Praise you, Lord.
SPEAKER_01 (00:14):
Well, one more time.
Let's lift our hands towardheaven.
Go ahead and give God all theglory.
Give him the honor for what heis going to do in this house
tonight.
Amen.
Lord bless you abundantly.
We certainly appreciate each ofyou being in the house of God.
(00:35):
Preachers coming to be with us.
Brother Stewart to get to seehim.
And prayed for us many times.
Concerned about us.
Others have been and are.
And uh we just thank God foreach testimony tonight.
The Lord bless you abundantlyfor your testimony.
(00:58):
Okay.
Appreciate the offering.
God bless you abundantly foryour giving.
I want to get right in the Wordof God.
And that is I'm gonna go to thebook of Luke tonight, chapter
number sixteen.
(01:19):
I want to talk to us tonightconcerning about hell.
We've had those that havetestified about it.
The Holy Ghost moved on mebefore I came that maybe
tomorrow night we're goinganother route.
I don't know, but I know wherewe've headed the last two night,
(01:41):
and that is preaching to thechurch.
And as brother Mike Madisonsaid, being repeative, preaching
is reaching, and that's whatwe're doing.
We're trying to reach tonight.
I just want to read one verse ofscripture, and that is Luke 16
and 19, and we'll get on in theWord of God.
(02:01):
There was a certain rich manwhich was clothed in purple and
fine linen and faredconsumptuously every day.
And may God help me and anointme here tonight.
You may be seated.
(02:22):
And looking at this concerningthe rich man, I want you, I want
to show you uh in the own startconcerning how that there were
four requests that this manmade.
If you'll notice in verse number22, the Bible tells us, we know
(02:44):
how that uh Lazarus had died, and uh how the Bible tells us
that angels came and took him toAbraham's bosom.
And in the process of doingthat, we, you know, hell is
against us, period.
And no doubt that in a time ofdeath, the devil's gonna try to
(03:09):
do everything he can to keep usfrom making an end to the
kingdom of God.
Don't you listen to me?
For the Bible said we wrestlenot against flesh and blood, but
against principalities, againstpowers, against the rulers of
the darkness in this world, andspiritual wickedness in high
places.
(03:30):
And so how that we're lookingconcerning how that when a when
a child of God dies, now theBible tells us when the rich man
died, angels didn't come forhim.
But the word of God said whenLazarus died, sir, how that
angels came and carried him toAbraham's bosom.
(03:51):
And if you will allow metonight, maybe in total
agreement here, could I justtell us how that even in death
the devil is trying to keep usfrom the kingdom of God?
Say amen.
And that's what we find here.
The word of God tells usconcerning the rich man that he
cried out and he asked formercy.
(04:14):
He said, Would you show memercy?
The word of God tells us that hewould come.
Would you have mercy upon me?
But there is no mercy in hell.
Number two of verse number 24said in the Word of God to dip
his finger in water and coo mytongue, for I am tormented in
(04:38):
this flame.
Several years ago I preachedseveral meetings and preach camp
several times at Falk.
I remember one particularmeeting of being there.
I wasn't preaching uh that year, but just always enjoyed being in
service.
And Brother Gary Hampton waspreaching that particular
(05:01):
morning, and he had preached themessage on hell, and in the
latter part of his message, andnot knowing that he was gonna
call on me, he turned and said,I want Brother MacDonald to come
and help me and say what's onhis heart and help me in this
altar service.
(05:22):
I walked up and as I did, he hada cup of water there.
And standing there, God dealtwith my heart.
And I quoted the scripture howthat the Bible said, He said,
Let him dip his finger in waterand coo my tongue, for I'm
tormented in this flame.
And I remember that morning thatI took my finger and put it in
(05:46):
there and held it up to hundredsthat were in that service.
I said, There's not much wateron the tip of one's finger.
There's not much water.
And as I stood there, the HolyGhost made it real to me.
And God spoke to my heart andsaid these words, and I said it
to those people.
What he was saying is that if Icould get just get a drop of
(06:09):
water today, you know what thatwould mean?
It would mean hope.
If I could just get a drop ofwater today, the next day I'll
get a teaspoon.
The next day I'll be able maybeto get a tablespoon.
The next day perhaps a cup full.
But can I tell you there is nowater in hell?
(06:29):
There is no hope in hell.
And then he asks a question.
He said, made a request thatLazarus would go back and
testify to his brethren.
And the word of God tells usthat Abraham spoke to him, and I
love this.
If they would not hear them, listen, I but could I tell us
(06:51):
that the prayers are unansweredin hell?
They're unanswered in hell.
And on and on and on concerningthe things that he spoke about.
I want to talk to us tonightabout this place called hell.
We read and I won't ask just aquestion tonight.
If the church, and the brothersalready made mention tonight, if
(07:13):
the church, if the church agebelieves in hell, why does the
church age live as though thereis no hell?
I mean, if the church todayreally believed in hell, why are
we living as though there was nohell?
And why is the church saying andliving as though there was no
(07:35):
hell?
I read concerning a man namedElbert Muncie.
Elbert Muncy was a man severalyears ago in the 1800s.
Was saved when he was 17 yearsold, preached for 44 years.
And the Knoxville Tribune saidthese words about him.
(07:56):
Said he was the most eloquentpulpit orator of the South, this
man.
It made mentions, he said thesewords.
In these dark, desperate days weneed preaching on death is sure,
hell is hot, eternity isforever.
(08:22):
I love that.
Sin is the reason.
Christ is the cure.
This man, I want to look at thestatements that he said to us.
He said, Death is sure.
And could I tell you and Itonight death is a sure thing?
Just as sure when a man or womanis born, they start toward that
(08:46):
place of death.
Eventually there'll come a time.
I have preached in forty someodd years of preaching.
I have preached many, manyfunerals.
I preached funerals of babies.
I preached funerals ofteenagers, and then likewise
those in the midtime of theirlife and elderly men and women.
(09:09):
I know what it is to preachfunerals of two people, you
know, two at a time sometimes.
And on and on and on.
But the thing is, sir, there'llcome a time as sure as I'm born
that I'm going to die.
I've seen the time that I'vebeen in convalescent homes.
(09:30):
I've seen the time that I'vebeen there standing outside of a
room, and it was though youcould almost feel death.
Death was walking down thehallway.
Death was coming down a cornerand going to walk in the room.
That card has been pulled, andit was time that God said, Your
(09:53):
time is up.
You know, you've heard the storyconcerning Queen Elizabeth in
days gone by.
And in the process of hearingthat, she looked and said these
words to the physician that wasthere with her and said, Could
you give me more time?
He said, You don't have any moretime.
(10:14):
She said, All my crown jewels Iwould give for one more moment
of time.
I've stood by the bedside, sir,of many saints.
I've stood by the bedside ofthose that weren't prepared to
meet God.
And I'm telling you, it's ahorrible thing.
(10:34):
I've seen them enter intoeternity without God.
I've seen them slip out of thisworld without God, knowing that
they were going to meet theirmaker.
And the writer said, Death issure.
Death is sure.
And hell is hot.
Hell is hot.
I mean a place that spoke aboutouter darkness.
(10:58):
Hell is a place of outerdarkness.
Hell is a place where anindividual will be continually
falling, sir.
Hell, I want you to look at thistonight.
I want to read this to youtonight.
Hell the prison house ofdespair.
Here's some things that won't bethere.
(11:19):
No flowers will bloom on thebanks of hell, no beauties of
nature we love so well, nocomforts of home, music and
song, no friendship of joy willbe found in that throne, no
children to brighten the longweary night, no love nor peace
(11:41):
nor one ray of light.
No bloodwashed soul with beamingface bright, no loving smile in
that region of night, no mercy,no pity, no pardon, no grace, no
water, oh God, what a terribleplace the pains of the lost no
(12:03):
human can tell.
Not one moment's ease.
There is no rest in hell.
Hell the pleas present house ofdespair.
Here's some things that will bethere.
Fire and brimstone are there weknow, for God in his word has
told us so.
(12:25):
Mercy, remorse or memory, remorse, suffering and pain,
weeping and wailing, but all invain blasphemers, swearers,
haters of God, Christ rejectors, while here on earth trod,
murders and gamblers anddrunkards and liars will have
(12:47):
their part in the lake of fire, the filthy, the vow, the cruel
and the mean.
What a horrible mob in hell willbe seen.
All the torments of eternal woesand eternal hell.
There is a literal burning hell.
(13:09):
Eternity.
Listen to it.
Eternity.
In your Bible, sir, there's onlyone place in the Word of God
you're going to find the wordeternity.
And that's in the book ofIsaiah, chapter 57.
I was in service with a preciouspreacher man uh two or three
(13:30):
weeks ago, a couple of weeksago, and he preached a message
on eternity.
He preached an outstandingmessage.
And a young preacher, and I saythat very respectively, was
sitting next to me, and I said,You know, eternity is only one
time mentioned in the word ofGod.
Like the word determination.
(13:50):
That's the only one time in theword of God, determination.
And I said, it's only one time,eternity.
And when I said that, you know,he tapped me on the shoulder.
He said, Why?
Why would God put it just onetime?
I said, That's it, son.
You've got one time around toget ready for eternity, period.
(14:14):
You've got one time around to beready for eternity.
You know, and he said, eternity.
Listen what it said.
I love what one man said aboutthat.
Hell and eternity are real.
Hell and eternity are real.
Eternity, O God, has wound upthy clock.
(14:35):
It will never run down.
Its ticking, its beatings willbe heard by the laws throughout
eternity.
And it will be ticking forever.
Forever?
Forever.
Forever.
The ticking of the clock thatwill be wound and has been wound
(14:59):
up.
There is no beginning, sir.
There is no beginning in thebeginning.
God.
When did it begin?
It's always been.
Always will be.
Throughout in infinity,infinity, forever, eternity.
Time without beginning or end.
(15:19):
The endless time after death.
To know that part that I diedand went to hell without God
forever.
And forever.
And forever and ever and ever.
It'll never stop.
It'll never stop.
I mean that clock continuallyticking.
(15:41):
That clock continually going.
Forever and forever and forever.
It said here death is sure.
Hell is hot.
Eternity forever.
Sin is the reason.
Sin is the reason.
(16:02):
Sin, it happened in the Word ofGod.
The Bible tells us in one placehow that he crouches at the
door.
And cannot tell us sin, but Ilove this.
Christ, thank God, Christ is thecure.
I mean, Christ can take care ofany sin.
Doesn't make a difference who weare.
(16:22):
Doesn't make a difference howfar in sin we've gone.
I'm telling you, I love this.
Jesus said in the Word of God,He said, I do cures.
Tomorrow, thank God, I'll docures continually.
You know, when Christ was on thecross, the Bible said, He said,
It is finished.
And sir, could I tell you whenhe said it is finished, he
(16:46):
turned it over to the church.
It's up to you and I now, whatare we gonna do?
But the Bible tells us inRevelation chapter 21, he says,
it is done.
It is done.
Thank God.
I want to shout in the mouth ofhell tonight.
Thank God he's gonna doremedies, he's gonna do cures
(17:07):
until he said, It is done.
Somebody said, I've done this.
You'll never know the sins thatI have committed.
You'll never know what I havedone.
I have sat in the presence ofmen that it took other men's
lives, sir.
I've sat in the presence ofthose that have lived hard
(17:29):
lives.
I lived a hard life, but I wantto shout it tonight.
He's still in the slavingbusiness.
I said he's still in the slavingbusiness.
No matter what we have done, nomatter how we have lived, no
matter how far in sin we havegone.
The Bible tells us the blood ofJesus Christ, his son cleanses
(17:53):
us from all sin.
I love it.
Thank God, every sin that we'veever committed, everything that
we have ever done, he's still inthe saving business.
The Word of God talks aboutthose that were effeminate and
on and on and on.
And Paul said, and such weresome of you.
(18:16):
And such were some of you.
Thank God for the saving graceof Christ of picking people up,
and God will move in hearts andlives.
I've been there, I've beenaround those.
I pastored a lady years ago whomoved in our area, came in,
(18:38):
moved down to take care of herdad, an elderly gentleman, come
to find out she had been astreet walker at one time, had
been in the penitentiary, hadeven uh had been shot and
everything else.
We'd gone and handed out tracksin that community.
And you wonder sometimes, willit pay off?
(19:00):
I mean what we're doing.
We hand out hundreds of tracks, and just here a while back we
visited 200 homes in oneSaturday morning, sir.
Abyssing and handing out tracks.
Time went by, and on a Sundaymorning this lady called me and
said, Pastor MacDonald, we wantto come.
Won't you know if we are wewelcome?
(19:21):
I said, Lady, you're welcome.
I'm telling you, she came andcommitted her heart and life to
God.
I love it, don't you?
Thank God I love it because hesaid, Whosoever will.
Buy it without money, thank Godbuy it without price.
No matter how far in sin we havegone, will God forgive me?
(19:44):
Yes, he will.
Will he save me?
Yes, yes, he will.
The Bible said it's not God'swill that any should perish.
But all come to repentance.
The devil's desire tonight is totell you that God will not save,
that God will not deliver, thatGod will not pull you out.
(20:06):
We've got people sitting heretonight that if hell had his
way, you'd be in eternity lostwithout God tonight.
Lost without God.
But thank God for anopportunity.
Thank God for a chance.
I never will forget.
Several years ago, one of myneighbors had called and asked
(20:28):
me, said, and my grandmotherdid.
She said, My grandson, and is inthe hospital.
He's about 15 years old, bornwith a heart murmur, and really
he had lived beyond the timethat doctors had said he would
live.
He had gone to school at thattime with Shad and Shannon.
And I remember I walked in, hisdad was an alcoholic.
(20:51):
You couldn't hardly walk in theman, walk up the driveway
without kicking beer cans out ofthe way of where that young man
lived.
I remember I walked in, the HolyGhost had spoken to me.
I walked in, that boy layingthere, his eyes almost swell
shut, and his face all swelledup, and the doctors had told
(21:11):
him, said it's only a matter oftime.
He may live throughout the day,he may not live throughout the
day.
And his dad was there, had hishead down on the bed, mother
standing over the side, and hisbrother was there.
And I stood there and I walkedover to him and I spoke to him
and I introduced myself.
I said, you know, he said, Yes,sir, I know you.
(21:34):
I know you.
I go to I go to school with Shadand Shannon.
I said, that's right.
I said, I'll ask you a question,son.
I said, you're going to die.
You know, it comes a time.
You got to be frank with me.
It comes a time.
I said, you are going to die.
And my question is, are youready to meet God?
Are you saved?
He said, No, sir.
(21:56):
I'm not ready to meet God.
I said, Do you want to be saved?
He said, Yes, I do.
I'm telling you, the presence ofheaven came down in that room.
The presence of heaven camedown.
The rescuer came.
Christ came.
Emmanuel, God with us came.
Salvation came in that room.
I left and went home.
(22:17):
Could I tell you in just amatter of hours, his grandmother
called and said, BrotherMacDonald called his name.
Said he passed away.
Would you preach his funeral?
Hear me, friend.
I said, sure I will.
Great God of heaven.
You know, God is reaching, trying to bring sinners out,
trying to move, trying.
(22:38):
I've gone and talked to people, sir, and told them, said, God
sent me here.
I went to a man, I rented by youlast night, and the next person,
hear me?
Three people God told me thatnever to pray for them again.
Don't ever pray for them again.
One of them's in hell tonight.
(22:59):
The other two are on their wayto hell.
Why?
Because they reached thatdeadline with God.
But I'm glad tonight, thank God,that the blood of Jesus Christ
is stunning, is still reaching.
The blood of Jesus Christ isstunning, is still pulling for
souls that are lost.
Christ, Christ, made mentionconcerning, he made one of the
(23:23):
worst and spoke one of the worstdefinitions of hell than anybody
ever did.
Christ Himself.
I want to read it to you.
The word of God tells us, listento it.
The word of God said, if thyhand offend thee, cut it off.
It is better for thee to enterinto life main than having two
(23:46):
hands than to go to hell.
That's what he said.
He said, You know how bad hellis.
(24:21):
What is it?
What is it that your hand isgoing to call you to miss out
with God?
What is it that you are doing?
What is it tonight?
Hear me.
What is it tonight that God hasspoken to you time and time
(24:41):
again and said, That that you'redoing?
That that you're doing with thatindex, thank you.
That tonight, what are youdoing?
That hand tonight's causing youto sin.
That hand tonight's gonna costyou your life with Christ.
And Jesus said in the word ofGod, if thy foot offend thee,
(25:05):
you cut it off.
Can you imagine that?
If your foot is offended, youcut it off.
Where am I going?
Where am I going that I shouldnot be going?
How many times has he said, don't go there anymore?
(25:27):
How many times have you vowedand said, God, I vow to you,
I'll not go there?
How many times have you saidI'll not do that?
And then he tells us in the Wordof God, he said, if thine eye
offend thee, you pluck it out.
I mean, he is saying, You don'twant to go to hell.
(25:47):
He is saying, cut off thesources of temptation.
That's what he's saying.
What is it tonight that I'mlooking at?
What is it tonight?
Hear me, church.
What is it tonight?
The Bible tells us in the Wordof God in the book of
Lamentation, mine eye hasaffected my heart.
My eye have affected my heart.
(26:09):
What is it that I'm looking at?
What is it tonight that I am soinvolved in the filth and the
things of this life?
We're living in such a damnabletime.
You know that?
We're living in a time tonight,I'm telling you, of sin, sex,
ungodliness, and filth going onthroughout our land.
(26:33):
Hell is trying to selleverything he can to us.
In the book of Romans, it talksabout gave them up to
uncleanness.
God gave them up to vowaffection.
God gave them over to areprobate mind.
(26:55):
You know what he tells us in thelast verse of that?
Who knowing the judgment of God,that they which commit such
things are worthy of death, notonly do the same, but have
pleasure in them that is away.
(28:17):
And then the hurricane came in.
Shannon wrote it out in thechurch, brother.
We were there when three foot ofwater came in.
Trees falling everywhere.
The next day, we were there andone of the water was up.
We was living in the trailer atthat time.
(28:38):
And water had already come upover a four-foot fence coming in
and come into the trailer in ourhouse, our home.
And one of my men had a 22-footskill.
And it was late in the evening.
And one of my sons said, Dad,we'll take care of this.
Me and the church will take careof it.
(29:00):
We'll get all the furniture out,Daddy.
You need to go to the hospitaland check on your mother.
Don't you listen?
I didn't have anything under amattress I was worrying about me
and in my church finding.
There wasn't nothing hid in thecloset, sir, that I'd worrying
(29:23):
about my son finding in myhouse.
Come on now.
Thank God.
You looking at a sanctified manhere.
Thank God of heaven.
If my eye offends me, look itout.
What am I watching?
Where am I going?
What am I doing?
(29:44):
What am I doing?
That God said, You need to quitdoing it.
You need to quit going there.
You need to quit watching that.
Hell is not worth it, sir.
Hell is not worth it.
Brother C.
C.
Johnson, I'm closing with this.
(30:05):
Brother C.
C.
Johnson, a precious preacher ofdays gone by.
I heard him tell concerning howthat he was preached the revival
at a certain church.
And that week, first night, ayoung man came up to him feeling
(30:27):
Holy Ghost convicted.
And that first night, he came tohim at the churches over here.
He said, Brother Johnson, Idon't want to go to hell.
Brother C C I don't want to goto hell.
And Brother Johnson preachingand reaching for the lost every
night.
All the way to every night, thatyoung man in his 18 years old
(30:50):
tell him I don't want to go tohell.
And they were the clothes thatSunday night, Brother Johnson
spoke to the pastor.
I feel like going on.
He said, let's go on a few morenights, man.
Monday night, Tuesday night.
That young man in church withhim, Wednesday night, Wednesday
(31:11):
night.
He wasn't there.
He said I started to turn andsay something to the pastor
about it.
And wanted someone else to comeup and spoke to me right before
service.
I don't ask him where it wasover at.
And he said he just walked off, went ahead and conducted the
service after service was overwith.
I asked him, I said, where wasthe young man?
(31:31):
He said, You remember?
Last year night, another youngman, young lady been coming with
him.
He said, I certainly rememberthat.
He said, Brother Johnson, Ididn't want to tell you.
But I got a phone call rightbefore service.
They were all three drinking.
They got in an argument.
Got in an argument over thatgirl.
That boy took a gun and blewthat other boy's brain.
(31:56):
Did I tell you he didn't want togo to hell, but he did.
You're in the town tonight.
My question is.
Are you right with God?
My question is, anything youholding on to?
Is there anything tonight?
You know, we cannot.
(32:16):
We cannot put anything beforeGod.
I must make up my mind that Godyou're first.
I must make up my mind.
I'm going to heaven.
I'm telling you, eternity istaken away.
Eternity is taken away.
Ten years from now.
A hundred years from now, amillion years from now, to know
(32:40):
that I'm lost and never get outof hell.
Are you ready tonight?
Are you prepared to meet Godtonight?
I wonder why I'll ever hit mytonight this house.
I want you praying with me,church.
God tonight, I'm asking you,God, lead a woman in my god, our
(33:01):
sister might be coming with astone tonight.
Why God picked your heart?
My question is, are you ready tomake God?
Do you know without a shot of adoubt in your mind that you're
prepared to meet God?
And then I wanna ask every oneof us and it's doing tonight.
Is there anything that I'mholding on to?
(33:24):
Is there anything or not thatGod has convicted me of?
Everything can not that God hasbeen talking to me about.
And so I want you to quit doingthat.
I want you to quit doing that.
I want you to get rid of that.
That is a temptation of you thatyou're looking at.
(33:45):
I want you to do away with it.
I want it tonight, can I see onehand in this building?
And you say, Preacher, man, Godis double me in this turn.
I need to get closer to God.
I wanna see a hand in thisbuilding.
Thank God for that.
That one.
That one.
That one.
I need God, thank God for thathand.
(34:06):
I see it tonight.
I need God.
I don't wanna I don't wanna goto hell, Preacher.
I don't wanna die long.
I want you to stand with me allover this build.
I want you look at You check aknife Gotcha Gotcha Better Young
(34:49):
we're gonna we mature upyesterday.
(36:04):
Roach you had never holy ghostin the heart away for that wife.
