Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is now time for Minnesota Golden Gophers after dark with
the Minnesota sports governor Vince right.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Everybody vents right the sports governor here on Gophers after dark,
right on the edge again, and yes.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
The Gophers definitely took it right to the edge.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Michigan State comes into town, Sparty, plays a nice competitive game,
and our Gophers find a way, find a way after
a disappointing game to get a victory. So, you know,
let's just figure it. First off, the Gophers are who
they are. They're a mid level Big Ten team. Let's

(00:42):
just get that out there right now. So you get
that in your thought processes. What you hope with a
program like Minnesota is every once in a while that
program will rise up like we did in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
And become a player.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
You know, whether that's college football playoff talk, big tat
championship talk, whatever the case is. So coming off that
horrendous ass whooping down in Iowa, you know, the Michigan
State game was a must win game and they go
up to nothing kind of stall Michigan State. And props

(01:18):
to the Michigan State Spartans because they kept playing, they
kept plowing, got back.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
In the game, took the lead, and the Gophers.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Props to them for sticking with it, rowing that boat,
as PJ likes to say, and finding a way at
the end to win this game. Get it to overtime,
win it in overtime, Drake lindsay with the mad dash off.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
To the left hand side.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
But you know, props to the Gophers for winning the game,
become Bowl eligible, keep a season in play that they
can wind up with possibly like eight wins. They're on
a bowl game, maybe nine wins, so that's all good.
But wanted to just take a moment during this qu
it kind of recap to just again, remember there's been

(02:03):
a lot of talk about what type of program the
University of Minnesota is. A lot of people ironically been
talking about trying to get a new coach, getting tired
of PJ rowing the boat, all the mannerisms and things
like that. You got to realize that this is who
Minnesota is and PJ has brought a lot of respectability.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
He has brought a you know, moderation of winning.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Because you know, I come from times where Gophers had
three and four wins in the season, so I get it.
You want the Indiana effect on this program. I trust
me the sports governor gets it. But also realize where
we've come from. And for some of those younger Gopher

(02:52):
fans who kind of maybe PJ is all they've really known.
Like I said, I've come for some really dark times
of Gopher football Jim Whacker, and for us to be
where we are now, trust me, I'll take it. I
will definitely take it. So just keep that in mind.
And yeah, hopefully and in this age of NIL, where

(03:14):
your team is constantly changing, you can't really rely anymore
on bringing people up a year or two like we
used to in the olden days, and now you don't.
Your squad changes every year depending on innil. You don't
know what you got and you got to work with
what you got. So so far, so good, I would
say for PJ.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Fleck.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
So with that being said, by week coming up, then
the big trip out to Oregon to take on the Ducks.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
A lot of people not looking for.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
A win there, but maybe a little bit of some competitiveness,
some spirit the fight. Once you get out there, let's
see what we can do. And I would one thing
I would like to say on PG I want him
to get a little more aggressive in situations too.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Some of these.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Screen passes out there where we're getting no gains, and
you know, sometimes it just becomes very predictable, I guess, is.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
What I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
So with that being said, like I said, Gophers become
Bowl eligible, they get the six wins, and let's see
what happens here. So enjoyed the bye week and we
will be back soon. I'm Gophers after dark. I'm the
bearer Belly Sport

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
