Speaker 1 (00:03):
Everybody. My name is Rick Thatcher and I'm the host
of the Man in the Arena tonight. You're listening on
Facebook and YouTube and we appreciate you being here. I'm
sorry we can't answer your questions and comments. This is
Arthur Lee taking notes. We're gonna start the show, but
we're gonna tape it out of order. That's why you're
(00:25):
not hearing the Mike row song, which you normally hear
that usually that's sweeping across America. We're gonna start with
mister Ray preby mister three thousand. So rerack rerack Wow.
WHOA all right? So I'm gonna count in in three
two one. Hey everyone, we're back the final segment of
(00:46):
the Man in the Arena. As always, we are joined
Arthur by mister three thousand.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Mean, men, women, children, all forms really in the area.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
All forms were. If we're nothing but inclusive.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
It doesn't matter, doesn't judge and the way it should be.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
How would guest for us tonight? Who do we have here?
Climb up here a little?
Speaker 1 (01:30):
But also on YouTube and Facebook, there she is Princess
three K.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Who is.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
A chicken wing right now, don't worry, we have a
life back yes, hey, I'm raised from Cape Coral, Florida.
I am missed three thousand. This is little three thousand.
She was the three thousand person saved by life back.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Thank goodness, you can say three thousand.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
It's been a lot of work. Trust the princess. That
is that knowing okay, you're coloring all right.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
That's a law that we're allowed to speak to her.
Is about thirty seconds and that's she has a sad card.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
That's right, absolutely. But listen, folks, we've got some great
numbers for you, great numbers. You know. Let's throw these
numbers out there real quick. It's been two hundred and
eighty four days since I saved this little princess right here.
One thousand, four hundred and thirty four lives saved, eighty
four days. It's just amazing numbers. It's just you know,
(02:37):
when a parent thinks about running into a situation like
that when their child is choking, nobody wants to face that.
And as you'll hear in a little while from our
Highlight of the week, there's situations when people are trained
professionals and sometimes first ay doesn't work. So folks get
(02:58):
a like that.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
They really quick two hundred and eighty four days. Since
you say, beautiful, maam one thou four hundred and thirty
four lives next week, I want you to make a
prediction that on your one year anniversary, what number we're
going to be at? Just you, okay, because I know
you're good. You and Dot are great at analyzing and
(03:19):
making sure we get proper numbers. So I'm excited to
see what you think and on your you and my
is one year anniversary, what you think that gross number we.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Do have, you know, first available to those folks that
like Ray Priby who have saved a life with Life Act.
A big contest coming up, don't It's in the work though,
and it's going to be big. It's going to be huge, huge,
going to be is it?
Speaker 2 (03:46):
But is it as huge as these numbers that we have. Bobby,
run run that number for me, Bobby.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Seven hundred children, full thousand more?
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Oh yeah, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Are just spectacular numbers. And again you know we're I'm
so dumbfounded on the two hundred and eighty four days
and the four one thousand, four and thirty four saves.
You know, it's just in two hundred and eighty four days,
in less than a year. We're gonna have fifteen hundred
in less than a year.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Oh yeah, well that's uh, that's your homework. There missed
the three thousand. I'm going to have another number that's
going to be on your anniversary.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I'm going to have a number for you, and it's
you know, we'll see what happens. You know, let's get
into the highlight of the week. Shall we do it?
On July twenty seventh, the one year old boyfriend California
choked on a cookie, causing a total obstruction. The device
saved my one year old sons. Sorry, the device saved
my one year old son's life.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Today.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I am a nurse practitioner and my husband is a
critical hair nurse, so they're trained, to say the least,
we both know what to do when someone is choking
my husband. My husband did firm back thrust multiple times,
was zero success. My son was completely blue and about
(05:17):
to pass out when I handed him the life back.
He did two attempts with the life back, and on
a second attempt, the cookie he was eating became dislodged
and he started to breathe again. I mean, that is
just the ultimate testimony, right there that first you know,
the recommended first aid doesn't always work. In the case
(05:40):
of Maya, it didn't work. Then we were CPRS certified,
we were trained, and it didn't work. The life back
is what saved the boy from California and the little
girl right here.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
It's not funny, but it's an important a part of
what we do on this show. When I heard thirteen
years ago the seven year old that choked her that,
I was dumbfounded. He was in the hospital and they said,
you know, why didn't they do you know, the heimlig
in the in the protocol, and they said, we did.
And I was like, what didn't work? Because when I
took the course, they didn't tell me it might not work,
(06:16):
right right, do it until the object comes out? So
she was walking around fully confident that if Jackie choked,
I could use the back cloths and test impressions and
abdominal thrust and she'd be fine. And that was a
moment like I'm sitting there going, what do you mean?
It doesn't always work.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Exactly? And you know, when you're when you're a parent
in face with that situation, you know, it's it's mine,
it's it's traumatic.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Is what it is.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
You know, Arthur and I have spoke to many people,
many different platforms, and again it's it's next so impossible
for me to not get choked up when speaking about it,
because again, as a parent, you go back to that
moment when you know, in the moment you're not freaking out,
you do what you do, you do what you have
to do, but afterwards you're like that I could have
(07:07):
lost her.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Well, think about it too. That part of our obligation
is people as human as parents, is to kind of
address these myths. Right, I did not know. It did
not always work. Right, And I'm sure a lot of
people say I'm trained, I'm good, and the kindness encourage
(07:28):
and appreciation to this family that shared we are trained
and it did not work and right, nothing against them.
We all recommend getting trained, but it's important that the
public know, man in the arena, that it doesn't always work.
And it's nothing against protocol, nothing against Red Cross moment.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
And there are alternatives that you can get a life back. Now,
there is that will increase your chances. And I'm telling
you it's funny. I actually gave away one of my
life backs somebody.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Who needed it.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
That's him ever since then, It's like, oh, wait, I
don't have my life back with you. You know, when
I travel with my with with my family, we always
have one. But when I'm running solo, I'm like, oh,
I don't have my life back with me. I'm gonna
cheo extra careful now because I don't have that. So
so again, once you, once you have it, once you
you live through it, you never want to be without it.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
What seems like there's a slogan coming out of you
at this time.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Is that slogan? I believe it's life ack. Better to
have it and not need it instead of needing it
and not having it. The life you could save could
be your own, or your kids, or your wife, maybe
a stranger you know who knows.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Wow, you're the best, buddy. I so appreciate you, you guys,
God blessed.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Have a great evening.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Soon.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
It's always swimming. Always great to see mister three thousand again.
When Maya is there to her up to make it's
fantastic that she's able to do that because without life
fact and without her dad being there. And for those
we should always mention the two bystanders that came by
just in case mister three thousand didn't have a life.
Fact two other motors, stop buying a Florida Highway. But
(09:16):
it's getting everywhere.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
When you say save a life and four thousand and
four hundred and thirty four number, seeing Maya and hearing
her and she is life. Man, I've hung all life.
She's one hundred miles an hour, fearless, beautiful kid, just
everything you want in a little rambunctious kid going nuts.
But that takes four thousand and four thirty four and
(09:39):
puts a face absolutely. Anyone who's sitting with their child
in their lap and is watching and sees her bouncing around,
that's when you get it. Yeah. And it's not just
the number.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
The flip side of that is the five thousand people
a year that die. Well, we keep you know, we know,
and we know, we know families that advocate now for life.
Fact that fortunately before I didn't know about life. Back
it wasn't around lost a child, and now they advocate.
I think of the Chambers, and I think it's the
were the other families.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Oh godness. Chambers is Colson's crew with Colton is the
Maddox's Improvements, the Brugman's and sadly quite a few.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
And and you mentioned the courage of these folks to
share their stories of the save the highlights safe.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Well, I was right on Those instances are heroes because
they already suffered the loss and their goal is so
no one else does you know. That's that's true courage,
that's kill a mockingbird. That's you're you're already lost, but
you're you're doing it for others.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
And there he is, mister three thousand. You know at
this point of the show, we usually end with mister microw.
So if we have a queue up Micro take us home.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
It's no joke.
Speaker 6 (10:52):
When you choke Toad Life.
Speaker 7 (10:54):
Back and without breath, they'll be death Cigad life back
and live.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Back and.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
God's Life, lie Back Life life Back.
Speaker 8 (11:07):
And it's a little like the time zone him three
two one, Hey, hey Bobby in order, we're still live
on Facebook and YouTube. Don't adjust your sets, but now
we need the opening song, same song again.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
It's no joke.
Speaker 7 (11:26):
When you choked life back and without breath, they'll be
death Cigat life back and.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Live back and.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
GTS Life lie Back, Life Life Back.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
And hey everyone, welcome to the man in the arena.
My name is Rick Facher, along with Arthur Lee and
Steve OLIVERI of course Arthur legend. Yes, and why is
Steve here? Because he's a great guest number one, and
also because he fits the category that you talk about
in your book so already can't is a lie of
(12:01):
a wingman, ultimate wing man.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Yeah, well, we got a kind of cool show tonight.
I think with everything that's going on and some of
the other episodes we cover with you know, you can't
believe what you see? How do we develop friendships when
we can't believe anything? That it was time to retalk
about it. And it also is important because you know
Mike Row's song and we have an awesome guest that
(12:25):
I've come friends with that is his wing man. So
cool show come really gratitude for our friends, I think
would be a good one.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Yeah, Steve, welcome again. Always a pleasure to have you back. Yeah,
how far back now? As far as wingman, were you
immediate wingman to mister arthurly, would you.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Say the first thing I came in we were in
associated in that stupid little closet. You were. You were
just another I was I was, I.
Speaker 8 (12:59):
Was just an age like you in the beginning, and
then I became what they call a lead agent. And
from that point on, I was kind of like when
my book kind of like six months after we met. Yeah,
that work out worked out wonderful.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Was he tough to manage?
Speaker 8 (13:16):
Uh, you know he operations, you know, being specific on
paper and stuff like that. Wasn't a strong He wasn't
a strong suit. But his selling ability was always as strong.
His personality is able to talk to people, his passion
selling the product he was.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
He was an inside guy.
Speaker 8 (13:38):
For a long time and he was just making things
happen all the time. He kept on building stuff and
bringing more accounts in and stuff like that, which eventually
led him into becoming an outside rep. When after he
became an outside rep, he were vice president in no time.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
It said something, I just made it up. I made
my own position. I had my own assistant, which is
really the president's assistant, winging in and yeah, but you
would always I used to interrupt Norman and I need
Terry Firman and be like he was the owner of
the company. Yeah, but his assistant charge friends and so
(14:12):
she would like do my admin work. But it really
got to the point where I'd be like, I'm trying
to get some work done, and even such a good guy, you.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Must have appreciated because you were doing work for the company.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, And I just I used to get
yelled at for running because I would run in the
office to get just getting stuff done. And I remember
going by Loose Santangeo's door, so I would run to
the door and then i'd walk real quick and then
run against But I guess looking back, I might have
looked like a little bit of a lunatic because I
(14:44):
remember getting looks from like all the regular people because
I'm this little schmo and customer service, and I'd be
in meetings with the president, the owner of the vice
president and me, and they'd be like, what the heck
is that kid doing.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
You know, I can see it now, but and you've
talked about this where you didn't have the passion that
you have now. But I believe that you did saying
that I'm representing like shipping or logistics and doing those
types of things, and now you save lives.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Well, I was always one hundred and tent whatever it was.
And you know, I go back to when I cleaned
rooms of grumming, and I brought in my cleaning splies
and my chrome. I took apart the sinks and cleaned
them better, and they were like blinding. But you know,
you don't and you don't know how much you meant
to me in that. And you know, that was my
(15:33):
first kind of comeback from the accident. Right, So I
had my accident. I got my shoulder operated on and
it move apart, and it was all these problems. And
then you know, I was now graduated. I had worked
in air freight for a long time, but in you know,
driving the truck, working on the dock, and then I
did some office work and it was really nothing. I
(15:54):
didn't know what the heck I was going to do.
And it came in and got an interview and got
the job. And when I first came in, we were
in a little closet. I mean it was.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Probably a little this whole area.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Seriously, it was him, this guy Rick kal Kak. It
was just me, you and kyl Kak.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
And then Larry Healy was the guy that was the.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Manager of He left like soon after I was, and
then it was the Allen Yes, right, yes, but this
is just a few listening. That was what forty years ago. No,
we're sixties, so yeah, it was great around yeah, und
around forty years but him being who he is, became
(16:36):
a friend of mine. He says, you know, you were
kind of quiet in the beginning. It's such a lunatic.
I was still trying not to kill myself, you know,
just because literally, Yeah, it was very true in my life.
But when you go into the wingman segment and combining
it with some of the challenges of being on your
phone and texting, you don't know the impact someone can have.
(17:00):
Like in our audience, my friend from second grade, right
I came up with the life back. He's like, I'm in,
what do you need? And I think it's more important
than ever to talk about our wingmen and women and
honor them well and just share the importance of developing
those deep friendships and the good ones, the ones that
(17:20):
will last a lifetime. Second grade and when I was
doing life back in the beginning, most people that they
didn't know for the forty years or in second grade said, yeah,
good luck with that.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
You're crazy.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
You take a sing plunder and change the world. Yeah,
of course you are. Holy cow, honey, don't answer the
door when that guy comes by, Well you were the
first one. Well, first off, Steve the story of me right,
because I was a wingman to you that.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Yeah, let me ask you before Steve, before you get
into the story. I'm just curious because I'm thinking about
it in my head that you know each other for
a while through work. How many other people visited you
when you're with your mom in the hospital.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Is a lunatic cousins?
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Okay?
Speaker 8 (18:03):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah, it's you know you really,
what do.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
You expect anyone from work?
Speaker 4 (18:10):
No, nobody from work came. No. Author was the only
guy from work.
Speaker 8 (18:13):
But you know, sometimes you really find out when you
really need help, who your real.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Friends are, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 8 (18:18):
So when your cards are down, those are the people
you know. And I also think that women come in
and out of people's lives to help them. Some people
don't even realize they're a wing man, you know, and
all of a sudden they're gone, or some people stay
together forever, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
So I have anything on a wingman the ability, because
have people like that too that you cannot talk to
five years, you'd pick them up. So I'm in town,
my car broke down. They'd say, I'm on my way
right because they're in there. They're in there, you're in
theres and you know they're in yours.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Yeah, got your back. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (18:51):
So I was down, my mom was in ICU and uh,
next thing, I know what, he's outside ic you calling
me saying, hey, what are you doing. I'm here to
hang out. You know, helped me because you know it
was tough. It was a tough time, sure, And then
we went down to the cafeteria and we started talking
about choking, and that's how the whole story.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Well, no, we were upstairs in the waiting where your
mom was like just buying the door and freaked me out.
And then we go down to meet you crazy cousins,
and I'm starting to expand and they're like a lot
of people they thought I was created.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Yeah, a lot of people hearing this for the first time.
So talk about you know, you relaying what you saw
the day before.
Speaker 8 (19:28):
Well what happened was when Autie was there, there was
a gurney and I said to Ardie, you know, last
time I was in the hospital, I watched the child
pass away from choking, and started with that story. And
then from that story in the in the hallway really
where the gurney was. Then we went downstairs into the
cafeteria and then we started elaborating a little bit more
on the story. And then what happened was the next
(19:49):
day Aldi didn't sleep all night, right, which is not
unusual for me to get a text message in it
didn't sleeping, and he sent me a picture of a
prototype that he made that and it was there was
a product that was out of the out of and
he put a mask on it. And he actually called
(20:09):
the guy I think you actually called it.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Oh, I was trying to see if I get to
see you two cartridge to make it spin quicker, to
create more suction and you click it like a gun.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
But what did the iar wax guys say?
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Well, it turned out they were total scam and they
avoided the.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Fortunately it was safe because they were dealing with iarwax.
Speaker 8 (20:30):
Yeah, so then, uh, you know, he said to me,
I can't get the story out of the head.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
So you know, we talked.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
About a lot of things. Yeah, we have a very
funny story.
Speaker 8 (20:39):
Yeah, we have God and telling an intellectual conversations going
over that's another story. So you know, he said, I
can't get into my head I'm gonna vent something and
kind of like, okay, but I'm.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
Used to that, you know.
Speaker 8 (20:53):
So I'm like, and I read the book already is
space by the.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Way I get the book, Sorry, can't is a lie.
Speaker 8 (20:59):
You can get it now through a publisher, but you
can also get at the website life back right.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
But you know for Amazon.
Speaker 8 (21:04):
For me him saying that I know something's going to
come out of that, most people are like, okay, whatever
you want to do.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Eventually it came out of it.
Speaker 8 (21:12):
I knew like he was hot on it, and then
eventually he did his first.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Rob To keep in mind that when we spent we
spent ten years that associated and he and I worked together,
you know, ninety nine percent. He was my boss. I
was in trouble. But you know, after that, I started
my own company and Steve was developing fantastic mass on
Global and I told him that'll be part times ste
(21:38):
And then twenty years later, the kid almost died because
he worked forty eight hours a day. But uh, we're
going to that was when I started, I asked.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Yeah, he came.
Speaker 8 (21:48):
He literally Audi Fund gave me a little bonus and
like he was was actually investing starting a trading company.
It was basically selling Holly Davison's overseas.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
That was the idea, well together, way back, great idea.
Speaker 8 (22:02):
He comes over and I'm working on my mom's bedroom.
You were in a closet and he comes just the
mom that Arthur fell on.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
Yes, all right, fall on. I tackled it.
Speaker 8 (22:14):
The great thing about my mom is she soul lie
before she passed on. Yeah, and she said to me,
she held it in the hands and said he's got something.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Finally said that she knew me as a.
Speaker 8 (22:24):
Little yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and she knows you know,
And what did you tackle her?
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Again?
Speaker 3 (22:31):
I want to hug She was big and we fell
over the bed and got stuck in between the bed
and the wall. Things happened, and I think we've.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Covered this on Early Show and Miss Olivery came in
and said, Steve, could we could.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Have a hundred shows on me? And to circle back,
I don't know when we're going to break. When are
we going to break? Four minutes? So the circle back was,
you know, the development of wingmen in your life. And
then because of this, going from being in a closet
and him and his back and doing something right and
(23:03):
the ability to embrace your wingman. You know, I was
looking Jaggie as too, you know, And I have Lenny
sitting here from second grade, Stevie here forty years Mike
saying a ball, l a stupid wingman. But they were
there a handful, right, but not one or two. And
I worry with the phone that they'll be not like
(23:24):
I don't know how you get the depth of the
relationship like we did right. Our immediate friends were geographic.
It was the guy next door, same block, someone you go.
I used to ride my bike to Lenny's house and
that now you could be texting. And it's concerning because
(23:44):
to do what we did right with life back, you
really need wingmen. And those are people that are going
to be there and take the risk and you know,
take a dream and say maybe you can do it.
I'm in I'll ope you. So I think the story
in today's segment is about being conscious. You know, who
(24:06):
are you wing man? How do he be one? How
do he get one? And what you can accomplish when
you have them. So you know, we are the ultimate
example and the fact that you know I was in
the lowest bot of my life when I came into
that stupid office and it really, in essence saved my life.
(24:27):
And you know, you were a publig part of that,
so you didn't know, you know, not a long time
before we ever approached.
Speaker 8 (24:34):
That, all right, Right, So it was quite interesting we
went out for the first time because when he because
when we worked, he was just being this guy rict.
He was just a quiet little guy and he never
really talked. You didn't see him in the element o.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
My god, when I saw.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Him, probably a good time.
Speaker 8 (24:52):
So he comes out to meet my friends and I'm like,
we're gonna lie very well we're doing and then Foxes.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
That was the first time we all went out.
Speaker 8 (25:04):
Yeah, like you know, I I brought some of my
crew different than I didn't know was back up because
I don't know this guy was.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Up to and I'm looking at him.
Speaker 8 (25:14):
My friend's like, your friend's really nutty, dude, he's really nutty.
That's the same guy that I work And I remember
talking to Rick.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
I'm like, he's crazy because.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Because he had concerns about me, we had.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
Some concerns and then we all found it. Yeah, well listen,
we have another wingman for micro coming up. When we
come back from the break, so join us on the
other side for more of the Man in the Arena.

micro Works.
Speaker 6 (26:45):
Everybody, hold your blouse.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Oh stop, you heard it?
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Man?
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Did you hear that? Because you insisted on applause to.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Be on the show.
Speaker 6 (26:52):
It's in my rider for sure, there it is.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
We signed that contract. What uh did were you listening
to the first part there, do you hear us?
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (27:00):
I heard about fifteen minutes you guys talking about the
wingman stuff. I'm really curious as to how you wound
up on Steve's mom's.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
Yes, you know, you know that's a teaser in the business.
That's like Fansie jumping the shark. He got to tune
in next week to find out about me tackling his mom.
But for you, I mean, the one of the really
cool things that has happened as we tried to get
the world out there is you meet different people, you know.
(27:29):
And when we met Chuck and we did that segment
with Mike that he was so gracious to have me on.
You get to know them, right, and you were doing
a segment with Mike you have the exact language with it.
But you said something, He said something like, how long
have we known each other? Right? And how long have
you known Mike?
Speaker 6 (27:51):
Forty four years? Maybe something right?
Speaker 3 (27:54):
And then you know, we had the good fortune to
hang out and to go to you know, Brian Kill
Me show. Yeah, through the Valley of five you got
to you.
Speaker 9 (28:09):
It was it was a good time and it's good
that you bring that up because I was just looking
through my photos and uh, you were a wingman in Vegas?
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Ah, yeah, you go.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
We were walking through the casino and somebody said, is
that Chuck?
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Oh that's right?
Speaker 6 (28:25):
Will you remember this? Yeah, pretty blonde comes up? You
are you Mike Rose?
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Chuck? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (28:31):
Like, well I've never been called that before, but.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
Yeah, take it. That was hard. You were a celebrity
there with you. Man, I was flighting up, which isn't hard.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Listen to listen to this thing that I just called
from the internet. Uh. Micro was asked, you know, how
do you how do you get to be Chuck? How
do you get you? How you get to be a wingman?
And he said, that's easy. Be my friend for forty
two years, show up whenever I tell you to go
and wear whatever costume I tell you to wear. There's
only one Chuck Klausmyer. I'm afraid, and he is in
(29:04):
much of what I do. Because the older I get,
the more important old friends become, especially ones with talent. Wow,
the attack video.
Speaker 6 (29:14):
Where'd you dig that up?
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Rick? Mike Grosarts write it because he was worried that
you were going to dump him. Hey, how nice is
that that you didn't even know that.
Speaker 6 (29:26):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what that where
he said that, but that sure is nice.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Now you feel me like you heard the thing, and
me and Steve will go way back. And my second
grade friend is sitting in the vast audience so too.
But that's Mike, right, Yeah, how'd you first meet Mike?
Speaker 9 (29:44):
You know, I don't remember the exact moment, but I
know that it was in high school. I believe it
was nineteen seventy eight or seventy nine, one of those two.
And we were we were both in the music class, okay,
and uh yeah, well we both sang bass at that time,
so we were sitting next to each other and we
(30:06):
became friends.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
We should we should mention, No, no, I was just gonna say,
we should mention that Chuck is part of that song
is part of the life. That of course right here?
You love it?
Speaker 4 (30:18):
Oh I love it?
Speaker 3 (30:20):
But let me so, let me so what in your
because see, when we're older, we don't have to rely
on faith. We have a basis of education. Right when
you're younger, you think you guys a great guy, and
you hope that they'll be there for you and you'll
be there for them? What is it? How do you
what do you think it was that made you guys
(30:41):
stay together?
Speaker 9 (30:44):
You know, we we could tell each other anything, right,
you know, and you know I can count on one finger.
Speaker 6 (30:53):
Maybe the times that we've been mad at each other?
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Do you really count on one finger? Isn't that just well?
Speaker 6 (30:59):
I can only think of one time it really wasn't
you know? It was really not girl. The way that,
the way that Mike.
Speaker 9 (31:07):
Describes it is is that the older we get, the
more old friends mean.
Speaker 6 (31:13):
Yeah, And I think that's really true.
Speaker 9 (31:15):
You know, it's it doesn't matter how much time passes
in between seeing one another. When you do, everything falls
back to where it was the last time you saw
each other. And you can speak in a shorthand. We
used to finish other finish each other's sentences in high school,
you know.
Speaker 6 (31:30):
And uh so it's it's just all and just endless
practical jokes.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Oh my gosh, oh my god. We were at dinner
and they were tell me, so, remember Laura was tempting
to come up with some scary Oh.
Speaker 6 (31:43):
Yeah, she really she was determined to scare me.
Speaker 9 (31:46):
But so many crazy things, you know, happened over the
I remember one time being in a bar with Mike
and we were standing off in this corner. I went
and got some drinks. I came back and we were
standing there and there was a pipe that was going down,
you know, like in the corner. It was just was
(32:07):
just a pipe by itself. And Mike said, man, this
pipe is really weird. It's like if you press into it,
it just uh, it just flexes, you know. And and
I go, really and he and he pretended to do it,
and then I and then he goes give it a try,
and then I pushed into it.
Speaker 6 (32:24):
The thing was as hot as the sun, and I
just was immediately like what He must have laughed for
two hours.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
But you know what, that's such a valid and important
point of wigman. And we are allowed to goof on
each other, We're allowed to torture each other, we're allowed
to play jokes. And I think as we distance ourselves
from the intimacy, really is right it said. I can
know I call Steve four in the morning and tell
him something and he'd say, great, you know, shut up
(32:54):
the idiot. But he would pick it up. And if
I was stuck, he'd come and get me, you know.
And we've known he tell this since fair Field on
the soccer field and you explaining how you're going to
tell mister Watson time and goal all the time and
show him. And I'm like, I thought you.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
I thought you would be an agent for me.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
Probably would have been five.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
You were a neighbor, mister Watson.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
Yeah. No, I love mister Watson's job. But I guess
the point is that to share for the audience and
for kids and for people that the embracing the people
that are there and could be there. And you know,
look what you and Mike have done, Like look what
you've accomplished together, and you know that's pretty cool.
Speaker 9 (33:41):
Yeah, it's it's it's been a it's been an amazing ride. Honestly,
you know, I I never expected to work for my
best friend, right, you know what I mean.
Speaker 6 (33:49):
It's just it was the furthest thing from my.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
I used to work for my best friend. He works
for me. Maybe much easier I think working.
Speaker 8 (33:59):
Yeah, he's getting into the office.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Yeah, Chuck, that's that's a cool thought.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Chuck. There's a there's a story here I have about
you securing a job for micro at the Baltimore Opera.
Speaker 6 (34:16):
No, actually, that's that's incorrect. It was it wasn't.
Speaker 9 (34:20):
It wasn't me at the Baltimore Opera. That was another
guy named Mike Gellard.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
You cannot trust the internet.
Speaker 6 (34:26):
You can't trust the internet.
Speaker 9 (34:27):
No, but I'll tell you I did get Mike got
me a job working at American Eagle Outfitters, the.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Same American Eagle Outfitters that are now embroiled in a controversy.
Speaker 9 (34:39):
Yes, indeed, although nobody looked like Sidney Sweeney when we
worked there, let me tell you. But it was in
Golden Rings, one of the first malls in the country,
you know. And uh, he got me the job. I
came in there one day he told me he was working.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
I walked in.
Speaker 9 (34:53):
I'm like, what are you doing in here? He's like,
I'm working. I go, well, how do I get a
job because I don't know talk to this guy? And
you know, two days later I was working there as well.
And so one day on my lunch break, I walked
around and there were there were movie theaters in the
mall and there were like seven of them or something.
Multiplex you were multiplex, so like one of the first,
(35:16):
Like I'd never seen a multiplex before.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
And I loved the movies, and I knew Mike loved
the movies.
Speaker 9 (35:20):
So I applied there, got a job, and I came down.
I said, hey man, you know cause the movies were
upstairs and the American egle was downstairs.
Speaker 6 (35:30):
I came down.
Speaker 9 (35:31):
I said, I just got a job upstairs. I think
you should come up there. And sure enough he came
up as well and got a job.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
You got to hear something crazy. This is crazy, this
is wingman. Why I couldn't even write this, I can't
really write You and Brian and the gang all worked
at the mall, worked at the movie Who got the
first job there?
Speaker 1 (35:50):
John Cooney actually came down to Brian. Yep, I got
Brian other guys that we went to high school with.
But so Brian killed me game and joined us. The
big question was what color was your tuxedo jacket? Oh? Red?
Us two a United Artists.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
Because look what happened him and him and Mike went
on to this incredible team create. I mean, Mike row
is awesome and his is Will Rogers approached the common
sense in life, and chuck's's wing man. So there their
team and you and Brian do a show and Chuck
has some experience with doing shows with daked people. But
(36:29):
we'll get to it. Yeah, but think about that, think
about that. What year do you have any idea what year.
Speaker 6 (36:39):
That I was United Artists? Oh yeah, it was like
eighty eighty one, right around, right around, think about in Maryland.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
In Maryland, there is.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
A potential that Chuck and Micro went to work the
rib tickets and you and Brian went to rib tickets
and Brian and.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Let a lot of our friends.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
In have them on each other's shows.
Speaker 9 (37:03):
Amazing, Rick, did you ever get any of the one sheets,
you know, the posters?
Speaker 6 (37:08):
I have a couple that I'm like, I can't believe
I have it.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
I have Neighbors John Belushi and dan Aykroy Vice Squad,
which was a movie that no one really, Yeah, no
one really. No Neighbors was great, But tell me, Arthur
wasn't the most prevalent movie that everyone wanted to see,
and it was in there was eighty one or eighty two,
but Arthur was Dudley Moore was there appropriate.
Speaker 9 (37:31):
We had a lot of them with the Shining came
through History of the World Part one, but the mo
But the movie poster one sheet that I have and
you know. The way you know it's an original one
sheet is it has the creases they used to fold
up the posters and mail them to the theaters.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
True story.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
But I have Raiders of the Lost Arc.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Oh wow, that just so fun. It's something you probably
would never sell because it's more memories than it is worth.
Let's have worth, you know.
Speaker 9 (37:58):
You know I've never I've never even look it up
at everybody I tell about it. That's got to be
worth something.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
Much more than my Vice Squad.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Ivice Squad might have been the choice.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
We quoted that movie, Mike Rogosa and I and Brian
would quote that movie and lessen because it was that bad.
It was like bad opera.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Yeah, well sometimes if it's that bad.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Wings Houser was the story he was he played Ramrod,
but didn't let you.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Know this is really a Vice Squad movie. The premiere, Yes,
but is it so they think about that? So these
two teams are in the movie did with the red
velvet jacket? And then we've all seen those two on
TV interacting. Right.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
I wonder if Brian when I saw Micro on Brian
Kilnead's radio show talking about you, Arthur Lee's amazing amazing
little clip where he said, you know, hey, I want
to thank you for introducing to your friend. And Brian
looked a little dumbfounder at first, but then oh yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Made Ane bringing me up to him.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
But I wonder if those two guys, Brian and Microw
know that they were both U A ushers around the same.
Speaker 9 (39:12):
You know, I don't think so. I don't you know,
we've never talked about it before. I was surprised to
hear it, Rick.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
So another read I'm going to mention it to him
back on the show.
Speaker 8 (39:19):
Movie was I was gonna say at your era, I
was an usher at the r k O Movie Theaters
competition jacket black brown with the big lapels.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
At some point, at some point U A did go
to brown and it was this. I was out of
there by that brown with A with a cream colored
shirt and the red and black.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
This show was going to go to movie and tire.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
Nobody knows.
Speaker 9 (39:47):
Let me tell you one of one of the one
of the the extra things that I did. I don't
know if you did this, Rick, but we had a
giant marquee that was on a major road where the
mall was right so and it had seven movie theaters,
so I could make an extra twenty bucks if I
would go and change the side.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
You climb up the thing.
Speaker 9 (40:06):
No, no, no, had a giant you know pole, you
know extender pole, and had a suction cup at the end,
and you would like put the You would lay out
the letter the letters on the ground and then smack
the suction cup on the front of it, lift it
up and try to hit it in this where you
need to hit it, and then pull the string to
(40:26):
unsuck the thing.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
It was.
Speaker 6 (40:28):
It took probably two hours to change.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
But they never they never allowed any Rockaway.
Speaker 8 (40:34):
I worked on Rockaway Boulevard. No, they used to give
us a ladder. Would nobody go myself? No safety once someever,
here's dirty letters, go up there by yourself.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Seventeen They threw me twenty.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
The ladder was completely rusted out.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
Really no protocol.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
No see where was ocean when you needed them? Right?
Speaker 7 (40:57):
Was?
Speaker 3 (40:58):
Definitely it was.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
Yeah, And that was a job I had to do
in the rain.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
I just know it was like the milman like you
don't want Yeah, I think it's really cool and I
appreciate you being on because that those moments to come
up like that, right, are real symbols of wingmen. Right.
We we worked in these stupid jobs together. We laughed together,
we grew together. You know, those jobs don't exist. You know,
(41:26):
he can't work at the mall and it ain't there.
You know, it doesn't exist. And you know they changed
the sign with a with a flick of the switch.
And you know a lot of the a lot of
our friendships were from those jobs, and and you know,
experiencing the good luck, hope you don't die go change.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
Then this next question might be prying a little much,
But did anyone get in trouble?
Speaker 2 (41:52):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (41:53):
Chuck for I guess uh running their own ticket booth
at the doors.
Speaker 6 (41:59):
It's no, we were smarter than that trick. We never
got in trouble.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
No, no, of course.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
Yeah. I don't even know why.
Speaker 8 (42:07):
I asked let my friends in the back, and then
you know the manager comes on one day. We didn't
sell one ticket for that.
Speaker 4 (42:18):
How is that possible?
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Well?
Speaker 3 (42:19):
I remember the exciting dig was with the multi theater.
How you could go to the movie theater, you go
in the bank room, bolves in the here when they
changed on the other line, and all these fantastic schemes
that were made together.
Speaker 9 (42:32):
So go ahead, Sorry, I got I got one thing
that that we we used to do all the time.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
This.
Speaker 9 (42:38):
I started this and then Mike and I would take
turns whenever we had a packed house. You know, one
of the one of the jobs you had to do
is to go down to the uh uh, you know,
to the thermostat and check the thermostat in the theater.
In our theaters, they were always down underneath the screen
or off to the side. So you go down there,
you get your little pen light and you look, you
(42:58):
check the temperature, and then you walk up the center
isle again.
Speaker 6 (43:01):
Well, I would walk up the.
Speaker 9 (43:02):
Center aisle and then I would turn around and look
and then trip over my own feet and just go
ass over teacups, land on my face and people would
just go oh and they would they would want to
help me up and everything like, and I would limp off.
So I told Mike, I said, take a look at this.
I did that once, and then we would just that.
We would amuse ourselves because when the movies are playing,
(43:24):
there's not a lot to do. Yeah, get up all
the popcorn, and then there's a lot of standing around.
Speaker 3 (43:29):
Well. See, that's the other thing that they'll never experience
is the boredom of sitting. I worked at the beach
and picking up garbage, and if it was rainy day,
you kind of just sat there and looked at the
sand would rain on it because you didn't have a phone.
You didn't have You just sat there like boob and
your mind would wander. But you know, we used to play.
Remember we played basketball with the garbage and we'd be throwing,
(43:51):
you know, and making fun of each other. But that's
another thing of wingman man a big big ICs.
Speaker 8 (44:00):
This week's game and Chuck and you stick around. We
got a time for a quick break and you'd stick.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Around, or we got to out. Yeah, absolutely more with
Chuck and Steve and Art and myself. We'll see you
right back. After this message, she.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
Started to choke on a piece of candy.
Speaker 4 (44:29):
She wasn't breathing.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
Then Ray reached.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
For the life back and it saved her.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
She could have easily died that day. A life back
saved her life.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
What I would say is, don't need a life back
and not have it.
Speaker 4 (44:42):
Have a life back and hopefully never need it.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Recently, the American Red Cross has added anti joking devices
as an option when standard protocol fails or is not feasible.
Speaker 6 (44:53):
Go to lifeback dot net or called eight seven seven
five four three three eight two to two.
Speaker 1 (44:58):
And we're back on the Man in the rear again,
Rick Thatcher along with Arthur Lee to your inventor of
life back, and Steve all the very director of operations.
Also and hold the applause for Chuck klaus Meyer. Chuck
klaus What what would you like to talk about it
with our vast audience? What would you like to talk
about Chuck? With your work with Microw?
Speaker 9 (45:20):
Oh well, I mean, you know we we we do
a podcast, a weekly podcast called The Way I Heard
It with Microw, which is.
Speaker 6 (45:28):
A lot of fun.
Speaker 9 (45:29):
We've been doing it since gosh, I think it's been
almost ten years.
Speaker 3 (45:36):
Wow, we've been doing can you give well? First off,
people people listen to Micro's podcast Chuck, their guests, their
their messages. I mean, I think you know it was
like spend the time Ben Carson and I wish he
would be ten minutes in everyone's house, change the world.
Listen to Mike and Chuck and uh, you know it
brings ract reality to the world. So in the ploy world, please,
(46:01):
you know, let's get some common sense and wisdom and
friendship back into the world.
Speaker 9 (46:07):
So well, listen, Arthur, thank you for that. And I
just want to say that it was great to have
you on the podcast. And I can't tell you, like literally,
one of the most proudest things I am of what
is the fact that sixteen people are alive today because
(46:27):
somebody heard about your product on our show.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
Yeah, but that reinforces the show you might do because
the addresses real issues. You know, I guarantee you guys
have saved lives in other ways, whether they put someone
on the right path or inspired them or you know
all the work you do with the trades. And the
cool thing about that is quantifiable. You know, these two
(46:52):
guys save those lives because when we get the report,
it has heard about it on my brother and I
got to tell you the other really cool thing about that,
the people that ordered from seeing the show nicest people
on the planet, every single one of them. We never
had a kind of a mean, a jerky no no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
You've got a good audience.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
Well, and I think it's a beautiful thing because of
his and Chuck's message of common sense and friendship and
all the things that they talk about but thanks for
bringing it up, because that is the coolest thing ever.
And I remember when we were at dinner and getting
to know each other how fun it was, and that
the background of it meaning you can develop friendship and
(47:39):
change the world, which is really the Wingman philosophy.
Speaker 9 (47:43):
Absolutely, absolutely no, and I I really do appreciate. I
appreciate what you do so much, and we are going
to have you back on, Arthur.
Speaker 6 (47:52):
I know Mike promised.
Speaker 9 (47:53):
You said come on back when you get a thousand,
but who knew you were a thousand like.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
That coming up on five thousand, That's what I mean.
Speaker 6 (48:00):
So when you hit five thousand, you're coming back on
for sure.

thousand and four thirty four, so regardless the uh, it's
working and you guys are a part of it, and
that's that's what really matters.

Inviting me to come out to Vegas where I got
to meet that little girl.

Uh? Two? I think it's feel like two.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (48:32):
I think she was like eighteen months when it happened.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
Yes, you know, remember her eyes.
Speaker 6 (48:37):
The beautiful eyes, beautiful eyes, beautiful baby.
Speaker 9 (48:40):
Yeah, and it was I remember the mother saying, you know,
I felt like she was it was a first time parent,
and she's like, I feel like I've got everything under control.
Speaker 6 (48:50):
I'm prepared for anything. The only thing that scares me
is what if the baby chokes.
Speaker 9 (48:54):
And that's how she came to get your product and
came to need it.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
Think about the beauty of that trip, right whose wing
man and we felt that you we won you there.
We saw the valley of fire, we saw the mountains,
and we got some you know, spirituality and grace and
humble and then we meet a kid that we saved
together and amazing. I want to jump from you know,
maybe dragging a little bit to kind of remembering how
(49:20):
wonderful things are and how we can do something with
our wing man. That was definitely a trip to prove it.
Now we dragged Rick out to one of these your
next we're going to make you do something stupid.

that much of a factor. I felt like I was
gonna chuck literally blown into I tapped out, unfortunately.
Speaker 3 (50:01):
Making you touch a hot poll on the Yeah, that's
pretty much what we did.
Speaker 4 (50:05):

Speaker 1 (50:06):
It was great. It was great, well, Chuck, And then
I appreciate you being there for us in Vegas witnessing
probably one of the worst uh at least audio portions.

with Brian.

Speaker 9 (50:33):
And I love I loved the fact that you guys
were partly inspired by Six Degrees, which is the show
that Mike and I did. Yeah, you know, so, uh,
you're Rick, You're kind of the Chuck counterpart I think,
you know, in putting on.
Speaker 6 (50:48):
Several hats to play different roles in something.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
So remember he did reference, he did reference. I want
to do something like Mike does. Mike doing this were
they bring history to life in a fun way, and
we do that. We're gonna have a new next show.
I don't know the exact day, but it's coming up
in Dallas.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
Cocktail joke, shrimp cocktail joke.
Speaker 3 (52:02):
The shrimp cocktail joke.
Speaker 6 (52:03):
I don't remember that.
Speaker 3 (52:04):
Oh god. So you had like a nice little drink
and someone went to grab a shrimp and it fell
right in his drink, and Mike Punko you ordered the
shrimp cocktail. Obviously, if it was anyone who split second
to be that kind of corny, but it was instantaneous,
the shrimp in his drink, and punk says, you ordered
(52:25):
a shrimp cocktail. And I was like, that's the kind
of guys you want to hang out with. You can
nail a joke in the now. Do you remember that?
Speaker 6 (52:34):
Yeah, I do remember it. Yeah, once you mentioned it. Drink, Yeah,
that was pretty That was a really great trip. That
was a lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (52:40):
I had a plast It was a lot of fun.
And like I said, as the combination of nature and
spirituality and the save and then just camaraderie laughing. You
attracted all the women in the casino.
Speaker 9 (52:53):
It was just one as I recall, and uh, you
talked to her friend while I talked to her, and
then as soon as she said she mentioned her husband,
you were like, hey, we got to go.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
I'll look at the time is what he's You really
don't want to get killed?
Speaker 3 (53:06):
And vegans we're talking to someone's life walking through and
you wear a star and they all start coming over.
It's horrible.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
All right, guys, Yes, what's that?
Speaker 9 (53:18):
Going back for the now, I can literally say I've
had two appearances.

Speaker 8 (53:26):
Coming up, we're gonna be with Ray Preedy clause for chalk,
and we're gonna be back with Ray Preedy, mister three thousand.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
After this break, I'm.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
Walking see you bet their life back simple choking rescue
advice and saying thousands of people thirteen years ago when
I came up with my back, the designs can be
safe and simple, simple push and cold the events systems.
When you push it down, the arrow go out, the
side walled out, the boxing. With any success, there's going
(54:02):
to be copies. And normally that's that's the way that
you know. I beats at the registered manufacturer in New
York a lot of these products, and this is one
of the most popular ones. It is made in China.
But the real problem it's about ten to fifteen dollars cheaper.
If you put your finger open this, you won't be
able to put it down. Now, I understand when he's
(54:24):
going like this is someone's live in state. So if
you bought this and make sure you can practice, you
don't put your claim. If you put it like this
or like this, it won't work and you loved one's
going to die. I understand and buy a cheaper product,
but you have to also remember when to buy a
cheaper product, you get a cheaper product in someone's live state.
(54:46):
So if you're thinking of buying it, make sure you
understand you can populate this well too. Someone you love
owns this, make sure that they music you had to
wear it and panic situation not because of this event,
but the strictly a ps A like obviously ill you
buy a life back to the stud and I know
(55:07):
if I need is to last forever. But if you
do go with this, please be careful. Ten bucks in
my life and stay thank
