The Terriers built a 4-0 lead after the first period and extended it to 6-0 before Providence got on the board. BU netminder Mikhail Yegorov stopped 34 shots in the victory. The Terriers will host a quarterfinal game in the Hockey East Tournament on March 15.
UConn wrapped up the regular season with a 4-1 win over Vermont, clinching the No. 4 seed in the Hockey East playoffs.
