands of
people with throughout Ittween chronic diseases, and we love the
way we look at it.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
It's not just about your health. It's not just reclaiming
your health. You're reclaiming every everything else.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
You're reclaiming your hobbies, right, You're reclaiming your family, You're
reclaiming your purpose.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
You know a lot of people live life with a purpose,
but you.
Speaker 5 (16:09):
Can you know, I'm a godly man, I love Christ
and if I am not healthy, I'm never going to
achieve my purpose. So you have to have a god
getting purpose. Why am I on this earth? And if
you don't have it, then look for it. But if
you have it and you are unhealthy, sometimes you can
fulfill those purposes.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
And you know that's what I mean when we're talking
about oh.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
In health, we're not just talking about you doing better
in your symptoms. Is if once those symptoms go away,
you are reclaiming so much of your life right now.
You feel better, you look better, you create you know,
the self esteem. You are facing life in a different
light and a different perspective. And that to me is
important with my clients because now we know that we're
(16:50):
making a difference in people's lives.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
And that's my calling for sure.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Rob and San Marcus just wrote, I am so glad
there's finally a show on this subject. It is such
an important subject. Doctor j. How do you treat preventive medicine?
I want to make sure that I am healthy, even
though I know nothing is wrong with me, I want
(17:15):
to make sure I catch it. Now. That's a good question.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Yes, So the first thing that we do, like I said,
is that we want to understand your health and systems.
There are certain systems in your body that create healing
or create disease. If those systems are disrupted, then you
create disease. So if you are doing good and sometimes listen,
we could be sick right and we don't even feel it.
(17:41):
I know, I had a patient that came in and
he was telling me, Doctor J I went to my cardiologists.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
He told me I had a heart of a twenty
year old. And this guy used to run marathons. And
he goes and the next day I had a.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Heart attack, and he goes, Wow, what.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
Happened to me? Well, you know, sometimes we don't feel
function inside of us. You know, sometimes it just shows up. Right, Well,
I had a stroke, right, I wasn't doing great. I
just had something.
Speaker 6 (18:07):
Right, I have those policies, you know, and what happened
with that, it just showed up. So again with my patients,
what I do in the question to answer is that
first we have to do.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
A little bit of an exam. I identify this a
question in that imagine one of things dot com. I
keep saying that because if you know the listeners are listening,
go in there and as much as you feel good
you fill that out.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
It'll dictate a little bit about what where you were
we looking at.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
So my suggestion would be is that we create a
process of healing and restoring the systems. Your digestive system,
your indocrine system, your neuroindocrine system. And I think I
call the circulating immune complex, meaning inflammation in your blood.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
How are we going to restore that? Heal that?
Speaker 5 (18:52):
So by getting rid of a lot of the information
within your blood, especially from your foods, and identifying those
foods and they're going to be specifically for you. We
need to identify that and clean that up. To decrease inflormmation.
Even though you're feeling better, you're still creating inflammation. We
want you to do even better. Okay, We want to
make sure that we look at the neurotransmitters, understanding the
chemical in your brains. It controls emotions, muscle movement, and
(19:14):
not only that a lot of functions within your body.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
Thirdly, we want to look at the indocrine system.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
Right, we want to identify your glands, your chemicals in
your body to be right, thoroughed, adrenals, sex, hormones, what's
going on with those areas because sometimes we don't feel
as much as those are decreasing, right, So, especially in men, right,
we get it that you know, in our forties and
we start seeing that we don't create the muscle that
we used to. We're not as aggressive as you used to.
Now my hormones are going down. What they don't know
(19:40):
about it, right, so we need to identify that even
though they feel okay, but then you start seeing that,
you know, the muscle decrease, the bond density decrease, emotional
a little bit differently. So again those are the things.
And then digestive we have to restore it. We have
an awesome way of a We even do a twenty
eight day restoration day to that digestice system because we
(20:01):
do know how important that is. So if you're just
saying as a wellness I want to know and I
want to I want to show you of how your
fundamentals or your foundation of your body is. And that's
what I would provide for these clients who are just saying,
you know what, I want to get ahead of the game.
You know what can I do for you. I have
(20:21):
this active attitude of my health. I've been exercising and
eating great. But at the same time, you know, I'm
not losing the weight that I used to, I don't
feel the way that I used to, I don't have
the muscle that I used to. So again this is
kind of my advice per se, here's stibo of how
to get that done. But I mean there is a process,
and you have to understand that there's going to be
(20:41):
a change in your life, especially to reclaim that health.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
You know, yes, you know. We only have a few
more minutes left and I want to get you had
talked about how doctors misdiagnosed a thyroid. Can you elaborate
on that for us?
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Yes? All right, So for your listeners to understand a
lot of the times.
Speaker 5 (21:03):
When you go to a to a to a doctor
because let's say, symptoms like losing your hair, thinning hair,
losing your eyebrows, overweight, all those symptoms that sometimes you
don't know where they're coming from. And you go to
your doctor and they say, well, let's check your thorough
and then they look at the thorough at your normal
but then you know you still have.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
The same symptoms. Or even if you go to your doctor.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
If your thoroughist is off and they give you medication,
they still have the symptoms.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
You still feel the same, but your thorough is normal.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
Now you know the misdiagnos comes from because our bodies
or are The way they teach us in medicine is
to identify the production of the thorough.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Okay, so just talking chemically thorough produces a hormone called
TEA four.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
All right, that tapour hormone, it needs to be converted
into another hormone called T three. And the thorough is
so important. This TA four hormone is so important because
it creates energy, right energy to all of yourselves. And
if you don't have this hormone, you're not going to
create the energy. And if you don't burn energy, for example,
and you're overweight, then you're not losing the weight because
(22:03):
you're storing it.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Because you're not metabolizing your energy. You could be metabolizing
your food.
Speaker 5 (22:08):
And a lot of people think just because you're skinny,
you've got great food metabolism, but in reality is going
to be what energy metabolism mostly coming from the tower.
But to answer your question, how do how do how
do doctors misdiagnose this? Well, to me is that every
doctor will check a thing called tsh and T four.
And I'm going to go a little fast for you
because right out of time, the T four, ok is,
(22:29):
I'm going to talk about production. T four is gasoline.
We speak about that a little bit of understanding that
right T four is gasoline. T four is That's what
every doctor checks every time you go there. But your
engine runs on diesel. So therefore that means that T
four is inactive. It needs to be activated. I need
that T four. I need that gasoline to convert it
into my diesel. So therefore, every time you go to
(22:51):
your doctor, they're checking your gastine. But that's not what's
making your engine run. You do have you do need that,
but now we look at conversion. Right the refined to
make it into my diesel goes into your gut and
your liver. So if you have any issues gut and liver,
and now you no longer you're not converting my gas
sling into my diesel. Well, when you go check, your
(23:12):
doctor says, hey, the medications I'm giving you is you
got great gasoline.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
It's normal you're producing rite.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
But they're not looking at the activated hormone that really
is the one that we need.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
And I see that consistent of this function right now.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
Like I always talk about and women, especially, ninety percent
of the time that disruption to your thorough and if
you're a thorough patient out there and you're having taken
medications and you can't find the balance, I do have
organic acceptances to provide for you, but most importantly remember
root costs.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
Where is it coming from. Well, you can have great.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
Thyroid and overweight, entirely sluggish, but your gut and liver
you're having a lot of problems.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Well, you know what conversion is, what your problem is.
So we need to clean and prepare what gout and liver? Why,

your body.
