Speaker 2 (00:07):
Did Metallica's steal the rip for their biggest hit? It's
not a new allegation, but Dave mus Dain brought it
up again in a recent interview. As you probably know,
Dave was relieved of his duties as Metallica's guitarist before
they made it big, but he retained writing credits on
several of their early classics, including Ride the Lightning and
Call of Kadoo. But seems like he'll be talking about
Metallica for the rest of his life. To be fair,
it's partly because people will never stop asking him about

(00:29):
it anyway. In a new interview, Dave suggests fans look
up a nineteen eighty nine song called Tapping into the
Emotional Void by the band Excel, and if you do,
you'll have a hard time denying they sound really similar.
Excel thought about suing back when Sandman first came out
in nineteen ninety one, but they decided lengthy, expensive.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Legal battle just wasn't worth it.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Instead, they hope Sandman will call more attention to them
and help their careers.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Not sure that strategy works, so well.
