Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is now a time for Minnesota Golden Gophers after dark
with the Minnesota Sports Governor Vince Right, Well, what's off everybody?
We are definitely right on the edge Gophers after dark,
and let's just get right to it here on the
Beer Belly Sports Network. I am Vince Wright, Sports Governor,
your congenial host, and there's just no two ways about this.

(00:25):
So let's just throw a little parental advisory warning out there.
There may be some cuss words dropped here because this
was just a complete bullshit effort by the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Total yards in yesterday's game, I will had two hundred
and seventy four kind of power for what you think

(00:46):
they do. But Minnesota only had one hundred and thirty
three total yards in this game, two point five yards
per play. They had twenty four rushing yards Drake Lindsay,
and boy did Drake definitely get the wake up call yesterday.
One hundred and nine yards passing interceptions pick six is

(01:06):
touchdowns on punts. I mean, Iowa clicking in every facet
of the game. And I definitely don't want to turn
this into Hawkeye Centro or some type of Hawkeye love fest,
but listen, go for Nation. You gotta give credit where
it's due. This has not been a rivalry. We have

(01:27):
won one game since the year two thousand in Iowa City,
three total, and that's not a rivalry. That's an ass whipping.
And yesterday's game forty one to three for Iowa. I
mean this game was over literally ten minutes into the

(01:48):
first quarter when I will win up ten to nothing,
and then seventeen nothing. I mean, there is just no
hope for Minnesota. I was on social media. I was
on Twitter and Facebook making sure to just kind of
stand touch and do that thing while the game was live.

(02:08):
And no hope from anybody there. You know, once it
was seventeen nothing, that game was done. And here was
the other thing too, Gopher Nation. That really surprised me.
The speed of Wisconsin or wes Con excuse me, the
speed of Iowa. I mean, on the on the touchdown returns,

(02:31):
nobody was catching them, Iowa quarterback Gronowski, I mean everybody.
It made the Gophers look like these Gopher teams were
like it was the nineteen sixties or something. I couldnot
believe the speed of the Iowa Hawkeys. The only thing
I was missing is a top tier wide receiver. But

(02:56):
I digress. Gophers gotta figure this one out. PJ has
really got to do some soul searching, you know, the coordinating.
There's got to be answers for this one. There has
got to be answers for this one. This is one
of the oldest college quote unquote rivalries, and this is

(03:19):
how you show up. Come on, man, and again, you
know we've had close games with Iowa and you've heard
me before, You've heard me for years on this podcast
talking about it, how we have blown these opportunities to
mediocre IOWA teams. Well, yesterday Iowa was anything but mediocre,
and they made the Gophers look like, you know, they

(03:41):
were a junior college football team. And look how good
Drake Lindsay had been playing. And then the Iowa defense
shows up and it makes him a non factor, non
factor whatsoever. He was sixteen or twenty eight, three interceptions,

(04:03):
and like I said, nobody after that. Xavier Ford rushed
for twenty five yards. Lamecky Brockington had six catches for
fifty four yards outside of Drake Lindsley, outside of Drake Lindsay,
excuse me, Lamecky Brockington has really just kind of been
the Gophers second MVP player in my opinion. But yesterday
is just there's no excuses that we hate Iowa chance.

(04:26):
All that stuff's got to go away for a while
because we have got a regroup. The Minnesota Golden Gophers
got a regroup, and this can still go south or
it can still kind of go north. And this is
where I am very interested to see what happens next

(04:46):
week and who shows up and what PJ. Fleck does
to motivate his squad after an ass thumping to the
Iowa Hawk Eyes, because now you've got Michigan State coming in.
You are a favorite in the game early betting lines,
and you know, if you lose this game, you got

(05:07):
the apathy of the Minnesota Gopher fans. You know, they
may just be like, hey, we're gonna check out this season,
or you get it back on track. There are some
games out there, there are some very good victory opportunities
still out there if you can right this ship still

(05:27):
and let's see what happens. But yesterday was just a horrible, crappy,
bullshitty effort. And you know, I saw a lot of
the term belt to ask being tossed around on Twitter
yesterday because that's exactly what it was, an ass whooping
by the Iowahaw guys. There's no need to really get

(05:50):
into anything else. I mean, PJ after the game, you know,
you get you gotta own this one. You gotta own
this one. So let's see what happens. Two third next week,
Gophers back at home Michigan State and Michigan State played
a nice quarter of a game yesterday with Michigan and

(06:12):
don't be surprised. You know they got some talent on
that team. And Gophers just you know, this is a
team again. We still I guess we don't really know
what we got all of a sudden. The Nebraska game
may have just given us a little bit of false hope,
but it is what it is. So there you go.
Gophers lose, Let's see if they bounce back next week.

(06:32):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
