In the name of Christ. I am your radio Apostle.
Apostle John E. Ross, moderator and host of this podcast
and founder of Omega International Prophetic Ministries. Many thanks to
you for tuning in for season ten, the Season for
Divine Order and the Let's Talk to the Lord gospel

(05:22):
radio talk show and Kingdom. Our guest for season ten
of Let's Talk to the Lord is pastor, recording artist
and Bible teacher, Pastor Pinckney. Pastor Pinckney, welcome to Let's
Talk to the Lord.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, thank you for having me. Man, I'm excited to
be here. Man, appreciate it.

Speaker 9 (05:44):
And Pastor Pinckney, before we go further with our interview
and discussion, briefly and in your own words, please describe
the story of your life.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Oh that's a good question, man, If I can put
it in in these short terms, The story of my
life has been very interesting, challenging, but at the end
of the day, God is a fair God, and so
it's been very fair. But it's been interesting, challenging and fair.
And I say that in that order because where I

(06:22):
come from, usually we're told we're not supposed to them
on to nothing, and where I come from, definitely, you know,
God is not a headshit God. God doesn't play a
part in your journey. You know where I come from.
You know, when we come from the bottom, it's kind
of like we come from, you know, the forgotten place,

(06:43):
and so very interesting, very challenging, but yet so fair
because God is such a just and fair God that
when I look at it in the nut hill, it's
been definitely fair. And and I'm I'm glad. I'm glad
for my journey because it's my journey, and I'm glad
about it. I wouldn't change anything. It happened exactly the
way it was supposed to happen, and you know, I'm

(07:05):
happy to be able to share it with everybody.

Speaker 9 (07:08):
The patri Pickley, please tell the Kingdom when and where
Christ found you, and share a little of your journey
to relationship with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Again. I love that question. My story is kind of
typical in the sense because I grew up in church,
so from knee high to graduation. You know, I grew
up in church. But you said something interesting about when
the Lord found me and my relationship, and that didn't
really happen until probably after I served in the military

(07:48):
and when I got out the military and about mainety four,
it's when I experienced homelessness for the first time. And
that's what the Lord found me. He fell me at
rock bottom where I probably pretty I started from, and
he's helped me and he loved on me, and he
told me the promises of my life, and then he

(08:09):
changed my life dramatically. And so I'm very humble and grateful,
uh for knowing the Lord and for him uh finding
me and not giving up on me.

Speaker 9 (08:20):
And what is your calling and purpose to the body
of Christ and in the Kingdom of God.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Man, I'm called as a pastor the preaching the good
News of Christ. And as an artist with my music ministry,
I'm called to h to give God glory and honor
through worship through through the music and so and that's
what I try to do. With being the founder of
Pointing to the Cross ministries and being the founder of

(08:51):
Potular Creatures Music ministry. That's that's our mission, and that's
that's our goal and I aim, and that's that's what
we're here to do.

Speaker 9 (09:01):
Man, Kingdom. Our topic for discussion is prayer and fasting Kingdom,
Isaiah fifty eight and sixty claires. Is not this the
fast that I choose to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the

(09:21):
oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Kingdom? As
I began doing research on this topic, I found several
places online that said that fasting is not mandatory or
God does not command us to fast. However, I believe

(09:42):
it to be impossible for our spiritual strength and spiritual
health to be maintained without fasting and prayer. But what
I will agree to say is it's the purpose of
or the reasons why we are fasting. Kingdom. I agree

(10:03):
that there could be a negative or negatives to fast
outside of our relationship with God through Christ, meaning we
should not develop a habit for fasting and praying for things,
or imitate the Sanhedrin or Pharisee. But the purpose should

(10:25):
be to strengthen our faith and bond with God and
his will for us through Christ, by taking our eyes
off the things of this world, so we can turn
our attention to Christ. Kingdom. Fasting is not a way
to get God to do what we want or to

(10:48):
acquire things, but fasting should be done to strengthen our
bond and strengthen our spirit man to go closer to
God and to know his willy will then speak and
or do what he says according to God's will, to
receive according to his will. Kingdom. Prayer and fasting is

(11:11):
not used to make us look holy, but we fast
and pray to draw us closer to Him, God's which
will increase the anointing and the power of God's flowing
through our gifts and callings and purposes. Not to exalt ourselves,
but so God is shown mighty in our lives next

(11:36):
to show how not to show how gifted we are.
Because there is a difference. Even though it seems to
be a slight difference, it is a major difference. We
fast so that we remain rooted in Christ and not
in our own flesh. Abilities. Pastor Pickney, please tell the

(12:01):
kingdom what God released to you upon your heart. For
our topic of discussion, fasting and prayer.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
One of the things. And I really liked how you
had said that, and I and I think that this
is important because even as a as a pastor and
a man of a man of faith, I know, experiencing
with a lot of believers, a lot of people don't
really identify with faster than prayer, and a lot of
folks really don't it's not really part of their their regimen.

(12:35):
And so what we want to remember is it's sort
of it's sort of going to go into like the
purpose in a sense, but what we just want to
remember is, uh. One thing that really stood out with
what you said, which I'm in total agreement with, and
it's what I want to just piggyback on. That is
is why do we fast? And And it's all about
God and that you know, it's it's it's we're not

(12:58):
fasting for cars. We're not we're not we're not fastening
for jobs in the sense, we're fasting to draw closer
to God for guidance, to get directions at times you know, well,
I know we'll talk about it in a second about
some of the reasons on why we do it. But
fasting in praying, I want to just make sure the

(13:18):
Kingdom understand is that it's a strategic tool used by God.
It's written for a reason, so it's definitely a part
of our walk, is definitely a part of our faith,
and we just need to really remember that. And I'm
really glad that this is the topic at hand, because
I think fastening praying is something that the Body of
Christ we definitely need to talk more about. If we

(13:40):
look at the times and that we're living in, we
can definitely use a lot of fast and a lot
of praying as far as the Body of Christ. So
great topic, man, and I'm glad to be a part
of it.

Speaker 9 (13:51):
And King the Amplified Bible declares, rather, is this not
the fast which I should use to undo the bonds
of wickedness, to tear to pieces the ropes of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free and break apart every
enslaving yoke, Kingdom? Isn't this the fast that I have chosen?

(14:17):
Is God's perspective on true fasting over ritualistic or fleshly
fasting for things, Kingdom, to break the chains of wickedness.
This signifies liberation from sin and injustice. This is a
call for repentance and transformation, which is the next important element.

(14:43):
Fasting in prayer is to be used to help transform
our lives. The next is to untie the cords of
the yoke Kingdom. The yoke symbolizes sin, burdens and demonic
o prayer, Kingdom, fasting is a tool that unties which

(15:04):
is a active role in untying those who are bound.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
And not.

Speaker 9 (15:12):
For your glory, but God's glory, providing liberation and deliverance
channeled through the Holy Spirit and in our hists and
talents and preaching and teaching by the power of God
the Holy Spirit. Why to set the oppressed free? This

(15:34):
declares our purpose, Kingdom. This is why we fast and pray.
This is the mission of Jesus and should be ours
also to free the demonic captives. Why to open the
door for blessings to be released by the power of

(15:55):
God and a open heaven according to His will. And finally,
to tear off every yoke. Tearing off the yoke Kingdom,
I like to say, crush and destroy the yoke so
you are never entangled again. This is the ultimate deliverance

(16:16):
found in Christ Jesus fulfilling the prophetic vision of not
only liberation but restoration kingdom. Fasting and prayer are also
another form of worship. So Pastor Pickney please tell the

(16:37):
listeners and give them your information on what God has
released to you about fasting and prayer. And we would
like to specifically speak in this question if fasting and
prayer should be done together.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
There's nothing should be done together, even if you look
that it from a demographic anything that's with and brings
two things together, peanut butter, a jelly, fast and praying,
so they definitely need to be done together. And from
a parabolytic place, the fasten is the is the like

(17:21):
physical side of it, and the praying is the spiritual
side of it. So it brings that balance. That's why
it's required. The faster and the prayin it takes care
of both the physical and the spiritual elements. And then
we also know from the description that it said it
told us descriptions teach us that some things only come

(17:42):
out by the faster than praying, So there that identifies
it as being needed in our walk. For those who
don't think that it should be a part of our walk.
Some things that we will encounter through our journey with
Christ only can be dealt with through faster and prayer.
And that's what the scripture say. So we definitely do

(18:04):
the fasting and the creme, and the reason why is
because we cover both the physical and the spiritual side
of things.

Speaker 9 (18:15):
Amen and Kingdom again, these are some of the genuine
purposes in fasting and Kingdom. To loose the bonds means
that fasting is the right in the right way, goes
to the roots. Kingdom understands the things the thongs of
the yoke fastened to the yoke onto the head of

(18:39):
the accident as they plow, meaning the fleshly or Pharisees
kind of fasting which lays heavy burdens on us. But
the fast God shows for us crushes the twofold yoke
of our demonic selfishness. And ceremony your forms of fasting.

(19:02):
So the key elements we should seek when we fast
and pray are demonic liberation and our relationships with God.
So God can use us to free those who are
held captive by the bondage of Satan and sim So,

(19:23):
Pastor Pickney, how do you use fasting and prayer with your.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Ministry very interesting because I don't do me personally. I
don't do any assignments from a pastoral place in the
poulpit or from an artist's place on a micro stage
without fasting and praying at least the day before the assignment. Now, obviously,

(19:52):
in cases when the Holy Spirit is leading me, it's
done to three days sometime a week in advance, but
I may sure of when I accepted the call from
both the pastorial place and the artist. I always told
God that I always want to be faster and pray
that the day before the assignment, because I just sometimes

(20:13):
we just don't really know the capacity of how God
wants to use a swell way on assignment, and I
just want to share that. The reason why I brought
that up like that is because in me, faster than
praying my messages from the poop, it has been changed
at the last minute because God decided to change it
because it was a need that need to be met,

(20:35):
and by me faster than praying, he was able to
reveal that to me. From my music ministry place, He's
changed my song orders, He's changed sometimes where I went
out to do, you know, music ministry after one song
and then it turned into a preaching engagement and I'm
doing healing and delivers because that's what that's what was

(20:56):
needed at the time. But I was prepared to go
to be the artist. But then it turns into a
healing and deliverance type of situation because that's what's what's
needed at the time. And I also was able to
seek that guidance through faster than prayering. So again, it's
a very very important tool that's needed. And I think

(21:18):
that it's great that we're having this topic because I
don't think that it's talked about enough throughout the Body
of Christ. We're not talking about faster than prayering enough.
And when you talk about the reasons we why we
fast and pray, and you really and you look at
the state of the church at times, meaning the people
being bound by certain things, being bound demonically, being bound
through religion. Just just you look at all these things,

(21:40):
and then you understand the purpose of faster than praying
and the fact that we're not talking about it enough
or probably means we're not doing it enough, and then
we can we can understand why the state of the
Body of Christ would be and can be in the
state that many people feel that it's in. We need
to get back to not just talking about fastening, prayer,
more Payton, new creatures in Christ about it, but we

(22:04):
also need to start implementing it more and and and
I think they will see with that, I think we'll
see a totally different look when it comes to the church.
So again, I'm really excited. I'm really honored to be
a part of this topic because I think this is
something that's really needed and it's something that as a
man of God, I definitely believe in fasting and prayer.

Speaker 9 (22:26):
And Pastor Pickney, is there anything more you would like
to add to our discussion as we come to a
clothes that we may have missed during our discussion about
fasting and praying.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Anything more, probably not. You were very thorough, so that's
that's a good thing. You were very thorough. I think
you hit most of the measure nuggets, so it's not
nothing necessarily to really add. I just want to just
encourage the listeners that may be listening in and maybe
listening to this for their episode and just encourage them

(23:04):
to maybe implement faster than praying and they push their
walk or get back to it, or or just increase it,
you know, just whatever. I just want to encourage people
to fasten and praying is a good thing.

Speaker 9 (23:17):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Fast and praying is definitely necessary. And fastening praying it's
something that we can do well. We can definitely see
the effects of it. A lot of times we deal
with them. We want to see a signed type of
generation well faster than prayer, and you would definitely see
the effects to fastening prayer. You would definitely see it.

(23:38):
So I just want to encourage somebody that's listening to
just be encouraged, to not be discouraged, but yet be encouraged.

Speaker 9 (23:47):
And Pastor Pigney please give your website, social media and
booking information to the Kingdom.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
So the best way to deal with all that right now,
as far as from a social media outlet will be
my Facebook page which is Virgil. And then mister Pickney,
it's even interesting that you're asking that because just recently
God kind of stripped me from all social media and
so he allowed me to get back on Facebook. So

(24:16):
and that's the only place you can reach me as
far as that. And then as far as booking, any
kind of situation like that, you can do it through
my email and the best email to do that through
is the seven seven seven Dotson at gmail dot com.
And you know we can maybe do some ministry together
in that aspect as well.

Speaker 9 (24:36):
And how made the Kingdom support your ministry and purchase
your music.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
That can be done on any of your major digital
distribution outlets from Apple Music to Amazon Music, iTunes, title
all the above and obviously Spotify. Mister Pickney is the name,
and those are the formats where you where you can
find me. And yeah, man, I appreciate the support fudyministry

(25:07):
and events and thank you for that for me an
opportunity to share that with people and Kingdom.

Stuff You Should Know
Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
