wants to make it. Many successfulhospitality property owners that I've talked to over
the years have one thing in common. They enjoy what they do. Not
that every day is a barrel laughs, but there's enough happiness generated to see

a property through rough times. Hereare some examples of things you could try.
Encourage your employees to take a fewminutes every day to get out for
a short walk. It has beenproven that just a few minutes can energize
the body and boost creativity. Letthe employees make their work environment a place

they enjoy being. For example,housekeepers keeping notes of thanks or pictures of
their family or their vacation in theirwork area. A'm memento of a pleasant
experience that might make them smile whenthey look at it. Laugh. Yes,
professionalism is very important, but thatdoesn't mean you can't smile or joke.

A smile or a joke can becontagious, and when you're happy,
endorphins are released, which are naturalpain and stress relievers. Compliment your coworkers
every day. You actually feel justas good giving compliments as you do receiving
them. Check in with your colleaguesjust to say hi or drop a note

to see how they're doing. Canbrighten up a day significantly. Be appreciative
if somebody is willing to go tothe extra step, let them know how
much you appreciate it, which makesany work day better. If you're lucky
enough to find something you're good atand enjoy doing it, you're less like

to think of it as just work. You don't have to come up with
these ideas yourself. Go online tosee what others are doing, or ask
for ideas from your employees. Givingemployees a chance to cut loose a little
bit every day there will be muchmore appreciative and productive when they need to
