Speaker 1 (00:04):
Would you like the
Lord to use you in life?
Happy to help somebody, happyto bless somebody?
I would.
I would like the Lord to use it.
I want to say I'm thankful forthe good preacher friends that
come to this meeting.
There's several here.
Last night there's been a bunchof preachers coming.
They don't have to come butwe're so glad they come.
It just does something for youto think that men of God that's
(00:28):
coming on is interested inworking each other and wants to
help each other.
Well, we're happy on our way toa better land.
Just twice in my life have Iever heard angels sing.
I was 19 years old when I heardthat Down by Pond Creek,
eastern Oklahoma outlaw countryDown there where Maul Barker put
a boy Floyd in there.
(00:48):
He hid the money in thatrobber's cave.
But you know, I was nineteen.
That's been a while.
One night, after fasting andpraying for a long while for a
meeting there at Pond Creek, weslowed down and had the window
down.
In the summertime we in thenight, eleven o'clock in them
outlaw hills they call them Iheard the greatest choir that a
human could ever hear.
I listened and listened.
(01:09):
I was a young man, unmarried atthe time.
I heard the angels sing.
Next night, same place in theroad, never told.
Nobody went down, summertime,no air conditioning.
Willis Carr heard the angelssing In that faraway land.
I heard the most sing in thatfaraway land.
I heard the most beautifulchoir that you ever heard sing.
They're going to have somegreat singing over there.
(01:31):
They're going to have somegreat singing over there.
From the book of Daniel, 9thchapter, and the first verse In
the first year of Darius, theson of Ahasuerus, of the seed of
Medes, which was made king overthe realm of the Chaldeans, in
the first year of his reign, I,daniel, understood by books the
numbers of the years whereof theword of the Lord came to
(01:53):
Jeremiah, the prophet that hewould accomplish seventy years
in the desolations of Jerusalem.
And I set my face unto the Lord, god to seek by prayer and
supplications, with fastings andsackcloth and ashes.
And I prayed unto the Lord.
(02:13):
My God, made my confession andsaid O Lord, the great and
dreadful God, keeping thecovenant and mercy to them that
love him, to them that keep hiscommandments.
We have sinned and havecommitted iniquity and have done
wickedly and have rebelled, even by departing from thy
(02:34):
precepts and from thy judgments.
Neither have we hearkened untothy servants, the prophets which
spake in thy name, to our kings, our princes and our fathers
and to all the people of theland.
O Lord, righteousness belongethunto thee, but unto us,
confusion of faces, as at thisday, to the men of Judah, to the
inhabitants of Jerusalem and toall Israel that are near and
(02:56):
that are far off, through allthe countries where thou hast
driven them because of theirtrespass that they have
trespassed against thee, driventhem because of their trespass
that they have trespassedagainst thee.
16, o Lord, to us belongethconfusion of faith to our kings,
to our princes, to our fathers, because we have sinned against
thee.
17.
To the Lord, our God, belongmercies and forgiveness, though
we have rebelled against him.
(03:17):
18.
Neither have we obeyed thevoice of the Lord, our God, to
walk in his laws, which he setbefore us by his servants, the
prophets.
Yea, all Israel havetransgressed thy law, even by
departing that they may not obeythy voice.
Therefore, the curse is pouredupon us in the oath that is
written in the law of Moses, theservant of God, because we have
(03:37):
sinned against him, and he hathconfirmed his words, which he
spake against us and against ourjudges that judged us by
bringing upon us a great evil.
Verse 2, for unto the wholeheaven hath not been done as
hath been done unto Jerusalem.
I wish you'd know the tenthchapter and the first verse.
Verse 3, in the third year ofCyrus, the king of Persia, a
(03:59):
thing was revealed unto Danielwhose name was called
Belteshazzar, and the thing wastrue, and the time appointed was
long, and he understood thething and had understanding of
the vision.
In those days I, daniel, wasmourning three full weeks.
I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh or wine in my
mouth, neither did I anointmyself at all, till three whole
weeks were fulfilled.
In the fourth and twentieth dayof the first month, as I was by
(04:23):
the side of the great river, which is Hittikal, then I lifted
up my eyes and looked andbehold a man clothed in linen
whose loins were girded withfine gold of Euphrates".
We're going to talk to you justa little while tonight on a
very, very simple thought, andwe're picking it up from the
(04:43):
ninth chapter.
We just read to you, and that'swhile I was praying.
While I was praying, I've hadsome strange happenings while I
was praying, and I'm sure youhave, and it's no new subject
and we may get a little thoughtif I'm going to tell you how it
happened.
I remember when my wife wasdown for ten weeks and she
(05:04):
didn't go to the doctor.
We were just praying for her.
But she's bad and I knew it.
She thought she'd die and shesaid here's the dress I want to
be buried in and I'll tell youwhat I want you to do at my
funeral.
There's ten weeks of it andthat is bad for her and bad for
me.
But I well remember, while I waspraying, I opened the Bible one
day and knelt to pray and I putdown my finger on Matthew 21,
(05:27):
22, and whatsoever you shall askin prayer, believing you shall
receive.
I don't know why it takes solong to get there.
I don't know why it takes solong to get to it sometimes, but
I got that.
I reached it that day.
I reached it that day and Godhealed her.
He healed her sounding well, Imean he healed her had the dress
(05:48):
laid out.
She wanted me to bury her in,but God healed her back to the
house of God.
She's went, and it's been yearsand years and years.
But you know, I'll tell youthis, girls when she got back.
She got up and said I'll tellyou, it just sent cold chills
over me.
She screamed the very idea toget healed like that.
And you had just said coldchills over me.
She screamed the very idea toget healed like that.
(06:09):
It was like that preacherfriend of mine.
He went to the doctor and hegave him a bunch of medicine and
he got to getting better.
And he went back to church andhad them pray for him and he got
better yet.
And he went back to the doctorand the doctor said how are you
doing?
He said well, said doc.
He said he is a personal friendof mine, said I'm getting
better, said your medicineseemed to help some.
And then I went to church andthey prayed for me and I got
better yet.
And he said thank God.
(06:30):
And the doctor said go and giveup to it, said my grandma used
to shout her heart out.
Let God bless you, boy.
Let God bless you.
That's what the doctor said Gotout of the ordinary.
Out of the ordinary, I waspraying.
Do you suppose it'd help ussome in America if a lot of our
(06:51):
folks had quit trying to actlike we're so good and have a
prime meeting, like Daniel had.
Do you suppose it'd help us ifMama had come to the altar
tonight and say, lord, we havesinned and confessed the sins of
her daughter and her boy, andmaybe her lost husband, to the
Lord?
We have sinned.
(07:12):
Are we into it tonight or not?
I'm going to preach on while Iwas praying.
You know what, just before Ileft home, two of the boys over
in the OU University, oklahomaUniversity, ou University,
oklahoma University OU.
They let them, of course, inthe dorms.
There's no harm in it, you know.
They let them drink beer inthere.
(07:33):
Of course it's not intoxicating, but it is, and you stay drunk
longer on a beer drunk than youdo straight out.
Alcohol or vodka stays in yourblood longer, takes longer to
get drunk, but they sell morebeer like that.
Don't it kind of make you feelbad to back the buyers, the
(07:54):
painters, the lions, the apes, the owls, the hoot owls and all
the rest, when you find out thatthe beer industry is pushing
nearly every one of them anddoing the best to get them to
drink it In the dorm?
They had a fuss over there theother night.
They can bring women into themen's dorms.
(08:15):
Of course we've got bettereducated and learned that we can
do our own thing, regardless ofwhat anybody says about the
thing.
Daniel saw a need to find Godand when he began to pray he
said God, we've sinned againstyou Ain't.
Nobody can get in the shapewe're in, except they've
departed from you.
Did you know what?
(08:36):
They just drank a few beers andthey brought a
seventeen-year-old girl and atwenty-year-old girl in there.
The seventeen was underage butthe other one, she, could come
in there and out.
I didn't know that.
I didn't know our tax money wasbehind that.
Well, of course one boy got adrink in and shot the other.
Of course we didn't know therewas any guns over there.
(08:58):
I didn't know there was anyguns in them.
There ain't supposed to be noguns.
There ain't nobody watching thegame and you know, shot him and
rushed him to hospital.
He finally lived A couple ofnights later.
There's three of them, famousfootball players of the number
one team in the nation, severaldifferent years been number one,
(09:20):
raped that girl.
They tried to keep that quietso it wouldn't get out, but it
got out.
It got worse the other day whenthe number one quarterback sold
$1,400 worth of that whitepowder to an undercover FBI
agent.
We're in hot water over there.
(09:42):
And the year of Darius, the sonof Ahasuerus, he remembered well
, in the first year I remember, daniel said I set my face to
seek the Lord, god, by prayerand supplication, with fast and
sackcloth and ashes, and Iprayed unto the Lord, my God,
and I made my confession.
I said I've not prayed like Iought to.
I've not lived up there like Iought to live.
I've not walked like I ought towalk.
That's the reason we're introuble.
(10:03):
Hope y'all don't get mad at mebefore I stop I'm going to
preach on.
While I was praying I confessedour sins.
I said we've missed it.
We've missed it.
When I was a young man inAmerica, if any big corporations
(10:26):
began to try to buy out thelittle man or each other, we
stop that and nip that in thebud because we said that will
have three or four corporationsrunning the whole world.
Why are we accepting it now?
If you don't watch, icon willhave the whole world bought with
somebody's money himself, butmost of that's a front.
What's behind that is moneyyou'll wish after a while was
(10:48):
not behind that.
Amen.
If things keep going like theyare and the buyouts keep taking
place like they are and bigcorporations and monopolies turn
out to be three or four andrule the whole world.
I'm going to get to my message.
While I was praying, I said wehave sinned.
We have sinned against God.
(11:10):
Every night, just about everynight, in Oklahoma City,
children Somebody's killed, shot.
We never had that when I was aboy.
What is wrong?
While I was praying, we'vecommitted iniquity, we've done
wickedly, have rebelled, even bydeparting from thy precepts and
(11:31):
from thy judgment.
I don't want to think of me,and I know that this is in the
book of Daniel, but I'm going totell you, children, we are not
a wholeness nation.
Our Baptist folks ought to bowtheir heads in shame and say, oh
God, forgive us, we have sinnedagainst you.
Our Pentecostal people ought tobow their heads in shame and
(11:52):
say, oh God, forgive us, we'vesinned against you.
It's happening everywhere.
It's popular to do your ownthing.
Don't make it.
Just what the thing is, just doyour own thing.
It's got so far out of hand nowuntil we see we're going to back
down and we are down.
Okay, we're backing down onseveral things We've passed on
(12:13):
and rewriting them and redoingthem because it ain't working
like that.
Amen, it ain't working likethat.
We neither have we hearkenedunto thy servants, the prophets
which spake in thy name to ourkings and our princes and our
fathers, all the people of theland.
You know the one thing aboutthem old-time prophets They'd
(12:33):
look anybody right now they'rejust like old Nathan was when
David sinned that terrible,grievous sin.
David listen, it must have tookthe backbone a cobalt backbone.
He must have took the backbone,a cobar backbone.
He must have had the grace ofGod on him.
He looked David the king rightin the eye and said thou art the
(12:56):
man.
I hope North tells who the manis.
And they put him right up therebeside him.
We have sinned.
While I was praying, I feltconvicted because of sin, while
I was trying to draw near to Godthat made the world and man.
I felt conviction because ofthe way we've lived and what
we've done and we begin toconfess we've rebelled against
those you sent to tell us.
(13:17):
I looked at old John DeRoff.
He's dead now, but he's beenbehind the bars.
I said, john, what you doing inhere here went over to jail to
preach.
He said don't tell mama, don'ttell mama LD, don't tell mama,
I'm in here.
You know why John got in jail.
John done what John know Johnshouldn't do, amen.
(13:41):
You know why we can't controlour children down in Oklahoma.
In our schools We've done awaywith discipline.
You spanked one of them littlefellows where he ought to be
spanked or where she ought to bespanked, and you're in hot
water just about every time.
You can't hardly run areligious school and have any
discipline, hardly without someof the saints getting crossways
(14:03):
over.
Little Susie, help us Lord.
I know one that had to closedown and have any discipline
hardly without some of thesaints getting crossways over.
Little Susie, help us Lord.
I know one that had to closedown.
That's all that closed downover was discipline.
While I was praying, it come tome that our problem was because
of our transgressions, becauseof our sins.
Hope y'all.
It's quite enough to be heard.
(14:24):
I'm going to get good attentiontonight.
Bless my heart.
A mealy mouth, bunch ofwould-be prophets that won't
even rebuke a man and woman forliving together and them not
even married.
We're going to have so manychildren to support with welfare
till it's going to sink ourboat like it did the longs in
Louisiana.
I ain't talking about preacherseither children to support with
welfare until it's going tosink our boat like it did the
(14:45):
longs in Louisiana.
I ain't talking about preacherseither.
I ain't who I'm talking about.
I'm talking about that bunchthat run that state so long ago.
Nobody to reprove anyone ofanything.
That's evil.
You ride into Anna or a sistereither and you tell them you're
a single parent and you tellthem that you're laying up with
(15:05):
men or women, advise you what touse to keep you from catching
the AIDS and never rebuke youBiggest part of time for your
sin.
The way this man of God got ananswer from God while he was
praying was confessing the sinsof the people.
Now I admire Jeremiah.
I tell you he is one of thegreatest preachers I've ever
read after.
(15:25):
Have mercy.
Every time he prayed through, god told him the truth Whoo Amen
, son.
Every time he prayed through, god told him the truth.
Say it's going under, tell themto give up, tell them to go out
and give up.
If they'll give up they canlive, if they'll go out and
throw down their arms.
And he broke the morale of thetroops down and they got so mad
(15:47):
at him.
They done everything you couldimagine, but one thing they done
, lord.
They throwed him down in thatdungeon down there and he sunk
up in the mark, couldn't evenwalk in it, burl, they just they
didn't have no air conditioneror TV.
You know, institutions hasgiven us such time when to get
out with.
They've got too much TV, toomuch our condition, too much
central heating there.
You know what's happening.
(16:11):
Our church world, we've raisedthe devil in them.
We, like that family, had thatlittle cat they found.
They just planted it andpainted it till it growed up to
become a painter and like to eatone of them up.
It wasn't no little cat, it wasa painter.
We raised it amongst us.
Huh, they raised that right inthe house.
(16:31):
You can raise something to eatyou up after a while.
I want to preach on why I waspraying.
You thought I was just going totalk about you saying a little
meaty mouth fire, didn't you, Ibelieve?
Tonight, mother, if you'll comedown here, daddy, son, if
you'll come, daughter, if you'llcome and you'll pray for with
all your heart and confessbefore God that we've missed it,
not the preacher or the deacon, but it's me, oh Lord, standing
(16:55):
in the need of, I dare you to doit.
I dare you, in sincerity, totry it.
I dare you to do it night afternight, with sincerity, to seek
God and confess that America'ssin, confess that America's left
God, confess that America needsGod.
It'll bring God down for me.
Lord, to us belong withconfusion of faith to our kings,
(17:17):
our princes, our fathers, because we sinned against you.
You know what confuse you, right good, just sin against God
.
You don't get what you.
You know what will confuse you, right good, just sin against
God.
You don't get where.
You don't know what's ways uphardly.
I mean, you don't know what todo.
You have, at least in the world, what to do.
I never met so many people whodon't know what the will of God
is.
I never Quit seeking the Lord.
Hmm, amen, do what I want to.
(17:43):
It ain't nobody's business.
It is Amen, do what I want to.
It ain't nobody's business.
Yeah, it is.
I ain't trying to run anybusiness, but it's God's
business.
And while you're praying, I'mgoing to ask you to confess
before the Lord.
While we're here, he hathconfirmed his words, which he
spake against us and against ourjudges that judge us, by
bringing upon us this great evil.
He must have been talking aboutthe AIDS.
Well, he might not have had itthen, but why in the world did
(18:10):
this come upon us?
The AIDS?
You know what God told theHebrew?
I'll smite you with anincurable disease.
Why?
Because you sin, because youdon't dress good, because you
can't talk fluently, becauseyou're not well educated.
No, because you sin That'sentlybecause you're not a
well-educated.
No, because you sin.
That's college over there.
I'm talking to you about doperound pant over there on that
(18:30):
college and the quarterback.
The quarterback sold 1400 worth.
They got the news out on him tooquick.
He was just simply one of thefront men they were trying to
get behind him.
To who else it was?
You know what.
You know why we can't stop dopepeddling in America?
Because it's a multi-billiondollar business and men as old
as I am, from across the waterand here too, are behind it and
(18:53):
we can't handle them.
Why can't we handle them?
Because we no longer prosecuteevil.
I read of a country where theydon't have no trouble with
thieves because they whack thejoint off at a time.
Every time they catch themstealing, they whack the joint
off.
It don't take but a few jointstill they're through stealing.
I hope you all don't think I'mmean.
(19:15):
Tonight we're trying to have arevival, but I wish we had
Brother Finney here so we couldpreach against sin until
somebody screamed and fell inthe aisle.
I wish we had Brother Finneyback, he could.
He could look a hole throughyou.
I seen a picture of him burrowafter he was old and his eyes.
I put an embrace, myselflooking at him.
His eyes out of his picturejust penetrated me, went right
through me.
(19:39):
Well, there's no prosecution ofevil.
Evil is rampant, it'severywhere.
You're not safe in your house.
I've got iron bars on my house.
They stole all up and down theroad Houses, all up and down the
road, a deterrent to keep themfrom just walking in Evil.
What's the matter?
We've sinned.
That's what's the matter.
Amen, sinned against God.
(19:59):
I tell you, it's time theChristian folk prayed and
confessed before God.
Our nation is sinful.
Lord.
I'm not against Mr Dukakis, I'mnot trying to make something
out of nothing, but I do wishhis wife hadn't been an
alcoholic.
I do wish Johnny Cash had notbeen an alcoholic.
I do wish Miss Ford had notbeen an alcoholic.
(20:20):
What's wrong?
Our leaders are polluted.
Amen, amen, amen.
What's wrong?
Our leaders are polluted, amen,amen.
Oh, brother Moore, you're havinga mad spell.
No, I ain't mad.
You'll see me when I'm mad.
I've got mad a few times inlife.
Of course I never did like myuncle.
He took the crank out of theModel A Ford and beat the
headlights off everyone.
He had Indian in him too.
(20:43):
You look like you might have hada little fit or two a time or
two in life, but I'm going totell you God is the only one
that's going to straighten thismess out, and the only way we're
going to get straightened outis to pray through and confess
our sins to God.
You like that old preacher boywe buried the other day.
They preached on sanctification.
(21:04):
It's a hard one night where heis at.
That old preacher boy we buriedthe other day they preached on
sanctification.
It's a hard one night where heis at.
That old preacher boy jumped upand said I could use a dab of
that myself.
We have departed, brother onefrom the Lord.
Anytime, Stay with me now.
If you all get mad, don't leave.
I'll know you're mad.
It's a dead giveaway.
Anytime the men that we havevoted in to represent, we, the
people, try to sneak a 51%backdoor, raise in and twist the
(21:30):
language so that when they voteno it means yes, they vote yes,
it means no and we can't tellthe difference, making $89,000 a
year and want to raise it to$135,000 plus all that expense
they get.
And Oklahoma boys working forthree and a half an hour and
four dollars an hour and fourand a half.
Somebody, some person hasmissed God and has no burden at
(21:51):
all for the people.
Paul is praying.
I said God, you've confirmedyour words that you speak
against us and you brought thisevil upon us, this great evil,
because of what we've done.
That's what's done.
While I was praying and he kepton praying and I read to you
(22:11):
where, over here in the 10thchapter, he fasted three full
weeks and sought God and Godgave him a great vision.
While he's done, I hope theLord sends people back to
Oklahoma, back to Ohio.
I hope he sends them back tothe United States.
Try to bring us all back to God.
I've got some folks that needto get back to God.
Back to God.
(22:34):
I ain't mad at nobody, do youknow it?
Righteousness exalts the nation.
A sin's reproached any peopleyou don't want to get.
A mother's heart broke.
Just be there when her girlstaggers up the front steps and
pukes all over her dress andtries to find the doorknob and
get in.
It's a reproach.
We've made a joke out of it.
Your TV now has got a littleadvertisement about a little
(23:00):
soft drink.
Looks just like a beer bottle.
Hey, get him on it young.
You know, start him out on it,young.
We have sinned.
Daniel was a great man.
He realized the people was farfrom God and he led them to God
through repentance.
He himself.
You'd hear him pray and you'dthink he's lost, as the devil is
Lord.
(23:21):
We've sinned against you, wehave missed you, lord.
Old Jeremiah tell them theymissed it and pray for him
Throwed him in the dungeon, looked like he'd die.
And God brought it to someeunuch's mind over there to go
and intercede for him.
And he said he'll die, and thewater and everything.
They put down the old clothesand let him put them under his
armpits and dug him back out ofthere and he's free again.
And the king said Listen, isthere anything for the Lord?
(23:44):
Whoo, here we go again, likethat old lady down in Arkansas.
That first friend of mine wentto pray for her.
Now, it's this best, he said ifGod loves something, say it to
her.
Now, I know what it is it.
You say, yeah, that's it,jeremiah.
What do you got to say?
He said, if I tell you, you'llkill me.
The only thing I can get fromGod is what God wants me to hear
.
The only thing I can get fromGod is what God wants me to hear
(24:07):
.
I had a church, a fellow, comeby.
I said preach for me, preach tohim in soulfulness.
He went away.
Another one came, didn't knowthat one had been there next
service night.
I said please find, pleasedon't slow for this.
Sunday morning another one came.
I said please pause this one.
I feel that of God to preach onsmall for this.
He said three messages straight.
I jumped up and he got throughand said get to the altar.
(24:29):
All of you say get to the altar.
There's somebody here that'sfull of fullness.
The Lord wants to help us.
But sometimes the only waywe're going to get help we're
going to have to do somerepentance.
Amen, children, we're in aserious time.
(24:50):
I've never seen nothing like it.
If we hadn't flooded Congress,if we hadn't flooded DC with so
much mail from all over theUnited States, those fellows
would have went on.
The only reason they didn't goahead and raise themselves is
because the people didn't wantto.
So I know they don't love uslike y'all do.
They'd have done it themselves.
The only reason they made amove was because the people
rebelled, our precious senatorsdown in Oklahoma City.
(25:15):
They voted themselves in a$12,000 raise and they're going
to vote to cut the time to alittle over two months' work a
year and rake in $40,000 andwork two months a year.
They told us on the radio too.
They said you don't know howmuch it takes to live?
I do because I'm living too.
They said you don't realize howhigh things are I do.
(25:37):
I buy bread too.
Ll does.
That's the reason he shops atthe thrift store.
It looks beautiful, it is high,it's high.
But what's wrong with us?
Our rulers have been filledwith greed.
I'm like the old Baptist deacondown at home.
He is lost man.
(25:58):
God saved him.
That's a Baptist that's saved.
There's one, I know that'ssaved.
There's one Baptist saved, Iknow.
There's got to be more thanthat.
There ain't enough of ushomeless folks to make up an
innumerable number, so there'sgot to be a bunch of other
people saved somewhere.
We're just going to have togive that up.
He got saved, quit his chewingand drinking and smoking and
(26:24):
cussing and gambling and gotinto church just working for
Jesus, just wanting to getsomebody saved, get something
done, do something for the Lord, had a vision for the Lord, he
had a desire for the Lord, had aconcern for souls.
And you know, he asked him dosomething.
Yeah, I said, be glad to.
And he didn't know nothingabout church and I'm not
knocking.
But the pastor got a salary, anassistant pastor got a salary,
a song leader got a salary and apiano player got a salary and a
(26:46):
janitor got a salary.
And they got him on the deaconboard and got in the deacon
board meeting and he got allthat information.
Just like to knock him out.
He's walking the streetsknocking on doors and spending
time trying to get folks tochurch and get them saved.
He said is anybody in the worldin here that'll work for God
for nothing?
Well, I know you've got supportto pastor, I know that.
But I mean, you know, if we'renot careful, we're just going to
(27:10):
run a church like a bigbusiness somewhere and we have
no vision for souls or noconcern for souls.
Pray and truth is putting tobecome a thing of the past.
Amen.
I, daniel, was seeking God threefull weeks.
Daniel didn't have to do that.
He thought he did Three fullweeks calling on God, seeking
(27:30):
God, and that Daniel got hisanswer in the sixth chapter, in
the tenth verse.
He had it again.
And now, when Daniel knew thatthe writing was signed, he went
into his house and his windowsbeing opened in his chamber,
toward Jerusalem.
He kneeled upon his knees threetimes a day and prayed and gave
thanks before God, as he did afourth time.
He reminds me of that old motherdown there close to Salisaw.
(27:52):
A friend of mine went to herhouse.
Her husband had been dead foryears.
She was at prayer.
He walked up and I said I'llsit down in the swing on the
front porch till the mother getsthrough praying.
It's an old mother and a lord.
He's a younger man.
Some business they had to talkto her about.
It Sat out there, rocked andwaved.
Everybody went by and rockedand waved and rocked and waved,
rocked and waved.
(28:13):
Well, went to town to take careof the business, got to take
care of them, come back and seeher on the way home.
He went to town, took care ofall the business it was about an
eight mile town.
Got back, still at it, sat inthe swing on the front porch,
still at it, sat till he gaveout, decided to go home and talk
to you about it tomorrow.
I'm talking about praying WhileI was praying.
(28:35):
If you're going to have a goodprayer today, you better confess
before God that this sin inAmerica, that your boys, is lost
and is sinning against God, anddo like Job of old did offer up
prayers for them.
You know, I've gotten a littlebind the last two years, worse
than I've ever been in in 45.
And you know what?
(28:55):
The Lord gave me a messageright in the middle of it.
After this, did you ever hear?
After this preached on, or oneof these days I'll preach on it
for you, but I preached it in aplace.
After this, after, while I wasin that trial the worst of it
the phone rung and we was havingyouth violence.
I said that's the civiliansthat fell in on the camels.
I'll assure you right now.
After, while I was in thattrial, the worst of it uh, the
(29:30):
phone rung and we had news aboutit.
I said that the civilians justfell in on the camels.
I'll assure you right noweverything else and that's got
to be the camel getters thereand I ain't going to have a
camel left in that farm.
Quit talking.
There'll be no camel left AfterJoel lost everything.
After this, I don't know whatthis is for you, but I'm going
to tell you what this involves.
A lot of things sometimes, butit's after this, before you get
(29:50):
that.
After all of that, I can't gothrough that.
But sometimes, as you serve Godand seek God and pray to God,
you're in some lawless trial youcan never see or hear or think
of.
But stay in there and confessbefore God your need of Him.
Confess before God the need ofGod for your family.
After a while you'll be able tosay After this, god blessed the
(30:11):
latter end of Job more than all.
But after this, after all themstorms, after ten children, did
he have ten children?
I believe he had ten children, didn't he?
After he buried every one ofthem, after he buried them
flat-busted, did you read Verlewhere his wife said curse God
and die.
I preach on do-it-yourselfright there.
(30:35):
Did you ever go to school?
Some old boy said if I had youI'd bust him right in the mouth.
Do it yourself, lord, as folksin the church.
I'd give her a piece of my mind.
Well, do it yourself.
I like to tell Job's wife, do ityourself.
She'd say curse God and die.
Why didn't she have a curse fitand die?
(30:56):
I just thought I'd give you alittle bit of after this tonight
.
Come on, job was bad.
I just thought I'd give you alittle bit of after this tonight
, after us.
Job was bad.
He did just exactly like a lotof his friends that came to
visit him did Just exactly likea great bunch of my preacher
friends have done to me.
No, listen to me carefully.
I understand why they did whatthey did.
It didn't bother me.
I told me at home.
I said they know and they'rehurt and they're afraid they'll
(31:19):
say the wrong thing.
Job's friends come and sit forseven days and never opened
their mouth Seven days and neveropened their mouth.
His grief was so great.
They just sat there seven daysand never said nothing.
After it was all over, god saidto Job pray, pray for your
friends.
And the Bible said God blessedJob and set him free when he
(31:40):
prayed for his friend.
And somebody across the hillsaid let's go see Job.
Before they got out the doorwife said why don't you take him
a piece of money?
Reach there in that sugar jarthere, pull out that piece of
gold.
I've got in there, let's takethat one.
And all over the whole country, folks headed for Job's house,
just before they got in thewagon, forgot something.
(32:02):
John, what is it?
Well, you've got a little moneyput back behind the picture in
there.
Let's take some of that to Job.
Everybody that headed here hadthe office fellowship meeting
you ever seen.
You could see the dusta-fogging for miles.
They come from everywhere, andevery man left a piece of money
in Job's hand, left money inJob's hand and had it piled up
(32:22):
on the table there where he hadto lay.
It had enough to get back inthe camel business.
Amen.
After this, what are you intotonight?
You in trouble, I am too.
I'll tell you what I'll do.
Let's turn this into prayermeeting a little bit here and
let's confess before God all ofour shortcomings.
You ain't got none.
Well, that's good.
You pray for all of us then.
(32:42):
But I want to tell you what youknow.
One time I spoke to across to myfather-in-law, and he is an
Irishman and I was a preacherboy, and I talked a little
across to him.
You know the Spirit won't letyou get away with nothing Went
(33:03):
off down the road and the Spiritsaid you go back and you tell
him.
You spoke too sharp to him.
He's got great confidence inyou.
I said B, I'm going back.
She said don't tell her.
I said it.
You may abstract this part.
She said don't go back.
Daddy's hot is hot-headed.
Said he won't take it.
Said you can't reason.
My day said you must not goback.
(33:24):
Yeah, I said I'm going back.
I went back to old man.
I said listen, I spoke toosharp to you.
I spoke too sharp.
You told me the truth.
I said I spoke too sharp.
I had take, take the edge offmy sword.
Our love.
I said spoke too sharp.
I had to take the edge off mysword there a little.
I said I spoke too sharp.
I want you to forgive me.
I said I really want to try tomake it into pearly gates.
(33:46):
You know what that welded ustogether?
I didn't know it would.
I wasn't no supernatural plantin my mind behind that barrel.
I didn't know a thing aboutpsychology or psychiatrists or
nothing.
I wasn't working nothing on him.
I don't know how to work, nothing like that shit.
That broke that old man's heartand he said oh yeah, lester,
(34:07):
yeah.
And he and my buddy until hedied, laying out hospital at the
doors of death.
And God said he'll die tonight.
And the great physician saidhe'll live.
I said be your daddy or dietonight.
She said the.
I said be your daddy or dietonight, she said.
The great doctor said it'd beall right.
I said he won't, he'll dietonight.
He's lost.
I said I know it.
I said talk to him.
I said I have many times, butI'm not the one you are.
She went in to her father andsaid Daddy, you're bad, you're
(34:28):
bad, you're bad, sick and you'relost.
You need Jesus.
You need knows the Lord willsave a man that ain't put a dime
in the offering.
He'll save a woman that's neverbeen to church.
He'll save a man 90 years old.
He just loves to save people'ssouls.
Jesus loved them.
(34:48):
Every one treated them worsethan a dirty dog.
Son of God slept on the side ofa hill with a pile of leaves
for a pillar.
Great God, nobody.
Off him a ride and have to walkfor miles.
The normal horse.
Love them all.
Open world Reached down on thathospital bed while that old man
(35:09):
wrung his hands and said God,be merciful to me, a sinner
saved him that night, diedbefore daylight, died before
daylight, died before daylight.
Well, I was trying to preach onwhile I was praying.
While I was praying, somebodytouched me.
While I was praying, somebodytouched me.
(35:30):
Listen, don't tell me it don'twork.
I wish I had the Richland'sChoir right here tonight.
That old boy could come down onthat bass.
You come a little late to tellme I wish you were here to sing,
that you got here too late.
I'm going to tell you it works.
Daniel's doing it again here.
He threatens to throw him alive.
(35:51):
Then if he does it, he'll makehim whatever and he's down on
his knees.
Pray three times a day, justlike you've been doing.
Pray three times a day, justlike you've been doing.
You praying tonight, youseeking the Lord tonight, follow
us praying.
Can we talk about you and sayyou prayed Amen.
Don't get offended at me now,but if what you're doing in the
altar church, what you callpraying, I'm not making fun of
(36:12):
you, but I'm going to tell you.
I've been across the hill andI've had some meetings where, if
what folks done in Alders theycall that praying.
It ain't going to work.
I ain't going to work.
You've got to get deeper thanthat.
Amen, hallelujah.
(36:34):
Somebody say I'm seeking theHoly Ghost that long.
You mean that long?
Oh, come on now, that's level.
You go see something at thehouse, I'll see.
I seek my socks in that sockdrawer long and some folks take
the Holy Ghost.
I'm sick.
And I boldly go in and tell be,they're not in there.
And, jeff, she comes in thereand opens it up in the land on
(36:56):
top.
That's what's aggravating aboutit.
Seek hallelujah.
Three, four weeks.
I was a friend.
While the birds flew over.
I was a friend when the suncome up and when the sun went
down, I wrestled with God andsought God until I, sure enough,
saw something.
Fifth chapter, psalms and thethird verse, david said.
(37:19):
Fifth chapter, third verse myvoice shalt thou hear in the
morning, o Lord, in the morningwill I direct my prayer unto
thee and will look up.
You want to start your day good.
Open it with prayer.
I told you I preached on.
Do you Mean it?
I got tired of going in andhanding me a bill and said on
(37:40):
the back of it thank you, comeback.
How long had it been wrote First?
Maybe it did wrote that Go inthe bank.
Every one of them, to the lastone, still says it have a good
day.
I'd change that If I'm tellingyou what I got one boardman
church of bankers.
Nothing's training to be one abanker, nothing's training to be
one, and they're going to makebankers.
I hope they learn to changethat.
A fellow comes up to the window.
I hope they do somethingbesides say have a good day.
(38:02):
You know they don't mean it.
They say it everywhere you go.
Start it off with sincerity.
Have mercy, mercy on our sinfulnation, our sinful people, amen
, amen.
Have mercy on our sinful nation, our sinful people, Amen, amen.
Have mercy on our childrengoing to college, needing God so
(38:24):
bad, oh, therefore, they don'teven fear God at all.
No fear of God about them.
Have mercy on them.
Have mercy on the wayward boy, curse, curse and drink, treating
his family bad.
Let's confess it to the Lordtonight, maybe he'll hear us,
maybe he'll have mercy.
David said he was going to andhe talked like it worked.
5th chapter, 16, verse.
(38:44):
David said as for me, I willcall upon God and the Lord shall
save me.
He's a king, he is over thewhole country.
I mean there's hundreds ofthousands of people under him.
He said as for me, I will callupon God and the Lord shall save
me.
Evening and morning and at noonwill I pray and cry aloud and
(39:07):
he shall hear my voice.
You hear that.
Can you hear what David said?
As for me, I will call upon Godand the Lord shall save me,
evening and morning and at noonwill I pray and cry aloud and he
shall hear my voice.
March of saving.
Evening and morning and at noonwill I pray and cry aloud and
he shall hear my voice.
I knew of that colored woman, the man's dead, that prayed for
a boy.
I didn't know the familypersonally, but I knew about the
(39:28):
story.
Landed at our plane, at ourport, they said we've got to lay
over here, we've got to do somethings to this plane.
It'll be a good while before wecan get back and are with it,
but if you'll be patient we'llget it fixed and get you back.
He said.
The Spirit said walk out throughthat housing district.
Out there Down the street, hesaid he went Down the way, was a
colored woman looking out overa little white picket fence up
(39:49):
that road.
When he got pretty close hesaid, parson, I've been looking
for you all day.
She didn't say are you apreacher?
She said, parson, I've beenlooking for you all day long.
My boys lay in that back room, young man, alcohol and dope
nearly destroyed him.
He's lost, he's bad sick, nomoney for the hospital, no money
(40:13):
to take him to a place where heneeded to be looked like.
Marched through that gate inthat door in that back room and
prayed for that black boy.
That white preacher went backand got on that plane and went
where he was going.
A couple of years later stoppedin an airport and a red cap ran
up to get his baggage Red cap,you all know what them boys wear
them red caps.
(40:33):
A black boy.
He said you don't know me, doyou, parson?
The old son said I don't knowwho you are.
He said I'm the boy that'slaying in that back room and
dying that you prayed for andGod helped me and brought me out
of it.
Wouldn't you like to pray someprayers that'd rattle something
once in a while and get a holdof listen I'm counting on.
(40:53):
There.
Ain't a way in the world forthis church or any other church
to be spiritual except they'repraying people, they must
confess before the Lord that wehave sinned against God, that
we've departed from the Lord.
We sung an old worldly songdown home you done started back
(41:15):
doing the things that you usedto do.
I don't know that song, but ifyou ever had music in you
there's some little tunesthat'll come to your mind
sometime.
They're good little tunes.
But that song said why can'tyou be true?
You done started back doing thethings that you used to do.
I'm going to tell you allsomething.
In my travels across thecountry for two million miles an
hour driving I'm finding folksdone started back doing what
(41:36):
they used to do, amen.
I've actually had some folksget mad at me because I told
them I had not to do it BecauseI knew they were spiritual when
they wasn't doing it Startedback doing things that they used
to do, amen, amen.
Well, they come by one churchdown in Oklahoma on Sunday
morning, headed for the lake tobathe and swim and fish and just
(41:56):
sign their name so they couldbe counted and they kept the
register up high so it didn'tlook like it was all gone.
Just come by with their boats, their bikinis and their shorts
and sign in and they countedthem.
That's crooked, ain't it?
That's crooked.
I wish you'd jump out of thatshot like you did, doesn't I?
Does anybody know you do thatstomp dance like that?
(42:16):
Just take exactly that Indianstomp dance like that.
It's just exactly an Indianstomp dance.
I loved it.
I loved it.
I'm going to pray again.
I'm going to seek God again.
I'm going to confess the sinsof my children, the sins of my
wife.
I had a close relativebackslide on me, but you know
they didn't hardly get backsliduntil they come sliding back in.
(42:38):
How'd you do it?
When you did, brother Moore?
I said that's the way to do it.
Get on back in there.
I said that's the thing to do.
Come on back.
We're waiting, right here tohelp pray you through.
We're right here to help getyou out of it.
Just held a meeting in Oklahomaand a fellow used to be saved,
had a wife and five childrenleft her and the five children
she married again.
He married again, preached foryears.
(42:58):
What'd you do with him, brotherMoore?
I said he's gone.
He's gone to hell.
He's made a sin against theHoly Ghost.
You know, god never did send meto preach.
That.
He never did since I've lived.
Send me to preach that.
All he sent me to do is preachthe good news and tell him to
come to altar and let's try toget saved.
Amen.
I pray with any man, I don'tcare if he stinks like he's been
(43:19):
pickled or if he's got sevenwives.
If Jesus had the attitude ofsome folks of God, he never
would have messed with thatwoman at the well.
He would have never in theworld fooled her, wouldn't have
been no hope for her.
But he said, if you'd ask adrink of me, I wouldn't have
been no hope for her.
But he said, if you'd ask adrink of me, I wouldn't have
(43:40):
given you.
Can't God find husband andliving in wide open idolatry?
And if you'd have just asked, Itold you that old boy got saved
the other night, went onthrough the Holy Ghost before we
could stop him and indoctrinatehim, didn't I Down to the
church, never had to be in theHoly Church but twice, and got
(44:01):
saved and fell to the Holy Ghostbefore we could stop him,
before we could get him sloweddown, he already had the Holy
Ghost.
Too late to teach the doctrineof sanctification.
Too late to try to explainjustification.
Too late to try to explain theHoly Ghost.
Don't have the whole lot Toolate.
She'd come back out of the mar.
She'd come back out of the mar.
(44:21):
She come back out of the mar.
Made her under the altar.
My God, she said I've sinned.
I got in such a bind over herlike I did that drunk.
I tried to pray through her oneday in Ohio.
I got down to the altar, stunkso bad it was.
Pitiful.
Whew Got down there with him.
I prayed all the pretty prayersout and I prayed the sinner's
prayers about 15 of them.
I hear different preacherspraying them and I try to learn
(44:43):
some of them, but it wouldn'twork.
On that fellow you could sayrepeat after me.
He couldn't repeat after nobody.
Well, you still can repeatafter me.
All of us praying, did you boys?
How many Kentucky folks we gothere tonight?
How about you Barhoppers?
Bless your hearts.
Back over there in Sand Gap anddown that Kentucky country,
(45:05):
back in that mountain.
Poor Job's, turkey.
Glory to God, hallelujah.
Prayed in the mountains.
I know one over there had acave at the bottom, a cave in
the middle and a cave at the topwhen his boy was at war.
I'm preaching on while I waspraying, prayed in the bottom
until he felt victim and wenthome.
I don't know how you could tellit, but saints used to be able
(45:25):
to tell that Everything willwork out all right.
He said I, everything will workout alright, said I, prayed
about that, felt the spiritit'll be alright, don't worry
about it.
Don't worry about it, he said.
Some nights I moved to thesecond cave at Miller Mountain.
Pray, we'll get to 12, 1o'clock.
Come out there, assurance myboy, it's going to be alright at
war, way off, like yours, yourneighbor.
(45:47):
Some nights, he said LD, I wasin the top cave till the morning
broke and a son come out.
I was in the top cave all nightlong.
That old boy got home.
They put their timetablestogether and he told him
different nights they got somedates together.
No man checked the counter athome.
He said daddy has a night.
It looked like I'd never livedto see the day.
(46:08):
He said it looks sure like Idied that night.
It was God that woman'd die thatnight.
It was God that woman had paidin Oklahoma, while she was
praying in the woods five milesnorth of Payton.
God said to her I'm sendingyour boy home from the war and
he'll do well, shouted herselfout of the woods, just like that
old boy did, praying about whatsanctification was, prayed till
(46:30):
he'd give out in the woods tosee if his second death would
work for grace.
The power of God came upon himand shouted him come out of the
woods.
And God never did tell him.
He got so much of it.
He shouted himself out of thewoods and God never told him
what it was.
Hallelujah Whoo.
God didn't want to get in thatfarce.
Just one folks to pray and getit.
Shout it out of the woods, comehome.
(46:53):
Just a little off, you see, hesaid.
God told me my boy would behome from the war.
Big old husky from Payton, oklahoma, styled as ox, wasn't
nothing wrong with him.
He knowed the duck, one of thegreatest soldiers they had.
That old boy from Payton, oneof the greatest soldiers they
(47:14):
had.
They'd have to slip up on himto get him and they'd have to be
mighty quiet to do that.
He'd listen to what they toldhim.
He never got in a booby trap Imean, some good ones did.
But you know what.
They laughed at her.
Try it, dad.
Try it on your grandchildren, try it on that old grandson.
Grab him by the neck.
I don't care what it smellslike.
(47:35):
Get him around the neck.
Whisper in his ear your papaloves you boy.
You know I just talked to Brentthis morning.
This is for church.
I forgot to tell you.
You know, brent Moore.
How many knows old Brent, davidMoore's boy.
Thank you for raising your hand.
He said tell him.
I said hello.
He thinks every one of you knowhim.
He thinks every one of youloves him.
(47:57):
He thinks if you hadn't, hehadn't told me to tell him hello
, boys, he'd have missed it.
Sure, I said, I'll tell him.
Old buddy, whew, you could bepraying when that old girl calls
on the phone and says Mom, Ijust prayed through.
You could be praying when thatold man down the road that feels
(48:18):
so bad calls and says I've justbeen healed.
Some of the best things happenwhen folks are praying.
I've heard tell up Now, that'scompletely out of order, that's
not in the book of etiquette andthat's just breaking all the
rules of the book.
(48:39):
I didn't even think of it whenI done it.
It wasn't on purpose.
I just do that when I get to acertain place.
Aren't you glad, lord, that Godis real?
It don't matter what anybodysays the man will seek God right
and free.
Right God will help him, whew.
(49:00):
That individual prayed throughand got back to God and I just
had a fit.
I just had the best time Seemedlike I wanted to introduce him
to everybody.
I said, look here, here's anewborn Christian.
Of course they're just abackslider.
They'd come back, but I wasexcited of the Lord answering my
prayers, so that there's goldto me.
I want to show them all.
(49:21):
Look here, just prayed two.
All I'm preaching on.
The follow is praying.
I've heard better preaching thanthis I've done on while I was
praying.
I've heard better preachingthan this, I've done it.
I've heard 10th chapter of Acts.
You read about it.
I just got to finish thisbecause I didn't want to preach
tomorrow night.
I preached four times on onemessage here while I was back in
Mexico.
Well, I didn't do any good mucheither time boys, but I thought
(49:43):
I finally would.
God bless you for such backingon that.
Ain't it great to be saved, hallelujah.
I wouldn't give a nickel for atrain that had 90 cars on it,
full of some of the religionsome folks has got.
I passed an old boy.
Salvation liked to ruin him.
(50:04):
Well, he called it salvationCrankiest thing I've ever seen.
He could tear any Bible classup or any class he's ever in up.
If he was talking aboutbuttermilk he'd want to be
talking about rocks in themiddle of the ocean somewhere.
I mean he could get thefurthest from what he ought to
be talking about.
He loved it.
Go down to the store where heworked.
Could we help you?
(50:25):
We're so glad you came in.
We're glad to have you here.
We appreciate your business.
Just what can we do for you?
Get out to church and turn thaton in the church.
Come to church and turn that onin the church.
Bless God, I'm glad I'm saved.
Of course that coffee don't sitlike I do.
(50:46):
