the host of Author's Corner, the Emmy Award winning Kate Delaney.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Hi, I'm Kate Delaney and I am as always very
thrilled to spend time with Esther and Mordecai Fince and
they do the matchy matchy thing and it's given me
so many ideas. And look at these shirts that they
have on now soulmates married since August nineteen sixty four,
never ending love story. Oh that's so beautiful. Thank you.
(00:49):
It is I love that you do that. Does it
make you feel good when you wear the T shirts?
Speaker 3 (00:53):
We enjoy very much. Yeah, I'm watching our outfits and everything, Chalice.
Sometimes we do, but.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
By ordering these or this is easily, you know. The
challenging part comes when when she wears a dress and
is a flowery one, so then I have to manage it.
But it was still able to accomplish, you know, when
we go to synagogue. Used to be a lady in
(01:24):
my Rest in Peace, and she was the one that
actually came up with that matchie machi concept, said, there
is our matchie machic cop hole.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
I love it. It's I mean, it just shows again
because you've been together for sixty two years, married for
sixty one. We always say that because I think it's
so important. And your next book that we're going to
talk about, you've written seven books. A marriage Made in Heaven. Yes,
so a marriage made in Heaven. We were talking about
this off here. It's very novely. It's your story, but
(01:58):
it's so interesting because of the way you've written it.
I think, how'd you come up with that idea that
let's let's put it this way instead of here's our story.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Right, the book is everything that's a novel. It's a
true story of our life, but with a little novel
and a little fiction. Think of I think of yeah,
because we start like from heaven, like when we were
angels or souls up there and we were trying to
get together with all our family, you know, So that's
(02:30):
part of the fiction part, but is a reality because
we all come.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
From exactly and you talk about the soul alive, talk
about like here on your shirts, even soul maids. So
you start there and then your stories. You're both from
the same country, from Cuba, but different stories, and you
talk about that in the book, and I think it's
really powerful. What what was your story, Mordecai? How did
(02:56):
you end up from Cuba then Israel all than the US.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Well, and we talk about the book. We talked that
God had everything predestined for each one of our lives. Okay,
it's not only us, and whatever they happened that sometimes
we may think that it's for the worst, is actually
part of the predestined of God putting together. So when
(03:24):
Castro came and took over the Cuba, all right, So
then they took over all the businesses that my father had.
So he says, I have nothing to look forward over here.
I think that we should move to Israel. And so
(03:44):
he went to inquire with the synagogue there and they say,
as a matter of fact, next week there is an
ambassador from Israel coming up that they are negotiating with
Castro with program let my people go. And it says,
(04:05):
count me in and the six of us, and I
have four young children. The youngest one is fourteen and
the other one is twenty two. So they love it.
You know, they wanted to bring in young people to
Israels it was nineteen sixty okay, so Israel was only
(04:31):
twelve years old.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Okay, right, think about that.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Yeah, that's so, that's the way that it goes. You know.
Castro negotiated with them that they say, well, I'll let
everyone go, but you have to pay me a certain
amount of money for each person that leave. Okay. So
(04:57):
they did that and we went to a kivots, and
from a kivoots we went to a residence and then
our family that was living in New York was working
to be able to get us to the United States,
(05:17):
and they did that and they finally came the day
that we had the appointment with the embassy and they said,
here is Jabiza, you're ready to go. And we came
to the United States. But in the meanwhile, in the
other part, then estrich family, the father and the mother
(05:39):
we were working with also with this yagog but they say,
the only availability we have is to go through Jamaica.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
We did so this agency called Highest took us to
Jamaica only with two or three pieces of clothe They
won't let you yet out of anything. As a matter
of at my sister had a little doll, and you know,
they were checking for everything. People were taking jewelry, they destroyed.
(06:09):
My sister cried so much because you know, her favorite doll.
So we went to Jamake and I stayed three months
over there. I don't til all the paperwork was ready.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
We came.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
They sent us to Miami. It's what they stopped with.
My father had a family. All his brothers were in
New York too, and my mother's one or two brothers.
They had just come in and we went directed to
the Freedom Talker which now is talking a lot in
Florida that they just remodeled and did a beautiful place there.
(06:45):
And over there they gave us coats on some clothing
because we were going to New York.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
It was cold.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
We didn't have anything, and it was a big adventure,
big ad benure, and we went to New York. We
stayed with the family a few days until they also
help past fine an apartment and that's the story.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I live in the Bronx in Brooklyn, but one of
my my aunt living in Brooklyn next to him.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Wow, that was good fortune. Oh and as you say predestined,
you believe it right? Yeah, So what do you remember
the first time you saw esther? What was that like?
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Well, it happened that two weeks before Marian Raquel that
she was a visionary, like a messenger from God. She
said to me or the high Okay, I just received
a message to give to you. I said, what is it?
He says, in the next two weeks, maybe three weeks,
you're going to meet your soul man, I said, tea,
(07:46):
and how am I going to be able to to
find out? Oh she is? He said, Well, you will
be overwhelmed by her beauty, her hair, but when you
look at her eyes, you will the reflection of her soul.
That you know each other from way past. I said, wow,
(08:08):
And it happened that the way you.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Know was I went to visit he end and we
were walking with out other ends with the baby, and
he was coming with his.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Brother down the streets.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
Yeah, we were going to take the close to the laundry,
which it was in the corner, and we saw this
beautiful girl coming up with the two ladies which I
then I recognized Sarita her end and right.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Away, he introduced himself.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
It was fun, yes, and then that was it. You
knew you live?
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Why didn't you know right away? I jump right away,
I jump into you know, because I look at her
eyes and I see the reflection you love that God
was pouring. And I says, you know what he said, tonight, Yeah,
it was tonight. We have a body celebrating my sister's birthday.
(09:14):
And I w like very much for you to join us, okay,
And she said she was no, no, but and Sarita says,
of course, as that you should go on me.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
It wasn't nice.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
I didn't work, it didn't.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Bring and it didn't work out good. Wow, Well, I mean,
what a story. And you talk about that and so
many other things in the book. Tell me more about
the book. Tell me more about what people can expect.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Well, the people can expect this the way that we
look like, and how God present to us that it
was the creation you know, these soul, the spirit and
the body, and how if if you let yourself be
guided by that energy of God.
Speaker 6 (10:09):
Okay, things will work out always to the best, even
in the midst of the trials and tribulations, because we
go through all that every day and all the time,
you know.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
And everything is a lot of challenges.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
Yes, and we go through a step by step like
like a biography, but with the twist, like Esther was saying,
you know, part of the novel to be able to
relate of how then once we get together, how our
(10:47):
son's spirit was begging God to be able then to
come in and er con and the baby boy that
that we're going to have and bothering. God finally says, okay,
now you're ready to go. A year later, when she
(11:08):
gave birth to our son and then our grand our
daughter in law, Okay, how she how she relates to that.
She was gonna it's a good story.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
You know, it's a good novel to read it with
the real biography, right, it's a real life, but with
a little twist.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
All right, Right, and so you're so your daughter in law.
Then then she is birth.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Then she gave, she gave, she gave, she came to
be born like a year before. Easy. Okay, she's a
little one year older or two years older. And then
when the other angels appear, which is our granddaughters, okay,
(12:01):
and and they're trying to see how they can influence
God to poor so that they meet and they get
married because they want to be in our family together
and they finally come to life, you know. And then
her sister's story.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Was it fun to write it.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
It was challenging because we had to really remember way back.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
They were challenging what happened here? What happened? How was it?
Speaker 4 (12:36):
That's the one that took the longest of it, you know,
And like we say in our I think that successful
happy marriage, but it's that we are that we're going
to continue okay because at the end, we says, and
we still have many more years.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
To go, right, So to be a part too.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
But it has a lot of good material that people
can learn from it in the examples that we give
on what we went through our lives and how we
confronted all of the challenges and everything the business.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
I think you sprinkle that in your books, but in
this book you really tell. That's why it took you
a while to write it, because you really thought of
some of those details. So people can see what you
went through from the very beginning.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
How you met.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
And your son and then all of that, and you
take us through that journey. So you've you're right your
description is really good. It's like you're involved in it.
There's like sprinkled with some something extra magic. I think
in that too, that's a good Yeah. Yeah, the angels
appear and I love that. Do angels appear a bunch?
(14:03):
For you? You love the angels? You think about angels,
right that. I mean, that's part of what we talk about.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Well, you are you are one of what.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I like that. And see here's something you didn't know.
My middle name is Shana and it's Gaelic and it
means angel in translation. Yeah, so the old Irish. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
So when I'm saying that God has said, jus a
angel to be able then to show those books and
to bring them live to those people that are interested
to know more about it.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Right right, I think of it as you know we
we talked about and you you are a star manual.
I think here there's more. There's like the added flavor,
not that that doesn't have any, but this also has
that added flavor because it's very much you know, your
your history. So I mean, this is a hard question.
(14:55):
But because every day for the two of you, it
seems like you're in Disneyland, I get that feeling. I
mean you're so happy, But what was the what was
the give us one of the great memories, give us
one of your happiest memories. Se Yeah, I told you
it's hard.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Well, so many, so many, because you know, it's like
every day is a new blessing and we praise God
for everything like that. You know, like what we say
that that every sun rise that we're here, you know,
God's blessing and always neared us how we created that
(15:35):
sun because we have so many examples of how God
works in our life that well, you know, every cruise
that we take is a blessing. And we had to
over a hundred of.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Those, over a hundred cruises. Yeah, that's the fifth Sea
from But do you remember the first cruise you ever took?
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Yes, the first cruise was a three day cruise and
we got hook up into it.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
They were not as they are fabulous now, but they
still was very good, right because you couldn't or something.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
I don't know right years ago.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
I know that it was an NCL cruise. Yes, that
was another one.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah, and you've advised that that it's a good thing
to do to take a cruise. Is that because we
can you know, now we have Ai and everything moving
so fast in our life, different pieces of technology that
when you go to restaurants or even if you're outside
the synagogue, maybe even in the synagogue, people are on
their phones constantly, constantly, I'm driving on their phones and
(16:50):
just being pulled in different directions. So I think you
get that in a marriage made in heaven, there was space.
Even though you're running a factory at one point, then
you're running another factory another point. Structure exactly construction. All
the things you did with, you dealt with, you still
made the time.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Or what I learned from an early age is that
the most important thing is number one. Is first to
make God your number one, but the second one you
entered into a relationship. Okay, the man has to make
his wife the number one. You cannot just be charitable
(17:28):
and be good and be exposed with everybody around the world, okay,
and everybody says, oh, look, how nice is your husband.
Oh okay, he's so charitable. He helped me on it.
But when it came to home, when he comes home,
he doesn't perform the duty that God give us to do,
(17:50):
which is actually that we are responsible to make our
wife number one to please her to help her, to
lift her, to help her, to.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Say, as the wife with the husband.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Vs. Vice versable, the important responsibility come from the husband, right.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Right, And and that's clear. I think that's a thread
through really all the three books that we've talked about
so far, and certainly Marriage Made in Heaven. You absolutely
get that feeling. So and you're saying it, but what
do you hope the takeaway is for anybody who reads
the book?
Speaker 4 (18:32):
So the takeaway is that they can look at our
biography or an examples made into a novel and they
can relate to where they are and they can put
her into practice with developing that confidence in the energy,
(18:53):
the pure energy of God, that they can overcome anything
and everything and that everything is working to their best.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Yeah, it's perfect place to end this. So good A
