Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, everyone, Welcome back to another episode of Let's Talk
to Tings, where we discuss personal growth, travel, music, beauty
and wellness while encouraging you to live fearlessly and fabulously.
I'm ash and this week we are talking to Things
(00:22):
about one of the Caribbean's most remarkable destinations. Most remarkable
destinations a place that blends luxury, sustainability and authentic and
authentic island culture. Grannada for millennials and gen Z travelers.
(00:44):
For millennial and from millennial and gen Z travelers, Grenada's
rise signifies a unique opportunity to experience an island that
offers both relaxation and adventure in an environment that feels
like home. So grab your tea, coffee, or a glass
(01:04):
of wine and let's talk the Things by this season,
Grenada is often referred to as the Spice Island, and
it's a destination that's always been synonymous with natural beauty.
So think turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and lush rainforests.
(01:28):
An absolute dream, especially for those of us who are
keen on a blend of luxury and sustainability. What really
sets Grenada apart from other destinations? To me? While other
destinations in the Caribbean. Isn't just the scenery, though it's
hard to deny that the landscape alone is really reason
(01:51):
enough to visit. But for those of us who value
conscious travel, Grenada is leading the way with eco tourism
initiatives and parts partnerships that ensure its natural resources are
protected for future generations. That's brilliant, right. You know, we
visit a lot of these islands, or even if it's
not an island, just places you visit, and you really
(02:14):
hope that future generations can see what you're seeing because
a lot of times, if you've been to Egypt or anywhere,
that there are artifacts there that have been there for hundreds,
hundreds of thousands of years. Sometimes they're not in their
original form because you know of just anything that could
(02:34):
have happened to them. So I think that that's really
an important initiative and partnership from its efforts, from its
efforts to preserve the coral reefs and protect marine life
to supporting local farmers and artisans, Grenada's tourism development is
not just bringing in more visitors, it's about doing so
(02:55):
in a way that respects and nurtures the islands environment.
And culture. What really sets Grenada apart from many other
destinations in the Caribbean isn't just the scenery, though it's
hard to deny that the landscape alone is really reason
enough to visit, But for those of us who value
(03:16):
conscious travel, Grenada is leading the way with eco tourism
initiatives and partnerships that ensure its natural resources are protected
for future generations, which is so amazing because you know,
you want your children or your children's children to be
able to see what it is you're seeing now, you know,
(03:38):
and a lot of times in certain environments that doesn't
happen because certain places aren't preserved and certain natural resources
aren't preserved. So I think that is really a beautiful
initiative that they have from its efforts to preserve the
coral reefs and protect marine life. Grenada is making efforts
(04:03):
to preserve their coral reefs and protect their marine life,
to support local farmers and artisans. I really just think
that their tourism development is not just about bringing in
more visitors, but it's about doing so in such a
way that respects and nurtures the island's environment. So yeah,
I think that's brilliant and I think that that is
(04:25):
really something that all in all, will help with tourism
and will help with persons wanting to visit because it
will preserve just the beauty of the island. There's something
particularly special about Grenada that attracts discerning travelers like myself,
and I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe
(04:48):
it's the intimate resorts that offer personalized services and the
sense that you've discovered a hidden paradise, or perhaps it's
a seamless fusion of luxury with local culture. So for
millennials like myself or gen Z travelers, I think Grenada
provides the perfect mix of indulgence and authenticity. So what
(05:13):
I mean is imagine staying at a five star resort,
but instead of a generic experience, you're welcomed by locals.
You're welcomed by locals that are eager to share their
island story, whether that's taking a private room tour, visiting
an organic spice farm, just talking to a grandmother and
(05:34):
auntie on the road, or indulging in a private sailing
experience along the coastline. No, sah, I can't feel the
island breeze right now as I'm talking about it. Anyway,
in episode five, I briefly spoke on one of Grenada's
award winning luxury resorts, Silver Sands, Grenada, and you guys
(05:57):
absolutely loved it. So I thought we would dig a
little deeper, since this whole episode is about Grenada, and
explore Silver Sands just a little bit more, along with
a couple other luxury properties, so to refresh your memory
for those that listen to episode five and for those
that did not, Silver Sands, Grenada is a property that,
(06:19):
to me is the epitome of caribbea luxury those wooden
floors at modern design. It's located on the pristine powder
white sands of Grand Aunt's Beach, and it combines temporary
elegance with the island's vibrant culture, from world class dining
to luxurious spot experiences. It's a destination that I believe
(06:45):
guarantees relaxation but also offers things like water sports and
curated experience for the more adventurous traveler like myself. Now,
I am a traveler who loves to relax on vacation,
but I also like a little bit of adventure. You know,
I don't want to be bored, so yes, I make
(07:06):
time to relax, because you know, you don't want to
come back from a vacation needing a vacation. That defeats
the purpose. But I like doing adventurous things, So like
a little paddle boarding, a little surfing, a little snorkeling,
maybe swim with some sharks. You know, live on the edge.
You only live once, right, Okay, maybe not the sharks.
(07:27):
I did it once and zero auto ten. I will
never do it again. But definitely it's good to stay
somewhere where you can get a little bit of both worlds.
But I think what's truly unique about Silver Sands is
their commitment again to sustainability, right because we talk about
wanting to vacation somewhere, wanting to visit somewhere that really
(07:51):
cares about their environment and preserving their environment. So they've
integrated eco conscious practices into every facet of the rooms,
which I think is great. So from their locally sourced
ingredients to their energy to their energy efficient design. It's
a luxury that doesn't compromise responsibility. And you know, if
(08:14):
you've been listening to this show for a while, we
are all about responsibility on this podcast, and if you're
looking for something even more exclusive. Silver Sand's Beach House,
which recently opened, seems like the perfect escape. Now I
wouldn't know because I have not been there, but just
by looking at the photos and reading about it, it
(08:36):
seems like the ultra It seems like an ultra private
beachfront property, and it seems to offer and it offers
a personalized, high end experience for those who want the
ultimate level of privacy and indulgence. So if your chest
is high and you have the funds, this one would
(08:58):
be in my opinion. Just by the looks of it.
You can see that there are stunning villas that are
perched on sand. It's ideal. It seems ideal for those
seeking tranquility with a little bit of refined luxury. So
you're not just staying at the resort. You're kind of
entering a world of privacy where every detail is tailored
(09:22):
to your every need. Now for a more intimate experience,
Spice Island Beach Resort. Spice Island Beach Resort is known
as one of Grenada's finest resorts. And I've heard and
read great things about this resort. I believe it's actually
(09:42):
family owned, so yeah, that's a nice touch and it's
also set on the island's famous Grand Aunt's Beach and
Spice Island Beach Resort. Really it offers a blend of
luxury and warmth. It seems like very homey. Even from
the reviews that I read, a lot of people said,
(10:03):
you know, they feel like home when they go there.
So I always like reading reviews like that because that
means that the staff and anyone you come in contact with,
that usually means that they make you feel welcome, and
I think that's a wonderful thing, especially when you're on vacation.
Spice Island Beach Resort it focuses on This resort focuses
(10:24):
on wellness, local culture, and personalized service. That makes it
a standout destination. And the resort has stunning accommodations that
are also complemented by a lot of holistic experiences. So yes,
you have your spa treatments, but they also offer yoga
sessions on the beach, which, yeah, that sounds fun. I'm
(10:46):
more of a pilates kind of woman, but I would
definitely try yoga on the beach. That sounds like a
good time. Spice Island Beach Resort, it's also a great
choice for foodies, because the resort boasts gourmet dining that
highlights local ingredients like the island's famous spices, ensuring that
(11:08):
every meal is memorable for every part of your state.
So it's a place that seems to offer this feeling
of both opulence and deeply and it's deeply connected to
the islands cuisine and culture. And I think that's great
because I really don't like when you go to places
(11:30):
and they're trying to appease, they're trying to provide a
more international cuisine to where you don't get a taste
of the island or the place that you're staying. I
think it's good when they offer a little bit of both,
because people come to these islands to taste our Caribbean food.
They don't come there to eat Italian all day all day,
(11:53):
you know. They don't come there to eat pizza all day.
They come to taste our food. So it's good to
have options and good to offer trave both. I think
that's brilliant. So one of the highlights of Grenada's cultural
is one of the highlights of Grenadian culture that we
briefly spoke about in episode five is spice mass and
(12:13):
a lot of you said that you've been to Spice
Mass or you're planning to go, or you've heard about it.
I have not been, but I hear it is an
amazing time and it's really deeply rooted. It's actually one
of the carnivals that I think is most rooted in
just cultural just a lot of cultural aspects, right, And
(12:36):
I don't know if that's a fact, it's just from
what I've seen. So it's held every year in August,
and it's basically a lot of color costumes music Soca
jab Jab is their genre of music, and it draws
visitors from really everywhere. You know, it's not just a festival,
(12:57):
like I said, it's really a living, wreathing celebration of
Grenadian culture. So if you're lucky enough to experience it,
or you're lucky enough to be there during that time,
I think attending, even if it's just to watch the
parade or to go to some of the FETs, and
those are parties for those that don't know what FET means,
(13:20):
I think it's a brilliant idea. You know, you get
to see the beautiful costumes or wear the beautiful costumes.
If you decide to play masks, you get to hear
a job job again, which is exclusive to Grenadian culture,
and yeah, I just think it would be an amazing
time to just be able to hear steel bands and
(13:41):
hear that to electrifying soundtrack of just different blends of
music as you walk through the streets of Saint George's.
And I really think Spice Mass is where tradition meets
passion in a way that makes you feel truly alive.
And we spoke about it on the episode with Kemba
Joe when she was talking about Trinidad Carnival, and even
(14:03):
the episode with Gabye where we're just saying just about
Soca in general, for example, and this sense of freedom
and just to kind of forget your worries for that
day or for those couple hours. So I would imagine
Spice Mass is very similar. Beyond the festivities, Spice Mass
(14:24):
offers travelers a chance to immerse themselves in the island's heritage,
connect with locals, and experience Grenada's unique spirit firsthand. It's
a time when the whole world comes together to celebrate.
It's a time when the whole island comes together to
celebrate their roots, and it's undoubtedly one of the most
(14:46):
exhilarating ways I think to experience the true heart of Grenada.
What excites me most is that Grenada isn't just becoming
a destination for those for those who seek rest and relaxation.
It's becoming a place where travelers, especially younger travelers like myself,
(15:08):
can make meaningful connections with the environment and with their
own sense of purpose. I hope you're I hope you
are as inspired as I am to plan a trip
to Grenada. You know, from its breathtaking natural beauty to
(15:28):
its remarkable growth and commitment to sustainability. I think that
Grenada is not only a viable place for a vacation,
you know, solo vacation, girls trip, family vacation, A top
tier luxury destination for sure, but it's one that I
think stands as a model for the future of tourism,
(15:50):
where travelers are now not just wanting to you know,
lay on any beach or go to any resort. They
have certain expectations, and I think that Grenada is really
doing a good job of meeting those expectations. So, if
you are someone who values so if you are someone
(16:10):
who values authentic experiences, sustainability like I've said, and luxury
that's both indulgent and conscious. I think Grenada is the
island for you. Whether it's your first time, or your
second time, or your tenth time, the island has something
(16:30):
new to offer every traveler. Thanks again for joining me
this week, and whether you're planning a relaxing getaway or
looking for the adventure of a lifetime during Spice Mass,
Grenada continues to offer more than just its picturesque beaches.
It's a destination where you can truly connect with culture, history,
(16:54):
and a community that's welcoming and inclusive. And of course,
and of course, if you've enjoyed this episode, don't forget
to share it with your travel loving friends and family,
