Speaker 1 (00:00):
Get your Vikings updates with just an extrom on purple
Positivity on peer Belly Sports Radio Network, brought to you
buy it up at the Avenue Pizza before pizza became trendy.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, I am just an extroim.
This is purple positivity. How positive can we possibly be?
(00:22):
I know we'd be a lot more positive if I
had Seventh Avenue Pizza inside of me right now, but
I do not. It is a little chilly tonight. I
would love to have myself special or even their breakfast,
their seven am. It's rapidly becoming one of my favorites
that they make. Anyway, thanks to them for sponsoring this
fine show. And let's get to it, shall we. Vikings
(00:43):
lose the Eagles. They make it somewhat close. Man, I
was way off with my prediction of twenty seven and
twenty the Vikings losing. Huh oh wait, it was actually
pretty close to exactly that. But hey, I would have
rather been wrong, like I would have rather the Vikings
decided to just absolutely bootstomp the Eagles. But I still
(01:06):
think the Eagles are one of the best teams in
the NFC, possibly the league. It's just gonna take a
little bit. You gotta remember last year they got off
to a little bit of a slow start to their
offensive line didn't quite look like it was good to
rebound from missing a few guys, and then they all
of a sudden had one of the best defenses in
(01:26):
the league, or I mean, it's one of the best
defensive we've ever seen in the Super Bowl. So the
Eagles are I still think if any of you know me,
you're the best team in the league until you're not.
That being said, they're the Super Bowl champs, So I
mean they are still the best team in the league
(01:47):
until they lose that last game of the season. So there,
there you have it. I still think the Eagles are
very good team. That game was winnable, though. The Vikings
had a city situation in which they've been in many, many,
many times, many years in a row, where they come
off a bye, they have extended period of time to
(02:11):
go against a team in which is beatable and the
team is coming off two straight losses. I'm talking to
the Eagles, of course, and then all of a sudden
they get right. I called it kind of the get
right time for the Eagles because I swear to god,
they look pretty damn good on offense, just Brian Flores defense.
(02:33):
What's happening right now? Is it just the players aren't
executing his plan? Or is his plan just not happening?
Like is he trying something that isn't working? What's the
deal there? You're giving up way too many yards through
the air, way too many yards on the ground. I mean,
(02:55):
technically before that game you were the second overall run defense,
and it didn't look like it at all. Offense definitely
has his issues. Who the fuck's gonna be the quarterback?
Is it Bro's turned to throw? Like Bruce and a
few of the other guys from Beerbelly Sports, they're thinking
(03:16):
Bro's time to throw. I don't know, man, I don't
think brosemur. I don't think it's a time yet. If
JJ McCarthy's healthy, I mean, I'm recording this Tuesday evening,
wonderful evening, beautiful colors all around, very very chilly, my
type of weather. I'm gonna go broadcast some football forty degrees.
(03:36):
That's good for my fat ass. Anyway, Is it good
for JJ McCarthy to get healthy? I have no idea,
to be honest with you. I don't know who the
fuck they're gonna have throwing this weekend or not even
this weekend, this Thursday against the Chargers. It would be
nice to have JJ McCarthy go against his old college
football championship coach in mister Harbaugh. But I don't know.
(04:02):
I think Carson Wentz is if Carson Wentz is still
in there, he's just gotta do a little bit better.
That's something that I shout out to my friend Eric Thompson.
He said it perfectly. Wentz at his best, you can
absolutely win with him, you can. But his worst is
(04:25):
I don't know if there's a word worse than abysmal,
because it's like some of those throws are like, what
the hell is going on? Ken? Carson Wentz even throw
to his left, there's schemes where this offensive scheme, there's
guys open. Even in the touchdown that wasn't to Hockinson, Like, dude,
(04:50):
I'm telling you, he was wide open, Like there shouldn't
have even been like an absolute diving catch. I know
he was someone on the run. He was under dress
all f and day only had the two sacks, but
he was under duress. It had to have been close
to half the time, and I don't know the official
PFF numbers, but he had to have been hurried or
(05:14):
he looked hurried. But I still think if Carson Wentz
is healthy enough to go out there, I mean, you
have a short week, you just get him out there
and get him into a situation in which this game
is winnable too. I think you have a good opportunity
here to go four and three. Is that going to happen? Though?
(05:35):
I don't know like we have. Aaron Jones is coming
back the way it sounds, or at least he's practicing
in some sort of capacity. I don't know if he
can come off of IR quite yet, hasn't been that
full time, but he is back at practice, So that's
something positive. That's a little purple positivity for you, Aaron Jones.
(05:56):
I think between him and Mason would be awesome one
to almost a one to one punch, to be honest
with you. They're both getting paid quite a bit of money,
and I just think they need to run the football
a little bit more. Just having nine runs in the
first half and thirteen in the second half when it's
a close game where it was nine to eleven or
nine and thirteen. I know it was. It seemed like
(06:18):
it was almost under twenty. It was just barely I
think twenty two runs total, and it was a game
that was close. So the play action passing on first
down is fantastic. I fucking love that. I love getting
ahead of the sticks. Defensively, we only had to really
see the brotherly shove a couple times. Looked like Flor's
(06:41):
had something planned for that, having the guy coming in
all sideways and whatnot. That I mean, those are all good.
It's all good there, like they did exactly what they
need to do. But third and long, you gotta get
off the f and field. Why can't you get off
the field, get it? I just don't understand it. It's
(07:05):
something where you could almost throw in You don't even
have to go man to man on some of those
third and fifteens, third and eight, like, you don't have
to bring a whole bunch of pressure. And then even
when they only rush three or four guys, they were
still getting burned. Gotta get some pressure on the quarterback,
especially when it's Jalen Hurts. This weekend, Herbert, he hasn't
(07:29):
had himself. He's very if you own him in fantasy.
You know this, he is not having the greatest season
in the world. He's almost unstartable in fantasy. So I think, honestly,
I think this is a situation where the Vikings just
have to release the hounds. They gotta come out with
a chip on their shoulder because people are stopping. They're
(07:51):
stopping the belief. Right now, there is no way everyone
in Minnesota believes that Kevin O'Connell is the answer at coach.
No one believes that Carson Wentz is the answer at quarterback,
and it's to be seen whether or not JJ McCarthy
is the answer there. Tell you what is the answer
at running back is Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones if
(08:14):
he can get back healthy. Because that run game is
not awful. There was a couple times where they're ripping
off six, seven, eight yards on first down or second
down even and it just looks great play action on
first down. That's usually an indicator as to you know,
they found you out, they know you're gonna run on
(08:36):
first down, and if you miss that play action pass,
then you're sitting second and ten. So you just gotta
get a little more decisive with the football. I don't
understand why we aren't doing a little quick outs, quick routes.
I mean, there's there's wide receivers in this league that
make a killing on game day just doing simple slants.
(09:00):
Do they have to be all these elaborate rollouts, long
drawn out getting these guys open. No. Two of the
best receivers in the league right now, you can get
open right away. And Hockinson, I'm not sure why they're
not utilizing the middle of the field with him. There's
a lot of times where there's wide open shell type
(09:20):
of coverage. I just think that's got to be starting
to take advantage of. And it is go time. I mean,
the bias passed you. You're supposed to be kind of
humming along right now, tough stretch. I understand that. But
this is a game that's winnable. I've seen so far
one and a half, two and a half Vikes favored.
(09:44):
I don't know how much that's gonna move because it's
Thursday night already. So I hope, I hope the Vikes
are really ready to bring it because I'm gonna predict
them winning. To be honest with you, I predict them
to get a gutty win. I predict that they run
the football a little more effectively, and I guess I'm
(10:06):
gonna stick with Carson Wentz. I think I'm gonna predict
that Carson Wentz is still gonna be the guy because
JJ McCarthy. They're not gonna put him in a situation
where he's still injured and hasn't been taken the first
snaps with the offense or the offense, Uh, with the
first the snaps with the first team is what I
should say. Anyway, thanks to your Belly Sports, seventh to
Avenue Pizza and you know until next week. Scold Witches
