Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good evening everyone, and welcome them Marrisville High School. I'm
Shane Combs alongside Greg Bigan, and you were listening to
Chilikeathee boys basketball on fourteen to ninety WBX on the
amside ninety two point seven on the FM dial or
out there worldwide on iHeart and Greg as I welcome
you in the night. We have Marysville coming in at
(00:22):
two to zero, had a non league blowout win and
then followed up by their conference opener.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
They also had a victory there.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Chillikathe coming in at one and two, started with a
win over Adena. Since then have been testing on the
road against two really quality opponents. In fact, the two
teams that met in the Division two district championship last
year with New Lex and then heartbreaking loss the other night.
We had a thriller down there and warn and overtime.
So I guess certainly road warriors early in the year
(00:50):
here another challenge here on a Tuesday night. Some of
those things even beyond the quality opponent, probably some of
those things on the top of coach beards to do
list in terms of make sure his kids are ready
to go.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, you know, we talked a little bit about it
before we took took the year here tonight. I don't
know what kind of reaction though it's still a pretty
young team with Chill Cooffee. What kind of reaction will
they have to having an eight point lead two minutes
to go, losing an overtime to a good warrant team,
but a game they probably know they had a good
chance to win and didn't work out down the stretch
(01:22):
they lose in overtime, so mentally, and then turning around
on Tuesday night, long trip up here, probably a good
hour from Chili Coffee to Marysville. H We'll see. And
I think kind of this is an obvious captain obvious here,
it's for you, But I think this first four or
five minutes is important to them. The you're away, this
team's too and oh you're on their home court, You're
(01:43):
coming off an overtime loss, you have a couple of mistakes,
if you missed your first couple of shots. What effect
is that? How do they react to that? I think
will be a real key to the game.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Greg, You've got a real good feel for this Chilicoffee team,
you know, from from all the work you've done in
years past and into this year already, and you had
set something in the post game the other night that
really stuck with me.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I thought you were spot on.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
You talked about how it was one of the first
times where you really felt like the young Cavaliers were
really starting to find their roles, their identity for the
fans that maybe weren't with us on Saturday night, tell
us a little bit what you meant by that, Well,
it's pretty much.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
The same team. I think as you develop, and I
think part of that is certainly, you know, with Cayden Cox.
We talked a lot about Cayden and he had a
great game to twenty eighth the other night. But I
think as you develop, do you want Cayden on the
perimeter and attacking the basket, dishing and trying to score,
(02:38):
or do you want to set him up and try
to get the ball inside where he can move around
a little bit. And because he finishes so well, Cooper
stunken Cooper's row. He's a junior. He started when he
was a freshman. He pretty much when he was playing well,
when they played well, he was a good three point
and he still is a good three point shooter. But
Cooper also penetrates, So now you've got Jan Miller. In
(03:00):
my opinion, I don't know how coach Bear. Every game
doesn't work out the same, but generally what we mean is,
I think one Miller handles the ball, he can score
six to eight points a game, but I think, you know,
he's got to set the offense up. Maybe he's the
one to penetrate. Yeah, and you got Andy Hammon and
Andrew on one side, maybe, and you get Cooper on it.
I like to see Cooper less driving where he's got
(03:23):
ball responsibility and maybe he gets the second or third
pass in some space where he's not having to go
one on one. And I think as those roles developed,
because that wasn't Cooper's role, One's probably got a little
more of a role handling the ball, even though he
was the point guard. Andrew Hammond now has to play
inside because of lack of heights. Sison gunn in foul
trouble first couple of games, so maybe he's got to
(03:45):
post up more. He's not going to be able to
stand in the corner like he did last year. So
I think the roles have changed, not that they can't
do those things, but I think all of a sudden,
these guys say, you know what, this is where I
need to be on the floor when we're doing this.
This is where I'm going to find my shot. This
is where I got to recognize there's two defenders. I
can't go between two guys. And I think those roles
and I really think part of it again, teams are
(04:08):
going to scout, They're not gonna let kaytn cox. But
like the other night, that was what was effective. He
was effective inside eight foot nine foot twelve foot jumper, driving,
laying it off the glass late in the game. They
double team be wisely so for Warren and I think
not that he can't step outside and you can't do
the same thing every time, but I think that's his strength.
(04:29):
Andrew Hammond's strength stands still great stand still shooter, but
he also now knows that he can get some offensive rebound.
Those roles, I think the starter to develop a little bit.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Well, I think that's no, I think, but I think
it's It was a great explanation the other night. And
you know, and as I listened to you and I
think about the flow on the offensive. Yeah, we left
New Lex talking about we wanted to see a little
bit more rhythm, a little bit more flow. I thought
we did see that at Warren And I think what
you just describe player by player is a lot of
the reason why now, let's shift gears to the other
(04:58):
end of the floor. You're obviously from the moment you
watch this team very impressed with their athleticism, very impressed
with their their effort. But Chilic Coffee has really shown
the ability to guard some high level players here in
the early part.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
That's got to be something. Coach Beard is feeling good about.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
It, and that's what he likes. And I think he
came out and said that we want to be able
a little more experienced quickness, so we want to be
able to get out on and do some pressure. You know,
it was effective against the Dina, It's a it was
somewhat effective the other night. They they forced more turnovers,
some more and than the Caps had in the ballgame.
But I think tonight we noticed this the other night.
(05:37):
I think one of the key tonight because I don't
know anything about Marysville, but they're tall. Are they six
sixty six four? I'm not sure they're starting.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Cross cross the board all junior seniors and and not
a one of them under about six to one and their.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Point guard is like six two or sixty three, so
they have hype. That means uh So if Hammond doesn't
start at six ' three, system's got a lot of
stuff to do inside. He's been a little bit of
foul throne. But I think tonight maybe you're talking about
that pressure. Sometimes when you're having trouble matching up underneath,
you've got to counter with the fact of getting some
pressure and not let those easy entry passes. So maybe
(06:10):
that's what Coach Beard will do tonight because just looking
at the height here, and I don't know about athleticism,
but height wise it looks to be a little bit
of a mismatch. Now Caden Cox can get up, We'll
have to see how Coach Beard matches up with them
tonight defensively, but I think Daniel Sissm's got to stay
out of foul trouble and be able to rebound to
help us out tonight.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Well, one more question I had forty on my notes
here before we take a break, before we come back
with starting lineups last non league here before we get
into fac play.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
So you've obviously more.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Than tested yourself here in these three straight road games.
We talked a lot about that. You know, obviously you
want to win the basketball game tonight, but can you
put your finger on something you'd really like to see
is at the back to back consistency, the ability to
put put that effort coming off of Saturday night again.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
What is it that you would like to see?
Speaker 1 (06:59):
If I can give you one thing that you want
to see going an f AC player, d wat.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
I'd like to see. Offensively, We've got athletes show the coffee.
I'd like to see, and it doesn't always come around,
but maybe with Juan being a senior and these other
guys getting some experienced, I want to see recognized when
you can go transition and when you need to make
two or three pass.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
That was huge late in the game the other night,
wasn't It was?
Speaker 2 (07:24):
And I thought, h now, if something's going while, you're
gonna get But I think generally speaking, they can get
up and down the floor, but kind of know when
I can go to the basket when it's not gonna
be one on two, one on three, when we need
to pull it back, maybe make a couple of passes
and get into something. Now, part of that depends on
how the defense is pressure and you and if they're
(07:44):
pressure in your full court, it forces your tempo up.
But I think generally speaking, I guess that comes down
to good decisions.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Sometimes when you got those those athletes, those gazelles running
up and down the floor, you know what I mean.
They're they're flying up and down the floor. A lot
about leticism, and it's got to somehow pull in sometimes
and know when to slow it down a bit. And
again you gotta let them. Coach Beer's gonna let them go.
They got athletes, but sometimes you got to recognize it
(08:13):
and set it up and maybe get a couple of
fasses and get a good shot. Not to be too
quick when you don't have the advantage.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Well, Chilicoffee fans, Shane Holmes, Greg Bigham here Mary'sville High School,
we're looking forward to bring it to you. We'll take
a quick time out and we'll come back with tonight's
starting lineupf you're listening to Chilicoffee Boys basketball and wb.

Welcome back up north here, Marysville High School, Shane Holmes,
Greg Big I'm listening to Chilicopie boys basketball here on
fourteen ninety am on WBX and and Greg is as
we take a look down there, can you see those
numbers on the marriage We never did get a starting
lineup for Marysville.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
If you go, it's twenty four three and five and
twelve and twenty three Collins Colin's starting. We mentioned Zach
Barlow starting, also Cole Brewer who goes at six to four,
and then twelve and twenty three it would be Atkins
a junior. In twenty three Ohen Graves a junior. So
(12:18):
they are heavily Brewers a junior, Graves a junior, Atkins
a junior, Barlow is senior, and then Collins is. So
two seniors, three juniors for the Monarchs. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Over here on the chill Coaifee side, they'll run them
out with Can Badger to forward position. There as pretty
much kind of a three guard lineup when you think
of Stone, King, Cox and Miller with Sysam there in
the Miller within the in the middle. You mentioned Miller
running the point guard. Till Coaffee being announced here as
(12:49):
the away team. Pretty good atmosphere here for a Tuesday night,
my first trip up here.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Pretty nice facility. Shane going the game this year, and
you've talked several timers side've got our football season together.
I said, yeah, Shane, other guy to help you outside.
So he calls me f and takes me to New Lexington,
all the way out of the Ohio River to Warren
and now all the way an hour away to Marysville.
So when do we get to do a home game. Well,
(13:18):
it's funny you say that. You know, you get these
neutral site followed by three.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Road games, and then you look at the homeskind to
what it certainly says home quite a bit here in
the next No, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Probably I don't have it in front of me.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
I bet it's probably twelve The next sixteen games, I
think pretty much just your FAC games on the roads
about the only road trips that you come up.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Oh, yeah, it's shame. We talked. We've talked a lot
about conferences and scheduling. And you get the FAC six teams,
so that's five five opponents twice ten games. You got
to find twelve other games. You're an athletic director, so
you got to kind of go and find where you
can play in games and pick up twelve games in
a basketball.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Well that was one of the big biggest fears at
AD's and so forth when they went to the twenty
two games. But you know, all on all, it's working out.
I think teams have to be creative, got to be
willing to play early in the year. Probably have to
be willing to play over Christmas break a little bit,
and then you've got to be willing to still play
some of those back to backs on Friday and Saturday.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
They were by ready to get going.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Here. Both teams have come out and the officials will
check with both benches, Chili Coffee and their road blues
Marysville and the home Whites. Chili Kayfee will be moving
my right to left. Cox wins the tight back to Sism.
He'll toss it back to Miller and Chili Coffee will
play offense here to get a start of the night.
Right side at stone King thought about a three once
(14:39):
to go download a Sism not there, back out Miller Marysville.
Looks like they're there matched up man the man Sism's
got a post opportunity here.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
He'll go strong.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Middle picks up his dribbled back out the Cox just
underway here thirty seconds in Chili Coaffee. On the first possession,
it's bade your left side. He'll dribble up toide. Good
patients here from Chilicothe. On the first possession, stone King
will drive Middle, cut off there back out the Cox.
Cox up above the volleyball line now looks to play Downhill,
(15:12):
hands it off the miller. Miller drives hard, middle jumps
it download of stone King, good shot, fake puts it
up and in really good patients from Chilicothe there in
the first possession they control what about a minute lay
it in.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
That's stone King. And there's a case where Lance didn't
try to force it and wind up under the bucket
and got a nice fast and layou.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Marry's will comes back a little weave action up top
with their with their three guards. Now looks like Drage
wanted to try that. Everybody's cut off there back out.
It's Brewer. His layup hangs up when the rim and
comes off ses them out with the rebound.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Cox will look to push for Chilicothe.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Once he gets his left hand all the way. The
rim does draws a ton of contact. No call out comes.
Mary's mean with the basketball, it's brew.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
You were up the right side. Back to Collins. He'll
try a deep triple. No good.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Cox had the rebound momentarily but lost it.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Mary's goal. Keep it.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
How its graves on the drive guarded by Badger, and
I think Badger bumped him a little bit.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
To say, they're really letting him play. I thought Cox
got bumped heavily on his lay, and so did Marysville
on their attempt to go to the bucket, and that
time Badger just that was it was almost like a
good football block. They got called for the foulb but
so far they're kind of letting him play.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Monarchs run of box, set out of bounds underneath, bring
Collins all the way to ball side corner. He'll miss
the three. Cox out with the rebound, wanted to go
along to Badger and.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Just threw it into the cheerleaders down there on the baseline,
of course, turn over the game for the Cavs. Coach
Beard up telling Cox has said, just if he would
attacked a little bit longer and force that defensive man,
he might have had a little more spacing to get
the ball down to Badgers.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Chilic Athy trying to take Collins out of the point
guard position. Eric Denial made one else coming up. Now
Collins does have it guarded by Miller out top. It's great,
he's guarded by Sism hand off there to Atkins. He
drives cut off by Cox. Good job and he calls
the travel. Good defense from Caden Cox just over a
(17:17):
little two minutes in Chili Coffee leads it two to nothing.
It'll be Chilli coffee ball in the spot. They're going
full length to floor. Marysville is going to pick up in.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
A little bit of pressure in the JV game, Shane,
they will jump the wall. I'll take the defensive man,
jump over and double team you real quickly.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Stone King goes left corner to Cox back out top Miller.
Miller looked to go one on one, spins, good pivot,
good feet there, back out. Stone King thought about the three.
Now he'll back it back out and continue the offense.
Cos Over in the right side, driving hard or excuse me, badger.
Now it's Cox out top again, Chili Coffee showing good patience,
(17:59):
having trouble get to the middle. But again they're they're
not in a hurry. Stone King tries to go inside.
Sism knocked away. Stone King gets it back and then
they'll knock it out of bounds into the Marysville student section,
but Chilicofie'll keep possession.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
It's a good looking student section or the wether got
going on.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
They're nice constructions, a lot of hard hats, construction vests.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Yeah, you know Marysville. They'll they'll put pressure on the ball.
But their other four guys are all in great help
side defense, which they got good spacing, so it's it's
gonna be tough. You might be able to beat your man,
but there's another guy right there that'll jump off, So
it looks like their defensive concept is going to be
tough to score.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Go Cox has it out top. Look for a little
flair to Badger. He'll give away to Stone King over Miller.
He'll drive hard to the middle. He'll stop and go
move dumps it off the sis. That's too nice. Assists
by one Miller. Yeah, Daniel Sism with his first bucket.
Outstanding set up from the senior point guard Miller.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Yeah, he's got two lay after the cab. There's both
a result on.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
One Miller driving edition four thirty five left first quarter
till a coffee up four nuff in here on the road.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Try to go download of Collins and they throw it away.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Good ball pressure from Cox, good denial from Miller, equals
of Marysville turnover. Second turnover on the Monarchs. As Greg said,
Mary's will pick it up. Man the man be ready
for that running jump. Later in the game. Stone King
penetrate kick Cox will try a three off the back rim.
(19:32):
No good out comes Collins of mary's Ville with the rebound.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
He'll push it up the right side. He'll at the
back end Miller.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
He's got a he's got a significant size advantage there.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Now it's Graves on the drive. A tough foule that's
on Scism was a tough foul. He was just help
side and he'd been letting them play, but he got
called for a block.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Sism Church. You know, he has battled some foul trouble.
He's played well in his minutes, but he's just he's
battled foul trouble.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
So therefore the.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Minutes have been less and less all the way out
top Collins. He'll look to go one on one. He'll
shoot a little step back three, No good stone King
out with the rebanner poked away, last touched by the
Monarchs of Chilicothe. He'll have possession. Monny's a row for
three from the three point line. I believe Collins has
(20:22):
launched all.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Three of them. Well, he's oh for three, not afraid
to shoot, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
About six four, he can certainly get that shot about
whenever he wants it. Bager going to play a little
two men with Sisam. He actually rejects the bull screen.
Out's back out stone King. He thought about the three,
but he'll continue to reverse it.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
And out's Cox.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Cox to Badger stone King left corner. He'll try a
triple and he's got it. Good sign for Chilicothee.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Cooper.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Stone King good on his first two attempts, including a
three seven to nothing. Chilicothin Beack comes Mary's bills. Collin's
out top. Now it's great, guarded by Sism over the
left side. It's Brewer deep three from the Lefty Barlow misses,
(21:08):
everything goes out of bounds. Wall back to Chilicothee. We're
five minutes in Chili Coffee, up seven to nothing. Mary's
Ville shot five time shame. Four of their field golfs
have been three pointy attempts, so they're very willing to put.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
Up the three.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Stone King barking out some directions here, got them where
he wants. Now it's going to be Badger and Sism again.
I thought they were going to play two minutes. Saison
now dives into the post, back out, stone King backs
it out again. Really good patience from chilicoffee. Cooper didn't
(21:44):
force it last time. He got a good shot in
the corner, and he's there again, same spot this time,
no good on the three from stone King outcomes to
Marysville at the rebound. I'll look to push little stop
and go move there in the middle. That's Atkins. Now
it's back outside left wing again. Another three point attempt,
no good, but this time Marysville gets the offensive rebound.
(22:05):
Now Brewer attacks baseline with a nice move, just rims out,
but he's going to draw a file. I think they
got stone King there on the drive. You had mentioned
how many threes they shot for five. Certainly some good shooters,
but they're on the drive. Cole Brewer at six ' four,
that's that's going to be a problem if they don't
(22:26):
keep him in front.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Very so. As we said, a lot of hype, but
they're all long, lanky guy and not a lot of
I don't see a lot of defensive linemen and linebackers
in that group. They're just tall, lanky first three throw,
no good.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Two point fifteen first quarter, Chili Coffee up seven to nothing,
and he misses the second one, so that Chili Cooffee
is still pitching a shutout. Coxs will bring it up
cross timeline. It's left wing. Miller takes the ball screen
from Sism. Good health defense there again, Marysville does a
real good job in the dribble gap of not letting
the Chilicoffee ballhandler turn the corner.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
On the other side, Chilicothe doing a good job of
being patient.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Now stone King out on the.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Right wing, he'll drop a bounce pass into the post
to Saism. He'll look to go one on one, draws
the double team back out the Cox and again Chili
Cooffee moves on one counting here in the first quarter,
Cox on the drive, rims in and out.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Stone King gets it back and puts it in.
Speaker 2 (23:32):

Welcome back Mary'sville High School, Shank Holmes, Greg Bigeman. Right
out of the time out at CJ. Collins, the six
y four point guard just takes upon himself. It's a
little mid range jumper. Mary's going now on the board
till Cofie leads at nine to back comes stone King
drives down the middle of initially drag cut off, but
he stayed with it, got all the way the rim,
lays it in and draws the foul.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
That's what stone King can do. And again I think
tonight he's still been aggressive, but I see so far
he's made great choices when to go for the shot
and when to take.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
A little more time free throw good you know, good
shooters getting that rhythm. They see that ball go through early,
that that three ball went down, and he's really off
to a good start. Miller's gonna pick it up full court,
blay some ball pressure. Collins gives way there to to Barlow.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Again.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Mary's wille keeps the paint pretty wide open in an
open post style offense. As Greig said, they like to
shoot the three. Looks like they're very good off the dribble,
but defensively, Till Coffee at just about all five matchups
has been up to the challenge. That night, Colin's out
top over the Barlow. How it's Brewer back out and
(26:12):
it's poked away by stone King. Out in the open.
He goes to the left hand and finish it. Cooper
stone King having himself a first quarter fourteen to two
Chilikithe where at thirty seconds remaining well no fouls, is
Bill are doing good jobs showing his hands. But Colin's
again very nice player at six to four, gets all
(26:32):
the way in and once he gets that deep, certainly
has the height advantage and he scores to cut at
the fourteen four. Let's see if Chilikithe can get the
last shot thirteen seconds in county. It's stone King out
top who's got the hot hand here in the opening quarter.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
He'll call for the ball.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Screen from sism. They jumping and trappy. He steps through,
throws to three up off glass. No good, and we
have come to the end of the first quarter. Hot
start for Cooper stone King, hot start for the Chili
Keith defense. At the end of one your Tavaliers lead
at fourteen to four. You're listening to Chili Cooffee Boys
basketball on fourteen ninety am WBX.

Welcome back Mary's Gale High School. Shane Holmes and Greg Bigham.
Great start Greg for chilicothe there in the opening quarter.
They score the first nine points of the game and
they lead it fourteen to four. It was Cooper stone
King with twelve points there in the opening quarter to
lead Chilicothee.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Your thoughts, Oh, the Cavs six of eleven. That helps
six of eleven from the field. They were one of
four from the three point line, but overall shot over
fifty four percent. Mary s Field was two of nine,
but they were zero five from the three point line.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
It's going to be Monarcs basketball. To start to quarter here,
Collins gets all the way into the middle. Miller knocked
it away on the little mid range jumper. He's trying
to use his height advantage to get Miller deep there
that time, Miller knocks it away. Now this time it's
Brewer on the drive, good shot, taking step through Cole.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Brewer lays it in.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
It's out Mary'sville, cutting.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
The Chilicothee lead to eight. At fourteen to six, stone
King hands it off to Miller. Sism sprints out into
a ball screen. Now it's back over the left side.
Stone King inside says them he's going to look the
tried to throw the diagonal wanted Hammon, who's checked into
(29:04):
too the game for Badger. That ball's knocked out of bounds.
Now Badger that quick is going to come back in
for Sism. So Coach Beard, who stayed with the starting five,
I think because of the good start, is now trying
to get.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Some breathers across the board.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Chili Coothy's gonna inbound it from a weird spot all
the way down there in the corner. Hammon's got it
out on the right wing and in the corner of
the Stone team. He drives hard baseline balls knocked away,
Chili Cofee remains and retains a possession. Cox has got
it on the left wing. He drives in mid range,
dumps it underneath the Badger who tried to get it
(29:40):
up on the rim, but had its striped. Marysville gets
the turnover back comes Collins.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Badger might have been fouled, but again consistency. They're letting
them play underneath a lot of contact.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Good cut there on the curl move from Cole Brewer,
Collins hits him in stride and he lays it in.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Fourteen to eight back to back buckets for Brewer.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Chili Coothie lead at six Stone cring up against pressure,
brought about the teeth free. Now it gives way to Miller,
cows out top, looks to go one on one, gets
to his left hand and he looks like he just
lost his footing and I think they're going to say
he lost it out of bounds. Chili Coothie argued for
(30:22):
a second that it was tipped, but officials did not
see it that way.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
It's early on to right now. Obviously from listening to
the game, listen to Shane, you can tell the hot
hand is Stone King has been able to get good
looks and score and for the most part, I think
they saw in the box score they're a three point shot,
no good, But they saw in the box score. Cocks
with twenty eight, and they're all over him. Yeah, even CJ.
Collins there, he's missed that last three, has four points.
(30:49):
I think one.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Miller's really done a nice job on him, making him
work in the full court.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Stone King deep three and.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
He picks up here in the second quarter where he
left doll stone King with fifteen points already in the game.
Chilcoty leads seventeen to eight. Mary's bill back out. Now
it's Collins again, guarded by Miller. Brewer comes out to
set the ball screen, but Collins is getting pressured by Miller.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Can't hardly get into what they want to at all.
Now it's right side three.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
That was Coyle, the lefty off the bench who misses
a three. Outcomes Chilicothe badger hard drive to the right,
shot up, no good. Hammon wins another possession. Miller will
try a three on the kickout and he got it.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
One Miller. Ben Hammond with an offensive rebound, wins.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
The extra possession, giving the assist as well, and I
sluck by hamm and the rebound was tied up and
got to back out the one. Coyle tried another three.
This time he's got it.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
You could tell Ben Coyle his roll off the bench
is to shoot that triple after missing one. Greg, he
didn't hesitate at all on that second one.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
They were zero for seven from the three point line
untill they hit that one. Being the Monarchy have a
Chili Coffee offensive foul.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
It's kind of a weird situation, kind of a post
up by Badger, and then as Miller started to drive,
I think he just got kind of player control type
and kind of cleared it out.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
So turn it back over to Mary's.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Well, Chili Coffee leads at twenty to eleven, four point
fifty six left in the first half.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Sism will come back for Badger. Was that his second grade?
I didn't see that on the board. I believe it is.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Chili Coffee. Certainly hit by some foul trouble in that
Warren game the other night. So far not too bad
here tonight that comes Brewer outside. It's barlaw bad match
up here.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Greg mentioned that he got all the way the rim
be it a Brewer, but he misses it. Out comes chilicoffee.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Yeah, Brewer was probably too quick for Sism and he
beating one on one to the bucket, but he missed
the layup. And now a foul and.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Carte Liggan will make his first appearance into the game,
replacing sism obviously, cart a very talented freshman there on
the football field and here on the basketball court as well.
Four and a half minutes left in the first half
one Miller brings it in the scrimmage area. Now it's
hamming off the little flare screen. They'll let the penetrate
(33:22):
pick it up. And almost threw it away, but Miller
did a good job of winning it back. Miller's mid
range jumper no good. Ligan knocked it up in the
air momentarily, but now out comes Marysville.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
CJ.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Collins pushed it into the scrimmagery. Nice job by Miller there.
How Collins per three and he got a tough shot.
Miller was all over him. And again the six or.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Fourth senior just rises up knocks it down. Uh yeah,
a shooter. They say, you know what, I'm gonna shoot her.
It's gonna fall. He missed five three, as we know,
he said a couple has it phased him a bit.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
Hamming out on the left point, drives hard to the
right hand, pulls up from about thirteen icily done.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
Andrew Hammond on the board.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Pushes the Chilicothee lead back to eight at twenty two
to fourteen. Back comes Colin plays off the ball screen.
I thought he was gonna pull it again.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Three there.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Now it's Brewer out on the left wing. He's guarded
by Cox.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
He guards or drives hard right hand spins back blocked
by Cox, out comes card te Liggan goes hard to
the right hand all the way to the rim, and
now he has it taken away.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
It's Collins, Collins outside barda over right side. Brewer.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Now Mary's bill settle into the half court offense. Chilicoffee
doing a pretty good job in their scrimmag Jerry defense
Here in the first high Brewer looking the size up
and go one on one with Cox. Cox won that
matchup on the previous possession with the block shot three
ball Collins, no good outcomes stone King. Cox has it
(34:59):
on the left.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
You know, patients.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Back alt Miller. He'll reset it now he wants to
go one on one. It's back to the left side.
Cox drives hard to the right hand in the middle,
shot up, no good rebound. Marysville twenty two to fourteen,
Chilacathee two point thirty remaining in the second quarter, all
the way to the rim. That's Crusoe. Out comes Cox
(35:25):
left side, stone King, he'll try a triple no good
rebound by Liggan, and Liggan as he once goes to
attack off the offensive rebound draws the blocking foul.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
I don't think Chilacathee on the board in the bonus.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Lefts it's going to be baseline underneath, and I think
we're going to have a Marysville time out.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
It's a short one. Let's keep it here. You know,
early on you you mentioned.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Greg there's there's a there's not a lot of hesitation,
and good shooters are going to take their shots. Didn't
fall for Marysville, but slowly but surely you start to
see a couple of these scores get going here.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Yeah there. I don't know if that's the way. They've
already shot ten three, So they're obviously a team that
looks to they don't bother them at all to put
up to three. Uh, and they do it often, particularly
Collins on the other side of the Can you know
that they were they shot fifty five percent has slowed
down a little bit. Caden Cox, all those moves he
(36:20):
made down the other night at Warren where he was
going down the lane off balance, laying them in. They
all went in tonight they're not going in. But but
he's attacking da basket. And as you said, stone King's
had the hot hand. Mary's Will's called two timeouts. I
got a feeling. The coach said, you know what, we
better We got to keep a guy on thirteen because
he's killing us. And so they've done a little better
job keeping on Cooper right now. Yeah, Cox just has
(36:42):
to stay aggressive.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
He easily could have shot four to six free throws
already and just he's got to play through some of
that contact. They go to Cox off the ob under
and he thrives to throw a diagonal. One's picked off.
Out comes Marysville with it. It's coil out top give
his way to Collins. How Collins comes off of a
couple ball screens on the pop. It's barlow. Now it's
coil in the middle. Guy away maybe some steps, but
(37:04):
it's taken away by stone Can. Now he'll pull it
back out. Now a little stop and go move actually,
and he gets to his runner and he's gonna be
called for a charge. He tried to shoot a little floater.
Greg and as he followed through, the defender was set.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
And when Cooper gets going and he can get blazing hot,
and he's shown that when he gets going good, sometimes
he gets going fast. And that time he was moving
a little bit two fast, got himself open, but he
was going so fast he couldn't get stopped. And they're
gonna take him out after you picked up the offensive foul.
And this is the first time in for was that
(37:42):
Hitchins to Victor. Hitchin's gonna come in and we haven't
seen Victor at all this year, and hardy Victor could
really help him. Hear some on ball defense. It's Collins
into the middle again. Miller's done a great job on him.
Back out top, he'll be Collins once again. Miller trying
to keep him over there on that left side. College
(38:03):
bullies his way into the middle and as he pulls up,
no shot. It's before the shot went up going to
be called. I think they got Miller as hard as
he's guarded him. I think that's just his first file,
isn't I tell you other He's he's up into Collins
and they're letting them bump.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
That time he called for the foul Obie under for Marysville.
They get it in there, Collins on the fade away
no good. Miller comes out with it as a transition opportunity,
goes into the middle and he lost and loose ball.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
Both teams go to the floor. It's like we're going
to have a.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
Jump ball.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Possession arrow. From where we're sitting up here, we can.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
You see college guys, good NBA guys. Sometimes you're score,
you see the basket, you're taking it to the hole.
But from up here was easy. One was wound up
one on three and it wasn't a good butt. I understand.
It just end up not being a good choice, and
he fortunately tied it up and they get the ball back.
It's been twenty two to fourteen for a long time.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
It has Cox has it out top, goes down left
corner to him and he's gonna drive baseline cutoff. Now
double teams steps through. The double team shot up No good.
Pitcheons with an offensive rebound effort and I think they
say he touched it last is what they're going to say.
So it's going to be Mary'sville ball. We have fifty
eight seconds remaining in the first half, twenty two fourteen, chilicoffe.
(39:35):
Now they're going to switch that up and go Cox
over on Collins. Collins pulls up shot, No good outcomes,
Chila coffee. Let's see if they hold for the last shot.
Cox is gonna hold it out here, and let's see
how much Marysville will resist them.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Wanting to hold it.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Here for the last shot. It was over forty seconds,
so let's se if they can hold it right now,
Mary's will is not coming out and mary's villem I
feel like, you know a lot, as poorly as we've shot,
We're glad to be down my aid. But Calves are
happy to take the last shot. From forty some seconds
down to twenty three. Cox has it all the way out,
just shy of half court. County stone King not in there.
(40:15):
Probably Hitchin's not gonna shoot. You would think they're going
to look for Miller or Hammond.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Seven seconds, Cox is gonna go and shoot the step
back three.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
No good.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
Hammond's knocks it away, but it's going to go out
of bounds. And with point nine seconds, well he was
it in terms of that matchup. He really belt him out,
had a chance to get down hill want and Marysville
with point nine seconds, I'm gonna throw it in and
just go ahead and accept half time. We've come to
the half here at Marysville High School. Chillicothee leads it
(40:46):
twenty two fourteen. Shane Holmes, great, bigem take quick time out.

(44:23):
first quarter, but will you Calves hang on and they're
still up eight at halftime? Well, I wouldn't ask you that.
I you know, I didn't know what to make of
the second quarter.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
I think if you're Chillicothee, you come on the road,
you're up fourteen fourteen in the first quarter, up twenty
two to fourteen and a half.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
You obviously feel good about the way you defended, but
Is it fair.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
To say that chilicoffee maybe goes to the locker room
feeling like they left a little bit out there on
the offensive end in that second quarter.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
Yes, I think so, and give Mary'svielle credit. They probably
made it well. Number one, they found out if Cooper
Stonekin couldn't miss, he was hitting threes, he was taking
it to the whole being patient, fighting his openings, and
they had a little bit of a ju kept a
little better job of helpside and not letting Cooper go
one on one, so that slowed our offense down. Obviously,
(45:08):
Caden Cox, they've had an eye on him. He's had
a little problem an early layup. But I thought they
might have left a little bit. But I guess you know,
when the offense fields, you've played good defense, and you've
mentioned it several times. Defensively, the Calves have done a
great job. They're quick enough against the height, the slender, tall,
long height of Marysville, but the Calves are quicker and
(45:30):
they've been able to stay between the man and the basket,
and almost every shot from Marysville has been contested. I
totally agree, you know. CJ.
Speaker 1 (45:37):
Collins six to four Senior point guard Van Miller obviously
giving up quite a bit there at by ten, but
Wan's ability to really move the feet and on every crossover,
every spin able to really cut him off and keep
him in front. You know, Collins does have half of
their points with seven, but I know you highlighted in
some of your numbers that he really got turned into
(45:58):
a volume shooter. Had to take a lot of shots
to get those seven and then real quick before we
go over to grag for numbers. On the ChIL coffee side,
we mentioned Cooper stone King's hot hand. He had twelve
of his game high fifteen points so far there in
that opening quarter. He's knocked down two triples. One Miller
made a three pointer. Let's see Andrew Hammond has two,
(46:19):
Daniel Sism has two. So again cad and Cox shut
out there in the first half, yet you still lead
by eight. That's certainly a positive that you got to
feel it's like it's gonna go Chilicothee's way in the
second half.
Speaker 2 (46:29):
I would think. So I think I mentioned I thought
Cox had that lay up. If you're right, that was
Sissamon had the lay up on the past. So Cayden
Cox with twenty eight to the other Knights corless here
in the first half, turnovers good each team four turnovers
from the foul line. The Cavs won out of one
and Mary's zill over two, so neither team's been on
to the free throw line a lot there in the
first half. The big numbers come from the three point line.
(46:51):
Chilicothe three for eight from the three point line thirty
seven percent and Marysville two out of ten, and the
Collins has only hit one. Even he's put up about seven,
but as a team they're two out of ten twenty
percent uh from the three point line for Marysville overall,
the Calves shot fifty four percent in the first quarter.
That slowed down in the second, but they still finished
(47:13):
nine and twenty one for forty three percent from the floor. Marysville, again,
they've only taken let's see ten almost all their field
goal attempts have been from the three point line. Half
their attempts, so their twenty one have been from the
three point line ten out of the twenty one, so
they're six of twenty one. Overall, they're only shooting twenty
(47:36):
eight percent. They're only shooting twenty percent from the three
point line and they're over two from the foul line,
so you got to be writ in the second half
that you hope Marysville stays cold, and again certainly a
part of that is the cap of their defense.
Speaker 1 (47:50):
Well, and the other thing to watch you you mentioned
that they are early in the first quarter. I'll be
interested if Marysville turns the tempo up a little bit.
They're having so much trouble against the Chili coffee half
court defense. We've watched them pick up in some token
man demand. Let's see maybe if a run and run
in person back at the ball and try to create
something in that way.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
But so far, so good.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
A ChIL Coffee coming under three minutes here at halftime,
Chilicoffee leads at twenty two to fourteen. Let's take a

For over fifty years, the Howler family has been here

as unique. How her funeral home helping families remember, share

Speaker 1 (50:30):
Welcome back, Marysville is going to have the basketball as
we get underway here in the third quarter, they'll just
side out of bounds and they'll toss it into the
back court. And now they're into the scrimmage area. Collins
Force is up a three. I think he tried to
draw a file, but Miller just did a good job
of being disciplined it and touching. Out comes Chilicoffee with
the rebound. Stone King right side, He'll drive middle, shot
(50:53):
fake steps through, shot up, no good off the front
of the rim.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
Out comes Marysville with a rebound. Collins has it on.
Speaker 2 (51:01):
The right wing.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
Wanted Graves on the cut down the middle, cut off
there by good Chili coothe help side defense back out top.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
Now it's over the left side. This is Atkins. He'll
go borlow over in the right wing. Now they'll reverse it.
Speaker 1 (51:16):
All the way around. It's Collins from the left wing.
Three ball good twenty two seventeen. Chili Coothy's lead trimmed
to five as Collins opens the scoring here in the
second half with a three pointer. Stone King goes over
right side to Miller. About through the way. Miller will
(51:37):
drive into the middle. Nothing there, lobs it back.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
Out to Cocks.
Speaker 1 (51:41):
Chili Coothy standing a little bit here on some of
these opening possessions here. Got to get back to that
good patient and that good movement we've had in the
first half. Miller tried to drive middle. He'll pull up
on the mid range jumper. No good out comes. Marysville
throws it all the way ahead, Chili Cooty slow to
get back, and Atkins lays it in twenty two to nineteen.
(52:03):
Coach Beard doesn't like the lack of energy at all
out of the locker room here, and he's gonna call
a time out.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
It's gonna be a short one.
Speaker 1 (52:09):
Greg, we'll stay here, obviously, Coach Beard sensing a little
bit of what I was talking about there, just a
kind of a lackluster start for the Cows.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
He's he's fired up, and then he needs to be
right now. He's just I think the big thing there
is that both those shots were kind of a lot
of contact. When Cooper shot his in the lane, same
with one. They both missed. But what he was upset
about is we didn't get down the floor. We let
Mary's fille beat him down the floor and get a
couple of easy shots. So the three was an easy,
(52:38):
pretty easy look for Collins, and then that was an
easy left because we didn't get back. So that's what
he's wound up about.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
Yet, Brendon Akins ran out ahead of the Chilicothe defense.
I'd say he was ten feet ahead of any Blue
Jersey so certainly not the effort that we're used to
sing from this Chillicothe team twenty two to nineteen. Chilliicoffi's
still out in front with the lead trimmed to three
and had been up by as many ten and now
only up by three. Miller come off a ball screen
(53:04):
from stone King. Now he'll flare off of a sism
screen and stone King's going to be trapped there on
the catch, steps through the trap and he throws it away.
Out comes Marysville. It's Brewer in the open court. A
little step through, shot up, No good out comes stone King.
Three on one opportunity for Chilicothee drops the bounce past
the badger and lays it in. Nicely done on the
(53:26):
on the fast break. Opportunity for the Calves. Give cam
badger the bucket. I come to Monarchs needed that with
Shane really did Brewer on.
Speaker 2 (53:36):
The right wing.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
He'll throw it to the corner and Collins now seen
two go through as he knocks down the corner. Three
and you can see where this CJ. Collins, the senior
point guard, could really get it going in a hurry.
He's got Chili Coothie's lead cut to two at twenty
four to twenty two Miller with a hard penetration, nice
pass inside the Badger.
Speaker 2 (53:56):
He lays it in.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
Nice job by the point guard Miller to set up
his teammate Badger twenty six twenty two or three minutes
into play here in the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (54:08):
Now it's out and they go. They'll swing it left corner.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
The three ball there by Akins is too strong rebound
silicif the outcome stone King gets into the mid range
a little stop and go move. Wanted to hit Cos
in the corner and got caught in the air and
through to what how come to Monarchs fast break opportunity
and a much better effort for the Chilli Coith.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
He transitioned defense, going to knock that ball out of bounds,
and again had had Lance stopped about eight foot in
the lane. He was opened for an eight foot and
tried to get on in and gott in heavy traffic
and head the ball stripped out of his hands, bob
it out top to Collins.
Speaker 1 (54:46):
He'll take an elbow jumper over top of Miller. No
good rebound, sizzle, nice rebound Daniel. Now Badger will just
kind of walking across the timeline Marysville has been up
in a little bit more pressure and looking at trap opportunities.
Speaker 2 (55:01):
Here exactly, I've been trying to try Miller's beating him twice.
That's how the Cavs will scored. SYSM gonna go to
a postman. Have ended up more of a mid range jumper.
No good out come the Monarchs inside. That's Graves, drops
it off to a cutting Brewer shot up. No good, SAYSM.
Speaker 1 (55:18):
With another rebound, golden opportunity for Marysville. He just missed
at point blank. Maybe get the ball to one. If
they're going to press, you see if he can beat
him again an end dish out top Cox. He backs
it out a little bit. Now he'll look to drive,
hands off the Miller. Miller hard drive to the right hand,
(55:42):
kicks it right wing the stone King. Now he'll try
a three on the step back. No good, good box
out for Marysville. Monarchs will take the basketball back Chilicathe
twenty six, twenty two, three forty four left third quarter.
Graves there at the elbow, back out the Brewer. Now
it's Collins. Good ball movement from Marysville on the drive,
(56:04):
that was Graves, and he's going to get bumped by
sism by Daniels.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
Daniels had times where he's been beating people up underneath
the bucket. Twice he's like barely bumped a guy on
helpside and got CAFs of fount You're right.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
Box sat on the ob under It's going to be
Collins there in the corner. Good job again by the
Chillicothe defense to run him off the line. And then
on the drive Graves just runs Miller over. No call
either way and he just goes out and lays it
in twenty six, twenty four Chilicothe official time out and
I think we have the wet spot there where the
(56:41):
de vender was knocked to the floor, So they're going
to get a towel there.
Speaker 2 (56:50):
First piration on the floor and there this was going
to get a towel out.
Speaker 1 (57:00):
Twenty six, twenty four Chila Coffee, three seventeen, third quarter.
The Monarchs have come out of the locker room with
much more energy than in the first half, and Chilicothe's
got to respond.
Speaker 2 (57:11):
Here getting with Colins. He's giving it up there. They're
doing more where Collins is going through and then coming
to the corner and getting a pick to try to
free him up to those three, but the captain struggled
offensive not gotten a lot of good shots. There's a
good one, a badger off of the hand off there.
He just drives right down the middle and lays it
in Bager with six here in the third quarter. Six
(57:34):
in the game twenty eight to twenty four. Chili coffee.
That comes Marysville. Sysm cuts off Gray.
Speaker 1 (57:42):
Now it's it's a barlow for the deep three, Saysm
with another rebound. Stone King wanted to drive. Now he'll
pull it back out giveaway to Miller. Miller might have
got away with a walk. Comes right side the badger.
He drives hard to the baseline and he's going to
draw the blocking fouls. He had a had a step
that looked like I think that's Actins. They got on
(58:04):
the on the foul and number.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
Twelve, I believe twelve of the found Brendon Atkins. They
we're going to allow until Batcher was around him and
then he bumped it out.
Speaker 1 (58:16):
Great screen from Sism got Miller to the rim, but
he's unable to finish over that size that Greg's talked
about throughout the evening.
Speaker 2 (58:24):
How comes Mary'sville?
Speaker 1 (58:25):
Look out Collins pulls up off the ball screen for
a three. No good offensive rebound for Atkins.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
And throws it over.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
And I think it's a good job of the official
coming in from half court that what had happened was
you had Brewer looking to have.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
The offensive put back there.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
Chilkathie defender comes from behind, got the hen on the
ball and it certainly rested there for about a second
and they waved the shot off and they go jump ball,
which is going to go back to Chilicithe.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
Twenty eight to twenty four.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Two minutes to play in the third quarter, Miller brings
it into the scrimmage area, hand off the cos Cox
out stone King. Stone King drives hard, a little runner
off the glass and good. Stone King had fifteen in
the first half. That's his first bucket here in the
(59:20):
third quarter, thirty twenty four. Chilkafee high ball screen for Collins.
He's now on scism who switched off of it. Baseline
official with a whistle, looks like we might have a
hold away from the ball.
Speaker 2 (59:39):
Turned out to be a good thing of it. Collins
hit that three. But before that I might have been
on one. Miller he was down. He was getting posted
up down under it and trying to fight that.
Speaker 1 (59:49):
Around, pick up the fountains away from the basketball, hamm
and inners for sism. Collins cuts there off the ob
under and just got way too deep and shoots it
over the top of of Miller. Thirty twenty six, Chilicothee
League cut four Cox out on the right wing, guarded closely.
(01:00:10):
They're now out stone King. Stone King's had the hot
hand here this evening. He's going to try a deep
three too strong rebound. Marysville out comes Akins, kicks it
all the way right wing.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
CJ. Collins really starting to fill it here. Three ball.
He's got eleven in the quarter eighteen on the night.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
Thirty twenty nine, Chiliicothie League cut the one one minute
to play in the third quarter, stone King left corner
of Hammond back to stone King. Stone King looks to
drive hard to the right hand of the middle shot
fake steps through a little scoop up on the rim.
Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
No good out comes Collins and Marysville. I don't believe
the Manarks have led the entire down under not they
could take the lead for the first time. Collins tried
to create his own three. No good. Now it's actings
on the baseline.
Speaker 1 (01:01:08):
Drive kicks it out to a wide open col Brewer
who knocks down to three, and just like that, Marysville
with their first advantage of the night, thirty two to thirty,
fifteen seconds to play. Here in the quarter, Miller brings
it into the scrimmage area, now has ten to shoot.
(01:01:28):
Miller pulls up for adep two. No good out comes
Marysville with the rebound cross half court, collins at the
volleyball line and it's in and out. Well, we've come
to the end of the third quarter. Is a big,
big search for the home team here as Marysville now
leads Chili Cooffee thirty two to thirty. Stay with us

N colmbs, Greg Bigham here on fourteen ninety wb X
Philakathy Marysville will have possession and a two point lead
to start the fourth and final quarter. It's Brewer out top.
It's over to the left side of the graves guarded
by Hamm and how he'll look to drive kicks it
into the left corner and that is Zach Barlow for
(01:03:24):
three and he knocks it down and just like that,
Mary'sville push it to five.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Right, they were two out of ten in the first half,
add that one. They are now five of ten from
the three point line in the second olf. That's been
a big difference. Cabs were only three out of eleven
in that quarter. It only scort six points. I believe, right, eight,
I believe. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
Now it's badger on the drive. He'll get all the
way to the rim. Had to point blank layup and
just too strong off the off the glass. Marysville out
into the open quarter to two on one opportunity and
Actins will lay it in and time out. Coach Beard
thirty seven thirty. You know, Greg, we'll stay here to
just try to make sense of this. You could, you
(01:04:06):
could fill it in my opinion. In the first two
minutes of that third quarter, Marysville came out with a
whole different level of energy. I was telling you I
felt like Chill Coughy left a little bit of offense
on the table there in the second quarter, and now
Marysville has just spurted out. It's thirty seven thirty. Still time,
Chill Coughey's really got a weather's storm here.
Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
Well, I can present it from either side. On the
Marysville side they have hit three of their last four threes,
and on the other side, Marysville has made three out
of their last three two point shots. Now, so you say, hey,
Marysville's hot. But sitting here, Shane, you got to realize
watching the game, their looks from the three point line
(01:04:47):
and layups a couple of them fast break have been
so much more uncontested than they were in the first half.
So is that a matter of defense? Maybe beating us down?
Their energy is picked up and therefore it's great movement
and their shots have just been more uncontested. The first
st half. All those shots were contested by the cab.
You know they're shooting lights out lately, but it's because
(01:05:08):
they're really getting excellent looks at the book. I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
Out of the time out Chilokoffee possession again, down seven, Meler,
a call for the ball screen from stone King. Nothing
really there now, Chilokofi will reset again. Miller comes right side.
It's Cox, He'll pull up on a.
Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
Mid range jumper. No good rebound. Brewer of Marysville, No
really good luck Kayden, who hit every one of those
the other night. He just can't get it to fall tonight.
That was his best look to then of a Cox, Brewer.
Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
Of top Collins.
Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
Now back over to Brewer. Brewer looked to drive hard,
kicks it over Barlow. Now it's Graves. Now it's Collins
in the corner, and he knocks down a triple in
the hot shooting of the Monarchs here in the second
half continues forty to thirty. Mary's vill has opened us
up to a one point advantage. Right side, it's Hammond.
(01:06:08):
It has been like an eighteen point swinging a matter
of moments. It seems like we were cabs were up eighty,
the other down ten. What in the world hit them?
Stone King left corner to Hammond out, it's out top
Stone can chelicafee and struggling to find any space here
on the offensive end, Cox left side ham and drives
(01:06:32):
to the middle step through shot up and he's gonna
get Belt out with a foul. But for at least
Andrew Hammond, we'll get to go to the free throw long.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
Forty to thirty. Yeah, shame, there's Bill Leads. It doesn't matter.
Kind of some sports have more momentum than others, but
all of them have momentum. And all of a sudden,
you make those ham and shoots the free throw me,
you make five out of six shots, a couple of
fast breaks, banks, and threes. All of a sudden, your
defense gets better, right he does.
Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
First half, the ball wasn't going in. Marysville's energy was down.
The second half all goes in and they just look
like a completely different team. Absolutely, any sport can be
like avery Man. Mary'sville looks like their energy is just
on a whole different level. On the second half, Hammon
makes good on both free throws, cuts the lead of
Marysville to forty thirty two. Now Kylin's back on the
other end. Three ball, no good, rebound, badger out comes
(01:07:28):
stone King. He'll look the push.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
That's the first three Marysville's missed a long time. They
had hit four out of their last five. Stone King
hands it off. The miller runs all the way through.
Now they'll hit stone King over on the right wing.
Three no good.
Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
Cox with the offensive rebound, shot up, No good. Stone
King with the offensive rebound, step through shot up, no good.
Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
I think we've got a foul on the floor and it's.
Speaker 1 (01:07:53):
Gonna go against the monarch, so it's gonna be chilikafee
ball there on the baseline. Good effort on the offensive
glass from the Calves get the ball to go in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
The Cavs hit three out of their first six threes,
and since then they're zero for five from the three
point line. The part of that is there again, they're contested,
not getting a lot of good looks on the three
point line. All the way out top.
Speaker 1 (01:08:16):
It's Miller now, it's right corner, it's hamming. His three
ball is good and that's a big lift. Andrew Hammond
with five in the quarter, he's cut the Marysville lead
to five. And in the back court, Miller trying to
draw the offensive file is going to get called for
the block.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
That could have gone either way. I do think Shanethan
is the new rule of I don't want to say flopping,
Well that's what it is. It's a flopping rule or
whatever are there. It's almost made the call go overboard
the other way. Any kind of yeah, where you take
a charge rning like that, it's it's tough to get
that and I don't mind that. Sure, four forty left
(01:08:53):
in the ball game.
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
Forty thirty five, Marysville on top, and they have the basketball.
It's Collin's over on the right wing, guarded by Miller.
He'll look to back him into the mid range game.
He'll shoot the all. He's gonna shoot the fade away.
Now he steps through a nice little lean and CJ.
Collins is really having a night. Push knocks down the
little leaning jumper, pushes the lead back to seven.
Speaker 3 (01:09:15):
Forty two to thirty five for Marysville. Back comes Chilicothee.
Speaker 1 (01:09:20):
It's Haman on the right wing. Bounce pass into the
corner to stone King. Stone King pushing the dribble up
to the wing.
Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
Now hits Cox down on the block.
Speaker 1 (01:09:28):
Cox will will circle his way into the middle and
lay it in. But they're gonna call foul on the
floor way before that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
And Cox is how vake it. I don't need to
call this time. Was thinking, you know what, that was
my best move on an easy land. I didn't need
to foul Aft.
Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
We're gonna have a time out clear on the other
end of the floor from Marysville. It's gonna be a
full time out. We'll take it with him. Marysville forty
two Chili Coffee thirty five, It'll be Chili Cooffee basketball

chili coffee with an ob under throws it out top
and al Cox will go and.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Get it back.
Speaker 1 (01:11:12):
Cox and Badger played a little two man game. Badger
has it down low and he lost it out. Come
to Monarchs. It's Collins thought about some transition opportunity, but
up seven with the basketball in under four minutes because
head backs it back out takes a clog.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
Cam got a double team. He might have got fouled,
but he wind up being a turnover. Caavis needed a
bucketo Collins left side a little step back three.
Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Miller again continues to work hard defensively. Three point are
no good and Chilicofee unable to secure the defensive rebound,
going to knock it out of bounds and with three
point thirty two left in the game, down three possessions,
here forty two to thirty five Marysville basketball drop it
inside Brewer. Brewer curls into the middle and I think
(01:11:57):
they're going to call an offensive foules and he wrapped
around me.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
He hooked him.
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
I'll certainly take it if you're Chilli Coithe three twenty
nine to play.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
It's gonna wave off the basket. Chilicothee has it in
the full.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
Court token pressure from the Monarchs s Miller pushes it
up across half court into the scrimmage area. It's left side,
hamming out top Stone King. He's going to try a
three too strong offensive rebound by Badger and he lays
it in cam Badger having a nice second half. He
has all eight of us points here in the second half,
cuts the lead back to five forty two thirty seven.
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
Out Top.
Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
It's Akins, over to Barlow. Now it's Collins.
Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Marysville really starting to think about that clock a little bit,
showing you a little bit more patience here.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
Out Top Barlow. Now back to Collins.
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
He'll look to go one on one against Miller our
top Brewer. Now it's great. He gets all the way
to the block, pull up jumper too strong, and again
Chili Cooffee unable to wrap up the rebound. Marysville pushes
it back out top ale it's Collins on the drive.
He spends the middle, shot up and got it again CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
Collins.
Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
But all made possible because Chilicothee, Greg continuing to struggle
on the defensive.
Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
Glass Yeah, and got a good defense. He've stop and
couldn't get the rebounds.
Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
Miller now Hammon right side Cox, He'll go hard to
his left hand of the middle, gets all the way
to the rim, places through contact, no call, but he
lays it in anyway. Cayden Cox on the board. Now
he has two lead back to five. Alex Akins on
the drive and he lays it in, driving past Stone
King Brendan Atkins. Six on the night pushes the lead
(01:13:51):
back to forty six thirty nine, one one remaining in
the game. Chilicothee down seven, Miller for three. He got
it on a little step back three much needed forty
six forty two, and I have a time out.
Speaker 2 (01:14:05):
Chilli Coffee.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
We'll stay here and kind of get the fans reset.
So that three ball for Miller.
Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
Gray cuts it back to forty six forty two, still
at one forty six. Plenty of times I don't feel
like Chilla Coffee's played some bad defense over the last
two or three minutes. But I can think of three
possessions where they failed to wrap it up with a
defensive rebound.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
And you have to have more quickness now you've been trailing.
When Marysville went on that run where Chill Coffee was up,
the league got cut down and all of a sudden
they found themselves down ten. So systems out of the game,
and it takes away one of your rebounders. But a
couple of those they just didn't react to the to
the ball, and again those are at this point, they're
huge somehow. Really to give them credit that they they've
(01:14:44):
got themselves within four even though things didn't go well
in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
You know, I think Marysville's in this situation that Chilli
Coffee was in late the other night where I've always
felt like I see certain teams take the air out
of the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
I call it too early.
Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
If Marysville here is going to look, I really feel
like Chili Coffee can ramp up some of the defense here,
possibly get a turnover and get an easy one off
of your defense.
Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
I agree. I think that's an age old thing for teams.
When do you take the air out too soon quit
being aggressive, and they are in that still up four
with the basketball. However, in monarchs, all turnover.
Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
Just as we said, the pressure calls is the loose ball,
and now a turnover in the back court out comes Chilicoffee.
Badger drives it harder the rim, good jump stop and
he lays it in. Badger into double figures.
Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
He has ten.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
The lead is just now two for Marysville forty six,
forty four, still one twenty remaining.
Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
Brewer right side.
Speaker 1 (01:15:38):
It's Atkins, He's guarded by Cox. He drives hard to
the middle, left corner, three ball and Barlow burries. If
the senior left the big shot there. Back to the
five point lead. Forty nine, forty four. We're up on
one minute remaining. It's Cox on the right now at
(01:16:00):
the stone King. Stone King drives hard to the left hand.
He went and he just lost it and it goes
out of bounds. It's gonna go back to Marysville. Time out,
Chilicothe let's see if they're going to take the short
winter along. They're checking to see what they got. Hey,
they're going to go full. We'll take it with them.
It's Mary'sville forty nine. ChIL coffee forty four fifty two
(01:16:24):
seconds remaining.
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
We'll be back.
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
You're listening to Chili Coffee Boys basketball on WBX Chilicothe.
Speaker 11 (01:16:30):
You never know if the person next to you in
line is a McMuffin, a mcgriddle's biscuit, or burtal person.
But what you do know is that every last one
of us in line where our McDonald's breakfast this morning.
We're brave enough to get out of bed a few
minutes early.
Speaker 12 (01:16:45):
Right now, get a two dollar breakfast sandwich like a bacon,
egg and cheese biscuit, a sausage McMuffin with egg only
in the app offer valley, one time per day from
seven twenty nine to nine one twenty four, participate in
McDonald's must stop into rewards.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
Well know I was gonna say. We fought back, led
the whole game, fell behind by ten points early in
the fourth quarter, fought back. We were within two, the
Cavs within two, and what a huge three. We did
a good job on Collins always killed us. But all
of a sudden, the other guy in the corner, Hey
give him credit because you didn't want to let Collins
hurt you, and he hits the three that was huge.
Speaker 1 (01:17:21):
Yeah, Barla had been scoreless all night. He's hit two
triples here in the fourth quarter. Yeah, I hit the
lefty stuffed up those two big threes. All of a sudden,
they get back up. Mary's wield by five with the ball.
Chill Coffee gonna apply some full court pressure looking the
trap here in the back court Marysville. Pretty good spacing
breaks the pressure across the timeline. With forty seconds in
(01:17:42):
counting and up five, they're gonna look to just hold
it and ChIL Coffee is gonna have to foul.
Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
Yeah, I believe that's only the second team foul, so
they're gonna have to file a couple more times. Were
down to thirty eight seconds.
Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Forty nine, forty four, thirty eight point six. ChIL Coffee,
he's got plenty to give his great They can be
really aggressive here, maybe knock the ball loose, and they
were about to the three or four count of that
five count. We have a time out on the Marysville sites.
We'll stay here this time and kill Greg You you
mentioned it with a new quarter bonus. You see this
more and more here early in the year, where teams
(01:18:16):
are behind. Now it's time to foul. But you're only
at one or two team fousand, you've got to start
to take them quick here.
Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
Certainly change some of the strategy.
Speaker 2 (01:18:24):
It has, I believe you again last year and you
know the five foules per quarter, and you know one
and one you go straight to the two shot bonus,
but not till five thousand. It's done each quarter. And actually,
just what Jane said, it has changed a lot of
late game strategy. It makes a difference now. Soil copies
happening to foul as soon as they can down by five,
(01:18:44):
and they need to get mary Field to the foul line.
They're gonna have to a couple more times.
Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
You also got to watch individual files here because they
start to add up when you're trying to give them.
Marysville baseline underneath great sealback from Graves and Stone came
fousing from behind, really well executed by the Monarchs.
Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
It was Owen Graves, the six Ford junior.
Speaker 1 (01:19:05):
He just steals right back to the basketball and is
all by himself and chun coffee fouls.
Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
I believe the Calves are three for three. I got
Marysville oh for two from the file line. There's only
been five thousand, that's all I got. Yeah, and Marysville
oh for two that was in the first down free
throw no good, yep, and now oh for three from
mary's Ville from the final on only first the other
night to Calves the nine of nineteen hurt.
Speaker 1 (01:19:32):
Emily takes that second one, fifty forty four, still two
possession game. Miller's got to push it in a hurry
here only thirty seconds stone King deep three from the top,
No good. Badger fights for the rebound and Marysville comes
out with it, and we're gonna have a foul in
the back court from Badger. Stone King had a pretty
good look out of to cut the lead in the half,
(01:19:53):
unable to knock it down. So fifty forty four again,
that was just a common foul. So it's gonna be
Marysville ball.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Uh, they will shoot.
Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
Two shots on every file from here on out. Chilicothee
in full court denial.
Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
They go to Graves. I thought Chilicothe tried to file
it and call it. Yeah, don't file this guy.
Speaker 1 (01:20:11):
Now they file here in the back court and uh,
that's Barlow going to go to the line.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Greg. I think Chilicothe tried to file the kid on
the first catch and to sit and call it. Chilicothe
five of fifteen from the three point line not horrible,
thirty three percent, and they do foul Barlow and send
him to the line nineteen point six here.
Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
Barlow makes good on that first one, and that that
is going to make it tough now because that pushes
at the seven Chilicothee down three possessions. Barlow will get
a second shot up and it rims in for Barlow.
Speaker 2 (01:20:54):
He has eight in the quarter fifty two forty four.
Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
Marysville out in front chilicif he turns it over on
the other end, and the Monarchs are just going to
go across the timeline and talk it under the arm
from there and all Monarchs here in the second half
and there, and they're going to come from behind here
at halftime to beat Chilikafee fifty two to forty four.
Stay with us, Shane Colins, Greg Bighem, we'll be back

Welcome back Shane Colms Greg Bigham up in Marysville High
School This sevening for Chillicothee Boys basketball Here on fourteen
ninety WBX over in the aMCI ninety two point seven
FM worldwide on iHeart Radio. And you know, Greg, you
take a look at chilicoffee on the wrong side of
a fifty two to forty four final score, and the
(01:24:53):
night started far more promising. Look back at my notes here,
a chill cooffee scored the first nine points of the game.
They let at fourteen to four at the end of
the first quarter. They led it twenty two to fourteen
at halftime. But I said it to you then, and
I go back to I go back to my point.
Speaker 6 (01:25:09):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:25:10):
It's just I felt I felt kind of like they
let an opportunity to get away, to really bust this
thing open there in the second quarter. And you know,
Marysville just came out of the of the locker room
and basically just got the hot hand and just completely
went off on the offensive end. CJ Collins there, terrific
U six fourth senior point guard, can really create his
(01:25:30):
own shot. Van Miller you've given up about five inches,
did a super job on him in the first half,
only seven points, but I had him unofficially for twenty
five by night's in with five three pointers and just
a terrific player, super super talent there. So by the
end of the third quarter, Marysville had had taken the
thirty two to thirty advantage and they had opened it
(01:25:51):
up a little bit more. Andrew Hammond with a with
a nice little spurt there in the fourth quarter early
to get Chilicothee to cut the lead in half. I
think Chila Coffee got all the way within two a
couple of times, but then defending down four and five,
unable to maybe wrap up the defensive board and and
uh uh the big big three from Zach Barlow looks
(01:26:11):
like that's the one that was the dagger that pushes
it back to five when they had it to two.
And then you know, like I said, they make some
free through that second quarter. Again, Uh, looking back at
that second quarter, the opportunity for Chilicoffe made to bust
(01:26:34):
it open a little bit unable to do so. Uh,
you could tell that Mary's been really really took advantage
of that.
Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Coming out of the locker room. Yeah, we we we
didn't have a lot of energy there and but we
we still took all the shot the ball so well
the first half, Cooper stone King was rather hot. You're
probably not gonna shoot it that well the whole time.
But uh, Marysville started out zero for five for the
three point line. Then they went two of five in
(01:27:00):
the second quarter. They wound up really hot in a
second half, but they got some momentum. But then at
your point being that we still had an eight point
lead at halftime, but maybe it could have been twelve
or fourteen. And then you can withstand because Marysville come
out in the third quarter. Coach Beard called a quick
time out, wasn't happy with the energy, called time out
there in the first ninety seconds, and Marysville just came out,
(01:27:23):
and as we said, they hit some shots. All of
a sudden, their defensive energy got a lot better because
they were hitting shots, and they went from eight down
to eventually ten up. There was an eighteen point swing,
and I don't know the top of my head, maybe
late in the third quarter, early in the fourth, or
mostly that third quarter was an eighteen point swing, and
Calfs came back within two and as you said, we
(01:27:44):
couldn't get back even on the scoring side.
Speaker 1 (01:27:47):
I already mentioned CJ. Collins with twenty five to lead
the Monarchs. Let's take a look at some Chilicothee scorning
cooperstone King had fifteen at halftime, finishes the game with
a team high seventeen. It was six for one Miller's
he hit two three. Victor Hitchins played some minutes tonight,
did not score. Cayden Cox, coming off twenty eight point
career high, only had two tonight. Andrew Hammond was seven,
(01:28:10):
cam Badger ten all in the second half. Carte Ligan
played some minutes there, did not score, and then Daniel
Sissm with two. That adds up to the forty four
for the Chilicothe Cavaliers. What's the numbers say on your
end there, Greg, Well, a lot of numbers here.
Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
Let's go to Marysville first, As we said, they shot
twenty eight and a half percent in the first half.
They only were two of ten from the three point line.
But you get to the end of the game, they
shoot forty three percent and they wound up shooting the
nine of twenty three from the three point line. So
they shoot thirty nine percent from the three point line,
(01:28:46):
and subtract that two for ten, they were seven of
thirteen from the three point line, so they shot over
fifty percent from the three point line, just a lot
more than three point shots were uncontested, and then Collins,
you know, their leading scorer got hot as well, but
they certainly shot to three much better. They wind up
shooting forty three percent. Marysville was six turnovers all I
had him four only had the Cavs with nine turnovers.
(01:29:10):
By the way, Marysville was three of six in the
foul line. Fort Chilicothe three for three from the foulne
only got to three to the Chernigis trime three times tonight.
They wind up the game eighteen of forty five for
forty percent, and they wind up five of fifteen from
the three point line at thirty three percent. We said
three of three from the foul line with the nine turnovers,
(01:29:31):
so the Calves at halftime they were nine of twenty one.
So the second half they went nine out of twenty four.
So they still made some shots. I thought Cam, I
thought one Miller hit a couple of big buckets. Cam
Badger was a big lift in the second half, pen
all the second When he can step up and score,
(01:29:51):
it helps out as well. And Andrew Hammond had a
couple of buckets, so they had pretty good balance. Obviously
Cox didn't have his night, but it's not going to
and they got the kind of team Shane. It doesn't
have to be the same guy every night. And tonight
some other guy stuffed up stone King was red hot.
He led him with that big first half. But you know,
as I look back, I'm trying to my brain think
(01:30:13):
how did how did we get out scored by eighteen
in that span of time, And I don't. I can't
think of a million turnovers. I can't think of a
horrible four shots. Maybe the I guess the biggest thing
is sticks in my brain. I'd be curious what you
recall and doing it was they shot the bow well,
(01:30:34):
they had they had two or three, They had a
couple offensive rebounds, they had a couple where they broke
away and got a layup, beating us down the floor.
And then they got hot, particularly Collins. They hit something
like three out of four threes there. And it was
that spurt. And so maybe it's a little more on
the defense not getting back in transition that allowed that,
(01:30:55):
But I can't. It wasn't like a bunch of turnovers
and all of a sudden we took a lot of
bad shots. I don't call that. Marysfield just got going
and maybe it was more of a defensive lapse and
they were able to And again I didn't watch a
Maybe give Marysville credit. Maybe at halftime they changed something.
I didn't notice it necessarily. I think they changed getting
Collins shots off of a pick where they would run
(01:31:17):
him through, bringing him back to the corner rather than
have him go one on one and force the three.
They did that a little bit, but I don't know
how much change they made have made a difference, but man,
I don't Again, it's hard for me to recall one
specific thing of going from eight up to down by ten.
Speaker 3 (01:31:33):
I agree with everything you're saying. They played with more energy.
Speaker 1 (01:31:37):
They might have thrown a little trap here in the
early third quarter, but I mean nothing that was causing
Chillicothee a bunch of problems. I think the CJ. Collins,
the point guard. I think in the first half, even
as he struggled from the floor, you could see the talent.
Speaker 3 (01:31:50):
You could see the ability to get his own shot.
Speaker 1 (01:31:52):
And when he started to see the ball going in
the third quarter, and I think, I said, Chilli, Cothy's
got to really grow from I thought it happened at
Warren to him the other night. Good teams are going
to make runs. Chili Coffee almost seemed shocked that Mary's
Bill came out in the second half and kind of
punched them in the mouth, so to speak, right, And
I think that's something that you as you grow with
a little bit more experience, you start to understand that's
(01:32:13):
coming and you understand how to react. To Chili Coothie's credit,
they didn't go away. They were there in the fourth quarter,
but that really needed to come into third quarter, and
I think they had been able to re establish themselves
and get out of here tonight. So he'll look last
question and closing, I guess i'd go back to what
I said in the pregame.
Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
Here you are. You're one in three.
Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
By the way, the Marysville improves the three and oh overall,
they're already one and oh in their conference, which is
the Capital Cardinal Division. They'll they'll they'll be at old
and Tangy Friday night, Chili Coffee one and three will
finally do two things. They'll finally play a league game,
and they'll finally put their home uniforms on and play
their Friday night at home as Hillsborough comes calling. I
(01:32:53):
guess I would go back to that pregame question in
terms of what we were wanting to see and and
and where we're at. You go into you know, you
feel like you could easily be three and one, two
and two for sure, but you're not. And you know,
if you're coach Beard, you just got to bring them
back to the practice floor. Still a lot to build
on as you go in fac play. Agree, Agreed, And
you know, Shane, what you just said. Maybe and you
(01:33:15):
asked me before the game what I want to see?
And I thought we made better decisions. I didn't think
there was a lot of forced offense.
Speaker 2 (01:33:20):
That's right. I liked a lot of that. I think
you just hit the point that all of a sudden
I liked as the fact that maybe, particularly these last
two games and somewhat at New Les, we're gonna we
I guess end up feel like we're the Cavalty. The
Calves I think are going to have to learn how
to answer runs. Yes, I think your point was excellent.
We haven't when the other teams made the run. It
(01:33:41):
happened in the fourth quarter against Warren We're up eight. Yeah,
it happened tonight in the third quarter. And I don't know. Mentally,
I don't know, body language wise, I don't know. But yeah,
some ways, somehow, you can't let a team go on
a run hard.
Speaker 3 (01:33:57):
To dominate a good team for thirty two minutes. They're
going to make runs at.
Speaker 2 (01:34:00):
You, all right, And we had Chillicothe is going to
need to work a little more on being able to
answer that team when they go on a run. We
having a team was on a run of four to
six points with what's happening to the cabs. The team's
going on at ten and eleven point run well.
Speaker 1 (01:34:15):
School night bus going and get out of here, long
bus ride. I don't think we'll get coach married up
here tonight. We'll see him this weekend. But appreciate everybody
hanging in there with us tonight for Nathan and all
the great effort back in studio for Greg Bigem. I'm
Shane Colmbs's final score for the final time mary's Ville
Beach Chilicothe fifty two to forty four. You've been listening
