Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, friends, Welcome back to Big Goal Energy. Today's episode
might challenge you just a little bit, but I promise
it's in the best way possible, because today we're going
to talk about something that so many ambitious women unconsciously
rely on when they are pursuing their big goals, and that.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Something is hope.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Now, don't get me wrong, y'all know I'm a total
star Wars Girly. There is an entire movie called a
New Hope. Hope feels good, it is comforting. It gives
us something to hold on to when things outside of
us feel really uncertain. But here's the truth that I
(00:41):
have come to learn, hope is not actually a success strategy.
In this episode, I'm going to be sharing a real
email that I received this week from someone who wanted
help making money in their business, and I'm going to
share my honest response. Plus I'm gonna share a low
personal story from the time in twenty thirteen when I
(01:02):
almost had the words las beeranza, which means hope in Italian,
tattooed on my body. But how the morning of the appointment,
I woke up with this deep knowing that that's not
what I wanted to feel.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Every day, so I'm gonna tell.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
You what I got tattooed on me Instead, you gotta
stick around. We are going to explore deeply why hope
actually keeps us stuck, keeps us in this place of limbo,
and why it's actually embodied action, grounded belief and strategy
that moves the needle towards our biggest goals. Welcome to
(01:40):
this episode of Big Goal Energy. I'm Bri Sealy. I'll
see you in the episode. You were never meant for
a small life. You have bold ideas, audacious dreams and
visions that keep you up at night. But the truth
is big goals don't come with step by step instruction,
and success doesn't come from doing more. It comes to
becoming more. Welcome to Big Goal Energy, a podcast for
(02:04):
high achieving women who are done shrinking, striving, and second
guessing and are ready to defy reality in pursuit of
the life they actually want. I'm your hostess, Free Sealy,
goal architect, subconscious strategist, and your permission slip to want
what you want. Join me as we go beyond the
service level success to explore the mindset, identity, and inner
(02:27):
work required to bring your biggest, most Delulu goals to life.
This is your space to be seen, to be expanded,
and to remember that you are not alone on this journey.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Let's get into it.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Hello everyone, Welcome to this very special episode of Big
Goal Energy. Now why is it a special episode? Well,
as this episode is getting released, it's my birthday. Obviously,
I am not recording this on my birthday. I am
still in Arkansas. If you've been following along with any
of the other episodes, why I took myself to Arkansas
(03:03):
and we'll be coming out in the coming in the
following months around what I've learned while being in Arkansas.
But I don't really want to work on my birthday,
so I'm recording this ten days early so that you
can have it in your ears and in your heart
while I am off in the sunshine. I've asked Jordan
to take me out to breakfast, one of my favorite places.
(03:24):
We are going out to a fancy dinner tonight. I
have no idea where we're going. I put some options
on the table and then I tried to talk to
Jordan about it, and he was like, can you just
this is none of your business?
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Can you just stop?
Speaker 1 (03:37):
So I was like Okay, fine, he'll figure it out
as I'm recording it. This past week, I got an
email from someone. Now, this was someone that had gone
on my website and they had applied for a free
call with me.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
And I got back to them and said, Hey, I'm
so excited.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
I see that you're creating zero dollars a month in
your business right now, and you want to be creating
five thousand dollars a month in your business right now.
I would love to chat with you about this. Let's
set up a time to talk. She responded back, quote
hoping to make things work quote, and I'll be really
honest with you. Her response actually broke my heart because
(04:12):
I know that hope is not actually an energy that
moves us forward. Hope is an energy that keeps us stuck.
I'm actually going to read to you the email that
I wrote back to her. I have it over here
on my cell phone, and I am then going to
dive into why we can hope but it can't be
our predominant strategy and why in twenty thirteen, I chose
(04:36):
not to get the words hope tattooed on me.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
So here was my response.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Thank you so much for your reply I hear your hope,
and I deeply respect that you're holding onto your vision
even when things aren't working yet. The good news you
don't have to rely on hope alone. With the right support,
strategy and mindset shifts, five thousand dollars a month becomes
a lot more attainable than I feel right now. I'd
(05:01):
love to get on a call with you so we
can explore what's keeping you stuck, what's possible for your business,
and what the first steps could be look like to
get you into momentum. Let me know if you're ready
to move from hoping it works to making it work.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I've got you, Brie. Now a lot of.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
People would be like, Brie, why are you discouraging people
from hoping like hope? Especially in today's society, we need
to have more hope. And again, as a Star Wars
Girly episode four, a new Hope, I totally get that hope.
It's a good starting energy. It's a good place to begin.
And if that's where you've started. And this woman applied
(05:41):
for a call with me two or three months ago,
if two or three months later you've made no progress
or more, might I add I had a call with
a woman once who'd been in business for ten years
and never made a single dime in her business. We
can start in hope, but if we're two, three months,
six months, ten years, I'm still hoping. Hope is actually
(06:03):
a detrimental place to be. And the reason that I
believe that hope can be a detrimental place to stay
is because it strips us and it robs us of
our personal power. Instead of saying what can I do
today with what I have and where I am to
create blink, we're sitting around thinking, Oh, I just I
(06:26):
hope this really works. I hope it works. Hope is
not an empowered emotion. Hope to me actually feels like bypassing.
It feels like, well, if I just sit here and hope,
then I don't actually have to do anything about my
dreams and big goals in the world. And then when
(06:46):
it doesn't happen, it's not my fault. It's the universe
or God who clearly didn't hear my prayer and did
not bestow upon me the circumstances the change in circumstances
that I want. Whereas when you approach it from the
perspective of what can I do with where I am
(07:08):
and what I have to create insert your goal here.
First of all, you actually have to do something. You
have to put yourself out there. You have to have conversations,
you have to tell people about your big goals.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
I get it, like I get why that.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Option's fucking scary, and I get why hope feels like
a very safe, as I mentioned in the opening of
the episode, comfortable place to exist. But hope does not
spark momentum. Hope doesn't put you into action and empower
you to be the creator of your dreams and goals.
(07:47):
If you're sitting around all day hoping that things come
to you, hoping the customers find your website in the
billions of websites that there are online, hope that's one
happens to see your resume or that you've put that
I'm looking for work thing on your LinkedIn right Like,
there is no you in that equation. You're like sitting
(08:10):
back and saying, I have no power to actually change
my circumstances, when the truth is, you're the only fucking
person who has the power to change your circumstances. You're
the one who gets to show up and take a
step every single day maybe two steps, maybe three steps,
(08:32):
and at the end of the year, if you keep
taking one, two or three steps, you have walked a very,
very very long way. But if you're hoping, there's no
momentum in that because you're not moving, you're not taking
any steps. You're standing where you are, saying, oh, gosh,
I hope, I I just really want something to come
to me. When I first lived in la I was
living with a very very very dear friend of mine, Lamar,
(08:55):
and he said to me one day, I was very single,
wanting to date, wanting to me my person. He said
to me, you know, Brie, he's not knocking on our door.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
If you're really truly.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Serious about meeting your husband like you say you are,
and like you're hoping for, get your ass up and
get the fuck out of the apartment because he's not
coming here to knock on the door. And I think
about that a lot. Do we really want to be
the people who are sitting back hoping and wishing and praying,
(09:26):
or are we the kind of women who are saying,
I know what I want, and I know that if
I show up in my authenticity and my integrity and
take one to three steps today that by the end
of the year, I'm going to be in a radically
different spot. If you're listening to this and thinking, I
wish I had more people in my life who just
(09:47):
get it, You're not alone. Big Goal Energy women are rare.
We're the ones dreaming big, defying norms, and refusing to settle.
And that is exactly why I created the Big Goal Energy.

(10:51):
I believe this was my fifth tattoo, and a lot
of my tattoos are language their words.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
I have prior to this.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
I have one in Farsie, I have one in Chinese,
I have two in English, and I knew I really
wanted one in Italian because I lived there for two years.
I began to think to myself, like, what word do
I want tattooed on myself? Also important to know, I
kind of started tattooing these words or energies on myself
(11:21):
when I was eighteen. All of my tattoos have come
before me, embodying the.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Energy of what the tattoo is.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
For example, when I was in high school, I was
a total, absolute, complete fucking pessimist. I, for whatever reason,
tattooed the word smile on my body. Fast forward several years,
All of a sudden, I'm an optimist. I got a
corporate job straight out of grad school and was so
terrified to be without that corporate job. It took me
(11:53):
a while to be without that corporate job and be
a full time entrepreneur. But I got the words live
in love FARSI tattooed on me. I was choosing love
over fear. I have a tattoo that says faith on me.
I have a tattoo that says shine on me. What
I unconsciously have done with all of my tattoos, is
that I tattoo the energy that I want to embody
(12:16):
next onto me, And it's almost like I'm stamping myself
with the energy of whatever that word or phrases.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
So here I am.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
I've been thinking about this tattoo for a while. I
love when you say the word hope in Italian. It
is just beautiful Las Beranza like it just it has
the Italian cadence, the consonants and the vowels and the
way it flows. I mean, it is a beautiful word.
It's also not a cognate, So if you've never studied
a language before, a cognate is a word that in
(12:47):
another language looks basically like the word in English. I
didn't want it to look like a word in English,
but be in Italian. Example, the word automatic in English.
In Italian it's auto matico. It's literally automatic with an
oath the end, right. I didn't want to cognate, So
I have thought about this for a while. Finally settled
on Las Bedanza. Got my tattoo appointment already all set
(13:10):
to go, know where it's gonna go, got the font,
all the things I wake up the morning of my
tattoo appointment, and the first thought that pops into my
head is hope, really the energy that I want to
exist in, that I want to dwell in, that I
want to feel on a daily basis. Immediately my brain
was like, no, I do not want to spend my
(13:33):
time and energy hoping for something.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Do you know what I want?
Speaker 1 (13:37):
If I have a goal or a dream, I fucking
want to live it. I don't want to hope for it.
I want to be in it. I want to feel
like I'm creating it. I want to be on the
journey of it, not sitting around being like, oh, I
really hope this happens. So I wake up that morning
and then I have my tattoo appointment that afternoon, and
I'm like, well, shit, I have a tattoo appointment today.
I've been spending weeks thinking about this, and now I
(13:59):
don't know what word I'm gonna get. I started going
through and really looking at the dictionary, like what do
I want to embody on a daily basis? If it's
not sitting around hoping and wishing and waiting.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
What do I want?
Speaker 1 (14:13):
And just as I've kind of walked you through through
this entire episode.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
I want momentum. I want action.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
I want to feel like I have the power to
control and change my destiny. I want to know that
I can create whatever the fuck I want to create.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
So what is that energy? Because that is not hope.
I'll show you. If you're watching on.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
YouTube, you can see it's right here. It says lat regina,
which means the queen. I don't know about you, I
would much rather be embodied as a queen if you
think about not literally a queen obviously, but what does
a queen represent and what does a queen embody. A
queen is a woman who has power and personal power
(14:59):
from within. A queen is a woman who can command
a space. A queen is a woman who has the
ability and the access to resources to do the things
that she wants to do in the world. In August
of twenty thirteen, I had the words the queen tattooed
on me because I decided back then that I was
(15:22):
done hoping that I was done being the person who
is disempowered around my ability to create change in my life.
If you know anything about my story, it was less
than two years later that I closed my fashion business
of eight years and became a full time entrepreneur doing
what I'm doing today. Have I embodied the Queen every
(15:43):
moment of every day for the last twelve years. No,
I fucking haven't. And I wake up a majority of
days empowered. I start my days asking what can I
do today with what I have and where I am
to bring my.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Goals to life.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
I share this with you today, of all days, on
my forty second birthday, because obviously this is what I
do with other people, and this is the journey that I've.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Created in my life.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
If I were still hoping for things to change, God,
I can feel myself starting to cry. I'm feeling this
emotion well up from my deep belly. Like if I
had just sat around hoping for change, I might still
be living in my hometown. I might have sacrificed my needs, wants,
and desires as a child free woman to marry my
(16:30):
college boyfriend who now has three children. I almost chose
that path. There were a lot of options on my
journey to just simply hope. And if my journey can
be any sort of reflection of possibility to you, hope
doesn't create change. If you even think about Star Wars
Luke didn't just sit around hoping that someone else would
(16:53):
defeat the Emperor. He went out and got out of
his comfort zone. He left his planet. He had all
of these crazy adventures to go out and defeat evil.
Had he just stayed at home with his aunt and
uncle hoping, he would have died. Obviously, that's a cinematic,
like super extreme version, You're not gonna die if you
(17:14):
sit around hoping at home. But I want to illustrate
for you this shift in perspective. And while don't get
me wrong, I still have hope. I still get to
tap into hope whenever I want to, but I'm not
hoping that things work out. I'm doing something about my dreams.
And I want to catalyze you or spark something within
(17:37):
you with this episode today on my birthday, to say,
you have the fucking power within you.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
You have access to resources.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
And knowledge and things that the generations before us did
not have access to. Do not waste it sitting around hoping.
Get out there, take action. I know that it's scary,
but action is the only thing that is going to
create momentum. And I will add on to this, don't
(18:09):
just go out and take any actions This is not
about hustling. This is not about burning yourself out. This
is about strategically knowing the one to two steps you
need to take each day. Scratch that, rewind the one
to two steps you get to take each day to
bring your dreams to life. Because you, my love, have
the power. You have everything you need within you and
(18:33):
at your fingertips to change your circumstances. If you want
to go from zero dollars a month to five thousand
dollars a month, you have the power to do that.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
I'm building a brand new.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Business right now that's going to be going from zero
dollars a month to ten thousand dollars a month in
the next month or two. You have the power to
change your circumstances, and hoping is not the thing that's
going to get you there. This was my birthday gift
to you today is to ignite with it something more
than hope. Yes, have that glimmer of hope in your eye,
(19:05):
in your heart and your soul, and then go fucking
do something about it. And if you need some accountability,
dm me and tell me that you're going to go
do something about it, so that I can check in
with you later. And be like, Hey, how'd that thing go?
You can find me on Instagram at Brescialy. You can
download the Big Goal Energy app and DM me on there.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
I am so.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Incredibly grateful to be on this journey with you. Be
surpassing hope, be creating momentum, be embodying the power that
has been hidden within us for thousands of years, because
it's time to unleash it, and I am here unleashing
it with you. Cheers to another fantastic year around the Sun.
I always think I'm like most excited for that year
(19:49):
when it's my birthday. And maybe that's just my m O,
maybe that's my hope, but I truly think that forty
two is going to be a pretty fucking epic year
for me. Big hugs, Happy may I'll see you in
the next episode.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
