“Piense usted ahora en los ámbitos de internet, del blockchain y de la conectividad. Y aparte, tiene un producto (la IA) que le ayuda a mejorar su productividad, que entiende cosas y que es capaz de crear. Es una mezcla explosiva”, asevera el profesor de Teoría Económica de la UB, UIC y Abat Oliva. Durante la cuarta revolución industrial “nos cuestionaremos muchas cosas”, por lo que considera imprescindible tener “un criterio propio” y la “mente abierta”.
Pone el ejemplo de cómo está impactando la IA en la esfera académica, ya que es capaz de potenciar el rendimiento humano hasta el punto de “convertir a un estudiante mediocre en uno muy bueno, mientras que al que ya lo es lo mejora, pero no tanto”, comenta en el podcast “Bolsillo”. Por este motivo, considera que en la esfera educativa sería necesario replantear los trabajos universitarios.
Por otro lado, advierte del desacoplamiento que se está produciendo entre la economía real y la economía financiera, tal como se refleja en el fuerte auge de las bolsas europeas a pesar del paupérrimo crecimiento económico de la zona euro. Este fenómeno, que se remonta a la caída de Lehman Brothers en el 2008 y el inicio de la nueva política monetaria, está provocando que los indicadores macroeconómicos tengan un impacto menor en el estudio de los mercados financieros.
Por último, Rey analiza la situación actual de las bolsas: “Si no ocurre nada demasiado inusual, no tendría por qué ser un mal año. Sin embargo, se están dando los condicionantes suficientes para que pueda producirse un cataclismo, especialmente en lo relacionado con la deuda”, advierte. ¿Qué recomienda a ahorradores e inversores para protegerse ante posibles eventualidades?
