Speaker 1 (02:13):
How are you doing on this Monday Friday for our
listeners or whenever they're listening. All right, it is Monday. Yeah,
very schedule. Huh, everything's crazy.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I mean I'm good. I'm tired, but I'm good.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah. Well I'm glad you're good. What guy, you feeling tired?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Well, I mean we've been NonStop since last when Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
so seven days. Yeah, I have had guests, I've hiked
Mountain Catten. I'm still in this prep. I'm like at
the end of it. I know, right, I have my

(02:55):
team retreat. I got Amy here.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
So yeah, I be in the office with you now.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
She's I think she's going to go for a walk
a nice Yeah, it's a little rainy out.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
So I saw that on you guys as stories. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
you've been busy. We've been busy. But yeah, being being
tired is understandable. Right now. Good news is this phase
of your life it's going to be wrapping up soon
and you move on to the next phase of your life.
And that's with many things right with your with your

(03:25):
prep team coming into this week for your retreats, your
photo shoots, and then of course, you know, we just
crushed Man Katat and so a lot of things going
on there that are very energy demanding.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
I don't do when I have a lot of things
going on mentally, I do not do well.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
No, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I just it's like it's too much. Maybe it's because
of this prep. There's a lot of like I'm I'm
fucking done at deciding. I feel like I'm thinking too
much right now, you know what I mean, Like I
can't I can't fully enjoy myself because I'm consistently fucking
thinking about the next thing, like the next meal, the
next you know it spent.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
It's been a while.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I saw firsthand this week this week you did and
that that was exhausting.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yeah, just well, if I'm being honest, it wasn't exhausting
for me, right, but I know good. It really does
show you, I know, like I've been around that type
of dieting before. You know, it's just a good reminder
for me, Like holy shit, that is like you have
to be really super dialed in and you do have
to be constantly thinking about your one meal, two meals. Hell.

(04:29):
I mean it was we were joking about this, you
and Amy and myself, but it was like Tuesday and
we were already talking about your guys' meals for Friday.
But that's the level of detail, like you guys have
to have figured out, yeah, because getting really right.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
So those are that are just listening, I'm talking about
my bikini prep and how I actually had to be
even diligent during my hike. So I like the meals before,
I mean, I had specific calories. I was in maintenance,
but I had to have specific macros and all that stuff.
And during the hike, whatever I ate in the mountain
didn't matter, but I still had to come home and
make my meal that I would have already had, Like

(05:04):
I there was no going to like get pizza or
anything like that. And we just did like the hardest
fucking thing you could imagine, right, and very physically demanding
as well as mentally demanding, mentally demanding, and with hikes like.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
This, it really is about the fuel.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
And then after it's like, you know, food is also
is also happiness and shit, like you celebrate. You just
did that fucking hard climb. Let's get some fucking yummy
ass pizza, you know.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
What I mean.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
So there wasn't any of that, even though my meal
was really good. It's just different.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
And I mentioned this yesterday, Like the food that you
ate was good, like all the food you've been eating
with tastes. Yeah, but at the same time, it doesn't
light off those receptors in our brains that the right
pathways and the feel good chemicals, the dopamine shit, right, Yeah,
it just doesn't.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
So and just like think about like other hikes we've done, Matt,
you know it really it's about the snacks, Like we
all have our snacks, like we're trading snacks.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
You know.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
It's just a fucking event, right, And it's like event
about demanding physical activity, outdoors shit and all that. But
also there's a lot of food involved. It's it was
a different experience in that aspect.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, this is the first time you've been in a
deficit like that on one of the Yah Gotten hike, right, Yeah,
so I'm sure we'll get into that. Definitely want to
dive into the monket and experience. Yeah, yeah, just being
around you guys, see how dialed in. I want to
say like I said this on my stories yesterday or
day before. I'm proud of you guys. Like, it's not easy,
thanks Matt, It's really, it's really isn't easy. So anybody
like fucking easy, even as you know fellow as coaches

(06:39):
and professionals in this industry, it's not easy, especially like
with you know, with your plan that you guys have,
it's day to day, right, so your your protocol is
changing day to day, so you're communicating with your coach
and everything like that.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
So yeah, well we have our specific plan for the week,
but she's because it's the at the end, it's very
it's way more detailed than it was. Like it's more
we didn't have like specific things we needed to do
around our workouts or you know, as in meals. But
we are for the last few days. So it's all
about filling those muscles up.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
So getting that look.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah, so we're not we're no longer in a deficit.
We're I'm on my refeed days.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Nice and so today's Monday is to shoot Wednesday, Thursday, Thursday, okay,
so you're in maintenance until then, refilling yourself.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Yeah, we're just the deficits.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Over Okay, let's go. You did it, and.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
People are like, so, what are you going to do?
Right with the deficits over what's your first thing that
you want to eat?

Speaker 2 (07:38):
And honestly, like, I don't really have something that I
want I can't wait to eat, Like what something?

Speaker 1 (07:43):
What is something that something that you did that you're
not going to be like You're probably not gonna eat
some of those repeats.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
I mean, like, I honestly don't want to like like
have a fucking binge fest?

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Do you know what I'm saying?

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Like that's no, But I don't really have something specific
in mind that I can't wait till, like I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Maybe it's if you do a good job of making
foods fit this, like for the most done that, but
then you've also found good alternatives to the foods that
you do enjoy.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything until
I go to the grocery store and see it m
okay or you know, like like if I'm at Walmart
all those things.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Yeah, like exactly So for everybody listening. This weekend, Beth
took myself, Coach Amy and her family, and Mike, Mike
and Johnny to a main fair. It was really cool,
such a such a like I don't know what was
the best way to describe it. Like a main fair
is not like it's so much just it's a fair
county fair, but it's like so much smaller and just
more knits and it's not like chaotic fair that I'm

(08:43):
used to, and where.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Like a small town fair, right, small town winds Are
fair in Maine.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
But it's like our biggest, one of our biggest.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Fairs, right, But it's just like really good food crafts.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Right. I spent I did labs look finding the best food, like, Okay,
what am I gonna eat?

Speaker 3 (09:00):
I know, what did you have?

Speaker 1 (09:02):
I ended up going with the Nashville Hot chicken mac
and cheese baby yeah deep. And then a classic funnel cake, Yes, I.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Mean the funnel cake. You know everyone has to get.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
A funnel cake, right yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
And then my son who every year the only place
he can get a bloomin onion is the Windsor Fair.
So first thing, he's like, where's the bluemin onion? Where's
the blue onion?

Speaker 1 (09:22):
You know?

Speaker 2 (09:23):
And for those that are like, well can't you get
a bluemin onion? No, da da da da no I
live in the fucking Maine. Okay, we don't have an
outback steakhouse. We don't have wherever you can get a
fucking bloomin onion. It's not near me. So I'm really, oh,
I'm any bump.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Fuck you guys.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
I don't think people realize, Like it takes me an
hour and a half to go get Matt at the airport.
He has never seen a target near me. I think
he's only been in the Walmart or Hannah Fords, right.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Hannah Ferds. I don't even know if I'm done Walmart.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
But he's been to our any bitty Maine sport.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Yeah. I love that little store.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah, I know. Right.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
We went in there and what was that Tuesday or
Wednesday morning? When in those fucking days and it was
Wednesday I think, and the guy was asking us what
we're doing. We're like, oh, good, we're gonna go do
Katada and he's like, you're not doing that today, are
just way too late in the day. We're like, no, dude,
like it's already noon, Like we won't even be the
no our first rodeo. But but I appreciate that, like,

(10:24):
you know, because people don't have that common sense and
think about that sometimes and like they get they try
to go do a Mount Katat and late in the
day with no prep and then they find themselves stranded
or something. So yeah, yeah, anyway, so you read your
your prep is wrapping up. Really excited for you.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Yeah, I'm excited for the photos and everything. This is
what what we did this for.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
So yeah, I mean you and Amy like I got it.
Like y'all are just like some walking bitches and some
calorie deficit like meal planning. That's pretty much has been
your life.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
So witness that firsthand.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
I did. I did for sure, So it was cold
to look at it from that perspect like on the outside. Yep,
I didn go with you on all your walks. It's like, no,
I'm good, I'm going to I went on most of them, but.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Like right, I'm on one right now, I'm on the
walking pad right now, you guys.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Yep. So I'm going to call myself out here a
little bit on last week's episode. First and foremost, I
want to mention our audio on our last episode, it
wasn't necessarily one hundred percent like on like, we're not
known for our audio quality anyway, We're not professionals, but
we did. We all recorded with each other in person life.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
What is a professional though, Matt, Like, what is your
definition of a professional? If I know, having good fucking
like sound quality.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
I don't know somebody does this for a living or something.
I don't know professionals.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Anyway, I agree, we're just us and we do the
best we can and we don't obsess about sound.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Okay, I think people if we were to obsess about it.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
I want to be very clear, like nobody complained about it.
But what I wanted to say was like our audio
wasn't perfect, and we don't expect profess from ourselves, and
that's kind of like on brand with us is like
we did the episode anyway. We did a messy right
and that allowed us to be consistent and get something out. Yeah,
it was a great quality episode, like the material, the
content was great. Do it fucking messy exactly? Now? Calling

(12:16):
myself out on last week's podcast, I was like, yeah,
I'm gonna go. I'm going to go for a run
next day after after Catatin right, mm hmm. Diane actually
messaged me on Facebook or Instagram. She's like, hey, Matt,
just how you feeling? How you doing. I've been looking
for your run to pop up today. I've seen it
and I'm like, yeah, I'm like, I'm like, I gotta say,
Beth was right. I didn't go on my run. I
listened to my body and I decided to rest. Could

(12:38):
I have gone on my run, Yes, but it would
have not like what was what? It would have been
the point other than the fact, like my ego, like
I said, I'm going to do it, So I did it.
You know right, body needed the rest.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
And there's no fucking around after you hike Mount Catten.
I can't wait to get into that. Like talk about that.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Mountain, Well, let's fucking get into it.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
I think we should.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Let's do it. So Mount katat and this is my
second time with you on it, and then ninth tenth time.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
I think it's my tense.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
I believe I have been hiking kittat In since I
was one year sober. I hiked Mount Katada and I said,
you know, I'm going to hike Mount cantat In every
year that i'm sober.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
So I've been doing that except.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Actually the last two years since Matt had that incident
where we hiked and he fell, I have been hiked
since then. That was twenty twenty two, and so now
I'm like, you know, it's my ten year. I feel
like I should like I really feel like that, you know,
it's kind of it's a big monumental year.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Yeah, so I'm like, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
So Matt and Amy wanted to do it because we
were supposed to do it with Teambff and it rained
and there's no hiking in the rain on that mountain
last year.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
You're supposed to do that.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Right twenty twenty three?

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Oh gotcha?

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Okay, Yeah, And so she came and my friend Mandy,
who has been hiking Mount Katata with me for a
while came as well.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
So, yeah, it was a great time. It was a
great time. Yeah, good good first experience for Amy. For sure,
she has some thoughts about it, but I feel like
she's very account feels very accomplished and proud probably of
it because we did it. Oh yeah, yeah, great success,
great success. So wait, we did the Hunt Trail.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Right, Hunts Trail, which is on the katat and Streams
side of Baxter State Park. So you go up Hunts
Trail and then you go right to the peak and
then you can either take Hunts Trail down or a ball,
which I have only taken Hunts trail.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
And here's the thing, the a word.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Of mouth throughout the trail with our trail peeps who
are hiking that day. Right, you meet a bunch of
people and you know, we get talking like where which
way you going down? And they're like, well, a ball
is so much easier than going back down Hunts trail,
and I'm like, I don't know about that. I've heard
that a ball is really steep, and why I've never
fucking hiked that trail. It's the only trail up until

(14:58):
the other day that I've never touched.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
I have heard that it's very fucking steep. And so
when these.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
People are like, it's the easiest way down, it's super quick,
and I'm like, hmmm, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
All right, let's try it. Fuck it right. So we do,
and it, like.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
I said, it's fucking steep as buck, Okay, got it,
Nothing quick about it. The only thing, yeah, shaving miles
is you're you're not you're not walking as many miles,
but you're paying for it with your descent. I mean, brutal.
It's two point eight miles down taken able, it's five
point two up taking hunt. It's all rock, it's all rock,

(15:37):
and you just elevation doubled, your elevation drop with with
that able hiked down, so it's a lot steeper.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah, you know, everyone's like, yeah, hiking, Yeah, I can't.
I would love to hike that. I just want to
be brutally honest when when people say you're hiking Mount
Patad and you're not going through a fucking forest of
dirt trail. Okay, you are bouldering, you are rock climbing,
you are rocks scrambling, you are fucking your heart is

(16:04):
in your throat the whole entire time. Okay, you are
basically on the fucking StairMaster. You're on the rocks of
a StairMaster.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Okay, even when you before you get so like, there's
two parts of like a hike, right, there's there's when
you're in the alpine, when you're in the trees, and
then when you get free line, which is those are
completely different hikes.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yeah yeah, right, right, right, so.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Two hikes and one So like hiking through the woods,
there's no easy way to get into hiking a mountain.
You just right away you start just climbing. Yeah, yeah,
and then once you get out of the tree line,
that's when like the real fun beginnings, and that's the
rock scrambling and and bouldering.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
Follow the blue blaze, Matt, follow blue blaze?

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Right?

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Was it white? Was it blue blazes? On blue?

Speaker 3 (16:50):
White blazes? And the blue wasn't the way down? And it's
like you really have to pay attention to the fucking.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Blue blazes, man, real quickly, for real, I mean, And
it's like, really it takes a lot of mental thought
process because you are every step you take is.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
A step that you don't want to fucking fall. Right.
That's like you're not only taking that step, but you're
also planning your next couple of steps. Right. They're not
hiking paths. You're you're literally walking climbing up fucking a
big path of rocks up a mountain.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Only thing that guide is guiding you is a fucking
stripe on the rock, and you're following that.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
You have a big blue stripe or a big white
stripe one hundred feet up above me. I just got
to find my own path up.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
I have to get there, yay.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
And a lot of the rocks will have metal rungs
so you can climb up them. Like, it really helps
to have, like Matt, a group of people so people
can hoist each other up. It takes a lot of
teamwork for this mountain. I have found one hund.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Yeah, what was the group experience like for you?

Speaker 2 (17:49):
I know I've done a bunch of group experiences, but
I think when me and Mandy did it, just the
two of us, it was really hard. And that's when
I was like, there is that one part. I'm like,
we were like sitting there crying because we didn't have
anyone to help.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Hoist us up.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
It was just like me getting in the wrongs and
like lifting my leg up in this boulder and hoping
that I can.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Get up there, hoping you have the mobility and strength.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Yeah, so it's like you need other people to help,
like someone that's actually taller, you know that kind of thing.
Being tall in that mountain really helps. Yeah, you're doing
a lot of lunging and one leg and shit where
you're having You're lifting one leg up to the next
rock and you're basically pushing all your force in that

(18:35):
one leg with your arms.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Good mobility, good core strength, good cardiovascular health, and endurance.
So just to put.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
That, it's a bucket list hike that I wish everyone
like that's a good thing to like gear up for
to train for. I think, yeah, I'd be like, hey,
I would love to pike them out pe Toaden one day.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
That that's definitely something you would have to train for. I.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Yeah, I don't just move out to the town and
never having trained the day in your life or hike
to day in your life, right for sure. Yeah, So
I think I love the I just love the group
component of hiking, right, Yeah, me too, camaraderie, getting to
know each other better, supporting each other, pushing each other,
you know, like you hopefully it's okay and I talk
about it, but you were struggling early on, like mentally

(19:21):
with like damn, this fucking sucks. Oh yeah, I didn't
want to do it.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Well yeah, well I know how fucking hard it was,
and I mentally I was not prepared to do I
did not want to do hard things because I was
already currently I'm in the midst of doing something that's
been really fucking hard, and so the mental capacity I
just didn't have. You have to have a lot of
like mental fortitude for this hike.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Honestly, yeah, because you knew that.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
I got a little bit of a.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Fucking breakdown because I'm like, Jesus fuck man, Like this
is so hard and I know that I have like
nine more hours of this shit? Do I want to
do this? You know, you get to that place it's
like is this even worth it anymore? I contemplated turning
around being like you and Amy go summit. You know
what I'm saying, Like I'm done. I don't care, but.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
I'm just but guess what you didn't do that.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
I did it. I didn't do that. I thought about it.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
It'll breakdown. We gave you your space to have your breakdown.
Fed me when maybe we get We got some carbs
in you banana.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
I had a whole fucking banana because that was.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
The other thing I was like. I was like, I
was like, yeah, like this is hard for sure, but
like you're also not eating. You haven't been eating enough,
so like, starting now, let's make sure we're eating some
sugar every twenty to thirty minutes. Right.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
So I had trail mix, I had candy. I mean,
I needed all that fuel. My quads were starting to
cramp super bad. You could see him through my fucking pants.
So I was downing the pickle juice and un shit.
So it worked out.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Yeah, it worked out for sure. Now, had had you
not been in a group, if it was just like
you and Mandy, like it wasn't past like a one time,
would you have given up? You think? Or no?

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Because me and Nanny have been in that spot before
where we both sat.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
There and were like, I had a break down together.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Yeah we did.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
We did.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Yeah, and even she was like, you know what, this
is so crazy that we just did this this last
time and it was no big deal.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
It's like because we had the help.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Mm hmm yeah right, So like having having the strong
support team. I'm with you to pick you up when
you're struggling, to push you when you're struggling. Yeah, I'll
call you a little bitch if you need it, whatever
it might be. You know, I don't think we were
saying I don't think we were calling each other little
bitches or anything.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
We weren't like that at all.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Actually, our thing was like, we're athletes. We're athletes, Yeah,
a little stick, we're athletes. We're athletes. Yeah, what would
you say your best moment of the hike was I
know mine, I'll go first, Okay, honestly, just summoning, summoning

(21:58):
injury free and being able to really full experience the
summit of Kataden without like having a gas to knee
and worried about like being able to get back down
and all those other things that I had to worry
about last time, Right, so I was able to just
we were up there for like an hour, and I
beat you guys up there by five ten minutes. So
I was just taking it in by myself, and it
was just truly breastaking being out there, your clouds, you're

(22:21):
above the birds flying. You can see for miles and
miles and miles, every little lake, every little river, Yeah,
little detail of the landscape in three sixty panoramic view.
It's just incredible. Yeah. So my redemption story is probably
guess the best moment for sure.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
I got some good views, good, a lot of good picks,
Like you.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Have some great footage of how steep that mountain is.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
I mean, I haven't never been able to take really
good videos that way. I'm always afraid I'm gonna fucking
drop my phone. But of course Mountain Mas is, you know,
fucking adventurous.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
So the first time I took my phone out of
the record of video, I'm like, don't worry about I'm
not gonna I'm not stepping backwards, right, Oh my god,
Yeah yeah I was. I was glad I was able
to get a few good pictures of especially like of
you guys in action. Yeah, it really put things into perspective.
There's the one picture I took where it's just literally
just straight up and it's you, Amy and Mandy just

(23:14):
scrambling up, you know, and being crazy crazy.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Right when you look back at it to you like, we.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Just climbed that shit. Yeah, j we were just in there.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
We were just in the We were like little ants
in the rocks.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Mm hmmm h for sure.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Yeah, it's definitely something to be really fucking proud of.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
And it just resembles, like for me, like being sober,
Like it's honestly one day at a time, like one
rock at a time, one fucking step at a time. Yeah,
And this shit is not fucking easy, and so it's
just like that hike, it's like you just have to
you just get through it.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
Yeah, you can't worry about the end result, Like you
can't keep thinking about like, oh my god, I want
to get to the summit, like how much longer? How
much longer? Like, no, you'll fucking get there. When you
get there. The best thing you can do is keep
your head down forward and literally just one step at
a time on them. And that's with anything too, with
our goals, right, Yeah, So what was I say?

Speaker 3 (24:07):
I think?

Speaker 2 (24:08):
I think honestly, when me Amy and Mandy were coming
down the mountain and we were fucking delirious, we were fucky,
and we're talking about like I'd ride a fucking moose
right now to get down this mountain.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
It was so dumb. We were so out of our minds.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
I don't know, are the best they are, right, And
so I was telling them like, I don't know if
you experienced this, but after those long ass hikes and
you're in those trails for so many hours, you start
to get like hallucinate. I know I do, like not like,
but you start to hear shit in the woods or
you know, everything starts to look fucking like, oh my god,

(24:43):
you're seeing the same fucking thing over and over again.
You know, it's exhaust you know, mentally exhausting. So we
were just slap happy and talking. We just wanted to
get the fuck out of there. You know, we see another.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Rock, I'm like, there's so much shit, so many rocks.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Wizard one.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Yeah, yeah, oh another one, great.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
Exactly like the last. So the stories you're there's just
the stories you guys were telling, how you were bonding.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Over over We were just hilarious and laughing a lot. Yeah,
that was towards the end, right way towards the end. Yeah,
we were just so done. We wanted to be out
of there. I mean we were just you know too.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
The moment that we got out.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Of the fucking oh my god, thank god.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
And it just took off. I was like, okay, fuck this,
Like I'm getting off this mountain.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Yeah right, it's like you get to that point. I
got to get the fuck off this mountain.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Yeah me, it's a flat land right now away from
a fucking boulder.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Yeah. The hardest part for me was like, and this
is usually true for any hike when you're doing a
lot of elevation changes the descent, Like that's just so
hard on my.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Ankles, my feet, my knees.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Yeah. Yeah, Like my feet were just so raw the
next day, like they felt like they had blisters, but
there was no blisters on them thankfully.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Yes, Like you could touch them and they're raw.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Yeah, they're just taking a beating because these are they're
not big, round, smooth rocks, you know. They're big, hard,
jagged rocks that you're constantly stepping on, putting all your
weight on all that sheer force. So you need good
foot footwear, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
Yeah, and you're catching your fall a lot.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
I caught my fall many times and so I got
tweaks everywhere, you know, But that's part of string training
and being an agile human being. Is like I was
able to catch my fall many times.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Yes, yep. Could be your balance, your good core strength,
your your ability to twist. We talked about that the
first the first time you and I did it together,
when you did fall right like things, wasn't it? You know,
it was just like wow, that really fucking sucked them.
That really hurt. But thankfully nothing's broken type.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Thing right, right.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
What would you say was the hardest part of Catalan
for you this time around the beginning? Yeah, that was
that was a road awakening, huh, Like well, oh shit.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Yeah, I was like, oh fuck, I gotta do this.
It was it was.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
It was the beginning and then I'd say the end,
because that wasn't so much pain, like, you know, my
ankle's hurt so bad that my toes like you're saying.
And then we still had to walk fucking almost three
miles to the campground, which is the other thing about
going down a ball instead of Hunts is that you're
not starting at the same trail hit, so you have

(27:20):
to walk back to the car. And so I'm like,
how could that be quicker for these people?

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Yeah, I haven't gone down hunt but just from our
experience like that, it was stupid pointless to go down
a ball. You're not saving any time and you're actually
probably be now that's what I think. Yeah, because once
you get.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Right, thanks thanks for anyone that's hiked Mountcatad and you
went up Hunts and down a ball.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
I don't know what the fuck you're thinking.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
I don't know. I don't want to just be fucking yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
I didn't think about it.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
If we were to go down Hunts, which I've always done,
is you go right, you get to that waterfall, and
it's like a fucking nice trail from there on right,
it's like a nice, actual dirt trail.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Yeah, throw the most part trail runners on and you
can take off and go totally. What surprised you the
most this time around about the hike or yourself?

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Perhaps probably that I wasn't as mentally into it as
I've been before and I didn't like I hated that.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Yeah. Yeah, Now when we attribute that to you being
in this prep and the calorie.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Devasit probably yeah, I'm assuming so yeah, yeah, like I
wanted to be more excited about it and I wasn't,
and that sucked.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
I really, it bummed me out.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Yeah, yeah, I don't get that. I mean that just
goes to show like calory devs, calory devats are nothing
to fuck around with, Like now are nothing to fuck
around with. You know, you gotta do it with intention
and have structure behind it because that that does put
a big impact on your mental right, your mental fortitude,
your mental resiliency, the fogginess that you can experience, all

(29:09):
of those things. Yeah, doing those now you're temper you know. Yeah,
now you're climbing four thousand plus feet and a few
miles with all of those things going on too. Yeah yeah, yeah,
hardest part for me, honestly just the repetitiveness of the descent,
and that's that's just like with Kilimanjaro. That was the
hardest part for me, was was was descending, you know,

(29:32):
just because it's just all that sheer force coming down
and it's just repeat, repeat, repeat, There's no there's no
rest from your knees and ankles taken and beating, right,
which is why, like with it's important to train like
this too. And I can't recommend it enough. If like
you're if you're an avid hiker, run er, whatever it is,
like for strength training, you need to be making sure

(29:53):
that you're doing your step ups, but also your step downs. Okay,
a lot of people don't put the emphasis on the
step downs. That's super fucking important too, and your later
lateral step up, step ups, lateral lunges, all those things.
You know, we weren't just doing traditional step up sounds,
were lunching to our sides, step into our side, squatting

(30:14):
to our side in awkward positions, pulling ourselves up, pushing
ourselves up off of rocks, doing triceps dips. Solve these things.
So twisting, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
I think someone asked us in the cut the crop group,
correct me if I'm wrong about the equipment that they
would need on a hike, like what we did?

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Yeah, you see that question? Did? I wanted to spend
some time on that question for sure, and that was
a great question. Should we spend some time talking about
that now? Yeah? The question came from our cut the
Crab Facebook group from Lauren Siebert. She said, probably too
late for the episode you're recording this weekend, but maybe
for a future episode. She said, I'd love to hear
about your favorite hiking gear slash essentials and tips for beginners.

(30:54):
I'd like to get out and explore more with the kids,
but I want to make sure I'm prepared. And this
included a picture of hiking with her kid's a nephew.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Ah that's so cool.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
I love it. Yeah, that's a great question. Let's let's
spend like the rest of the episode talking about that. Okay,
Oh but before we do get into that, nerdle real
quick shout out cure nutrition. Okay a birthday to cure
nutrition day. Are so happy?

Speaker 3 (31:15):
Birthday?

Speaker 1 (31:16):
Birthday this week? So from Monday August twenty fifth all
the way through Monday October first, they were celebrating their birthday.
So what that means is you can get forty off
of their products, their flow Gummies, their Serenity Gummies, their
salav whatever it might be, forty percent off. Plus with
our code CTC, you get an additional ten bucks off

(31:38):
of your order, which is really fucking cool. I mean,
when we got back to the Airbnb Thursday night after
our hike, we were all just like slathering ourselves in
that salv weren't we.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Yes, Matt has photos.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Yep, yeap, We were just and it was it worked
for our ankles, our our knees, everything really really good
relief there. And for me, I was taking flow Gummies
all throughout the high which was a nice boost and
good mental focus and hanswer. So yeah, yeah, check it out.
And then we took Serenity Gummies to help us get
out leave, not that we needed it, but it helps

(32:11):
us relax and unwined at the end of the day,
at the end of the night because we were still
kind of wired from that hike.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
I still suck like shit, only because my legs were aching.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Yeah right, aching, yo. Okay, So let's get into Lauren's
question here then. So favorite hiking gear and essentials slash
essentials and tips for beginners so first and foremost maybe
so have you ever heard of the ten Essentials Beth
for hiking? So there is something called the ten essentials.

(32:44):
This is what everybody should have in their backpack when
they're out hiking. Okay, this is for like basic survival. Okay,
So the ten essentials One navigation, So have some type
of a map that could be like on your phone,
download your download your map offline, because you don't always
have service on likes and hiking, a compass or GPS system.
I use both maps on my phone and I use

(33:06):
a compass, So I've got a compass on the outside
of my backpack. Essential Number two is sun protection, so sunglasses,
yea sunscreen, hat, sun you know, clothing that protects you
from the sun. I can't say, Like being on Kilimanjaro,
I saw so many people get fucked up from the sun. Oh,
you know, and just just that's not one thing you

(33:27):
want to mess around with. That's number two. Number three
is insulation, so jacket, hat, gloves, rain jacket, thermal underwear okay, layers, right,
I was wearing Marina wool thermal underwear on or hike. Actually,
and we all had extra we all had extra layers, right,
so we all had hat gloves, which we actually all
ended up using hats and gloves at the time because

(33:48):
it was a little bit chillier up there. To make
sure you have insulation. Item number four is illumination, so flashlight,
a headlamp, lanterns, you need some type of light other
than just like on your phone. Item number five is
first aid suppli It's like a first aid kit, okay.
Item number six fire okay, so it could be matches,

(34:09):
it could be lighter fire starters. It could be used
to as like an emergency signal or heat source for
cooking and staying. More in emergencies, you want to have
a repair kit. In tools, so like think about like
duct tape, like a Swiss army knife, scissors, things like that.
You never know what you're gonna need on the on
the trail. Nutrition okay, food, lots and lots of it,

(34:31):
and you want to plan for like having extra food too,
So don't just plant. Don't just pack the amount of
food that you think you're going to need. Pack more.
My advice is always like pack from.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
High carbohydrate, high salt.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Sugar carbs, high sugar, high carbs.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
For sure, you don't need necessarily need to worry so
much about the protein.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Right, Yep, for sure. So that'd be like trail mixed nuts,
granola bars, dried fruit, candy, and gummy form usually. Yeah,
but pack it like if you're if you're gonna be
out takeable or six hours, plan on it like you're
gonna be out there for double the time. Always pack
double the amount of food that you think you'll need.
And that goes for water too. So water's the next
essential item for survival. Yeah, water and water treatment supplies. Okay,

(35:11):
so saying hydrated is super super important. Water bladder, water bladder,
water bottles. Make sure you have your electrolytes with you.
This is one of those things where we definitely recommend
you have electrolytes when you're out, and also have some
type of emergency water filter too. I don't know if
you did or not, but I always have a emergency
I didn't, I think, I think.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
I I always know that you do.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
So I've always got a like like one of those
life straws. Yeah, you can drink right right out of
a stream or pond or something with it if you
need to, and it'll it'll be sanitized. Next one up,
and the last one is like emergency shelter. It could
be a tent, a space blanket, So that's like one
of those tinfoil blankets. I've got one in my first
aid kit, so you never want to be stranded without

(35:52):
any type of shelter. And those space space blankets they
literally fold up to the size of like a dollar bill, right, Yeah,
just slide it, slide it in your in your supplies there.
So those are like the ten essential items that are
a must, whether you're day hiking, if you're backpacking, overnight packing, packing,
whatever it is. But those are like the ten things
you need for survival. Yeah, you have those ten things

(36:12):
you get lost, which is very possible, especially if you're
a newbie. You want to make sure you have everything
you need to Yeah. Answer, It's no joke.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
Whenever I go hiking, it always amazes me what I
see people take on the trails, and most of the
time it's nothing, and I'm.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Like, what are you fucking?

Speaker 1 (36:29):
I just want to shake it it is.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
I'm like you, it's ninety five degrees so you have
no water? What the fuck are like? It literally makes
me crazy.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
They're holding water botty, right, shirt in really short shorts
where we're at something it's like, what are you fucking doing? You?
What are you doing? And then those are the people
that need.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
To be resturant flight are flown area. Yeah right, you
really don't fucking around when you're hiking, guys. I mean,
and I'm not talking about your local two mile trail
where you know it's like in and out. I'm talking
about like if you're going to be gone for even
like a let's say, how prepared should you be for
I'd say a five plus mile hike, maybe even four plus?

Speaker 1 (37:12):
I mean everything that we just listed the ten essentials,
you need those right when when it comes to hiking,
my best advice is to plan as if you are
going to be stranded. Yep, I don't care if it
is two miles. Guess what. I have listened to so
many survival or non survival podcast stories and that's pretty
much all I listen to our podcasts about nature, surviving

(37:34):
in nature, animal attacks and nature and shit like that. Yeah,
most people that get lost and are stranded out on
hiking trails, they do it when they just walk off
trail to use their restroom and it could only be
fifty feet that they walk off trail and they get lost,
right now, okay, right, yeah, So like, no matter how
small your hike is, plan as if, like everything that

(37:58):
can go wrong will go wrong. Okay, have a backup plan.
Communicate with people, Right, this is the hike, the trail
that I'm doing, here's the map to it. Share your
location with somebody if you can. Here's my ETA, my
expected arrival time. That way, if you don't arrive two
years to the summit or parking lot or wherever on time,
people can alert the authorities and things like that. So really,

(38:22):
I mean I prepare for every hike I go on
as if like it's going to be an all day,
multi day thing. I mean that that would be my advice,
like to anybody listening to being in nature is not
something to fuck around with. We're humans, we don't have
good ways to protect ourselves out in the elements. Just
got a plan ahead of time, be prepared. Let's see.

(38:43):
So like in terms of like other gear then for
like beginners, right, so what are what do you like
to wear for like shoes, like for foot wear?

Speaker 2 (38:50):
What I what was I wearing the other day? I
was wearing my new Balance.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
Minimalist By your minimalist shoes.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Those are something I probably wouldn't I would. I only
wear those hiking catatin because they're they really cling to rocks,
so and they're very mobile, or they're.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
They're minimalist shoes, right, so they yeah, ankle support and
things like that.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
And I've worn hiking boots and gaita and I've worn
different kinds, and those are the only ones that I've
found have prevented me from falling many times. Okay, like
on other things that I wear for some reason, my
like hiking boots or ankle breakers and just my like tapos.
I've worn topos those for some reason, I cannot they
don't help me cling to the rocks like these shoes do.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
It's like I can almost like get my monkey grip.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
You know they have they have the vibrums soul on them, right, yeah, Yeah,
And I really love that that in a soulo vibrums
And that's what my hiking boots have. I wear Meryl
Moab hiking boots. Nice boot, great ankle support, and it's
got the grippiness of yeah that that provides too something
with good ankle support and good grip, good grip, good traction.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
Try to mount before you hike. You you must don't
go on a hike with new shoes. People do this
all the time. They were like, I'm gonna go We're
gonna go hike a Toden, right, and then they've never
hiked before. They get these new shoes that are going
to be perfect for the hike and they end up
fucking giving them blisters and they hurt them in the
middle of the hike. Please test out your shoes before

(40:20):
any hikes that you go on.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
If you absolutely don't, just get a new pair of
hiking boots right here. Yeah, no, hik r, that's gonna
you're gonna fuck yourself up. Yeah, let's see here. So footwear.
I also really like trail runners for for that reason too,
because trail runners you typically have that good traction on them.
I actually made the count to you that next time
I do and I think I'll probably wear my trail runners.

(40:44):
And the thing was, my hiking boots were a little
too clunky for on the way down, so my feet, yeah,
they were, they were tired, My legs were tired. So
my big old hiking boots got in the way a
couple of times and made me trip up a little bit.
My trail runners are trail runners are a little bit
more compact, and they still have this yeah support and
the grippiness of the soul like that. Yep, socks matter

(41:05):
like a good Marina Wool song, right, so like a
darn tov.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
Hopefully they're like waterproof if possible, because that does help.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
You don't want to walk like hiking and wet socks, sock,
so have a change of socks too, if possible.

Speaker 3 (41:19):
I don't know if we've mentioned that.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
Yeah, we didn't actually mention clothing like extra clothing. Have
extra clothing, so extra socks, extra underwear, extra layer like
bass layers, things like that. I always plan according like
I plan for my hikes if it's a single day hike.
I plan as if I'm gonna shit myself like three
times on that mounth right, So I'm gonna have my underwear.
I'm gonna have a back I'm gonna have another pair

(41:41):
of backup underwear. Yeah, Like I've never pooped myself on
a mountain. You know what if I fall into a
stream that's happened, I don't want to be were walking
around right underwear, you know, so have extra socks at
least two or three pair, extra underwear at least two
or three pair, and extra layers for sure.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
Marino woolves is definitely the move for footwear, underwear.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
And John tuffs.

Speaker 1 (42:07):
I love darn. Yes, yeah that's what I was wearing
on the mountain. And then I say tough as they
have lifetime guarantee, so if you if you ever get
holes in them, they could go bad whatever, go replace
them for free. Mm hmm. But also for beginners too.
Weather variability too, so that can change from time to
time or no in an instant, especially on a mountain
like Mount catad And where it makes its own weather system.

(42:28):
So plan ahead and plan and see what the weather
forecast is going to look like so you can dress accordingly.
Other than that, like embrace the journey, like embrace doing
hard things. I love that you're getting. This question was
about like getting their children and nieces and nephews involved,
like get them curious, expose them to nature. You know,
stop and read this one thing I love to do.
I stop and read all the signs I want to

(42:49):
know about, Like why is what's important about this view
or this area?

Speaker 2 (42:52):
Right?

Speaker 1 (42:53):
Yeah, so yeah, we can learn a lot from hiking.
You know, it's like, if you can do this, if
you can use this really hard thing, you can handle
pretty much to anything that life throws at you. You
can handle obstacles, you can hand handle roadblocks, setbacks. Right,
That's what a lot of hiking is. It's that mental resiliency,
that that mental fortitude, hstaling, that hard work, work ethic

(43:16):
and the report that comes from it, The feeling you
get from doing hard things, the accomplishment, the confidence that
comes with that. Yeah mm hmm. So for beginners then too,
like start small, right, like find local trails in your area,
family friendly hikes, a couple of miles, things like that,
hike with others, get others involved, like your kids, family members,
and practice. Practice makes perfect with hiking, right, Yeah, start small,

(43:40):
Start with under ten essentials, make sure you have those,
get familiar with those, have them as part of your pack,
and start line learning how to pace yourself too, right, Like,
hiking isn't about getting up that mountain as fast as
you can. It's it's a literal marathon. So you know,
we could have gone much faster, right, but like, no,
we like we want to make sure we get there
and feel good.

Speaker 3 (44:02):
You know once that was me.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
I was going fast and then you get sloppy and
then you start you you're fucking falling and ship, and
so I had to tell myself, you like, safety first, Beth,
Like this is not a fucking race, because I can
get to this point where I'm like, you know what,
I'm going to get up there as fast as I
can because it's hurt so fucking bad. I'm not going
to delay this ship, and so I will get in

(44:24):
the like just fucking let's just run this ship. And
then you know, I end up like slamming my fucking
head into a rock or something.

Speaker 3 (44:30):
So it's it's you, Yeah, he did. You have to
pay attention. It's like, okay that I had to stop
to remember it's it's about safety.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
It's not about getting up to the top of the
mountain as fast as you can unless you're like me too.

Speaker 1 (44:44):
You remember that one section when we when we had
to steal runs in the rock and it was literally
you had to take the biggest step up to even
get up to the top of this rock. But then
as soon as you got up there, you had to
get down. You were basically shimmying underneath the overhead rock
on your bell and then you have to roll to
get out of it, you know, and it's like so
many things could have gone wrong there. Oh, I know.

(45:07):
You have to have that spatial awareness, the focus.

Speaker 3 (45:10):
It's fucking crazy, right, It's yeah, it's honestly crazy.

Speaker 1 (45:15):
Yep, yep.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
I'm telling you, Malca Totten has set me up to
do so many things in life, just like this bikini prep.
I'm like, this is nothing compared to fucking hiking that mount.
I would do this for three months again if it
meant me not hiking Katatten next week or some you
know what I'm saying, Like, that's how fucking hard Zion

(45:37):
is to me.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
Yeah, I get it, I get it. Oh my god
m hm. Another thing too, is like backpack. Back backpack
is really really important too, So invest in a good
backpack for yourself. I recommend one that holds at least
like a two to three liters water bladder in there,
one little compartments in there so you can have snack compartments,
you can keep everything kind of clean and ye inside

(46:00):
of your backpack, like a twenty to thirty Leader at
least backpack. My day pack is a thirty thirty leader.
I believe I like I like having more space because
I over prepare. I have multiple layers. Yeah, I have
multiple of everything. So even if I'm only going out
for a two mile pack, my twenty my thirty lead
pack is fully packed, you know. So have a good

(46:22):
backpack that fits you well. Going to a store like ARII,
They'll they'll get you fitted for a backpack because you
want to make sure it sits on your hips right
and you can make the adjustments. They'll even help you
with footwear and things like that. Yeah, let's see, we
talked about clothing, layers, you know, ring gear, base layer, socks, underwear,
trekking poles, tracking poles. Like you guys didn't really use

(46:45):
your tracking polls that you brought, did you.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
We did, and then we're like, nah, it too, it
was too steep unable to use them.

Speaker 1 (46:53):
Yeah, I feel like, yeah, got it. Generally speaking, they
can they help a lot of people. Though they do
help a lot, you know, the environment, Like the trail
we were using, there wasn't a good use case for
them because it was literally getting on your butt and
shimmying down a lot of the time. Rocks. Yeah, and
there's just no place for you know, you can use
a pole to help you, you know, get balanced and

(47:13):
things like that. But they but poles are really good
for helping to save your knees, especially on that day. Yeah,
hiking is just incredible. Whether you're doing mancataut In, whether
you're doing your local trail, whatever it is, Hiking gets
you outside, helps you connect with nature, the vitamin end,
it's verally helpful for your you know, it's got a
lot of benefits for our mental health, mental clarity, and

(47:36):
just doing hard things in life. It helps you just
you know, prepare for doing hard things. I think everybody
can benefit from being from being in nature. Nature's for everybody,
Our parks are for everybody. Doesn't matter who you are,
your religion, race, any of that. None of that shit
matters when you're out in nature, you know. So yeah,
start small, get outside, don't overthink it right, get your

(47:58):
ten essentials, be safe and just enjoy the journey when
when you're out there hike. Hiking has changed my life
ever since I really started hiking. I think I really
started hiking in about twenty thirteen or so was when
I really started finding my love for it.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
So yeah, I love Yeah, I love hiking. I've always
loved hiking. I mean ever since I've lived in Maine.
I mean in high school. That's we would hike up
the mountains and have parties on top of the mountain here.

Speaker 1 (48:24):
So that is such a main thing to do.

Speaker 3 (48:26):
I mean, right, we.

Speaker 2 (48:26):
Would get our I mean we did the shit in
the middle of the night, Like we asked Mike about
it sometimes, like they would carry kegs up mountains like him.

Speaker 3 (48:33):
And his friends.

Speaker 1 (48:34):
That's cool, that's bad as.

Speaker 2 (48:36):
I know, it is pretty bad ass. That's what we
did as kids, me and our kids, you know. Yeah,
that's where we had the parties. Mountain parties.

Speaker 1 (48:45):
Yeah, yeah cool. So I mean, hey, I I had
a really good time with you, Beth, with you and
Amy and Mandy. Yeah, I was listening. We had our crew,
we found our tribe, and we did the fuck yeah
really quickly. We're doing something special for our Patreon. We're
bad at terrible promoting things, but let's talk about what

(49:05):
we're doing for our Patreon here. Yeah, we just while
we also just hiked Mount Cataden for Best of Sobriety.
It's also lines up with when we started this podcast.
So we just had our fourth birthday last week we did.
We've been podcasting now for four fucking years. I think
our first episode released was like August twentieth, twenty twenty

(49:25):
one or something like that. Crazy. It is very crazy.
So we're running a little promo for our Patreon. So
what our promo for our patreon is is like a
fifty percent discount to join our Patreon. It's more like
our three dollars a month to join or six dollars
a month to join, or you can get a big
discount if you pay for the yearly membership. You just

(49:47):
send discount on that any lower and we would have
literally been paying people to join.

Speaker 3 (49:52):
So right right, right can't.

Speaker 1 (49:54):
So this is like what we're doing to give back
to celebrate our birthday. We're doing this for the remainder
of the month, all the way up through so for
the next week, I believe, right next week, yep, for
the next week. So if you are interested, you want
to support us, you're wanting to jump on our workouts,
Let's remind everybody really quickly what our patreon entails, and
then that way they know. So our patreoon has two

(50:16):
different options for support. We have our base or our
no Bullshit or option, which is typically five bucks a month.
It's three bucks a month if you sign up for
this during this promo for our birthday, you get a
monthly workout that you can do at home or at
the gym. Gives you a list of exercises with videos
on how to do them. It gives your place to
take notes, make notes and everything. And then you also
get a monthly challenge along with them. And these are

(50:37):
new workouts, new challenges and everything every single month. And
we have our other tier, which is our No Bullshit
or Supreme Tier, which also includes the workouts and the
challenges plus what else comes with that nerdle with the
second one, the second tier. Yep.

Speaker 2 (50:53):
So we got our recipes right are now we're cooking
with Chef Richard, where we have about one hundred more
than one hundred, probably a couple hundred by now family
friendly friendly recipes that are actually in the Lose It
and my Fitness Peal app. So we have those and
then we have our monthly workouts.

Speaker 1 (51:11):
Yes, yes, and people, I think I don't think enough
people realize like these are some really kick ass recipes.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
Yeah, oh my god.

Speaker 2 (51:18):
Yeah, it's like so if you are familiar with my cookbooks.
Chef Richard is the co writer of my cookbooks. So
I know you guys love the last cookbook that I made,
fork it. And so Chef Richard is he does all
the meals in this now we're cooking, so.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
Kick ass off. He's also lost about three or four
hundred pounds.

Speaker 1 (51:38):
Yeah, he's been on the podcast twice to talk to
he has he has. Yeah, my personal favorite dessert on
there is a peanut butter pie. Because that was my request.
Rich asked me what kind of a deserve.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
We have a video on that too.

Speaker 1 (51:50):
Yeah, so the peanut butter pie. So yeah. For the
next week through September, first, celebrate our birthday with us.

I got to get in there and got out to
everybody because like people have been really they're they're sharing

content things like that. So like, if you're looking for
another support avenue, our patreon has a great option to

(52:44):
do that, and you get into our Facebook group as
a result of that. Right, nine hundred members in there.
