(01:17):
Hello and welcome everybody. I'm doctorJanet Starhall, and I am here because
i have a story to tell andso many of you have a story to
tell to. So what I'm wantingto do is to take health and wellness
and to take your journey to betterhealth and wellness and bring it back a
(01:40):
few steps. I'm going to tryto make things seem simple, logical,
and basic, and that's something thatI think that we have forgotten in today's
time. I realized during COVID thatpeople were beginning to forget what natural health
(02:00):
and wellness was all about. Theywere beginning to forget that they have control
of their health and wellness. Themedical community is a wonderful community to help
us in times of need and intimes of emergency. But if we return
to the basics of eating, exercise, and even spirituality and staying positive and
(02:28):
having a positive attitude, we canlook at challenges that we have with our
health and wellness and we can beginto untie the knots and start to make
sense out of new situations that mayoccur, such as a disease diagnoses.
And I realized during COVID that whatpeople were doing were depending upon the doctors,
(02:53):
the media, the government to takecare of this situation for them.
And everything seemed to be caused byCOVID. If people had an allergy attack,
if they caught just a common cold, they blamed it on COVID.
They worried about COVID, they gottested for COVID. Is it COVID its
(03:15):
COVID? And I realized that weneed to get back to reminding ourselves,
educating ourselves that health and wellness startswith very basic principles. And when you're
in a situation that you need totry to figure it out, you need
(03:36):
to walk backwards, step by stepby step to try to determine how did
this situation start, how did thisbegin? What can I do to help
make this better? What can Ido to fix it? And I'll tell
you how this philosophy got started.I was thirty six years old and teaching
at the University of North Texas.I'm an environment mental engineer, a hazmat
(04:01):
engineer, emergency response engineer, I'vebeen a firefighter, and I'm an environmental
toxicologist. So my background was remediatingtoxins that spilled in the environment. I
had to identify the toxin, Ihad to come up with a plan on
how to remove the toxin, andthen I had to restore the natural environment
(04:25):
back to its healthy, nutritious environment. And this is what I did for
many many years before I got deathlyill. I was commuting across Dallas.
The university was on one side,my house was on the other side.
I had three small preschool kindergarten agechildren, and I had a long commute
(04:49):
to get through Dallas traffic to getto work and then to get back home.
So I started popping out a dietsoda from the vending machine on the
door at the door leaving campus andstarted sipping on that diet drink as I
made my commute home. And Irealized that it would just satisfy me until
(05:15):
I got home to where I couldget something fixed for dinner and take care
of my kids. Well, itwas less than a year that that diet
cola began breaking my body down.Diet drinks were safe back in the early
nineteen nineties. They were promoted asbeing safe, and so I had absolutely
(05:36):
no idea that I was drinking asweet poison. I started gaining weight.
I used to work out all thetime. I've been a fitness trainer for
many, many years, mainly tokeep myself in shape, but I used
to love teaching fitness classes. Iwould jog on my days off, I
(05:56):
would exercise. I loved to liftweights, and I started gaining weight.
So I started looking at that thinkingOkay, what is going on here?
I'm gaining weight. I started gettingheadaches right here. I started getting moody,
my periods were getting off schedule.I was not myself. And then
(06:18):
my hair started falling out. Myskin looked like I was a sixteen year
old high school kid. I startedbreaking out an adult acne, and my
eyes started to My vision started tobe disrupted, my contacts wouldn't fit on
my eyes anymore, and my retinabegan to detach from the back of my
(06:39):
eye. Now keep in mind,I was thirty six years old. I
didn't know what the heck was goingon, so I went to my doctor.
He really couldn't see anything other thanmy symptoms. So finally, one
night, I woke up with theresting heart rate of one hundred and seventy
beats per minute. I could watchmy chest just boom bom boom boom boom
(07:02):
boom boom. So I drove myselfto the emergency room. They admitted me
immediately. My blood pressure was skyhigh, my heart rate was sky high,
my cholesterol was sky high. Mybody was in trauma. And they
didn't know. They didn't know why, and what the heck was going on.
(07:25):
So they plugged me into everything thatyou could be plugged into. I
had little thingies all over my body. I was on EKGs EGS liquid because
I was dehydrated, and they ranall these tests. And so after three
days, my doctor comes in andsays to me, well, young lady,
(07:46):
we have a problem. You weredefinitely ill and you have Graves disease
hyperthyroidism, and we're going to haveto destroy your thyroid with radio and you're
gonna have to stay on thyroid medicationfor the rest of your life. And
I asked him where the heck didthis come from. I'm in healthy all
(08:11):
of my life and I've never hadany health problems at three natural childbirths,
never got headaches, never had aweight problem, never had a problem with
my minstrual cycle. What brought thison? And he looked at me and
he said, well, we don'tknow, but we can fix you and
make you better than ever. Beingan environmental toxicologist and knowing that there is
(08:39):
always a cause for an event, there's a cause and effect for everything.
Nothing just pops out of nowhere.Something's causing it, I told him,
well, no, I'm going togo search for what's caused this? So
check me out. I want togo home. And he looked at me
(09:01):
like I had purple skin, andhe said, Noop, we can't let
you go home. You'll die ifyou go home. No one has cured
grace disease. You cannot cure this, you cannot get rid of this.
You're going to have to do whatI say. And I said, no,
not until I find, to thebest of my ability, what's caused
(09:22):
of this. So I checked outof the hospital and I drove home and
I thought, all right, there'sa cause for this, and I'm going
to find it. And I did. I found the cause. The cause
was the aspartame in that diet CoAthat I had been drinking every day for
a year, and then chewing thediet gum because I had a horrible breath
(09:46):
for the first time, using moreand more aspartain products because I was gaining
weight, I was starving myself andworking out, getting worse and worse and
worse. Had no idea that allof the diet products were the cause of
what was making me sick. Serendipityhad it that I met people that had
(10:11):
similar problems, and I ran intoa woman named Mary Stoddard, who had
begun her research on the dangers ofNutra suite equal aspartain. She asked me
if I'd been using it. Itold her yes, that was the only
thing I had done differently over theyear, except for starving myself more and
working out more to try to losethe weight that I couldn't lose. And
(10:33):
she said, well, I believethat it's the aspartain, so let's start
focusing on that. And I did. Now keep in mind, this was
back in the nineteen nineties, beforewe had all the technology and YouTube and
Google search and all of that,so I had to do my research by
(10:54):
books telephone. I had to callthe researchers and speak with them in person.
I went to the Live Rise.I began researching everything that I could
about aspartain and discovered that it wasindeed a neurotoxin. Discovered the history of
basturdain, which we will talk aboutand which I have written about in my
book Sweet Poison. I discovered thataspartain was what caused my graves disease.
(11:20):
So what I did was remove it, remove all aspartain. I began detoxin
and in six weeks my Graves diseasedisappeared. Now this is a wonderful scenario
and it sounds easy, but itwasn't. It wasn't easy at all.
(11:43):
And one of the things that Iwant to do with this radio show is
talk to people that have cured themselvesfrom disease that have been sent home to
die with cancer fifteen years ago, which will be one of our guests.
And I want to help people getback to the basics of untangling the knot
(12:07):
that they found themselves in do thebest that they can with the help of
their medical counselors, with the medicalcommunity, with their help, also enter
into their situation alternative healthy alternatives, because when you look at the healthy alternatives
(12:33):
and blend them with the help thatthe medical community can give you, you
can heal and many, many, many people have. I also want to
bring back into the spotlight the dangersof the artificial sweeteners. This is something
that we have forgotten. We haveforgotten that drinking that diet cola to take
(12:56):
your anti depression medicine, thinking thatdiet cola could be the source of why
you need that anti depressant medication. So there's a lot for us to relearn
there's a lot for us to resurrectas far as causes of disease, how
(13:18):
to remove those causes of disease, how to restore to your body what these
chemicals have removed. And I wantto remind people that natural health and wellness
is attainable and it is possible foryou to indeed improve your health on your
own. So what we're going tobe doing in Healthy Alternatives is we're going
(13:43):
to be talking to researchers. We'regoing to be talking to suppliers and company
owners of alternative products that are nowon the market today that are really,
really good. We're going to betalking about the dangers of stevia, not
splenda a self k, the downfallsof the sugar alcohols. I'm going to
(14:07):
tell you why sacharn is safe. We're going to talk about stevia and the
history of stevia. We are goingto go through so much information to bring
you back up to speed on thepresent needs of health and wellness alternatives.
And I will explain to you inmore detail how I cured myself of aspartaine
(14:31):
poisoning, how I did it insix weeks. It was not an easy
journey, but it was a journeyto where I succeeded. And so this
is what Healthy Alternatives is all about. And we come when we come back
after the break. This next segment, I am going to tell you about
sacharin, Splenda, Stevia, acek, the sugar alcohols. We're going
(14:58):
to talk about the react that youmay be having to these alternative sweeteners,
these chemical sweeteners that are not publiclyexposed for their health and wellness dangers.
It is an issue, it's apresent issue, and it's been with us
for over fifty years. See afterthe break, welcome back to Healthy Alternatives.
(15:22):
I'm doctor Janet Starhall, and todayI'm introducing you into who I am,
what I do, and how Ican hopefully help you in the future.
We're talking about the diet sweeteners todaybecause this is what got me into
healthy alternatives and natural holistic medicine. When I discovered that asparteain was what caused
(15:52):
me to be diagnosed with Graves disease, which after six weeks, the Graves
disease was gone when I removed theaspartain, so I was misdiagnosed. I
went to a nutritionist at the PlazaHealth food store in Highland Park, Texas
in Dallas, and Steve Fuguy wasa geologist like I am, and he
(16:15):
took me under his wing and Ibecame his protegee. Health and wellness and
healthy alternatives are basically geologic. Inmy opinion. We are no different than
any other animal on the planet. We need water to survive, we need
(16:37):
nutrients to survive, and we needa balance with the Earth to survive.
Human beings are the exact same way. We need to satisfy what our body
needs in order to produce energy supportour bones and nerves, our vision,
our eyesight, our kidney health, blood, sugar health, the whole thing.
And that is to be in balancewith nature and to be I balanced
(17:03):
with the nutrients and the supplements thatnature provides for us to eat and drink
so that we can stay healthy.Well. We've gotten off track for sure
due to technology and drive through restaurantsand conveniences and microwave foods and GMOs and
the whole gamut. We've got alot to talk about on healthy alternatives.
(17:26):
But when I went to Steve,Steve walked me back, which is what
I was doing. I was takingthat year of using asperteam, and I
walked myself back day by day, month by month until I came to the
point to where I found the cause, where I started, where I started
(17:48):
using the asparteam, which is whatstarted my journey towards health disease and Graves
disease. So Steve confirmed that whatwe need to do was to continue walking
down that rabbit hole, going deeperand deeper into the rabbit hole, which
is what I do to help peopletry to figure out the cause of their
(18:11):
disease. Began scrutinizing everything in myenvironment. Determined that the only thing that
I had done differently over that yearwas introduced the aspartain and continue to use
more and more of it as timeprogressed. So removing the aspartain then we
had one and more step going downthat rabbit hole, and that was to
find out what toxins were inside ofmy body and what those toxins had done
(18:37):
to my nutrient levels, and wedid that through a hair analysis. Now,
being an environmental engineer, it wasvery common for me to do a
soil sample, to do a watersample, and to do an air sample.
If a toxin has been spilled inthe environment, well, the first
thing that you do is you putup a protective bound to stop the toxin
(19:00):
from spreading. Once it's been contained, then you need to take your samples
to find out exactly what toxins arein the environment that can cause cancer and
other illnesses in plants, birds, all animals, and in humans. So
(19:21):
I was familiar with that, andSteve, being a geologist, he was
familiar with that as well. Youhave to determine what elements are present in
your body that are causing your bodystress. So we did the hair analysis,
which is what I do now tohelp find the causes of disease.
(19:44):
Not to dog the medical community, but they don't have time to do it.
They don't have nutritional knowledge, theydon't have nutritional background. Medical doctors
do not look and source for thecause of disease. No medical doctor said
to me, huh, to useaspertain. They didn't even know what it
was. No medical doctor said hum. They might ask if you drink or
(20:06):
if you smoke, some of themore common things, but they never really
got down and dirty on what couldhave caused this to appear. Nope,
they don't do that. That's whatI do. That's what a good nutritionist
is going to do. So wedid the hair analysis and determined there wasn't
anything toxic inside of me. However, I had a lot of nutrient depletions
(20:30):
because the ASCAR team, especially theblood sugar nutrients, is going to knock
your blood sugar and your glycogen system, your insulin system out of balance.
What happens when you drink a dietsweetener. It has no sugar in it,
of course, but it's been trickedin the laboratory to appear sweet and
(20:52):
so when you drink it or eatit or chew it and gum, it
signals to your body, oh,sweetness is coming in, and sugar is
coming in. Glycogen is coming in, So produce some insulin to match that
sugar, to metabolize that sugar anduse it as energy. Well, when
(21:12):
the insulin shoots out in your bodyto approach the sugar with a diet sweetener,
it's been tricked. It's been fakedout. There is no sugar there.
So the insulin is going around lookingfor Okay, we've been signaled in
our brain that there's sugar coming in. Where is it? So the next
(21:32):
time you take a sip of adiet cola or chew a new stick of
gum, more insulin shoots out,so before you know it, you have
so much insulin circulating throughout your bloodstream. You're starting to crave simple carbs,
you begin to gain weight. Youhave an overload of insulin in your body,
(21:55):
and this causes blood sugar issues. You're either going to be hyperglycemic,
which means low blood sugar when youreally need it and you crash and burn,
or you're going to be hyperglycemic andthen you're going to be looking at
diabetes. So when you ingest adiet cola, it takes your entire system
(22:17):
off balance. Asper team penetrates throughthe blood brain barrier. So migrain headaches
are the number one symptom, numberone reaction. It affects the eyes,
It causes ringing in the ear.Makes sense, right, Because it's in
your brain. It can cause confusion, depression, memory loss. Hello,
(22:45):
Okay, So if you remove thediet sweeteners, if you're having headaches tonight,
it's ringing in the ear, ifyour retina is beginning to pull off
from the eye. Oh and bythe way, my retina did repair itself
over time. If you have theseproblems and you're drinking diet colas and you're
chewing sugarless gum with ASPARTEAM and fiveor six other diet sweeteners in the gum.
(23:08):
And we'll talk about that at anothertime too. You need to stop
the diet sweeteners cold turkey and seeif these health symptoms go away within a
matter of weeks, and then you'regoing to know the cause and effect.
I wish everything were that simple.I mean, that's a great place to
start, and that is the firstplace to start, is to remove it
(23:29):
from your life. But then youneed to go down that rabbit hole a
little bit deeper, keep going downuntil we can figure out exactly what essential
nutrients these diet sweeteners, these toxicfood chemicals have depleted from your body.
You're not going to restore your healthand wellness as quickly or as efficiently if
(23:52):
you do not address replacing what thesetoxic chemicals have robbed from your body.
So the hair analysis showed that Iwas depleted in the blood sugar nutrients,
and that I was depleted in thenutrients that drove my hormones, and that
I was depleted in the nutrients thatwere feeding my bones and my nerves.
(24:15):
So once I replaced those nutrients.I was completely avoiding the diet sweeteners at
the time, and at that timein the nineteen nineties, there was saccharine
and there was aspartame nutrous suite. So once I avoided all nutrous suite,
and they had to be labeled prettywell in those days, we'll talk about
(24:36):
the labeling as not efficient anymore intoday's time. I restored my health,
so I went in and told mydoctor about it. I did not take
the medicine that he recommended that Itake. I didn't tell him I didn't
take it. But I went inevery single week for a blood test for
six weeks, and every single weekmy blood readings were going back to normal,
(25:03):
and I was getting more and morehealthy week by week by week.
After six weeks, my blood wasnormal, my hyperthyroidism was gone. So
I decided that I would be boldand brave and go in and tell my
doctor what I had discovered and howI healed myself. He looked at me
during that meeting and he said, boy, I tell you this is really
(25:26):
weird. Nobody cures Graves disease.Grave's disease just doesn't go away. But
I guess that medicine that you've beentaking has been working. So I confessed
to him that I had not beentaking the medication that I had discovered what
had made me ill, that itwas ASP for Team in nitro. Sue
(25:47):
and my young internist stood up fromhis desk, turned beat red and said,
I've never heard of ASPER team.I don't know what you're talking about.
You don't know what you're talking talkingabout. I'm the doctor, you're
not. You cannot your Graves disease, and you're wrong. Well, I
(26:08):
very kindly took all the vitamins thatI was taking off of his desk and
swept them back into my bag, stood up and I said, well,
I think I'm right. I thinkyou're wrong. Thank you so much for
everything you did, and I turnedaround and walked up. It's very hard
(26:30):
to go up against your doctor, but I was proof in my own footing,
and I felt confident at what Ihad done. I was back to
normal. I felt wonderful. Andguys, that was in nineteen ninety one.
So the moral to my story isstay confident, be brave, do
(26:55):
your research. It's very important todo your research. And we'll talk about
some of the awesome medical books thatare out there, found in the libraries,
and maybe you can find them onthe archives at Barnes and Noble Half
Prized books, you can order themonline. But there are some wonderful health
(27:17):
and nutrition books that were written inthe nineteen twenties through the nineteen forties.
Things turn south in the fifties andthe sixties for natural medicine and for the
doctors that have done incredible work helpingpeople with disease syndromes control them from getting
(27:41):
worse or curate using natural, healthyalternatives. The politics behind this is really
interesting history. And when you goback and you read books that are written
in the nineteen twenties through the fies, you will learn so much about health
(28:03):
and wellness, how it used tobe, how it used to be in
more balance, how we used tobe able to figure out the causes of
disease much much easier than we cantoday, and how there were natural methodologies
that you could help your health andwellness naturally. These have all been buried,
(28:25):
they've all been forgotten, they've allbeen archived and hidden, and I
am bringing them back to life andhealthy alternatives. So what we're going to
do in the next segment is We'regoing to talk about some of the truth
about sacharin, splenda, stevia, and the sugar alcohols that you may not
(28:49):
know because this information is not outthere, and just knowing this information will
help you avoid helps that send youto the doctor. The doctor has no
clue what's going on. He putsyou on medication. It never goes away
because you don't stop drinking or usingthe diet sweeteners, and you just get
(29:11):
stuck in this loop. We're goingto get you out of this loop.
We're going to get you off thewheel. When we return after this break,
Welcome back to Healthy Alternatives. I'vegot a couple of stories to tell
you, I think because this podcastis kind of introducing me and all about
(29:33):
me. When I have guests on, of course, I'm not going to
want to dominate and tell my stories, and so I'm going to get them
in now. Occasionally I'll be doingpodcasts all on my own, because those
will be podcasts to where I wantto teach you about certain methodologies and share
with you the documents and the informationthat I have found that are no longer
(29:56):
easily available. But I do havea couple of stories that I want to
share and one is about sacharin.I hear all the time. I mean,
it's it's, it's, it's it'scommon because we've been told that sacharine
causes cancer. What we haven't beentold is that that was bogus and not
true, and we haven't been toldthat. In two thousand and one,
(30:18):
they removed the cancer warning off ofthe sacharine labels. So sacharin doesn't cause
cancer. It never has caused cancer. And this is why. Interestingly,
when aspartain was discovered, it wasdiscovered in nineteen sixty five. Okay,
(30:38):
so it's it's been around for awhile. GD Sarah Pharmaceuticals pharmaceutical company was
doing research for an ulcer drug.Well, the chemist dropped his papers and
it's very common for chemists to notwear their gloves or drop their papers and
you know, put their in theirmouth, and he dropped his papers and
(31:03):
he picked them up and it wassweet. So this ulcer drunk that he
was working on was sweet. Andsomebody in the marketing apartment or somebody he
told, came up with, ha, that's really interesting, it's sweet.
They had the paperwork filed through theFDA for a new drug. They changed
(31:26):
the paperwork for a food additive, and they henceforth created Aspartain. So they
began to market Aspartain because sacarin hadbeen on the market since gosh decades before,
long before World War Two, andsaccharine wasn't very popular. The frescas,
(31:51):
the tabs, the saccarin that theywere putting in Kola's just didn't taste
that good. And there wasn't thismass mark maketing and this diet fan this
diet craze. So they thought, okay, there's some competition here. Let's
see if we can launch a newdiet sweetener and see if we can kind
(32:12):
of change society here and make somebig bucks. So they came up with
Aspartain as being a new competitive dietsweetener. Well, shortly after that,
the Monsanto Chemical Company petition to purchasegd Cero Pharmaceutical and they did well.
Monsanto Chemical Company owned the patent tosacharin to sweet one, so now they
(32:39):
have they owned both sacharin and theyjust purchased the rights to Aspartain and they
formed the Nutrous Suite Company, sothey labeled Aspartain Nutrous Suite equal. At
the time that they were launching Nutroussuite. Saccharin was still on the market.
(33:00):
It wasn't a big money maker. They knew it didn't cause cancer,
but they want to get it outof the way. Don't ask me the
logic of any of this marketing. It doesn't make sense to me. But
this is what happened, and it'sall documented in my books, and it's
backed up with the sauce. Gotthe sauce. So what they did is
(33:22):
they did some research studies on laboratoryrats. They fed them equivalent to six
hundred cans of a diet cola dailyand they had saccharine in the mix,
but it was also mixed with cyclamate. We know cyclamate causes cancer. That
(33:45):
has been proven in laboratory studies.Well, the little lab rat developed bladder
cancer. Oh okay, we gotit, we got it, we got
it. Sacharin causes cancer. Theyslapped a cancer warning on the saccharine,
and they kind of blew off thecyclamate, even though they did eventually band
cyclomate because it was proven to causecancer. All right, So they slap
(34:06):
a warning for cancer on saccarn sweetlovedpink pack. But at that time,
and we're talking in the nineteen seventiesat that time, they agreed that the
cancer warning would be lifted in theyear two thousand. Okay, so they
(34:27):
keep soccerne on the market though, which I think is interesting because if something
is a carcinogen, it's typically takenoff the market, like cyclomate was.
But they kept saccarne on the market, interestingly because they knew it didn't cause
cancer, even though they labeled itthat it did. And they shot forth
a media campaign on Nutra sweet Equal. They sent out in the mail little
(34:51):
gumballs that were made with Asperteam, and they just began a marketing campaign and
they just began pushing nutral sweet intothe public realm, and it started this
diet sweetener fad. And of coursewe all know that that diet sweetener fad
changed our society. Diet Collis, athletes were advertising Diet Collis. Everybody was
(35:19):
advertising the diet Colas. So Asperteamtook over the diet sweetener market. Equal
came in the powdered form, butyet you still had your pink packet,
the powdered pink packet form on therestaurant tables, sitting beside the blue packet
of Equal, the brown packet ofbrown sugar, our tu Bernado Purricane sugar,
(35:45):
and the white packet of refined processsugar. So that's the story about
sacharin. So when I tell peoplethat saccharin is healthy, they just kind
of look at me again, likeI have purple skin. My dad was
an in during World War Two andthey would ship in saccharin from China to
(36:08):
India and it was made, okay, from a plant in China, similar
to stevia is made from a plant. They came out with this documentation that
sacharin was found made out of coldtar in a laboratory in the forties.
(36:30):
I never bought it because Daddy toldme that they brought it in from China
and that it came from a plant, that it was perfectly safe. So
that's something I don't buy. Andmy dad is my proof that they brought
it in from China from a plant. But they would put it in little
tiny pellets, and they still sellit in little tiny pellets. Dad used
(36:52):
sacharin from nineteen forty two to theday died. Never did anything to him.
It's never done anything to anybody. So what's interesting is you can't really
cook with it. You can't reallybake with it, but you don't need
to be doing that anyway. Butif you absolutely have to use a diet
(37:13):
sweetener, an artificial sweetener, andthe pink pack is there, grab it
and put that in your tea ifyou can't go without. The other thing
is to remember that even if you'rediabetic, there are ways, and we
will have shows on diabetes. Thereare healthy alternatives for diabetics. You do
not have to be drinking Splenda,Ascar team even saccharine. You can use
(37:39):
stevia, of course, because it'sused as a treatment for diabetes in Central
and South America. The other storyI wanted to share it with you was
about stevia because I've been in thediet sweetener industry anti diet sweetener industry since
(37:59):
the night ninetes. I have somany wonderful friends and researchers and marketers that
are also into the alternative sweeteners. And I had a friend of mine that
I'm going to try to get onthe show. He owns the Stevita Company
in Arlington, Texas. Oscar broughtis from Paraguay and he brought in the
(38:24):
first Stevia into the United States inthe nineteen nineties when he brought in the
stevia, he thought, all right, this is gonna take over. This
is a natural sweetener. For fifteenhundred years, in Central and South America,
(38:45):
particularly Paraguay and Uruguay, they haveused stevia. Sta comes from a
plant which we all know. Theywould chew the leaf. It's great for
gum disease, it's great for alldental health. They would also use it
to treat blood sugar issues, whetherhypo or hyper by semia. And stevia
(39:10):
has never legitimately caused any health problems, any negative adverse health reactions. So
Oscar brings in Stevia into the StevitaCompany in Arlington, Texas. He starts
making cookbooks about how to cook withit. You can cook with it,
(39:30):
Colas are made with it. Nowgums, I mean, Stevia is now
unleashed and set free. But backin nineteen ninety one, when aspar Team
was numero uno on the market, saccharin still hadn't been lifted from being a
carcinogen. Oh no, no,no, no no. They were not
(39:51):
going to allow stevia in the UnitedStates. The FDA showed up at Oscar's
warehouse in Arlington one day and theygathered up all of his cookbooks and all
of his books on the history ofstevia and they burned them. They burned
them for real. When I foundthat out, when Oscar told us that
(40:17):
story, it was like, Wow, this is some serious stuff. They
burned his cookbooks. They prevented diabetics, they prevented children, they prevented people
with gum disease, the opportunity tohave access to a sweetener that is not
(40:38):
only safe with no adverse health reactions, but it's actually healthy for you.
So I tell you what the dietsweetener industry has been after healthy alternatives since
the nineteen sixties, and what weare being promoted now and being told now
(41:02):
about Asper Team, Nutral Suite andSplenda is gaslighting. So while we can
talk about Splenda quickly before our nextbreak, my friends in the UK that
I've been working with for decades,I've been into the diet sweetener and the
(41:22):
Asper Team issues since the nineteen nineties. But they were gracious enough to send
me the original research and ingredients thatthey used to make Splenda. There was
a short window to where this wasby law to be made public public access.
(41:45):
The full cahuna on the research andthe ingredients and all of the documentation
on supralos, which in the UnitedStates is marketed as splenda. So they
captured it and they sent it tome and I published it in my book
Splenda Is It Safe or Not?And the history of how Splenda was discovered
(42:07):
is very very interesting, and we'llgo into this in more detail in the
final segment of the show. Butwhat I discovered quickly here before we take
a break, is that Splenda wassuperlose was definitely researched as a sugar alternative.
(42:30):
Sacharin was not. It appeared again, if my dad is correct,
It appeared from using it in China. Stevia appeared from using it in Central
America. But an asquartain was foundby accident. But Splenda, they actually
did the research to find a competitorfor Asquartain for Nutra suet equal when it
(42:52):
went off the market, and itwas discovered by Taton Lyle Sugar Company in
Britain. So this all came outof Britain. And the most interesting thing
about superlows is that it is seventyfive percent chlorine. So I just tell
people, well, just go takea drink out of your swimming pool or
(43:14):
your aquarium because you're drinking chlorine. So after the break, I'll give you
a little bit of the breakdown onthe dangers of splendor and they will talk
about what you can do. Welcomeback to Healthy Alternatives. I'm doctor Janet
Starhall. Well I tell you what, guys, I have crammed seventy years
worth of aspartame history, diet sweetenerhistory, saccharine history into a quick forty
(43:39):
five minutes. Over the series. Here of my podcast, we will be
going into this in much more detail. I will be taking questions and answers
from you. We will be havingall kinds of guests on the show,
researchers, people that have had reactionsto the diet sweeteners, how they have
(44:00):
cured themselves. We're just going tobe talking about so many topics that are
so basic and so simple, rightin front of your face, sitting in
your kitchen cabinet right now, probablyand that little stick of gum that you
keep chewing every day, wondering howcome you get a headache, how come
(44:20):
you're tired all the time, howcome you're not sleeping very well at night?
How come you're grumpy. These arethings that we are going to be
talking about. Ways you can cureyourself, heal yourself. Now we're not
really allowed to use the word cure, but you can cure yourself from health
symptoms. You can cure the symptoms. Maybe not everybody can cure, maybe
(44:46):
not everything can be cured, butgolly gee, if eight eighty five nine
can help by removing these toxic chemicalsfrom your diet, by restoring you're needed
nutrients, by returning to a healthierlifestyle. I wanted to quickly go over
(45:06):
some of the health reactions from splenda. Because it's chlorine, it can cause
asthmetic reactions, difficulty in breathing,Your allergies are going to get worse,
and it does impact your liver, kidneys, and your bladder. It can
cause skin irritation and skin issues aswell. So to wrap this up,
(45:28):
if you guys are having health reactionsand it's not COVID headaches, vision problems,
ringing in the ear, skin problems, you're gaining weight and you can't
lose weight, Grumpy, your periodsare off, maybe your sexual function is
(45:49):
off, whether your male or female. If your children are acting up and
they can't tell you why and youare eating, drinking, and chewing the
diet sweeteners. Aspar Team sucralose marketin the United States is splenda, but
it is also found in all kindsof products not labeled a splenda, just
(46:15):
found to sucralose. If you're usinga sulfaing k, which has been proven
to be a carcinogen. If you'reusing the sugar alcohols, that's something that
we can do a show about exclusivelyon the sugar alcohols, but those are
used a lot in gum. They'reused in a lot of products as fillers,
(46:36):
not exclusively, not solely. Sugaralcohols are always going to be found
with the other diet sweeteners. They'renot going to cause health symptoms like bladder
problems, kidney disease, migraine, headaches, or even cancer, which aspar
Team has been proven to cause cancermemory cancer in laboratory rats back in the
(47:02):
nineteen seventies and eighties. The sugaralcohols will, however, cause you to
have a lot of gas, alot of bloating IBS, and many times
diarrhea. And sugar alcohols are awreathratal manitol zorpital multitol a wrethrital. I
said that xylatol, all right,so we need to talk about those as
(47:27):
well. What you want to doif you use any of the diet sweeteners
minus saccharine and stevia, if youwant to remove them from your diet completely,
take them out of the kitchen, get them away from your kids,
get them away from your grandma.Remove the diet sweeteners, go back to
some healthy alternatives, which again thatI've given you. Stevia is number one.
(47:51):
There is a gum out there calledsimply Gum. Now it does use
purecane sugar, but people, purecane sugar has been around since the Caveman.
And if you use unprocessed natural PUREKsugar or turbinado or sucanan, your
(48:13):
body is going to use that complexcarbohydrate sucrose glycogen source for energy. You
won't crash with hypoglycemia when you gethungry and your blood sugar is too low.
You will maintain a steady state ofenergy. You will sleep better,
(48:36):
your serotonin melatonin balance will remain. We'll talk about this in future shows.
There is so much to these artificial, fake chemical sugars that affect your body
in stealth ways. Ways you wouldn'teven dream of. So, if you
(48:58):
remove the diet sweeteners from your lifelike I did, get them away from
your children, see if their behaviorimproves, See if your energy increases,
See if you stop craving simple carbsand so much sugar. There are many
alternatives out there. Liquid IV isa wonderful product that you can add to
(49:22):
your yetti of water. Your yettiof water that's healthy for you, provides
electrolytes, is made with pure canesugar. But that's something that we need
to talk about. Do not beafraid of pure cane sugar. Even if
you're a diabetic. Stevia is finefor you, Saccharin is fine for you.
(49:45):
But you can still have some naturalsugar and pure cane sugar. You
can still have some and not beafraid that it's going to throw you into
a diabetic episode. Diabetics can havesome forms of sugar and moderation. And
(50:07):
this is something we're going to talkabout in great detail. We're afraid of
sugar, we're afraid of things. We're afraid of COVID, we're afraid of
getting sick. If you prioritize yourpoisons, which is a chapter I have
in my book Sweet Poison. Ifyou maintain a healthy, low carb diet,
(50:32):
if you maintain the purest organic formof eating that you can afford,
if you exercise, move your bodyevery single day, try to get a
good night's sleep, and that willhelp you restore your immune system, restore
(50:59):
your bodies memory and intelligence of howit can help itself. There are so
many ways that we can support healthand wellness through the alternatives that are provided
to us by nature. You cangrow a garden, drink more water,
(51:23):
eat less processed foods, cook moremeals at home, eat out less,
and when you do eat out, pick a quality ethnic restaurant that uses ingredients
that are more natural. Take yourtime when you go to the grocery store.
(51:45):
Have your children join you while you'recooking so that they can learn about
healthy meals, meal preps, takeyour lunch to work, Go on and
pack your kids lunch for school.Even though it might not be that popular,
it's very important to teach your childrenabout the concepts of basic health and
(52:08):
nutrition. There are so many excitingand fun ways that you can keep your
body healthy by avoiding the diet chemicals, the GMOs, the chemicals, and
our foods, stop drinking the dietcolas, Stop drinking the colas completely.
(52:31):
There are great alternatives out there, and we will be talking about how easy
it is to access these alternatives.I would say that one of the most
basic things that you could do foryourself, and that would be to be
consistent with any changes that you makein your diet. Do your research,

amazing book about taking us back tothe basics of what it was like to
be a caveman and Paleo Diet. Will talk about the keto diet. Is

diet, sweeteners, how to bea healthy diabetic, how to lose wealth
weight healthily. We're going to betalking about all of the consistent habits that
you can introduce into your lifestyle, because habits become a lifestyle, and when
(54:30):
you change your habits and you dothem consistently every day, they become a
healthier lifestyle for you. About thebest thing that I can say for you
after listening to me rant On todayis that there are answers out there.
(54:50):
They're not easy. It takes beliefin yourself. It takes a positive attitude,
it takes standing up to the negativenels. I had to stand up
to my doctor. I had toliterally tell my doctor, I'm sorry.
I think I'm right and I thinkyou're wrong. Have a nice day.
(55:12):
I had to stand up to myfamily members. My family was worried about
me. My parents didn't want meto die, my kids didn't want me
to die. I didn't want todie, but I still had to maintain
a positive outlook that what I wasdoing was right, it was working,
(55:34):
it was working for me. Ihad to believe that it wasn't going to
loom and come back. I didn'twant to live my life with the fear
that my Graves disease would come back, with the fear that I would die.
When we talked to cancer patients thathave been sent home to die,
that have found alternatives and they've beenliving their lives healthy for a fifteen years
(56:00):
or more after they were sent hometo die, when we talk about how
much confidence they had to maintain forthemselves, you will see you become stronger,
you become more self empowered, andyou become smarter. Then you can
pay it forward and share it withothers. What you've learned and what you've
(56:22):
done. We help others any waythat we can. We help others get
strong, find healthy alternatives, findthe practitioners and the counselors out there to
help them. And this is whathealthy Alternatives is all about. You can
always get a hold of me atJanetholl dot com. That's where you'll find
(56:45):
my books, Sweet Poison, Splenda, Is It Safe or Not? I
wrote my Ten Steps to Detoxification, which is a free ebook that I offer
on my website. These are theten steps that I followed to cure myself
from Grave's disease. It was morethan just removing the ascertain It was replacing
(57:10):
my needed nutrients. It was exercising, it was maintaining a positive attitude,
it was believing in myself, andit was continuing to educate others. Helping
others also helped me because the moreI can help others and the more others
(57:34):
yield, the more confidence it gaveme. This is a journey that will
change your life forever. These areanswers that will be provided for you here
at Healthy Alternatives that are hard tofind in the mainstream. You're not going
to hear about them from your doctor, You're not going to read about them
(57:58):
when you search Google. Instead, you're going to find more that this is
a bunch of conspiracy theories and it'snot true, and don't follow what you
hear and don't follow what you see. But I've got to tell you that
