160 years ago today, January 22, 1865.
Sherman, still in Savannah, wrote to his brother, Senator John Sherman.
(00:58):
I start today for the advance of my army at Pocataligo.
But we have had such storms and rains that the whole country is underwater.
But I will be off as soon as possible.
No one is more alive to the importance of time than I am.
(01:19):

(01:50):
Next time, we will explore additional aspects from Civil War Georgia.
