160 years ago to the March 12, 1865 Sam Richards in one diary entry exhibited

both a passion for religion and his lack of regard for humankind when he
wrote, quote, "This morning we went to Dr. Weston's church and were not so
well pleased as at previous attendance, for he introduced an illustration in the
course of this sermon, which too plainly showed his war and African-American
