When you think of "safety," what is the first thing that comes to your mind? It is possible that it is a nice and cozy house, a serene garden, or the people closest to you. For the Safety and Well-being, Joe Perciavalle believes that safety is a matter of one’s freedom to get a home paid for at an affordable price, work, healthcare, education, and to create social spaces, besides just keeping away from crime. Safety, however, has become irrelevant as the only thing people discuss when it comes to public welfare is crime. However, can we sincerely say that we are safe if we go through eviction, joblessness, or are dealing with mental health disorders such as untreated ones? Safety is not only the act of protecting ourselves from harm but it is then safety that brings more.
