On tonight’s episode, Vince gives a quick breakdown of the Gophers’ tough matchup against the Oregon Ducks. Minnesota sputtered on both sides, Drake Lindsay was meh. But in the second half, Oregon’s speed and big-play ability took over, allowing the Ducks to pull away late.
Vince highlights what the Gophers did well, where things slipped, and what Minnesota can take with them into the rest of the season.
That’s all coming up on Wright On The Edge: Gophers After Dark, right here on the Beer Belly Sports Radio Network.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is now a time for Minnesota Golden Gophers after Dark
with the Minnesota Sports Governor, Vince Right. Hey, what's going
on everybody, Vince Right, the sports governor. This is Gophers
after Dark right on the edge here on the Beer
Belly Sports Network. And really not a whole lot to

(00:20):
really talk about with the Gopher Oregon game last night,
and you know, honestly went the way that most of
the Gopher nation really expected this game to go. So no,
no big surprise. They're forty two to thirteen. Gophers. You know,
maybe played a little bit better in this game than

(00:40):
obviously they did at Iowa. But the one thing that's
really just kind of still this really just kind of
kicks in the gut here is this Gopher defense very
very very poor tackling. Infamous on that Noah Winnington touchdown
run where he almost fumbled himself. Crazy crazy ass play there.

(01:02):
But that's really the embarrassing thing because this go for
defense has really regressed here over the past couple of seasons.
And you know, outside of the Nebraska game, and ironically,
you know, they find a way to get these sacks
and you know, conference leading sack numbers, but man, they
just the tackling has just been embarrassing here, and they've

(01:25):
really been able to stop no one. Now I get it,
you know, well, you know, but even in games like
the Michigan State game, you know, you got to take
away the Northwestern State game to start season off. But
you know, they've played like a half of good defense
and then all of a sudden it goes in the tank.

(01:46):
I don't know. I'm really gonna have to reevaluate that
here after the season. But you know, Drake Lindsay looked okay,
probably as good as he was gonna look against Oregon
Darius Taylor fifty seven yards there. But again, you know,
just you know, no, you know, from Minnesota, just just

(02:08):
nothing really, no real it's supposed it's supposed to plays.
Had a couple okay drives, you know, but you know,
I don't know if this uh Coy Perrish thing is
working with him offense and defense. I know that was
a big part of him being here and being able
to come play for the Gophers and make that nil,

(02:29):
but I don't know if that's really working. But with
that being said, we move on Northwestern, who, by the way,
UH did everything they could to you know, beat Michigan.
They lose the Michigan here on the last second field
goal a few moments ago as we are recording this show.
And you know, Gophers, they can't overlook these last two

(02:50):
games Wisconsin. You know, they played Indiana, you know, pretty
tough for about half the game here. So none of
these games are in the bank here for Minnesota. Obviously,
Minnesota goes to Wrigley Field to play Northwestern, there will
be a lot of Gopher fans, of course, but with
that being said, yeah, they better be prepared because Northwestern

(03:12):
played a decent football game today and Northwestern is a
decent football team. Wisconsin, I think they're starting to kind
of believe and fickle here and it's starting to catch
on a little bit. They have a real tough schedule,
so you know it's not going to result in anything
this year. But again, they're playing better football on that
Gopher AX game, by no means is a give me

(03:35):
for the Minnesota Gophers. You know, offense shows up here
and there, but the defense again, just the tackling, the schemes,
I don't know, We're gonna have to check that out.
So with that being said, two games left and a
lot opportunities here for the Gophers to really have a

(03:55):
very impressive record. We will see what happens. So in
next week we'll be back at it here on the
Beer Belly Sports Network. I am Vince Wright, Sports Governor.
Thanks for tuning in to Gophers After Dark Peace

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
