Speaker 1 (00:00):
So the Lord will help
us.
Joshua, chapter 24.
I'm going to read verse 1 andthen we're going to skip down
some verses.
We're going to skip severalverses from time to time here,
if you have it in your Bible, say Amen.
Can we do like we do atMassanova, which is stand for
(00:24):
the reading of the Word?
I honor God's holy book?
No, amen, amen.
We stand for the nationalanthem.
This book is ahead of that.
I believe in America, I believein our flag, and when that flag
(00:46):
is flowing and the nationalanthem is sung, there's
something that just stands upinside of me.
I'm grateful to be in Americaand God so together, all the
tribes of Israel, to shepherdand call for the elders of
Israel and for their heads andfor their judges and for their
(01:09):
officers.
And they presented themselvesbefore God.
Let's drop down to verse 14.
Joshua is now speaking.
He says Now, therefore, fearthe Lord and serve Him in
sincerity and in truth, and putaway the gods which your father
(01:30):
served on the other side of theflood and in Egypt, and serve ye
the Lord.
Amen.
You believe that?
Say amen, amen.
And now, if you will drop downto verse 23.
He repeats again Now, therefore, put away, said he, the strange
(01:53):
gods which are among you andincline your heart unto the Lord
, god of Israel.
Yes, why did Joshua say thisrepeatedly over again, the
second time?
Unless there were some who didnot embrace the word of God and
(02:18):
the truth he wanted to emphasizeto them.
You're going to have to serveGod.
Come on here.
Somebody say amen.
So amen.
Now you have to understand.
God knew their tendencies.
God knew down in their heartsthat there were some who would
(02:43):
not come on here, follow theLord.
Amen.
So verse 28,.
So Joshua, let the people depart.
Every man to his inheritance.
And it came to pass.
After these things, joshua, theson of Nun, the servant of the
(03:05):
Lord, died, being 110 years old,and they buried him in the
border of his inheritance inTendon Sierra, which is in the
Mount Ephraim, on the north sideof the hill of Gaiash.
And Israel served the Lord allthe days of Joshua and all the
(03:26):
days of the elders that outlivedJoshua, who should have known
all the works of the Lord thathe had done for Israel.
Somebody say amen.
Now, if you will bear with ushere, we want to go to Judges,
(03:53):
chapter 2, verse 6.
Repeat some of the same wordswe just read.
And when Joshua had let thepeople go, the children of
Israel, when every man to hisinheritance to possess the land,
the people serve the Lord allthe days of Joshua and all the
(04:17):
days of the elders that havelived Joshua, who have seen all
the great works of the Lord thathe did for them, that is, them
coming, coming throughwilderness, and Joshua, the son
of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being a hundred and ten
years old.
And also, oh, and they buriedhim at the border of his
(04:40):
inheritance, in the Mount ofEphraim, on the north side of
the hill of Gaash, and also allthat generation were gathered to
their fathers.
Now, once you get this, this isvery important there arose
another generation after themwhich knew not the Lord, nor yet
(05:04):
the works which he had done forIsrael.
That verse gives informationadditional to Joshua, chapter 24
, and shows when apostasy reallybegan in Israel the generation
(05:26):
after the elders that outlivedJoshua among those who knew not
the works of the Lord.
Amen, you may be seated.
Do we have any chairs, brother?
Yes, sir, three folding chairslike that one and a small chair.
Amen, anyway, I just sit two ofthem here and the other two
(06:01):
over here.
If I could just say to youtonight what a man.
Now I'm just taking my timehere, I might get energetic
after a while, but nobody knowsuntil I get down, what a man is
(06:22):
is more important than what hehas done.
Don't you get that Brother RoyHorton used to say?
You can't remember it rightdown.
And holiness of life is moreimportant by far than holiness
doctrine.
You can have them and there's alot of our Pentecostal
(06:47):
movements that in the years goneby and even now some still have
their good doctrine, but theholiness of life is very missing
.
Amen.
And if you are satisfied now,he asked me to preach to the
young people tonight.
(07:07):
So I've got a few things to say.
If you're satisfied, the wayyou are and what you are, you
probably won't understand muchof what I've got to say tonight.
But if there's something insideof you that cries out for more
than what you got, amen, I trustthat the Lord will help you.
(07:30):
Amen.
I remember years ago that lawyerthat's a preacher, that's CLA
gives, and I remember hearinghim say that CLA gives.
And I remember hearing him sayyou cannot become what you need
(07:52):
to be by remaining what you are.
Now.
Write that one down, amen.
And I've heard people say well,I'm just an average bricklayer,
or I'm just an averagebricklayer, or I'm just an
average church member, or I'mjust an average driver.
I want to tell you you need toget ahead of that.
(08:14):
Paul Harvey said average is onedegree of unlousy.
I hope you are better than anaverage Christian.
I'd like to be better than justan average husband.
I'd like to be come on here.
I'd like to be better than justan average preacher.
(08:37):
I'd like to be better, amen, than just an average pastor.
Amen.
I trust that the Lord wouldhelp me to get high as I
possibly can on this ladder ofGod's mercy and His grace.
Amen, amen.
We have right now in ourAmerican culture, especially in
(09:02):
the church world.
We have an easy believism Justbelieve in Jesus.
Amen.
That's all this is.
I'm going to get a littletighter on you tonight than
maybe what you're accustomed to,but I want to tell you there's
a fine line betweenintellectualism with charisma
(09:24):
and the option with theanointing of the holy ghost.
There's a fine line.
Come on here.
I know a lot of princes thatcan sway a crowd with their
words.
They've got charisma.
But when they get through, comeon here.
It's like punching a technicalthey give through.
(09:49):
Come on here, amen.
It's like punching a technicalorder.
It's all over.
I want something in my life, amen, that will be a lasting,
effective result for people'slives.
Amen, amen.
I said this many times in mypreaching in the last few years.
Performing Performance can bedone with little or no prayer.
You can perform, but ministrycannot be done without prayer
(10:17):
and brokenness.
You've got to allow the HolyGhost to take you apart, to
break you up.
Come on here.
There's a message thateverything out of you that's not
like Him, whatever it may be,somebody say amen, and I want to
(10:37):
tell you the reason we are heretonight is to ask you, as young
people, to draw closer amen toCalvary than you've ever been in
your life.
Amen.
Now on the farm, I'm an old farmboy, amen.
I've raised on the farm for agood number of years and
(10:58):
sometimes on the farm you had totake out a gate or a post.
Amen.
And to get machinery in thatfield.
Amen.
To break up the fallow groundthat grew up with saplings.
Amen, and all Hickory Grovearea that's way out there in the
(11:25):
country.
It's not so much countryanymore, but it used to be then
Amen, and our neighbor Farmeramen was a good man and Papa
Waddell, which we lived with fora period of time Y'all listen
to me now, don't you Amen?
(11:46):
Period of time.
Y'all listen to me now, ain'tyou Amen?
He had just got the firstfarmball diesel tractor.
That thing was huge.
Amen had a gas engine.
He had to start the gas.
You have to be older to knowanything about this, amen.
He had to start the gas engineand then shove a lever and that
(12:11):
gas engine would start thediesel engine, amen.
They called that gas engine apony engine, amen, because it
would start the big old diesel.
That was a huge old tractor andPapa Waddell had that tractor
and he was the first one in ourpart of the country that got
(12:32):
that big tractor.
He hooked up the plows acrossthe back of that thing seven or
eight plows wide, amen and hetook it over to John Beach, amen
.
Some of y'all may know mybrother John Beach.
He's been deceased for manyyears.
He wound up eventually being astreet preacher and a jailhouse
(12:55):
preacher.
But amen, he was a good man.
He called Papa Waddell and saidwould you come over?
I've got a field out here inthe front.
That's all grown up in saplings, amen, and it's all grown up in
weeds and bars and I need foryou to come and break it up so
(13:15):
that I can get some use out ofit.
So he did.
He went over there and, amen, with our farmhands amen and
Louie was a foreman of the farmthere he and Louie went over
there and us boys we were justyoung boys then, before we was
ever teenagers, amen and we gotto the gate to take that big
(13:40):
diesel and with those seven oreight plows on the back of it
into that field and it wouldn'tgo through the gate.
Amen Louis said well, mrWaddell said what are we going
to do?
Amen, he said get you a diggingiron, pull that post up.
(14:01):
Amen, come on here, take thegate off, pull the post up, pull
that wire back.
Amen, we're going in to forplowit.
Amen, louis did, and he plowedup the field.
Amen, help me here.
I want to tell you I don't knowhow you feel about it, but
(14:23):
whatever God has to do in mylife, amen, that his power can
be manifested.
Amen, god, take me apart, setme apart, amen, you can be out.
You're like a great person, you're coming to my spirit, you
feel it and power me up.
(14:44):
Somebody say amen.
You never felt the shock, amenOf the plow, amen, of God's plow
in your field.
You don't know anything aboutwhat I'm talking about, but when
he comes in, he comes in me andbusiness, he can plow you up.
(15:06):
Well, feel it, man.
Amen, amen, amen, well, amen.
Each chair here and maybe you'rewondering about it here and
some of you already know, someof you have heard me preach this
(15:27):
and if you have just act likeyou haven't Amen.
Each one of these chairsrepresents a generation.
No, that's three generations.
We are told by historians AmenFor you, come on here For you to
lose.
Amen what you had in your lifein the first generation.
(15:50):
The third generation knowsnothing about it.
So each one of these chairsrepresent a generation.
The first generation we'regoing to look at tonight is
Moses and Joshua.
Amen, mighty Joshua, amen, mighty men, amen.
(16:11):
They were the ones.
Come on here.
They were the ones that saw andexperienced the mighty works of
God firsthand.

Somebody say amen, amen, comeon here.
Somebody say amen.
(16:31):
In Exodus, chapter 3, moses onthe backside of the desert,

They saw a bush that was onfire, that was not consumed, and
he said I will now turn asideand see why this bush is not
burned.
And when he did, amen thatdescends on this holy rock.
(16:54):
I'm feeling better.
Amen.
All the miracles that Godbrought through by the hand of
(17:17):
Moses down in Egypt was becauseMoses had a personal experience
with God.
Come on here, he had a personalexperience with you.
Come on here, he had a personalexperience.
Yo yo yo, believe me here.
Amen.
But all the miracles that wereperformed down in Egypt.
(17:42):
Best I can remember, heperformed 42 miracles before
they came out of Egyptianbondage.
Ah, how could he do that?
Because he'd been at theburning bush.
It was not something he justheard about, it was not
(18:05):
something somebody told himabout, but he had a burning bush
experience with God.
Nobody else had a burning bushexperience, but Moses did.
I don't know about you, but Ipray God give our homeless
people a burning bush experience.
(18:28):
Say I am the Lord, yes, amen, amen.
When they came to the Red Seaand you know the story, I don't

Red Sea in front of them.
Come on here, amen, thePharaoh's army behind other.
Amen, the Red Sea in front ofthem.
(18:48):

And said God, what are theygoing to do?
And God said glory, glory, amen.
And said Lord, take a walk tothe covenant.
Amen.
And stepped down.
Come on here Into the edge ofthe water.
And when they did, they partedhither and thither.
(19:11):
Come on here, god said.
God sent a great east wind anddried up the mud.
Praise God, I've got imagination.
Don't fall over me, over myimagination.
Imagination is the biggestnation in the world.
Yeah, you bet.
How, how, how wide is that?
I'll have a meal for myimagination.
(19:31):
Imagination is the biggestnation in the world.
Amen.
How wide does that?
Come on here.
How wide does that crossinghave to be to get six million
people over the Red Sea in onenight?
Amen.
One rider said it had to be atleast one mile wide and one said
two miles wide.
I don't know, but however wideit was.
(19:54):
Came back, god said, and heswam Amen, glory to God.
Amen, how they do the littlecity.
Glory to God.
When the old song got there, they said we can do that too.
Glory to God.
And when the old song got there, they said we can do that too.
Glory to God.
And I want to tell you theworld and the crowd thinks they
(20:15):
can do it too Amen.
But I want to tell you God, Iknow, and everyone knows, how to
take care of his children,hallelujah.
Somebody say amen.
I don't know about you all here, but you've got to have a
(20:39):
compelling desire to want moreof God than what you've got.
Amen.
Oh man, they crossed the RedSea and of course you know the
story.
Amen.
The Red Sea closed up onPharaoh and his army.

Now, what stirs my heart aboutMoses and Joshua?
They're both.
Come on here.
They're both God's men.
Come on here.
(21:22):

And wherever you see Moses, youwant to see Joshua.
Amen.
And when they got across the RedSea, the first place they went
to was Mount Sinai.
Come on here.
Somebody say amen, amen, comeon.
Come on, what's Mount Sinailike?
(21:43):
Amen, read that first verse.
I gave you.
Praise God, amen, help me here.
And it came to pass.
As Moses entered into thetabernacle, the cloudy pillar
descended and stood at the doorof the tabernacle and the Lord
talked with Moses.
Amen, that's what I want.
Praise God, yeah, lord, anybodyhappy Say amen, amen.

smoke because the Lord descendedupon it in fire and the smoke
thereof a city, that's the smokeof a furnace and the whole bank
, came back quite greatly, martin, in the first earthquake.
(22:52):
I don't know, but I know onething the children of Israel
dared not come near.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
They came back for it.
The glory of God.
Somebody say hallelujah, amen.
Verse 9 again Amen, read that.
(23:13):
And it came to pass as Mosesentered into the tabernacle.
The cloudy pillar descended andstood at the door of the

what it is Now.
I'm peeling the Holy Ghost,hallelujah.
Read that next verse I gave you.
He said I beseech thee, show methy glory.
(24:18):
And he said thou canst not seemy face, for there shall no man
see me and live.
And the Lord said behold, thereis a place by me and I shall
stand.
Amen, he already.
Come with God.
Paste the face.

(25:02):
Show me thy glory.
Amen.
I want to tell you Amen.
I want to tell you amen.
You can have this experiencewith God, but you can have
something deeper than whatyou've ever had before.
Amen.
Is anybody listening to me now?
Somebody said well, I got all Iwant without you.
(25:23):
Amen.
Bless your peeping heart.
Amen.
You ain't got enough.
Take that, because the more youget, the more you want.
Take that the more you pray, the more you want to pray.
Take that the less you pray, the less you want to pray.
Take that the more you read theBible, the more you want to
read it.
Take that the more you getabove, the more you want of him.
(25:47):
And then God said help me here.
And the more you've been around, the more you want of him.
Amen.
God said if you can't help mehere, amen.
You can't see my face in all ofhis glory.
But then what did he say?
Oh, glory, he said.
The Lord said behold, there isa place by me.
Thou shalt stand upon a rock, and it shall come to pass.
(26:10):
When my glory passes by that, Iwill put thee in the cliff of
the rock and will cover theewith my hand while I pass by,
and I will take away my hand andthou shalt see my back parts,
but my face shall not be seen.
I want to tell you have youever had a compelling desire
that you need more of God thananybody you've ever known in
(26:35):
your life?
I'm sorry to tell you, but Icome up out of the old days.
Amen.
I understand.
I was there during the years ofthe 50's and the 60's when the

There is a place beside me inthis place, moses, you've never
(27:19):
been before.
You've been on that side nowwith me, amen.
And the mountain quaked andtripled and the people saw the
fire.
Come on here.
But you've never been thisclose.
You've never seen.
Come on here.
You've never been in thiscrevice of the rock.
You've never seen me in all ofmy glory and you cannot see me
(27:42):
in my glory face.
Amen.
But I'll put you in the creviceof the rock.
Amen, and I'll pass by.
But I'll put you in the creviceof the rock and amen, and I'll
pass by, and I'll put my hand, come on here over the crevice of
the rock and when I pass by,you can see my afterglow.
(28:03):
Is anybody want more to watchyour God?
Yes, yes.
Somebody said I'd like to havethe Holy Ghost.
That's wonderful and good.
You need the.
Does anybody want more to watchyour God?
Somebody said I'd like to havethe Holy Ghost.
That's wonderful and good.
You need the Holy Ghost inthese days.
Amen, but when you get the HolyGhost.
I said something a little whileago.
I said if we can keep peoplepraying as much and as hard as
they get to get the Holy Ghost, after they get the Holy Ghost,
(28:26):
there will be a national revivalbreak out in this country,
hallelujah.
Somebody say that there's oneinitial feeling, but there's got
to be many, many refillings.
There's got to be a refillings.
There's got to be a refillings.
There's got to be a refillings.
(28:47):
There's got to be a refillings.
Amen, amen, god.
Here I am reaping it.
I'm just now in your eyes.
Amen, amen, amen, god.
I've never been in this placebefore, but I'd like to be there
, amen.
Every, every great man ofhistory that I can think of has
had that particular place thatthey can point back to and say
(29:12):
there is where I met God, amen, amen.
To Saul of Tarshish he was onthe road, come on here.
He was on the road to Damascusto persecute Christians and when
God knocked him to the ground,he came Come on here.
(29:34):
I don't know if those othersoldiers up with Saul and Tarsus
heard of it or not.
Hey man, come on here.
But God said Saul, saul, whypersecutest thou me?
You found it hard to kickagainst the prince, amen, come
on here.
Amen.
(29:54):
And Saul touched his decree,amen.
He didn't persecute him, thathe was.
Amen Turned around and said whoart thou Lord?
He knew who he was, oh, but Iwant to tell you, I fear, that
there are so many of us in ourmodern time that has never had
(30:18):
that Damascus road experience.
Amen, amen.
Isaiah.
Chapter 6.
In the year the king of Ziondied, I saw also the Lord high
lifted up and his train filledit come on here.
And the seraphims were thereand they flew amen back and
(30:41):
forth.
Glory to God, amen.
Isaiah said I am unworthy.
Isaiah was already a prophet,amen.
But when he saw God in hisglory and the throne of heaven,
praise God, he on.
Come on here.
I don't know about y'all, but Iwant to tell you I have been in
(31:10):
some places in my experiencewith God that I felt very small.
We were trying to build achurch in North Little Rock,
arkansas, in an old Jew Roytheater building Amen, then was
a difficult time.
We didn't have money to rent ahouse.
Me and my wife and our twochildren that were very, very
(31:34):
small lived in the office ofthat old Jewel Roy theater
building Amen, upstairs.
Come on, you're going to sitwith me, amen, amen.
And had no bed, amen, come on,come on.
Had're going to sit with me.
Amen, amen.
And have no bed.
Amen, come on.
Come on, have no bathtub orshower.
Amen, have a sink and a commode.
(31:55):
You ever heard of a sponge bath?
Thank you God, you don't evenknow nothing about that, but I'm
going to tell you you'll besurprised what you can do and
get by with whatever you have to.
Amen had no cook stove.
We just had that amen.
Little cook plate that had twoeyes on it.
(32:17):
Amen, come on here.
Amen.
Had an old couch, amen, thatyou'd reach down and you can get
a hold of the bottom and pickit up.
Come on here, and the backwould fall down.
And then the seat would falldown and make a makeshift bed
Amen.
And she made a pallet on thefloor concrete floor for our
(32:39):
children to sleep on.
Amen, come on, come on, come onhere, amen.
And they would sleep on thefloor one night and we'd sleep
on that old couch and then thisnight we'd sleep on the floor
and they would sleep on thecouch Amen.
We had a desire to do somethingfor God.
(32:59):
Come on here.
Somebody say, amen, I'm gettingthe Holy Ghost here.
Hallelujah, amen, amen.
And when they put them to bedand I'll go downstairs at 11, 12
o'clock at night, amen.
I'll pace back and forth acrossthat Amen, concrete wall over
(33:23):
here on this side and a blockwall over there and concrete
floor, and the stage is aboutthis high Amen.
And I'd pace back and forthacross there crying out to God
for a move of the Holy Ghost andto be used of God.
Come on here, amen.
Y'all don't know nothing aboutthis, but I'm telling you there
(33:46):
was a desire inside of me and Iwanted more of God in my hand,
hallelujah, amen, and pacingback and forth there sometime
all night, long until thedaylight, amen.
And I remember one night, oh God, help me, amen.
I was praying.
(34:07):
Oh God, moses wanted to see you.
Would you come by and let oldLD7 see you like?
Moses saw you Come on here andI got to crying and praying.
My heart was booked up, amen.
And I felt a holy presencecoming in.
Old Jew Roy.
(34:27):
It was a holy presence like inon you, lord.
It's a holy presence like Ihave never seen before or ever
felt in my life.
I've been in a lot of meetingsCome on here.
I've seen a lot of miracles, amen Take place.
I've seen the blind eyes openAmen, come on.
Come on here.
I've seen legs go out.
(34:49):
I've seen people get up, walkand run, amen.
But I never felt a holy presencelike I felt that night in that
old, ancient Jewelry Theaterbuilding.
I got to crying and praying andas that presence came down in
that old theater building, comeon here Standing.
As that presence came down inthat old theater building, come
(35:09):
over here, standing against thatbrick wall or block wall rather
, amen.
With my hands raised and tearsrunning down my cheeks, I felt
that holy, holy, holy God, lordbe with you.
I don't know if you might havethat kind of compulsion inside
(35:33):
of you that you want more of Godthan you ever had.
Hey man, come on here.
Somebody say amen, amen, Ah,I've been in Jack Cone's
meetings.
I have in Gordon Lindsay, amen, all those pictures of the back
of my ears.
But I have never felt thatpresence like there now in that
building that night.
(35:55):
Oh, it's different.
Now I want to tell you I know Ihave not sinned, I knew I had
not committed any wrong things, but when that holy presence came
down in that place that night,I felt unclean, I felt dirty.
(36:19):
Come on, I lost y'all rightthere.
Amen, I said.
I felt unclean and dirty.
And as long as that presencewas there, I won't tell you if
God brought a work in my lifethat I will never, ever forget A
(36:48):
compelling desire for God.
Everybody in our church needs afirst generation relationship
with God.
I told you three hours that maynot be very far from that.
(37:11):
The first generation that hashad that walk with God always
get this, always establishes thestandards for their Christian
(37:31):
movement.
Yeah, you get it and remember, write it down.
And it's important to realizethat the standards or the
boundaries that they set up arebased on what would keep them on
(37:54):
the path that God had calledthem to.
Boy, it's going to get tight.
Somebody had mentioned earlierin the service about personal
convictions.
I know what they are, I knowwhat the mentors are, I know
(38:17):
that and you, dear and my listPersonal convictions that's when
you are loaded with God, justyou and Him, nobody else, just
you and Him, nobody else, justyou and God.
And in that secret place of themost high God, by His Holy
(38:37):
Spirit, touches your heart andsays I want that, surrender that
, hold that up.
Hello there.
There are convictions.
Surrender that, hold that up,hello there.
Their convictions weredetermined by whether or not an
activity helps them stay on thepath that God wants them on.
(38:59):
I want to tell you it's veryeasy to get sidetracked.
This, these convictions veryeasy to get sidetracked.
These conditions has verylittle to do with whether or not
an activity is specificallydenounced as sinful in the Bible
(39:22):
.
The entire matter is determinedby whether that activity will
sidetrack you from His presence.
His presence is more valuable.
Come here.
Somebody say Amen.
(39:42):
Come on here.
I want to tell you we live in ageneration now that, by and
large, even among the holiestpeople, they don't understand
what personal inhibitions are.
Come on here and we'll get alittle tight in there.
(40:03):
So, young ones, why don't youstay with me?
We live in a generation nowthat wants to put all the
emphasis on self, our self, self.
Are you here?
How many people have you seen?
Take that thing Right there andtake a selfie of yourself.
(40:26):
Yeah, come on, I lost y'allright there.
Oh, that's so important.
Some years ago now.
I'm running in overtime alreadyand I haven't even got past the
(40:47):
first point.
Oh, years ago now, we, as aSunday night after church, we
went up to IHOP rest of themthere out on the highway from
Warrens, and we said some ofy'all might have been there, I
don't know our church group wasthere and Pittman's church and
(41:13):
him and his wife and a bunch ofthem was there, and we had all
eaten and we all had just awonderful time.
We got through eating and wejust kept shipping together and
little Pittman came over and puthis arm around me and patted me
, you know, and told me how muchhe appreciated me.
Amen, help me, lord, I'm introuble, come on.
(41:36):
Come on, amen.
And just out of nowhere, thisstrange young guy in the
restaurant over on the otherside, amen, he came running over
there with his cell phone andhe put his head down next to
mine there with his cell phone.
And he put his head down nextto mine and with his cell phone
he reached around and took aselfie of me and him together.
(41:59):
You know, I knew who he was.
Somebody said did you know whohe was?
I said I don't know who he was.
Sister Jane ran out of therestaurant because that young
fellow left real quick, amen.
(42:20):
And she said sir, who did youthink that was that you took
that picture with?
He said well, that was Bernie.
Who said that?
He said while I was burning.
He said I thought I was, butwhat did he get up to?
(42:43):
I'd love to see that on theInternet somewhere.
I'd love to see that on theinternet somewhere.
But we're living in a selfishgeneration.
Everything revolves around me.
Come on here.
(43:04):
All right, come on, I'm goingto get tight.
Ladies, come on here.
I don't think there's noscripture in the Bible that even
tells you that television iswrong.
Come on, yes, yes, come on,come on here.
No scripture even mentions theinternet, for there was no such
(43:28):
thing.
I lost you all.
We are so concerned about howpretty we are, you ladies, you
young ladies, especially, amen.
I saw help me, lord, I'm introuble here tonight.
I saw one lady.
She plucked her eyebrows out tomake herself look pretty and
(43:51):
then took a black marker and puta big archer there.
Amen, how stupid.
I'm sorry, amen.
They were interested in makingthemselves look pretty.
Whoo, amen.
But I want to tell you, amen, these men, amen, of the first
(44:14):
generation, was so interested inpleasing God, amen.
They didn't care if they had ared dress or a yellow dress or
purple, amen.
They were interested in onething and that was preaching the
(44:40):
Lord.
I've got to hurry.
I've said this many times in mychurch.
I've said this many times in mychurch Young, married people
(45:02):
are the most important age groupin any church, you see, because
they have to reach out with onehand and get a hold of my
generation.
Come on here and believe andreach back with the other hand
and get a hold of their childrenor grandchildren and say this
is the way, let's walk in it.
(45:26):
Somebody say amen, all right, second generation Elders Amen,
amen.
Can I say that they, perhapsthey are the children of the
first generation.
(45:46):
They heard the stories, amen, that Moses and Joshua told Amen.
They saw a few miracles in thewilderness journey, but not like
Moses and Joshua hadexperienced for themselves.
Come on here, amen.
(46:08):
But this second generation amenwith the children of the first
generation?
They'd heard the stories, theybelieved it too, but it wasn't
the same because they didn'thave the burning bush experience
, they didn't have the MountSinai experience, they didn't
(46:30):
have the crevice in the rockyspirits.
They believed it.
Come on here.
But there was not the power, amen, that Moses and Joshua had.
Amen, come on here.
Come on here, amen.
Could this be?
Ah, I'm dangerous right here.
Could this be the children thathas grown up in our church?
(46:54):
They can sing, they can playmusic, they can speak with
intelligence.
They've become influential,good personalities and
eventually became the ones thatpeople looked up to.
Amen.
Come on here.
Somebody say amen.
They lived reasonably good.
(47:17):
The men came some good.
Come on here.
The men came some goodstandards, which eventually
becomes the main thrust and thetheme of their church and their
preaching.
But they never been to MountSinai With God, they've never
(47:40):
been in the crevice of the rock, they've never heard God speak
to them out of the burning flesh.
If all you've got to offer thisyounger generation is standards
and a lifestyle without thepower of the Holy Ghost, power
(48:23):
will develop holiness standards.
Not here to be a standard, nota standard mode of dress,
conduct, behavior.
I'm here to believe instandards, complete standards,
mode of dress Conduct, come onhere.
Behavior, how you live.
Is anybody here to believe inthat?
And I want to tell you, ifthat's all we've got to offer,
(48:44):
amen, amen.
Now, standards, standards alonewill not produce Holy Ghost
power.
Amen Only produces lifestylesthat are powerless.
Amen, and attracts nobody.
Amen.
Did you ever stop to thinkwhatever happened to the Quakers
(49:07):
and the Shakers for the back onyears?
They lived good.
Come on here.
They were in it then.
They were spontaneous in theirliving in their time, but they
had no power and no energy intheir lives.
Amen, I want to tell you we'vegot to maintain that power
tonight.
That's connection.
(49:28):
The will is not power.
That's connection.
You need more than this.
Stand up to your lifestyle.
And because the communion andspiritual relationship in the
parable of the ghost is notcontinually updated in sincere
(49:48):
and heart-searching prayer, those convictions, those good
convictions, become or evolveinto a mere tradition without
any power.
Are you listening?
(50:14):
When conditions are not broughtby the Holy Ghost and committed
prayer, we live only by alifestyle that's most
meaningless in our generation, didn't the standard?
And I've seen this happen inolder churches.
(50:35):
Then the standard becomes ourmain thrust and our theme.
All of our preaching iscentered around.
Come on here Everybody listento me Long sleeves, long dresses
, high necks.
Come on here, amen, I lost y'.
Come on here, amen, I losty'all right there.
Amen.
(50:56):
We live on standards and that'sbecome the main thrust.
But I want to tell you amen, without the Holy Ghost's power,
amen, but no power.
Then that becomes the onlytradition.
Amen, that our convictions weregood.
There's nothing wrong with ourconvictions.
(51:16):
Traditions and standards arenot the problem.
The problem is prayerlessness.
No prayer in their life.
Come on, somebody say amen, hey, hey, hey.
Somebody say amen.
Well, what do we do?
Brother Savage, the best thingyou can do for your children is
(51:40):
to teach them to pray.
How do you teach children topray?
By praying with them.
Somebody say amen by prayingwith them.
Somebody say amen by prayingwith them and them hearing us
(52:01):
pray and calling their namebefore the throne of grace and
the power of the Spirit.
Amen.
When Jesus got through prayinghis disciples, the power of the
Spirit.
Amen.
When Jesus got through praying, his disciples came to him and
said Lord, teach us to pray LikeJohn taught his disciples to
(52:22):
pray.
And he did.
But I want to tell you it's gotto be more than just a form or
a tradition.
It's got to be an empty hell ofyourself.
Amen To the Holy Ghost powerand say Lord, help me here.
Amen.
Take anything that's not likeyou out of my life.
Amen.
(52:43):
And there's some reason that thespiritual emphasis is lost
somewhere between Joshua's deathand the passing of the elders.
These are good men.
These are good men.
Come on here.
They live good.
You can't touch their finger ontheir life anywhere.
They were elders, but there wasno path, the power Among these
(53:25):
elders.
And they are all good men, amen.
I got two more hours to go.
Amen, among these elders.
They are all good men, butthere's no leader among them.
Where there is no godly leader, there's always a gradual
(53:55):
decline in spiritual living.
I lost y'all.
Somebody say amen.
I'm not a far boy, but did youknow?
If there's no shepherd, sheepwill follow sheep they will.
I see sheep follow sheep.
(54:18):
Come on here, amen, let's lookat, let me get my mind right
there.
Amen, amen, okay, oh, slippedmy mind right there.
Amen, okay, hold on, amen.
(54:41):
Praise God.
Aren't you glad for the lastbook of Judges, the last chapter
and the last two verses?
The Bible said and every mandid that which was right in his
own eyes.
Somebody say it.
Proverbs 29.18 said when thereis no vision, the people perish.
(55:07):
We use that a lot of times formissionary services.
I'm not picking on that by anymeans, but you need to
understand what the originaltranslation was.
The literal translation waswhere there is no restraint,
that people go wild.
Where there is no leader, I cansee where this trend is leading
(55:33):
.
Come on here.
Well, there's no leader thatcan show you.
Hey, this trend, you can't findit in black and white in the
book, but it's leading you inthe wrong direction.
And where there is no, come onhere.
Where there is no restraint, where there's no boundaries.
When there is no boundaries, when nobody says you cannot go
(55:55):
beyond this point, I want totell you, the people go.
Wow, that's where we are.
In our American culture, thechurch world, we've got a
generation on our hands rightnow that has no concept about
what God wants in their life.
They're religious.
Come on life.
They're religious.
Come on here.
They're religious, amen.
(56:17):
Now for the rest of the story.
As Paul Hartwood would say Amen.
The third generation, thisgeneration right here Amen.
They did not walk with Godbecause they didn't know God.
(56:38):
There arose another generationafter the elders.
That's what the Bible said.
There arose another generationafter the elders that did not
know God.
Anybody here say amen.
(56:59):
They didn't walk with Godbecause they didn't know God.
This new generation canremember it right now.
This new generation sees nopurpose in abstaining from
something just because that'sthe way it's always been.
(57:20):
This third generation boy, theyhad a great come on here.
They had a great standard there, but I can't see.
I can't see anywhere in thebible a great standard there,
but I can't see anywhere in theBible where television is
mentioned.
Help me here.
(57:42):
Is anybody listening?
Now Say amen.
Do we understand that?
Coming from among them, beingseparate?
Thus saith the Lord.
Do we understand that you havecome out from among them?
Be ye separate?
Thus saith the Lord.
Touch not the unclean thing andI will receive you.
Love not the world, neither thethings that are in the world.
(58:05):
If any man loves the world, thelove of the Father is not in
him.
Do we understand that principle?
Father is not in him.
Do we understand that principle?
This generation doesn't,because they are a generation
that does not know God.
Come on here, invite us to sayamen.
Now I want to tell you tonightAmen, with that personal prayer.
(58:26):
This generation is in noposition to develop any
convictions at all.
They don't know God.
They never prayed, they'venever sought the face of God,
they've never had an interest inspiritual things.
They're only interested in meand myself and what pleases them
(58:48):
.
I'm on here.
Somebody say amen.
Amen.
I said what, please?
I'm on here.
Somebody say amen.
I remember Max Lucado and I.
I read one of his books someyears ago at our house at home.
My wife's got that booksomewhere amongst her stuff Amen
.
He tells a story about someprouders in the state of Florida
(59:08):
that broke into a departmentstore.
They broke into it, they didwhat they intended to do Left
and nobody even knew they hadbroke in.
Amen.
And what they did was sostrange and unusual Amen, that
nobody even noticed what hadbeen done.
(59:30):
Amen.
The next day the store openedand it functioned just as it
always had been.
For four hours that storefunctioned and nobody noticed
what the prowlers had done.
But what those prowlers did, they went and replaced
everything in the store.
(59:50):
Get over here.
They took a $3,000 price tagoff an outboard motor and put it
on a child's boot that's worth$298.
Amen, they took that stickeroff of there.
Come over here and put it onthe outboard motor.
(01:00:14):
Amen, and the storage Openedand functioned.
A lot of folks got bargains andsome got cheated Because they
replaced everything In theentire store.
Amen, and up here.
Up here, come over here.
I'm the old line If, if youdon't mind, I appear as
(01:00:34):
somebody's broken a holy storeand they repriced everything.
If you are valuable, you canslam, dunk a basketball Anybody.
Come on here.
You can make hundreds ofmillions of dollars every year
if you can take a pigskin andcost a gold mine.
(01:00:55):
Hey, hey, hey, amen.
And some of us live in Godlyand holy, amen.
They don't have time to givethem a time of day.
Amen, somebody's broken downstore and replaced everything.
Amen, somebody broke into ourstore and raped our service man.
(01:01:17):
Let me give you a little culture, this counterculture revolution
that took place in the 1960s.
I was there.
They produced the Jesus Peoplemovement You've got to be older
to remember them and that wasclosely followed by the
Charismatic Movement.
(01:01:38):
Come on here, amen, and thenhelp me here.
Both were, can I say,counter-cultural Amen.
Compared to the standard thechurch had always lived, they
(01:01:59):
were never preached.
Right Boom here.
The Jesus People Movementintroduced what we call now
Christian rock music.
If it's rock music, it ain'tChristian.
Somebody say amen.
(01:02:21):
Now I want some of y'all rightthere.
You've been listening to someof that trash.
Amen.
The charismatic movementconvinced the church world that
worldliness is acceptable andthey espoused a freedom that had
no boundaries whatsoeverbecause they had no walk with
(01:02:45):
God.
They had no God.
Amen, say amen, hallelujah, andwith time, know God, say amen,
hallelujah, hallelujah.
And what time.
We found our own people and Iwas raised up, amen, as a young
man in the church of God, thedescendants of God, the
Pentecostal holinessorganizations, and in those
(01:03:06):
years they preached holinessjust like we do now in our holy
churches.
We all still remain, but intime we found our own people
doing things they would havenever even discussed doing
before this Amen, because theydon't know God.
(01:03:27):
It's a generation that don'tknow God.
It's the second generation thatproduces the third generation.
No burning bush, no Mount Sinai, amen.
No crevice in the rock, amen.
And as a result, amen.
Such a gradual spiritualdecline until it's not even
(01:03:49):
noticed, until it's not evennoticed, until it's actually
happened.
Nobody even noticed thateverything had been repriced in
the store for four long hoursand now holiness has become a
ugly, nasty, dirty world.
Somewhere in the process we'velost our desire for lost souls
(01:04:20):
to go to hell because we have nopowerhouse condition.
From lack of prayer and the lackof prayer and subsequently lack
of personal convictions, thepresent generation base their
(01:04:42):
activities on what is or is notspecifically named in the Bible
as a sin.
Named in the Bible as a sin.
If you can't find a Bible versethat specifically prohibits it,
then it's okay.
I know a lot of people rightnow that one time were in holy
(01:05:04):
churches and they would tell youthey don't believe it like that
anymore.
They fail to realize thatthey're full of falsehoods.
They don't believe it like thatanymore.
No, no.
They fail to realize that theirforefathers based their
activities on public people andthem with that powerhouse
connection.
That's all they were concernedabout.
(01:05:25):
Worldly pleasures meant nothingto them.
They were only interested inthat powerhouse connection,
somebody say amen, amen.
The whole.
As a result, this thirdgeneration, the whole rationale
of following the ancientlandmarks is lost.
(01:05:47):
Without personal prayer, poweris lost.
Without personal prayer power,we lose our reason for even
being here and we become talents.
Now in many of our Pentecostalchurches is to come, how can I
(01:06:14):
say?
Entertained, fun-oriented.
In order to keep people comingto church and the interest in
attending our church, we havereverted to parties and socials
and things come on here, powerteams come on here, amen.
(01:06:40):
All that kind of stuff istaking the place of the real
powerhouse commission.
Because we have never been inthe greatness of the Father and
have no desire to be there.
We've become past feelings, that is, we don't even
(01:07:01):
understand when the Spirit ofthe Holy Ghost Even is bleeding
with our conduct and behaviorBecause we are having fun.
We are having fun, come on,come on.
I remember reading and I can domuch longer.
(01:07:23):
Wait, you can come, get ready.
Maybe there's a man.
He may be dead now.
His name was Thomas Trask,t-r-a-s-k.
At one time he was the GeneralSuperintendent of the Assembly
(01:07:45):
of God.
He said in his farewell speechthe last thing he told the
General Assembly and he said, Iquote, what many churches are
offering America is a newreligion guaranteed you can't go
(01:08:06):
to hell.
It requires no holiness andrequires no holiness.
He said it is a limp, spinelessChristianity that does not
confront sin for fear of beingjudgmental.
It is an impotent gospel thattells people everything is okay.
(01:08:28):
We are more concerned with theacceptance of Him than we are
with praising God.
Somebody's broken my store.
Here's the question Can werecover in the Holist Movement?
(01:08:53):
Can we recover Senator ZellMiller?
He was a senator from the stateof Georgia for years.
He finally got tired of thatliberal bunch of folks coming
into DC and so he retired.
And he wrote a book and if youcan get your hands on it I would
(01:09:15):
encourage you to read it.
It is entitled the Decline ofDecency.
Amen, the Decline of Decency byZell Miller.
I heard his interview with someof the reporters that were
interviewing him about his bookand it is a powerful book.
(01:09:39):
When you read that book youthink he's a holy scripture,
(01:10:05):
amen.
But the reporters asked himsaid Senator Miller, I knowency
and the morality in our country.
And let me ask him the questioncan we as a nation recover?
Here's what he said.
Yes, we can.
If we have the will to recover.
(01:10:25):
I'm going to tell you, as awholeness movement, we can
return to the old days of powerand pinnacles.
But you've got to have a will, you've got to have the
compulsion inside.
I want to talk more thananything else.
I've had the wholeness in mylife.
It's been great to be in a lotof long days.
I've got the Holy Ghost in mylife and I've been working in it
(01:10:46):
for a long time.
I'm over here, hey, hey, theysacrificed.
They're going to get what theyhad.
They're going to take the samething.
If we won't talk to these men, come on please, man.
Oh hallelujah, anybody believewhat I'm preaching to you
(01:11:14):
tonight?
I know what I'm preaching toyou, darling.
Oh hallelujah.
I know one piece or two.
I know that one Judges chapter 2that I read to you.
(01:11:37):
When you read down the rest ofthat chapter that I read to you
the children of Israel beingevil in the sight of the Lord
and served Baal, we know what tosay.
In the last part of verse 12amen provoked the Lord to anger.
(01:12:04):
Verse 13, they pursued the Lordand served Baal and Ashtoreth.
Verse 14, the anger of the Lordwas hot.
Verse 20, the anger of the Lordwas hot, verse 20, and the
anger of the Lord was hot.
(01:12:25):
Chapter 3, verse 8, and theanger of the Lord was hot and it
looked like there was no hopewhatsoever.
Come over here.
Somebody say amen, but in thisthird chapter, whoo, hallelujah,
judges, amen.
(01:12:45):
And the children of Israelcried unto the Lord and the Lord
come on here.
The Lord heard their cry andraised up a deliverer.
His name was Ali.
Somebody say praise the Lord,amen.
He was a nephew of Caleb.
Ha ha ha ha, amen, amen.
(01:13:09):
Come on here.
Somebody say amen, amen.
So up niggled young man, if youwill.
Amen.
Oh, what a waste.
Amen.
We got a church that's dead.
We got a church that did.
We got a church that's likethis.
We got a church that has a boomof godliness.
We can have the power of God.
(01:13:30):
Amen.
God's anger is.
Come on here, but that's a holymovement.
What are we going to do aboutit?
Hey, hey, hey.
But when the church begins topray and the people of God start
calling the young men, god'sgoing to raise up some young men
(01:13:50):
.
I thought.
When I heard these young mentestify tonight, I said Glory to
God, we've got a few off-meals.
Amen, and God is raising up forour generation.
You can hear what the Bible saysYou've got to help this child.
He's going to win, he's goingto win, he's going to win.
(01:14:12):
Somebody say amen, amen, amen.
The Bible said in the spirit ofthe Lord came upon him.
Hallelujah, I'm feeling thatpower right now.
(01:14:33):
The spirit of the Lord cameupon him, hallelujah, amen.
Does anybody listen to me?
Does anybody here want to be anoff nail?
Does anybody have a desire formore of God than what you've got
?
I know it looks like it's adirt generation now.
Amen, amongst the cost ofchurches.
(01:14:56):
Amen, for God will approve ofthis church.
Amen, I just see it, I can seeit.
Amen.
(01:15:16):
There's a Holy Ghost throughthe church.
Don't remember when Moses satdown in Egypt and all the
miracles that he performed?
Somebody say amen.
He had a raw wound here, wentinto Pharaoh's palace and said I
(01:15:42):
am the great.
I palace and said I am thegreat, I am.
Has said let my people go, well.
Say Moses, help me here.
I ain't through preaching yet,so just come on and stay with me
here.
How do I know your God is yourGod?
Well, I think they know.
How do I know your God is yourGod?
(01:16:02):
Well, I think they know.
So he dropped down and became aserpent across that marble floor
of Pharaoh's palace.
Come on, I don't like a snake,I kill everyone.
(01:16:22):
I see People say are you asnake handler?
Yes sir, I am A long-handledhoe or a double-barreled shotgun
, doesn't matter which.
Ah barrels, no big deal.
My magicians and soothsayerscan do that.
(01:16:42):
And they come in and they throwtheirs down and theirs turn to
servants Amen, come on here.
And the soothsayers andastrologers started to pick
theirs up off of that marblefloor and those said oh, no, no,
(01:17:03):

Come on, just leave mine alone.
Moses' serpents come in aroundon that marble floor.
All right, come on here.
(01:17:28):
He devoured all their suits, sothere was nothing left but
Moses.
And he picked it up and itbecame a rod again.
And there was a time when therewas only one rod or something.
(01:17:50):
There was another time whenthere was dual existence.
The world is in Moses, butbefore it's over, there's only
going to leave one left.
You can say what you want totonight.
(01:18:10):
Holiness is right.

Would you like to have morethan what you've got?
Are you hungry Really deep down, damn deep in the recesses of
