(00:00):
Welcome to the Memorizing Tarot Cards podcast, your three minute lessons to learn and memorize each card using symbolism.
(00:07):
I use the Rider Waite Tarot deck if you like to follow along with your own cards.
Today, we are diving into the meaning behind the King of Wands.
We will start with a breakdown of what the Wands mean, and the role of the King in the court.
The second part will dig into more symbolism to help you look at this card.
Remember it, and tell a story.
(00:28):
First, let's start with talking about Wands, then a bit about court cards and the role of the King.
Wands represent our emotions, fire, and passion.
Examples are new ideas, creative projects, seeing potential and gaining motivation.
The court cards show us aspects of ourselves or others in our lives.
They embody personalities, characteristics, and stages of personal development.
(00:52):
Next, let's talk about the King's role in the court.
The King represents the element of fire in its most mature form.
He embodies the culmination of the Wands' journey from the spark of an idea to realizing goals.
Next, let's look at the symbolism to help you memorize the meaning of this card.
In the Writer-Wait deck, the throne is on solid ground showing his stability.
(01:16):
Also, the throne and his shawl have many salamanders, which indicates transformation.
The sky is blue, showing that the environment around him is positive.
The King's gaze is forward, reflecting his focus on the future possibilities and his readiness to take action.
Putting it all together, the King of Wands is bold, has unwavering confidence and is a leader.
(01:39):
He can inspire those around him with passion and vision.
Next, let's cover the astrology associated with this card.
The King of Wands does not have a one-to-one connection with a sign.
However, astrologically, the King of Wands embodies the highest virtue of the fire sign.
Leadership?
He can inspire and motivate like a Leo, the courage and determination to begin new ventures like an Aries,
(02:04):
and the foresight and enthusiasm for exploration like a Sagittarius?
He represents the capacity to dream big and execute those dreams with confidence and authority.
Now that we have covered the basics, symbolism, and even a bit of astrology,
how do we apply this knowledge to a reading?
Looking solely at this card, you would take its meaning and apply it to the meaning of the position in the spread.
(02:27):
The King of Wands encourages us to pursue our ambitions with determination
and to lead by example, using our power to affect positive change.
If it appears in the current position, the King of Wands is a positive sign that you are on the right path and to keep pursuing your dreams.
In the past position, it shows that something you started previously is continuing to show promise in your present.
(02:51):
How do I memorize the King of Wands when I was learning Taro?
Instead of memorizing the divine meaning of a card, I memorize the symbols we discussed, which help me memorize many cards.
And of course, I kept practicing.
My key memorization strategies are, of course, to memorize that Wands are about feelings.
Also, remember that the Kings are leaders in the court?
(03:13):
I also look at the colors, the sky, and the ground.
The sky is blue, which shows a positive outlook, and the ground under the throne is solid.
The Solomonor's signify transformation.
As we covered, there is much more symbolism to draw on, but starting with those basics will help you begin reading cards.
Memorizing the symbolism takes repetition as well.
(03:36):
As you listen to these three-minute lessons, you will have consistent reminders of symbolism that apply across different cards and series in the deck.
Thank you for listening.
