Speaker 2 (05:56):
Dale.
Speaker 7 (05:56):
He will not willingly risk his life for nothing. If
he is dead, it is only because he died fighting
for his life. What's that his son is going down?
It must be the changing of the guard. Right up
to the gate, they will only see you, And when
they get you inside, I will slide off your horse
and follow you wherever they take you, all right to darker.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
I don't care what they do to me.
Speaker 10 (06:17):
If only I can say Flash, Oh God.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
They see that I mean me. They let it down
the garden.
Speaker 4 (06:37):

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Did you hear? Comrade?
Speaker 8 (07:00):

so we cannot give the alarm too soon.
Speaker 4 (07:42):

First we will take him. Put it in his mouth.
Speaker 5 (07:47):

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Can I can hardly believe that flash Gordon is dead.
Speaker 8 (08:33):
Well he is.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
No one can live in that pitter peril, and I think,
as you're a flash Garden take her down there.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
More than likely she intended to push him in and
Planleador after him, but he was too quick for her
and dragged her with him.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
As you're a thought you were smart putting flash Garden
at the head of her armies when your hawkman attacked that.
So she was well, I'm still alive, but where is
your and her ex commander in chief?
Speaker 4 (08:56):
That's what I would like to know. Well, what are
you going to do with me?
Speaker 6 (08:59):
Taul?
Speaker 10 (09:00):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (09:00):
What am I going to do with you? That is
the question. As long as you don't believe as You're
and Flash Garden are dead, I must hold you prisoner
until you change your mind.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
I shall never be sure until I see their body.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
Fool, I mean you see buddies consume by fire? Oh God,
bring that prisoner down to the tail black again and
to think I am King cow the first I am
King hal Do you understand God as you see Can the.
Speaker 8 (09:31):
Gods acknowledged me to be that king?
Speaker 6 (09:33):

Speaker 4 (09:33):
I hear them who went by me? No, general, I
leave your majesty, no one.
Speaker 8 (09:39):
I am sure some run brush at me. One of
you must have.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
You're sorry, your majesty, but none of us went by you.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
You know better than to admit it. And let us
get the prisoner in his cell.
Speaker 8 (09:50):
Yes, your majesty of.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Getting that tell time, why not? There's nothing left to
fight for.
Speaker 8 (10:00):
Ray, Yes, your majesty, thank God.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
At the end of the corridor, see that no one
gets near the prisoner. Will give him time to meditate
and the follies of being a follower of a large car.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
Come.
Speaker 8 (10:12):
God, let us away to the Hall of State.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
I must have my kingship proclaimed throughout blue magic land.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
God, Hey the cock, where are you? I can't see
you coming around in front of the cell. I yeah,
around in front of your set. What oh more of
that invisible way that you used on flash?
Speaker 11 (10:39):
Yes, you brush past hall coming down the corridor.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Yes, he stepped into my path just as I was
going back where is flash?
Speaker 11 (10:48):
The tell me he and Quinazura went through the iron
door that leads into some pit of peril that haven't
been seen since they.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Are both dead. I have the iron door opened. I
called a flash. There was no answer. Is western night thought?
Poor sales? How can I break the use to her?
Speaker 11 (11:05):
He will take it hard, dot Com Wait until we
are absolutely sure.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
You'll think there maybe a chance flashes ste a life.
Speaker 11 (11:11):
Yes, I can't help feeling that it was a trick
of chance that I received no answer when I call
his name?
Speaker 4 (11:15):
What do you mean? What's going on here?
Speaker 8 (11:17):
What's all that talking?
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Why? I'm just talking to myself? God? You don't see anyone,
do you?
Speaker 8 (11:23):
Well?
Speaker 4 (11:23):
If you keep it up, I'll have yourself headed good.
It would be more comfortable. Thanks for the suggestion, and
don't be humorous.
Speaker 8 (11:29):
Ain't powers so here?
Speaker 11 (11:30):
I then you are saying, con well, I think is
the flash? Wouldn't still be a that iron door? After
all the time, Gift there were tunnels and corridors, and
that's hit. He's too much of an explorer for that.
Speaker 7 (11:40):
You'll think they have been looking around in some part
of the peach, and so I was unable.
Speaker 11 (11:44):
To hear you yes, that's just what I think, and
I couldn't prove it then, so I surrendered to wait
my time.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
I can help you now, as long.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
As the electrical judge holds out, I would be able
to search for Flash.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
Oh tell me where is this iron law? I don't
know exactly, but you had been there? Yes, how did
you get to it? I will take him there my
lass up one of the darks. We're getting dusk. I'm
not sure of the path. Ah. If I could only
get out of here, patience, car I can do it.
It can reconnoiter me and report to you. What is
the general direction this let's up?
Speaker 11 (12:16):
Let you north. He went through the north gate toward
the hills. But which hill had the iron door?
Speaker 7 (12:21):
I don't know the Akan I will look for the
iron door and find Flash, or I will find his
dead body.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
While his friends are planning to search for him, Flashes
running down card after carda toward the iron door, followed
by Azora and pursued by the tribe of dwarf Hory.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
This way I'm hurrying it fat that I can't say.
It can't be very last, but it's got endless. Had
just Flash It was me Kevin have to take a
blind and land against the wall.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
This is a great time to think of that, as.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
I've been thinking of it. Each corner we browned and
those little scenes are kilosterous.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
We came off distance. If we get to that iron
door where they.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Honey, Flash put down, that turns.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
I see it. The iron daughters are. We've made it.
We've paid Flash the matter wall end.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
No, no, the door is bard from the outside.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Oh it is. That makes a cover.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
I'll beaton. See if anybody told us a semi god, yes,
Hell is your queen and gooda.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
No use. Here come the dwarf and behind me. I've
hold them off as.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
Long as I can.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Brandishing the spear of the dead Dwarf King Flash Gordon
places himself between Queen Asaora and the howling mob of
half sized men closing in on them.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
As they stand that the bar iron door.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
There come with dwarves. Azora bend behind me. I hope
them off as long as I can.
Speaker 5 (14:04):
You're a brave man, Flash, but I'm afraid there are
too many for you.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Quite a few less pigments walking around. By the time
they get me.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
A Zora, I'm sure have dead Flash. They seem to
be in a confidence I don't pay.
Speaker 9 (14:14):
A text I don't know I which said hurry up
and come out of the huddle. The suspense is worse
than the actual python.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
I'm going to pound on that door again.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
Somebody must be out there.
Speaker 7 (14:23):
Help ta your queen, Oh God, behave your voice is
or it's no use.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
I guess you are right.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
I know I'm right this time.
Speaker 9 (14:34):
But I was a fool not to listen to you
Azora in the first place. It's all my fault that
we're in this tough spot. I know apologizing won't save
our lives, but I want you to know I'm sorry.
I've risked your life. I only wanted to capture you
as a hostage in order to conquer Tall and your army.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
I believe you flash. While apologies are in order, i'd
like to ask your forgiveness. But the way I've treated you,
it was only because I loved you. Now I remind
you of the saying all's fair in.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Love and war.
Speaker 9 (14:58):
It's only fair to remind you of Orda that I
I love day Laden and I always will.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
I know that, But for once and for all, I
beat her out. What do you mean from the drugs
to attack it. You may love day Larton, but I shall.
Speaker 8 (15:10):
Be the one to die.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
In the meanwhile, back at the palace, General Tall brings
a squad of guards to the cell of Khan the Hawkman.
Speaker 6 (15:36):
R Well, Prisoner Khan, what are you to say for yourself?
Just if this cell isn't as comfortable as it might be, Tall,
you are pleased to Yes, one would think you were
a guest of honor instead of a prisoner.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Not from these quarters, they wouldn't.
Speaker 6 (15:50):
Perhaps you can leave that cell, never to return to it.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
By what means you still believe.
Speaker 6 (15:55):
Flash Garden and Asura are alive?
Speaker 4 (15:57):
I told you I shall never believe Flash Gordon Devin'
I see his body?
Speaker 6 (16:01):
Yes, well, it may not be long before we shall
have that pleasure. Is that so?
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Yes? That is so?
Speaker 6 (16:08):
Prisoner Khan, you forget that I am now king of
a blue magic land?
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Are you saying you are? Doesn't make you a king?
Speaker 2 (16:14):
No?
Speaker 6 (16:15):
And listen, God, am I or am I not?
Speaker 4 (16:19):
King?
Speaker 6 (16:19):
Paul King? Tall King? Call the Oh you hear, Prisoner Khan?
Speaker 8 (16:26):
The guards acknowledge me to.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Be that king.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
They may say so to your face, but I'll wait
till they don't behind your back. But what does this
handful of gods do call you? King, Taul? They aren't
the whole army, They aren't the whole kingdom.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
From the whole army. I'll show you, prisoner, I'll show
you who acknowledges me to be king? Here, God down
the call for review, and you open up the cell.
We'll bring the prison now with us. And now, prisoner,
come out of that cell.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Never to return.
Speaker 6 (16:57):
General, that depends, and don't army, General God bring the
prisoner this way all much?
Speaker 4 (17:07):
May I ask where you are taking me?
Speaker 6 (17:09):
You see, you soon find out wherever we're going.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
It will be better on that sell back there, Honestly, Tall,
if you're going to run this sumter, you might begin
by improving your cell block. Well, what's the matter? Can't
you hold a polite conversation?
Speaker 9 (17:23):
Art?
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Why we're on the parade ground?
Speaker 8 (17:27):
God give this signal to start the review?
Speaker 4 (17:30):
What's all this for? Toll? Do you want the army
to get a good look at me so they'll recognize
me in case I try to escape? On you are
a brave soldier. Praise from General Tall is praise indeed.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
Even though you are a prisoner and face death at
any moment. You are no coward on this review. We
saw you for me, Yet I am having the entire
army passed me.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
For us for two reasons. One is to show you
that the troops will salute me.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
I s chem I see that, Tall, you are getting
the royal salute? What is the other reason?
Speaker 6 (18:01):
And you guess?
Speaker 4 (18:03):
I never guess, Well, Taul, what is the other reason
for this review?
Speaker 6 (18:11):
To give you an opportunity to become acquainted with your.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Troops with my troops. I don't understand you.
Speaker 6 (18:17):
I am offering you the post of commander in chief
of mi ARMI if I will do what? If you
will swear allegiance to me as King.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Paul, first you can call off your review.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
Tall, I'll not swear allegiance to me, most emphatically, no,
very well, God stop the review. Take the Brinton the
back to me, tell and keep him.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
There for the rest of his life.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Meanwhile, in another part of the palace, zark Off, the
scientist returns to day Lardin, who has been awaiting him.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Well, I Amdale, doctor Zarkov.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
I was beginning to see they captured you.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
How could they? They cannot see me?
Speaker 5 (19:05):
That's true, but I was afraid that you'd started to
become visible. Right now? What did you find out? How
it smashed? Did you see him?
Speaker 4 (19:12):
I did not see him, Dale.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
Well, then we have a search for him, Doctor Zarkov.
Let's hurry. You won't be invisible forever.
Speaker 7 (19:18):
I have been searching for Flashdale, That is why I
have been so long in returning.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
Two persons are better than one when it comes to searching.
Perhaps you find him with me helping.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
I hope.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
So, Dale, where did you look for Flash in a
Zoris quoset?
Speaker 7 (19:31):
Flash is not in the palace, Dale, How do you
know that I found Kann a prisoner in the cell block.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
He told me that Flash captured as you rot it is.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
Oh, that's wonderful.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Wait until you hear the rest tale he founded.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
Though you had tragic news, I.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
Have sad news. Just how tragic it is? We shall
not know until we find Flesh.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
What do you mean, doctor Arkle.
Speaker 7 (19:51):
It seems that after Flesh captured the witch Queen, he
carried her off through an iron doors somewhere in the hills.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Oh, Khan was only able to give me a general
direction to follow in my search.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
But it has been of no use I have an idea,
Doctor Zarco. Yes, while you're still invisible, let's free Con.
Then he can help us.
Speaker 7 (20:09):
Search an excellent idea. We are only a short way
from the shell block.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
Come along, Oh, I do hope we find that iron
door on the hill.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
So do I down these stairs there?
Speaker 5 (20:22):
Why should Flash? They have hurried which queen into the hill.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
They were being pursued by the Blue magic soldiers, and
Flash made for the first avenue of escaped.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
But the iron door bars from the outside. They cannot
come out of the tunnel.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
Then we must hurry and open that door.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
Yes, ha, listens, it must be a squad of God's
coming to concil here. Get right the pillar.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
They must not see you, and.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
Perhaps no wish you'd accept my offer?
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Ton never ily, just to only one man, King, Flash.
Speaker 6 (21:00):
Open the cell. I get in there, prisoner.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Forward, fallen marks. All right, come along, Dale, we came
just in time.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Calm Colm, Yes, are you all right?
Speaker 4 (21:23):
Yes? Perfectly? All right? Where's I am here? Con? I
will open these cells? Are did you find Flash, Gordon? No,
that is why we have come back for you.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Dale.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
Thought you might recognize the hell if we got you outside,
I'll do my best come along.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Back in the sunnel of the death Dwarts flash, Gordon
is violently resisting the attack.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Come on you.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Slashing off wonderful.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
I hope I don't get tired before they do.
Speaker 9 (22:07):
I'm sure my men will sue me here by pall
not bad to come as the count man.

Weekly last Sunday? The Comic Weekly, as you know, is

week it contains a half page of wonderful full color
poster stamps of animals, ships, American history, famous persons, flags,
and many other interesting subjects. Each poster stamp is two
and one half inches long by one and three quarter
(25:35):
inches wide, six times as large as a regular three
cent stamp.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
I have one in front of me right now.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
It's a colorful picture of the Santa Maria with sail set,
and below it is an inscription which reads as follows.
Santa Maria Columbus is a flagship.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
It's that sale from.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
Spain with the Penta and the Nina on August third,
fourteen ninety two and landed on the Bahama Islands on
October twelfth, fourteen ninety two.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
Every stamp is different.
Speaker 3 (25:59):

now be available at all leading stores, so be sure
and get your poster stamps in the Comic Weekly section
of your Hearst newspaper next Sunday and next week at
the same time. Another chapter in the Amazing Interplanetary Adventures
(26:22):
of Flash Court.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Welcome back. At least this one ends with our hero
and peril. Of course, it might be a case where
Flash's most immediate danger is neither General Tall or the
Blue Magic Man, but Dale Larden. You might think her
reaction was over the top, but remember this is based
on a mid nineteen thirties comic strip series, and yeah,
(27:41):
that's the sort of thing that would happen on the
last panel of the strip. I did chuckle a bit
when the guard bought CON's explanation that he was talking
to himself.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
I mean, you just had Con rescued by someone who
was invisible.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
A few episodes ago, I thought Flash's apology was heartfelt
and reflected that he was a bigger person and can
Admitti made a mistake. What Asura offered was not really
an apology, but did show supervillabline psychology. Normal people who
might use the all'sphear in love and war axiom have
(28:18):
limits that stop for short of kidnapping someone, putting them
under mind control to get their affection, and turning them
against their friends.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
There are whole YouTube.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Channels dedicated to discussing people like Azora, though the use
of that saying is one of those minor pet peeves
in those stories that are supposed to be sent in
distant planets that are far too earth like. And of
course you have to say in defense of the series,
Flash Gordon is early and this is not for some
(28:52):
deep into sci fi audience. This is for a popular
audience that reads the funny papers. So you don't want
to make things to aliens. So you have horses on
this world and that aphorism, and you have Zarkov reading
the sign which implies the Blue Magic Men use English.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Or some other language.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Zarkov could read, I mean he's a genius, but I
doubt he learned the Blue Magic language by osmosis. And
of course you even see this in modern Sciphi, and
I'm a little less forgiving of it there because we
have had decades of sci fi and it's like, you
don't expect an alien world to sound exactly like Earth,
(29:38):
you know, maybe if it's an Earth colony, you have
people running around using Earth aphorisms and doing Earth things
who have no relation to Earth, and it takes me
out of the story. And of course you do have
the cute explanation every now and again, like in Star
Trek six about the Klingons loving Shakespeare and saying that
(29:59):
Kirk needed to hear Shakespeare in the original Klingon, And
maybe that's what's going on here. The saying all's fair
in love and war originated in the novel Frank Farley
from eighteen fifty. Maybe I just need to read that
in the original Blue Magic Men. For my part, I'd
do my little bits to make this seem a little
(30:20):
bit more alien for modern audiences. For example, for the
audiogram for the previous episode, we had you know, Azora
steering at strange alien writing with an eerie effect and
I felt I could get away with that because in
that episode only Azora read the sign. But at any rate,
