Se l’idea di una vita dopo la morte è un fondamento del pensiero egiziano, essa non potrebbe concretizzarsi senza la presenza di un oggetto essenziale, legato alle pratiche della mummificazione e della sepoltura dell’individuo: il sarcofago, “Signore della Vita”.

Passeggiando per le sale dei musei, questi reperti sono molto comuni, ma presentano una variabilità estrema per aspetto, dimensioni, forme e materiali. Com’erano fatti? Da chi? Per chi?
