(00:01):
Hello there, Welcome into another episodeof the Fasting Guy podcast. That's me
the Fasting Guy. Glad to haveyou along today. Today we are officially
the end of two weeks into ourrenewed effort to fast a bit more.
As we head into some end ofthe year stuff, primarily leading up to
(00:25):
my annual check up and physical andall that with my doctor, we'll be
officially rap rapping up, wrapping upto I don't know why I can't talk
today, wrapping up two years ofthis new plan to you know, I
kind of call it a five yearplan, even though it didn't really originate
specifically as a five year plan.It originally started out as I'm just going
(00:50):
to do things every day that I'dbe willing to do the rest of my
life, and I'm not willing todo something that's you know, requires extreme
restriction or extreme exercise or extreme youknow, caloric or food restricting or things
like. It has to be somethingthat I'm comfortable, willing and perfectly happy
(01:12):
maintaining forever because I want the weightloss to be perfect. At the end
of the first year, when Isaw that resulted in around thirty five pounds,
I'm like, yeah, this'd probablybe like a five year thing,
probably a little more, because it'scloser you get to your goal weight that
the slower things go. So youknow, hopefully within five years we would
be out of the obese, outof the maybe into just the overweight or
(01:38):
barely overweight range. Would be amiracle for me because I haven't been quote
unquote overweight since I was probably Idon't know, fourteen, maybe thirty.
I don't know when I became obese, but it was young. So nevertheless,
we're going to get into day fourteennow. So when we left off
it was day eleven. We diddo another twenty four hour fast. Actually
(02:04):
we did more than twenty four hours. We did all right. Now,
it's annoying me because I don't rememberwhat we did, but I'll see if
I can find it out for youreal quick. We did. I don't
know if that's right or not.I'm sorry, I just want to check
(02:27):
and make sure. Yep, okay, it was twenty four hours, a
little over twenty four hours we did. Then we left town, checked into
a hotel. Our first meal wasa pretty solid one. I believe.
We had hamburger, patty pickle, and a protein bar. That whole day
(02:53):
there was pretty good. Second day, we decided to have a ah.
They had a special. It waspork cutlets, roasted potatoes, and green
beans. The potatoes will were whole. They were those small red potatoes,
(03:13):
you know, and they were cuttinghalf and roasted. I decided, since
it wasn't like mashed potatoes or Frenchfries, I decided, you know what,
we'll indulge in these carbs today.Probably won't be that horrible. And
it wasn't had to see gm on. I mean, obviously the blood sugar
did go up, but it didn'tgo up like it does with hamburger,
cheeseburgers, French fries, mashed potatoes, things like that. I mean,
(03:38):
it went up, don't get mewrong, but came down relatively quickly as
well. You know, whole potatoesthat are like baked or boiled are not
are They're just not nearly the sameas eating something of the fried, especially
French fries. That special was sogood. I then bought one to go
(04:00):
and I ate it the next dayfor lunch, and then late that night
we had what we have. Ohwe did finish it with lots of carbs.
We did finish up our tech quoteunquote last day of eating with a
cheeseburger in French fries, which I'mfine with. That's kind of been my
thing all along that you know,if you have one day where you have
(04:26):
one meal that isn't the best, you know it's fine. And it's even
knowing that it will probably affect yougoing into the next day, which is
particularly a problem when the next dayis the day you're starting your fast,
which leads us into today today,I was supposed to start my fast at
first. Of all, I hadas crazy late night as I've talked about
(04:47):
in other episodes, I play aton of poker. We played eighteen hours
of poker yesterday. I didn't leavethe poker room until six am in the
moon, and at home crashed andslept, which I knew was going to
throw things off. It just will. Like sleep is such a huge part
of being able to meet your goalsnutritionally fasting into every kind of a way.
(05:13):
So I woke up in the afternoonhungry slash craving. So we did
bacon, We did a ratio twentyfive grand protein yogurt which is very low
carb, and a protein bar,and then we jumped back into fast after
(05:42):
that. So the other thing thatI'll say that I did or get one
thing I did not do. Didnot weigh today. As you also know,
anytime I'm up on my feet oreven sitting, but on my feet
slash sitting for a while. Thisjust I have a massive fluid collection in
my right leg. I just retaina lot of water weight. It takes
two to three days to get thatweight to go away. No way was
(06:04):
I stepping on scales today, youknow, not, because it would wreck
me if I saw it. It'sjust I just don't like to have weights
in my official history that I knoware skewed way off because of some external
factor like this crazy fluid retention inmy leg. So it was pretty bad
(06:29):
to stay. Like I mentioned,I played poker eighteen hours. I was
up a total of like twenty hours. I would guess an hour before I
started playing. It took me anhour and a half to get home,
unwind, get the stuff in outof the vehicles, so maybe even twenty
three hours. So we were awaketwenty three hours, twenty four hours something
like that. I'll say this, the leg wasn't nearly as engaged and fluid
(06:56):
as I thought it would have been, but it was. It was much
puffer here the normal after falling asleepand sleeping through the day with my leg
elevated, I have this wedge thatI sleep with in bed when it's really
like that, just after you know, my sleeping through the day into the
afternoon. It was probably I don'tknow, fifty sixty down looks relatively normal.
(07:19):
Thing about it is, even whenit gets down to where the naked
eye it starts looking close to normal, there's still quite a bit of fluid
in there. I just know fromweighing anyway, So didn't weigh. We're
jumping back into a fast and thelast thing I did, as you may
or may not know, I havesome maglatide I actually now have in my
(07:41):
refrigerator. I have some agulatide, which is ozimpic. I now have truzeppetide,
which is manjaro, but I havethe generic raw peptide form of it.
And then I just got in thisshipment of this stuff that's not even
on the market market yet, calledrich we're taglatide. I think it's called
(08:01):
it's a triple agonist. This ithas the GLP one agonist, it has
the glucagon agnet agonist, and italso has another agonist, it's it's a
triple agneist agonist and in phase one, in phase two trials, the weight
loss effect of it is massive andit also has massive controls of blood sugar.
(08:22):
You can't even buy it yet,but I'm not going to get into
how to do it. Don't sendme messages asking me how to buy peptides.
Don't. I just don't. I'mnot. I won't reply to them.
I'll just delete them. Nevertheless,I have them. So I did
the I just did the smaglatide, which is the weakest, the best I
(08:43):
can highest safety profile of any ofthem for sure. And then I just
do it in a low dose andit is a tool to help me get
back into a fasting state. Solike I don't take it a full dose
of it once every seven days likeeverybody else. Like I'm not on it.
I just have this, you know, this this raw peptide form that
I bought, and it's reconst Ireconstitute it and not getting into that.
(09:07):
Don't send me messages about it,not answering it. And I just do
like a very small dose of itand it should help me over the next
twenty four hours to get back intothis fast, especially after carbing it up,
you know, the last twelve eighteenhours before I headed into the fast.
(09:28):
So I think that gets us wrappedup. On day fourteen, you
may be listening to this going, wow, he really screwed everything up he
had going. I mean, Idon't think so. But you know,
at the end of this week,we'll know. Did this derail me?
I hope not, because this ismy plan going forward. This is something
I'm willing to do for a stagein my life, not every day,
not every month of every year, but in stages, this is something I'm
(09:50):
willing to do. I'm willing todo extended fasting three four five days a
week, then have a couple ofdays where you know, hopefully I very
well. The first day of therefeed. You know, in this case,
we actually had two days of refeedbecause, like I mentioned in the
last episode, I do have somesome refeeding discomfort issues and testine. So
(10:11):
you know, probably like a threeday thing. The first day it's just
a kind of a one kind ofa meal getting the refeeding going, and
the second day you eat a fullday. I will say this. The
second day of this weekend. Thefull day, I did not feel comfortable
all day. As a matter offact, I at one point I felt
like I was going to have diarrhea. It never materialized. I felt that
(10:35):
way for like two hours. Ifelt like it was coming. There was
a scramp. It was an uncomfortable, digestive feeling. But it did eventually
pass. And then that last dayinto the late night hours that we ate
it, I just felt normal,and I feel normal today. I don't
think there's anything else I can updateyou on at this point. I actually
kind of regret going into the detailabout peptides again. Don't message me about
(11:00):
that. I'm not answering questions aboutthat. I don't recommend that you'd look
it up. I don't recommend thatyou've partaken it or attempt it. Nevertheless,
it's out there in the ethos.I'm not re recording this, and
I'm not going into an editor andediting it out. And so when will
we check in again? Maybe we'llgo back into the dailies this week.
I'm not sure. We'll see howit goes. Nevertheless, I appreciate you
(11:24):
being here on this journey. Iappreciate if you are in the struggle.
If you've been a lifelong obast likeI have, perhaps you've only been overweight
for three years after a pregnancy,or maybe you're like a guy that I
played poker with this weekend who hada heart attack I think six eight months
ago, and then in his surgeryand operation and recovery phase, like this
(11:48):
guy's, he's been a you know, I've been playing poker with him for
years, and you know, overthe past six eight months when seeing him,
he's just got bigger and bigger.Well, he just got where he's
out and about agin and stuff, and he wasn't sitting and laying around a
lot in recovery. Like he gainednothing. He said again, like thirty
pounds. And we were talking aboutand I told him, like, man,
(12:09):
crank that protein up. You know, you were an athlete in school.
That's you know, you can tellpeople that a lot of times.
You can tell people that are athleticin school and especially if they went into
college, because they even though theymay have a belly or something, they
still have that athletic build about him. He's always had that. And he's
an older gentleman. I would sayhe's probably sixty maybe and I said,
(12:30):
man, get in there and crankthat protein up. Make most of what
you eat protein, and you'll justget back on track. And so he's
like, yeah, that sounds likea good idea. It's me playing football
anyways. There's a lot of reasonspeople gain weight and get overweight, slash
obese, whatever. Some of usit's been lifelong. Some of us it's
a result of childhood trauma. Someof us it's azult teenage trauma. Some
(12:54):
of us it's a result of pregnancyor multiple pregnancies. Some of us it's
a result of working through injuries orhealth issues. It's a struggle for one
and all, and I, forone, do appreciate the shared struggle experience
with you, and so I continueto wish you the best and I appreciate
you being here as a part ofmy journey. We will talk to you
(13:18):
next time.
