Why not a Judd? Why not a? You've known that
that's a stage name, right, Naomi? Stage name? Yeah? You

A Judd, and supposedly you're the one that gave her

This is true? Is it really? Let me think back?
What year was seventy eight, seventy nine, I don't know,
somewhere around there. Naomi was a nurse in la and Christina,
her daughter was thirteen. Naomi used to come to their
shows and hang out, and she was dating Johnny Nicholas
piano player at the time who owns the Hilltop Old

(01:11):
Fredericksburg in Texas. And so she came up to me
one day. We were listening to a guy named Wyoni Harris.
It was the old Blue singer It's Whinoni, And we
also had Root sixty six the song and in the
song it says, don't forget Winona, which is a little
town in Arizona. And so she Naomi said, you know,

(01:41):
you know that's that'd be if you took to me
and Whyoni and said put an a on the end.
It'll be like Whinina. That'd be a good name for
a girl. And I said, well, don't forget Wina, which
is the line from Route sixty six, because it was
her daughter and she was thirteen years old. And she said,
I think I'll call her wine.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
So that's how little did you know?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Their Nameristina. Yeah, no, they weren't singing. They weren't singing.
She wanted to be a singer, but Christina went on,
it was thirteen years old, she didn't sing. Fast forward
five years. I swear to god, I'm watching the Today
Show and now a mother daughter thing, you know, And
I went, wait a minute, that's that's that girl. And

(02:23):
they were so good, I mean, and it went on
to obviously one of the great voices of all the time,
you know. But yeah, that's that's the story, and that's it.

Speaker 1 (02:32):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
